This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2015-10-28 01:08:45] lockhedge : now <code>XBX</code> at 298.61 and <code>BIX</code> at 298.73 at nearly the same level again
[2015-10-28 01:09:08] SnackyCoins : he also said they like tblk because it's smoother/less liquidations, but that bix was good for market making (? paraphrasing)
[2015-10-28 01:09:30] SnackyCoins : maybe slight misquote :) but somewhere in that realm
[2015-10-28 01:14:41] lockhedge : it might be true, we are still testing. a smoother index really might be better for less liquidation, but it should be transparent.
[2015-10-28 01:15:48] lockhedge : we know the weighting of the S&P 500 index, but we don't know XBX's weighting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%26P_500_Index#Weighting
[2015-10-28 01:17:35] micmix : @lockhedge Thanks for working on the open-source index! Is it on GitHub?
[2015-10-28 01:19:10] lockhedge : not yet, coming end of next week
[2015-10-28 01:20:25] micmix : very cool! (BTW, you might know me as miratrader)
[2015-10-28 01:23:29] lockhedge : welcome back, mi...
[2015-10-28 01:23:40] rari : Having a great experience with this exchange so far. Keep up the great work
[2015-10-28 01:26:00] micmix : lockhedge: I cleared the miratrader account for now, preparing to run bots on it. Don't want to mix discretionary and algo trading on one account.
[2015-10-28 01:26:14] lockhedge : <code>BIX</code> at 300.24, <code>XBX</code> at 299..97
[2015-10-28 01:27:10] lockhedge : micmix: you should just tell BitMEX support, or it might be seen as TOS violation
[2015-10-28 01:31:58] micmix : ok, a question to BitMEX_Arthur, BitMEX_Wally, BitMEX_Sam: can one person open more than one account to simplify reporting? Of course the person's real name and country of residence will be provided for all accounts.
[2015-10-28 01:32:29] BitMEX_Wally : micmix: That's fine
[2015-10-28 01:32:39] micmix : BitMEX_Wally: thanks
[2015-10-28 04:08:41] AbuAli : why when i'm on profit and i found my wallet is going decrees ?
[2015-10-28 04:09:36] AbuAli : after i make close market
[2015-10-28 04:09:40] AbuAli : i go to wallet
[2015-10-28 04:09:48] AbuAli : and i found it increase ?!
[2015-10-28 04:09:53] AbuAli : decrease *
[2015-10-28 04:09:54] AbuAli : sorry
[2015-10-28 04:15:08] BitMEX_Wally : AbuAli: Profits are withheld until settlement

[2015-10-28 06:25:27] malakas : max leverage is 100 now?
[2015-10-28 06:29:58] FoCheezyBreezy : On XBT24H, yes.
[2015-10-28 06:30:25] FoCheezyBreezy : On XBT7D, it's 50x, and it's 25x on all the monthly contracts.
[2015-10-28 07:37:04] priceaction : how much colleteral would i for xbtz15 if if my btc target is above 400?
[2015-10-28 08:23:43] zanza : however much you want to put in
[2015-10-28 08:28:28] jung1 : - 0.05%
[2015-10-28 09:07:42] malakas : thanks where do you think btc is heading today?
[2015-10-28 09:16:51] wykop.pl : west
[2015-10-28 09:17:00] malakas : lol
[2015-10-28 10:18:57] gustavo7 : boop
[2015-10-28 10:19:16] jung1 : I like green
[2015-10-28 10:27:10] malakas : crazy swings today
[2015-10-28 10:29:35] kogroken : pretty big askwall on V15 (100k)
[2015-10-28 10:52:48] BitMEX_Wally : kogroken: Yeah, they would do better place that on `XBT7D` which expires at the same time
[2015-10-28 10:52:50] BitMEX_Wally : But has more leverage and more liquidity
[2015-10-28 11:40:30] j8 : BitMEX_Wally: can you take a look at my account at 10:23 GMT today. i got into a forced liquidation state but nothing was liquidated. was closing part of an isolated position
[2015-10-28 11:47:06] gaoMex : Trying to find a quarterly quanto LTC contract. Any idea where?
[2015-10-28 12:01:38] escalicha : settlement its done?
[2015-10-28 12:02:08] MystPhysX : Yeah at 302
[2015-10-28 12:02:21] macios15 : jep but fair too high i think
[2015-10-28 12:02:38] MystPhysX : Definitely
[2015-10-28 12:02:52] MystPhysX : 305-306 is more realistic
[2015-10-28 12:02:56] escalicha : One hour early than normal?
[2015-10-28 12:03:15] MystPhysX : No it settles at this time everyday
[2015-10-28 12:03:50] MystPhysX : 12:00 UTC
[2015-10-28 12:04:18] escalicha : Spain moves his cloak past weekend
[2015-10-28 12:04:26] wykop.pl : cloak

[2015-10-28 12:04:49] escalicha : clock*
[2015-10-28 12:04:51] macios15 : nb can even enter short daily
[2015-10-28 12:05:01] macios15 : fcuking fair price
[2015-10-28 12:05:06] wykop.pl : better than cock
[2015-10-28 12:10:01] MystPhysX : Is an admin going to change the fair price indicator?
[2015-10-28 12:10:18] macios15 : daily pretty fcuked up
[2015-10-28 12:10:47] macios15 : nooo it went down now 0.02 lol
[2015-10-28 12:12:30] hashman : 24hr settles for 302, instantly starts trading again at 307 wtf
[2015-10-28 12:13:01] MystPhysX : They've changed it before, probably going to do it again. I'll wait for that before entering.
[2015-10-28 12:14:17] j8 : if you uncheck Isolate Margin you can place the order
[2015-10-28 12:16:13] MystPhysX : I was thinking of putting all my BTC into an order so that wouldn't work would it?
[2015-10-28 12:16:49] j8 : no you will have less margin, some will cover the initial "loss"
[2015-10-28 12:16:52] macios15 : they cant change it now becouse people already entered positions
[2015-10-28 12:17:10] j8 : of course they can
[2015-10-28 12:17:20] MystPhysX : ^
[2015-10-28 12:17:23] wurstgelee : this intransparant adjustment of fair price is crap
[2015-10-28 12:17:35] MystPhysX : They've done it before, like on Monday I believe.
[2015-10-28 12:17:36] wurstgelee : completely unpredictable for traders
[2015-10-28 12:17:41] macios15 : fair could be based by huobi only
[2015-10-28 12:17:57] wurstgelee : they did it twice (at least) yesterday
[2015-10-28 12:18:15] macios15 : soo they liq some people
[2015-10-28 12:18:17] wurstgelee : jumped ~$1.50, had a short open both times
[2015-10-28 12:18:38] macios15 : ok, its good now
[2015-10-28 12:18:41] MystPhysX : Adjusted
[2015-10-28 12:18:51] wurstgelee : lol
[2015-10-28 12:19:15] wurstgelee : seriously...:(
[2015-10-28 12:23:03] MystPhysX : Adjusted again?
[2015-10-28 12:24:06] macios15 : noo, bids down
[2015-10-28 12:26:18] macios15 : 600 btc sell wall eaten in 1 minut
[2015-10-28 12:59:26] dmasters1 : how do I switch on desktop notification of trades/orders
[2015-10-28 13:02:56] j8 : in your browser, you have to give it permission. for example in chrome you click the green lock beside the URL
[2015-10-28 13:47:37] dmasters1 : didi that, it shows allow, reloaded page, still no notification
[2015-10-28 13:48:58] BitMEX_Sam : So when you click the lock @dmasters1 you see "Allowed by you" under notifications?
[2015-10-28 13:50:26] dmasters1 : yes
[2015-10-28 13:51:19] BitMEX_Sam : Should be fine then, try making a tiny order high in the book and seeing if you get any notification
[2015-10-28 13:51:29] dmasters1 : i did but nothing
[2015-10-28 13:51:40] dmasters1 : oddly I am sure this was working before
[2015-10-28 13:53:30] BitMEX_Sam : That is odd - working here, not seeing any errors coming down the pipe
[2015-10-28 13:53:35] BitMEX_Sam : Try restarting the browser?
[2015-10-28 13:54:16] dmasters1 : ok wll do later, thanks
[2015-10-28 14:00:16] justinlooking : maybe try test with this: http://jsbin.com/ziwod/2/edit?html,js,output
[2015-10-28 14:13:11] sleger : any idea why premium in 24H is lower today ?
[2015-10-28 14:13:56] wurstgelee : sleger: changes several times a day apparently
[2015-10-28 14:14:21] sleger : Sorry i meant the real price premium, not what they call the "fair" price
[2015-10-28 14:14:28] wurstgelee : ah k
[2015-10-28 14:15:03] sleger : it's been around 2 since contract reopened 2 hours ago, although spot is getting higher, yesterday it was often around 4
[2015-10-28 15:55:12] jung1 : nice profit widget on chart
[2015-10-28 16:11:44] BitMEX_Sam : Here's the dump
[2015-10-28 16:12:01] macios15 : jep, corection ahead, glad for 307 short
[2015-10-28 16:14:26] wurstgelee : glad for 301.41 long :p
[2015-10-28 16:16:36] nickhnt : yeah me too
[2015-10-28 16:16:41] nickhnt : glad for the dip
[2015-10-28 16:17:01] wurstgelee : dont care about dip or peak, both are good ;)
[2015-10-28 16:18:06] AbuAli : hi guys
[2015-10-28 16:18:12] BitMEX_Sam : Mornin
[2015-10-28 16:18:14] Trigerfire : hey doods
[2015-10-28 16:18:26] nickhnt : hello
[2015-10-28 16:19:51] AbuAli : i have a problem
[2015-10-28 16:20:11] sleger : i dont
[2015-10-28 16:20:19] AbuAli : good for you
[2015-10-28 16:20:44] sleger : then maybe you should state your problem ?
[2015-10-28 16:21:20] AbuAli : 10 mins ago, i was 170% ROE, but once i closed the position, i lost
[2015-10-28 16:21:28] AbuAli : i was long
[2015-10-28 16:21:34] AbuAli : sorry short
[2015-10-28 16:21:55] sleger : because unrealised pnl is based on "fair price" whereas market price can be different
[2015-10-28 16:22:12] sleger : and the market moved sharply around that time
[2015-10-28 16:22:36] wurstgelee : AbuAli: check your order history, where did u open and where did u close your short?
[2015-10-28 16:22:46] wurstgelee : which price?
[2015-10-28 16:22:58] nickhnt : if you want to close your position, look at the order book and make an order with exact the same amount of contracts but with the opposite direction
[2015-10-28 16:23:11] nickhnt : example, if you want to close a long, make a short position
[2015-10-28 16:24:13] AbuAli : so i do not click on close market
[2015-10-28 16:24:33] AbuAli : i just do opposite to my position ?
[2015-10-28 16:24:53] BitMEX_Wally : AbuAli: Yes, you can use 'Close Market' or you can place a 'Limit' order for the opposite side of your posiiton
[2015-10-28 16:25:43] BitMEX_Wally : If you use 'Close Market' then you get whatever price the market is trading it, which may be worse than the Fair Price which is used for PNL calculations
[2015-10-28 16:25:59] nickhnt : you can do it both wasy, but I always do this way because I can see where my order is going to match
[2015-10-28 16:26:09] BitMEX_Wally : If you are long 1000 contracts then you just sell 1000 contracts to close
[2015-10-28 16:26:18] AbuAli : for example now i shorted 20k contracts entry price 303.3, and it was 170% ROE, then i went and closed the market but i lost, in the history the closing price was 305.27
[2015-10-28 16:26:37] BitMEX_Sam : You must have closed it right at a spike.
[2015-10-28 16:27:25] nickhnt : yeah because nobody was selling for you at the price you wanted
[2015-10-28 16:27:43] sleger : because the market did not agree with the fair price
[2015-10-28 16:27:56] BitMEX_Sam : It's best, in general, to enter a limit order into the book at the price you want and to let the market hit your order - you're less likely to have the market meet your price, but if it does, you'll close much more favorably
[2015-10-28 16:29:00] AbuAli : alright now im starting to understand
[2015-10-28 16:29:06] BitMEX_Wally : AbuAli: Your closing price was 304.41 (on average). The 305 was the order limit price on the close market
[2015-10-28 16:29:33] AbuAli : yes
[2015-10-28 16:30:24] AbuAli : for example, now i short 10k entry price 305.27 , ROE is 44.59%
[2015-10-28 16:30:58] AbuAli : then i need to long 10k at lower price in order to profit that ?
[2015-10-28 16:31:27] sleger : bravo
[2015-10-28 16:31:38] wurstgelee : or market close but check there is a sufficient order with desired price in place ;)
[2015-10-28 16:31:58] nickhnt : you can close your position little by little if you want
[2015-10-28 16:31:59] AbuAli : yes
[2015-10-28 16:32:08] AbuAli : thank you
[2015-10-28 16:32:30] nickhnt : always
[2015-10-28 16:40:10] AbuAli : ok now all good
[2015-10-28 16:40:27] AbuAli : so i can, short and then long at my own price and wait for it
[2015-10-28 16:40:39] wurstgelee : yes
[2015-10-28 16:40:56] AbuAli : entry at 303 then i just set long at 305 , then i just wait it to hit that price
[2015-10-28 16:41:15] AbuAli : sorry long at 300
[2015-10-28 16:41:25] wurstgelee : yes, but it might go lower and you get liquidated eventually
[2015-10-28 16:41:43] wurstgelee : only workd if market moves in your direction, but i assume you know that
[2015-10-28 16:42:17] AbuAli : yes
[2015-10-28 16:47:37] justinlooking : la marche aléatoire
[2015-10-28 16:51:48] sleger : nothing is purely random
[2015-10-28 17:16:44] macios15 : huobi 5k sell wall at some point
[2015-10-28 17:33:14] sleger : in which datacenter are the matching engines of bitmex ?
[2015-10-28 17:34:34] BitMEX_Sam : sleger: AWS eu-west-1
[2015-10-28 17:34:42] escalicha : 24 Liquidity?
[2015-10-28 17:35:11] escalicha : 3 usd spread

[2015-10-28 17:35:19] escalicha : or better, 8 dolar spread
[2015-10-28 17:35:32] escalicha : BitMEX_Sam: what happens?
[2015-10-28 17:35:32] sleger : escalicha: ?
[2015-10-28 17:35:42] sleger : i see 0.5 spread
[2015-10-28 17:35:49] BitMEX_Sam : MM was likely resetting orders
[2015-10-28 17:36:07] escalicha : 24h liquidity @sleger is 3 usd spreed for few minutes
[2015-10-28 17:36:37] escalicha : and only 33 contracts...
[2015-10-28 17:36:49] escalicha : 8 usd for 4500 contracts
[2015-10-28 17:37:37] escalicha : I was on 7D window, sorry, but its the same, imposible trading
[2015-10-28 17:54:12] sleger : post orders then
[2015-10-28 18:20:49] BitMEX_Sam : 7d is looking healthy
[2015-10-28 18:21:08] sleger : he means v15 i bet
[2015-10-28 18:27:47] escalicha : Now its fixed, but no half our ago!
[2015-10-28 18:28:05] escalicha : You know it, talk with the MM to to it better
[2015-10-28 18:38:35] macios15 : very nice bounce from that 1949 straight moon
[2015-10-28 18:40:43] wurstgelee : bounce was 1970ish
[2015-10-28 18:41:17] wurstgelee : seems stable now, might go either direction from there, probably up
[2015-10-28 18:47:04] macios15 : probably down
[2015-10-28 18:59:52] wurstgelee : mh...no
[2015-10-28 18:59:54] wurstgelee : ;)
[2015-10-28 19:02:02] nickhnt : btc can drop anytime
[2015-10-28 19:02:10] nickhnt : doesnt feel very strong
[2015-10-28 19:02:31] nickhnt : I mean, it doesnt bounce very high but at the same time doenst fell as hard as I was expecting
[2015-10-28 19:03:17] nickhnt : didnt*
[2015-10-28 19:03:51] macios15 : nickhnt: i think 1900 is plausible today
[2015-10-28 19:04:54] nickhnt : macios15: yes it can be, but first need to break the previous high that was 1945
[2015-10-28 19:06:42] macios15 : nickhnt: jep, i noticed that nobody catched this knife, and i didnt bounced
[2015-10-28 19:17:43] BitMEX_Sam : https://tradeblock.com/markets/index/ has been updated
[2015-10-28 19:17:52] BitMEX_Sam : Gives a nice view & more details on how the XBX index is weighted
[2015-10-28 20:29:49] wurstgelee : now we only need something similar for fair basis ;)
[2015-10-28 20:35:21] BitMEX_Sam : Yes - we have some ideas in the pipeline, we'll keep you all updated
[2015-10-28 20:36:40] lockhedge : congrats, Tradeblock. good first step towards open source :)
[2015-10-28 20:40:55] nickhnt : it would be nice if we could sort the positions table, order history table, etc
[2015-10-28 20:41:01] nickhnt : and filter too
[2015-10-28 20:42:37] BitMEX_Sam : Yes, I'd like to do that as well - it is soon time to move to a new table structure
[2015-10-28 21:03:16] Original_Wolf : Is there a fee everytime I order contracts?
[2015-10-28 21:03:21] Original_Wolf : How does this whole bidding thing work...?
[2015-10-28 21:05:10] sleger : Original_Wolf: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finance
[2015-10-28 21:20:23] lockhedge : this bidding thing is an <code>open order book</code> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_book_(trading) with <code>limit orders</code> you can start with BitMEX Testnet, try and learn, without any risk to lose real money

[2015-10-28 22:43:20] wurstgelee : ?
[2015-10-28 22:44:01] wurstgelee : was that link for me?
[2015-10-28 22:44:55] lockhedge : no, sorry. it was for Original_Wolf
[2015-10-28 22:46:54] wurstgelee : =)
[2015-10-28 22:51:10] nickhnt : so
[2015-10-28 22:51:16] nickhnt : who bought the dip? :)
[2015-10-28 22:54:54] wurstgelee : which dip?
[2015-10-28 22:55:14] wurstgelee : to 296 @ stamp earlier the day?
[2015-10-28 22:56:05] Original_Wolf : I'm glad this isn't S&P
[2015-10-28 22:56:12] Original_Wolf : Because I'm pretty sure, we all bought the dip.
[2015-10-28 23:06:45] lockhedge : XBX went below 303.99, BIX above 304.5, let's see where we are heading ;)
[2015-10-28 23:35:15] ksinvest : XBX at 304.56, BIX at 304.93
[2015-10-28 23:43:58] fyrstikken : Hey, you guys know that Bitmex has a teamspeak at ts.bitmex.com right?
[2015-10-28 23:47:29] wurstgelee : i didnt
[2015-10-28 23:48:11] macios15 : Hey,you guys know that we hit 2k cny again
[2015-10-28 23:48:43] nickhnt : time to dump?
[2015-10-28 23:49:14] wurstgelee : no, 2000 just got smashed
[2015-10-28 23:49:18] wurstgelee : not yet
[2015-10-28 23:49:46] macios15 : at 2020-2030
[2015-10-28 23:49:53] wurstgelee : probably
[2015-10-28 23:50:00] wurstgelee : or more likely
[2015-10-28 23:50:08] wurstgelee : it might push higher tho
[2015-10-28 23:50:40] macios15 : we dont hit that double top imo
[2015-10-28 23:51:51] nickhnt : when the volume starts lets see how far it goes
[2015-10-28 23:57:34] macios15 : nickhnt: look shi im out
[2015-10-28 23:58:24] lockhedge : XBX 304.94, BIX 305.17 they are closer again :)
[2015-10-29 00:30:50] macios15 : 5k sell wall at 2000cny
[2015-10-29 00:34:25] Original_Wolf : I don't understand any of this speak :c'
[2015-10-29 00:36:09] wurstgelee : ill translate it for you: there was a 5000 btc sell order @ huobi (chinese exchange) placed @ 2000 CNY
[2015-10-29 00:38:26] macios15 : its still there but little bit higher
[2015-10-29 00:40:02] lockhedge : you'll never now if this is spoofing or an order that really waits to get filled
[2015-10-29 00:40:17] lockhedge : you'll never know...
[2015-10-29 00:41:28] macios15 : lockhedge: yes but it looks soo strange to me when huobi go higher and higher when ask/bid ratio is like 10 to 1
[2015-10-29 00:44:44] macios15 : all looks soo fake, sb sell 200 btc at once? bids are only like 50, huobi dont give fcuk price dont change even 0.01
[2015-10-29 00:49:12] lockhedge : OKC is breaking 2000 again
[2015-10-29 00:50:43] lockhedge : XBX at 303.95, BIX at 304.65
[2015-10-29 00:52:08] macios15 : lockhedge: oh, its easy to break new lvl when you can only buy on exchange, when u sell it dosent afect price lol
[2015-10-29 00:53:53] lockhedge : macios15: where can you only buy but not sell?
[2015-10-29 00:54:23] macios15 : lockhedge: huobi
[2015-10-29 00:55:36] macios15 : lockhedge: look when sb sell 100+ it dosent afect price
[2015-10-29 00:59:09] lockhedge : well, when somebody sells normally somebody else buys - or no trade will happen. don't know how it works on huobi. do you think it's fake volume?
[2015-10-29 01:00:49] macios15 : lockhedge: yes, look at 1W volume from 200k-400k week to about 2mln+
[2015-10-29 01:04:35] wurstgelee : thats still trading
[2015-10-29 01:04:44] wurstgelee : buying own sells and vice versa
[2015-10-29 01:04:57] wurstgelee : artificial volume, yes - fake? no.
[2015-10-29 01:12:59] macios15 : i didnt posted it before look at this http://scr.hu/3e9p/enhcq from 30 sep
[2015-10-29 01:16:46] macios15 : looks like we are going above 1k at this one
[2015-10-29 01:17:54] macios15 : 3d stoch rsi wasnt soo flat at 100 even at gox bubble or april 2013
[2015-10-29 02:37:11] laisee : maybe huobi order book never sees orders b4 matching engine? so price doesn't move before matching happens.
[2015-10-29 02:45:29] laisee : Huobi volume could be fake, or artificial, but its definitely misleading if vol is so high and price doesn't move around much.
[2015-10-29 03:30:18] macios15 : aboce 2020cnt, daily dont give shit
[2015-10-29 04:53:40] macios15 : 2029 daily still same price
[2015-10-29 05:15:33] BitMEX_Wally : laisee: If orders entered the order book before matching then you would see a crossed book
[2015-10-29 05:16:38] BitMEX_Wally : For example, if the offer is 5 @ 300 and I place a bid 3 @ 301 then you will not see my bid in the order book at all.
[2015-10-29 05:17:07] BitMEX_Wally : You would just see the offer go from 5 @ 300 to 2 @ 300
[2015-10-29 05:49:59] laisee : wally> unfilled odes should go into ode book automatically and move he bid/ask. maybe their order book is not updated automatically?
[2015-10-29 05:52:24] BitMEX_Wally : Yes, the unfilled remainder should go in the order book. But these Chinese exchanges all fake volume
[2015-10-29 05:53:35] BitMEX_Wally : If a trade of 100 happens, they count it as 200 (buy and sell separately) in order to double their volumes...
[2015-10-29 05:54:22] BitMEX_Wally : http://www.coindesk.com/asian-exchanges-adopt-controversial-counting-method-futures-trades/
[2015-10-29 06:02:37] ethexio : What's with the 7500 orders, that'll disappear - then reappear?
[2015-10-29 06:24:25] VanCleef : yo iswhaleclub down?
[2015-10-29 06:26:19] BitMEX_Wally : VanCleef: `cannot resolve ts.whaleclub.co: Unknown host`
[2015-10-29 06:26:44] BitMEX_Wally : Seems like a DNS issue
[2015-10-29 06:26:52] BitMEX_Wally : They're welcome to use `ts.bitmex.com` if they want more stable hosting
[2015-10-29 06:28:24] BitMEX_Wally : ethexio: It's a market maker who posts 7500 orders, and pulls and resubmits when updating prices
[2015-10-29 08:13:53] wurstgelee : why is fair praise only ~$0.6 today?
[2015-10-29 08:13:58] wurstgelee : price ofc
[2015-10-29 08:17:06] lockhedge : it's always closer to spot when closer to settlement
[2015-10-29 08:17:25] wurstgelee : it was way higher yesterday this time
[2015-10-29 08:18:51] lockhedge : interesting, mid price is even below BIX (spot) https://robotfinance.org/api/bix_alpha/
[2015-10-29 08:21:32] lockhedge : XBT7D mid price is about 1$ below fair price
[2015-10-29 08:26:48] wurstgelee : the XBT index seems a little low to me as well.. its only $.50 above stamp and ~ 13$ below china
[2015-10-29 08:28:06] wurstgelee : no, its $0.24 above stamp
[2015-10-29 09:19:28] lockhedge : finally Tradeblock's XBX (reference for XBT spot) at 309.63 (BIX at 310.56)
[2015-10-29 09:20:48] lockhedge : XBX is not ignoring China anymore...
[2015-10-29 09:21:53] wurstgelee : yep
[2015-10-29 09:21:56] wurstgelee : was bout time :)
[2015-10-29 09:37:48] macios15 : i bet for corection at 2100 cny whos with me?
[2015-10-29 09:44:54] justinlooking : fortune favours the brave
[2015-10-29 09:53:09] dmasters1 : is there a widget for bitmex exchange-wide volume?
[2015-10-29 10:03:21] BitMEX_Wally : We have an API for volume but no widget. Check out this site which shows our data: http://exchangewar.info/#bitmex
[2015-10-29 10:08:55] zanza : i can't figure out this upward price pressure
[2015-10-29 10:08:59] macios15 : when my ralised pnl is at minus, and i got settlement my balance will change?
[2015-10-29 10:09:06] zanza : it doesn't look like OK-coin
[2015-10-29 10:30:07] macios15 : why dail is still at same price when huobi was on 2014, this fair price is shit
[2015-10-29 10:38:33] j8 : CNY markets aren't included in the index
[2015-10-29 10:39:14] MystPhysX : Pity about that
[2015-10-29 10:40:23] j8 : it's better in a way since you don't have to worry about USD/CNY
[2015-10-29 10:41:39] macios15 : very good idea, sell 400 on finex change price by 2 usd :)
[2015-10-29 10:55:42] BitMEX_Wally : macios15: If you have negative realisedPnl then at settlement your wallet balance will not change
[2015-10-29 10:56:50] BitMEX_Wally : If there is demand we could launch a future that settles on an XBTCNY index
[2015-10-29 10:57:45] MystPhysX : Oh I would like that
[2015-10-29 10:58:43] wykop.pl : better to wait for improved liquidity on usd
[2015-10-29 11:14:55] cengel : Wally i think that would be great. Its a different animal from BTCUSD
[2015-10-29 11:15:40] cengel : But I also lobbied to get BVOL7D so I'm not a great gauge of product demand
[2015-10-29 11:16:44] cengel : Wally the basis on XBTZ15, XBTH16 looks a bit out of step currently
[2015-10-29 11:33:22] cengel : Did you see LakeBTC is offering a "maker only" switch for order execution? That would be cool to have here too since there's a maker/taker model
[2015-10-29 11:54:33] wurstgelee : so we have a negative fair price of 5 cents now? ;)
[2015-10-29 11:54:49] wurstgelee : 6 cents
[2015-10-29 11:56:47] j8 : it's because it's the indicative settle price for the last half hour
[2015-10-29 11:57:39] j8 : although fair basis can be negative.. it's not in this case
[2015-10-29 11:57:56] wurstgelee : my bad
[2015-10-29 11:57:58] wurstgelee : youre right
[2015-10-29 11:58:35] wurstgelee : i wonder if fair price jumps again in a min ;)
[2015-10-29 11:58:57] j8 : it will, since they set an annualized rate
[2015-10-29 11:59:15] j8 : which is at 450% currently
[2015-10-29 12:00:01] j8 : doesn't really matter since no one has positions after settlement, and the market will quickly decide on a premium
[2015-10-29 12:00:15] wurstgelee : yep ofc
[2015-10-29 12:00:27] wurstgelee : $4 up
[2015-10-29 12:00:45] wurstgelee : corrected
[2015-10-29 12:00:50] wurstgelee : $2
[2015-10-29 12:01:42] diggy : i made a withdrawal but my e-mail provider is not available. can i cancel it s
[2015-10-29 12:02:06] j8 : send an email to support
[2015-10-29 12:02:28] j8 : lol
[2015-10-29 12:02:33] wurstgelee : lol :D
[2015-10-29 12:20:33] BitMEX_Wally : diggy: I just resolved your support request, check your email
[2015-10-29 12:21:19] j8 : he can't check his email, that's the point
[2015-10-29 12:21:26] MystPhysX : Lol
[2015-10-29 12:27:53] wurstgelee : :D :D :D

[2015-10-29 12:34:00] zanza : whoa that drop
[2015-10-29 12:34:34] zanza : went from 310 to 305 like instantly
[2015-10-29 12:34:44] zanza : i bet there will be huge walls at 310
[2015-10-29 12:34:58] wurstgelee : the wall @ 310 wa almost down
[2015-10-29 12:35:01] wurstgelee : was

[2015-10-29 13:50:22] wurstgelee : liquidated shorts
[2015-10-29 13:50:26] sleger : that will teach him to be short
[2015-10-29 13:51:18] j8 : very easy to be liquidated on a long at 100x too
[2015-10-29 13:51:54] wurstgelee : for shorters: http://i.imgur.com/Zm1YJ3y.jpg

[2015-10-29 13:52:31] macios15 : wurstgelee: it could drop now any time
[2015-10-29 13:53:29] macios15 : who get that 317,43 short i think, great decision
[2015-10-29 13:53:43] nickhnt : yeah who got it?
[2015-10-29 13:54:07] BitMEX_Wally : Someone who is using less than 100x leverage
[2015-10-29 13:55:05] wurstgelee : macios15: im good, everything closed ;)
[2015-10-29 13:55:48] macios15 : wurstgelee: that rise was sick, that chickun still got some legs
[2015-10-29 13:56:01] nickhnt : macios15: we are still in the uptrend channel
[2015-10-29 13:56:15] macios15 : nickhnt: jep
[2015-10-29 13:57:29] macios15 : nickhnt: but its going 2050 i think
[2015-10-29 13:58:03] nickhnt : macios15: Im betting 2060, lets see
[2015-10-29 13:58:25] macios15 : nickhnt: yes, my bad

[2015-10-29 14:04:09] nickhnt : xD
[2015-10-29 14:08:49] macios15 : if we pass 318 we go 340 thats last resistance to 436-450
[2015-10-29 14:09:35] macios15 : china resistance 2100, 2222, 2450
[2015-10-29 14:11:39] nickhnt : macios15: probably going to retrace after these targets
[2015-10-29 14:11:45] nickhnt : but we never know hehehe
[2015-10-29 14:12:44] macios15 : nickhnt: i think that it will do oposite becouse everybody thinks that starts shorts and then got squized
[2015-10-29 14:13:50] nickhnt : macios15: if this happens whe could get to $360 or $420
[2015-10-29 14:13:56] nickhnt : but that would be too much i guess
[2015-10-29 14:14:46] macios15 : nickhnt: we get to 1k before december mark my words, look at volume its big like never and 3d stoch rsi is flater on 100 than on mt gox bubble
[2015-10-29 14:15:25] nickhnt : we need to retrace, even when btc bubbled, if you see the daily chart, it retraced violently and got up just as fast
[2015-10-29 14:15:44] macios15 : nickhnt: but only if we pass 340$
[2015-10-29 14:16:21] nickhnt : macios15: that would be amazing xD
[2015-10-29 14:16:51] macios15 : nickhnt: i can post my chart again
[2015-10-29 14:17:41] nickhnt : macios15: yeah i saw it man, it really looks like something big is coming
[2015-10-29 14:18:29] macios15 : nickhnt: but we need some good news
[2015-10-29 14:19:31] macios15 : nickhnt: maybe huobi is going to do gox again, those sells at huobi dont afect price
[2015-10-29 14:19:59] nickhnt : macios15: do you think they are running fractional reserves?
[2015-10-29 14:20:54] macios15 : nickhnt: what u mean im not nativ poland
[2015-10-29 14:21:37] nickhnt : like when everyone comes to the bank to withdraw their money but the bank doesnt have the money for everyone
[2015-10-29 14:21:46] nickhnt : because the bank was using the money elsewhere
[2015-10-29 14:22:48] macios15 : nickhnt: yes, and now they are buying soo its not afection price, soo they could run away with btc
[2015-10-29 14:24:34] macios15 : nickhnt: wall street ofc, but sec thought is that some goverment is intimidated or sombady and it need to pay in bitcoin some ransom
[2015-10-29 14:25:03] wurstgelee : i wouldnt short @ 315 currently
[2015-10-29 14:25:39] macios15 : wurstgelee: yes lets wait 2100 and 320

[2015-10-29 14:31:47] sleger : and this one isnt a liquidation
[2015-10-29 14:31:56] wurstgelee : its yours?
[2015-10-29 14:32:03] sleger : no
[2015-10-29 14:33:29] wurstgelee : nice spread
[2015-10-29 14:40:51] nickhnt : going up i think
[2015-10-29 15:00:22] roymalmberg : Anyone good at API?
[2015-10-29 15:01:07] sleger : what does that even mean ?
[2015-10-29 15:01:32] roymalmberg : application programing interface
[2015-10-29 15:01:44] sleger : i know
[2015-10-29 15:01:45] roymalmberg : want to retrieve minute data from XBT
[2015-10-29 15:01:51] sleger : i meant what does your question mean
[2015-10-29 15:02:03] sleger : so query it every minute
[2015-10-29 15:02:28] roymalmberg : Oh ok, I would need help with querying from 2014 to today, minute
[2015-10-29 15:02:50] j8 : have you looked at the API explorer
[2015-10-29 15:02:52] sleger : oh that is historical data then
[2015-10-29 15:03:13] roymalmberg : is it possible to choose time with:
[2015-10-29 15:03:14] roymalmberg : https://www.bitmex.com/api/v1/trade?symbol=.XBT&count=1&columns=price&filter=
[2015-10-29 15:03:21] roymalmberg : nope, havent checked explorer
[2015-10-29 15:03:57] j8 : https://www.bitmex.com/api/explorer/#!/Trade/Trade_get
[2015-10-29 15:04:15] j8 : `startTime` and `endTime` are parameters
[2015-10-29 15:05:35] roymalmberg : thank you! is this possible in just a normal browser? or do i need to use python or something
[2015-10-29 15:05:43] roymalmberg : I appreciate it!
[2015-10-29 15:06:03] j8 : you can do it right in the API explorer
[2015-10-29 15:06:11] j8 : there is a button that says `try it out`
[2015-10-29 15:06:18] roymalmberg : Great
[2015-10-29 15:09:29] j8 : if you're doing some analysis on the `.XBT` index keep in mind that its reference switched from bitfinex to tradeblock a couple months ago
[2015-10-29 15:10:55] macios15 : why daily changed position, i opened V15 .........
[2015-10-29 15:11:13] Gemz : anyone trading the 25 dec ?
[2015-10-29 15:11:25] j8 : yes
[2015-10-29 15:11:49] j8 : not much on the book but i wish there was
[2015-10-29 15:11:55] roymalmberg : Yes thank you, I guess I would pay more attention on data from september, but they bitfinex is included in the api i guess?
[2015-10-29 15:11:55] Gemz : im more of a swing traders
[2015-10-29 15:12:08] Gemz : unfortunately not much luquidity on that
[2015-10-29 15:13:22] j8 : roymalmberg: it switched shortly after the flash crash in august, i can find the date if you need it
[2015-10-29 15:14:31] roymalmberg : I would be interested to know if you have it available! How come they switched?
[2015-10-29 15:14:37] j8 : august 28th at 12:00 GMT is when the tradeblock data starts
[2015-10-29 15:15:16] j8 : they switched because bitfinex was a really unreliable data feed, and it's better to be on a composite index anyway
[2015-10-29 15:15:21] SnackyCoins : they switched after 3 incidents at bitfinex in a single week that resulted in excessively large price swings and also data outage during settlement
[2015-10-29 15:15:38] j8 : and yeah the crash to 160
[2015-10-29 15:15:48] j8 : was the final straw
[2015-10-29 15:15:54] roymalmberg : thanks, I see, was the crash because of techinal problems or speculation?
[2015-10-29 15:16:15] roymalmberg : People got compensated or was it a big problem?
[2015-10-29 15:16:15] SnackyCoins : their interface broke, so yeah technical problem
[2015-10-29 15:16:24] j8 : massive liquidations too
[2015-10-29 15:16:32] SnackyCoins : people got compensated
[2015-10-29 15:16:45] roymalmberg : Good !
[2015-10-29 15:16:50] j8 : it was a big problem, a lot of people were unhappy
[2015-10-29 15:17:26] roymalmberg : I can see that, with so big swing its hard to protect yourself
[2015-10-29 15:18:02] j8 : yeah, for high leverage futures it's better to use an index that represents the market as a whole
[2015-10-29 15:18:40] j8 : tradeblock XBX index is designed to filter out a single exchange that deviates from the rest
[2015-10-29 15:35:37] roymalmberg : Hints? :) https://www.bitmex.com/api/v1/quote/bucketed?binSize=1m&symbol=.XBT&count=500&start=0&reverse=false&startTime=2014-12-26%2011%3A00&endTime=2014-12-26%2013%3A00
[2015-10-29 15:36:04] BitMEX_Wally : That is for quote data, bucketed too
[2015-10-29 15:36:11] BitMEX_Wally : `.XBT` is only available from the `trade` table
[2015-10-29 15:36:42] roymalmberg : okey! Thanks
[2015-10-29 15:37:49] BitMEX_Wally : roymalmberg: Try this: https://www.bitmex.com/api/v1/trade/byDate?symbol=.XBT&startTime=2014.12.01&endTime=2014.12.05
[2015-10-29 15:38:09] roymalmberg : smooth, perfect
[2015-10-29 15:41:48] lockhedge : j8: in theory XBX might be a good idea for certain use cases (like using it reference price for liquidations). in any case: i wouldn't base any trading decisions on this index, it's just too slow.
[2015-10-29 15:42:03] j8 : agreed
[2015-10-29 15:43:14] j8 : it doesn't respond when there's a big buy on one exchange even though that's a pretty good signal for short term trading
[2015-10-29 15:44:54] roymalmberg : you mean XBX is a more even index? like compilation of all? and XBT is based on trades from bitmex?
[2015-10-29 15:45:19] roymalmberg : or what exchange is they based on?
[2015-10-29 15:45:24] roymalmberg : are*
[2015-10-29 15:46:20] j8 : no, XBX is a weighted average of 5 spot exchanges
[2015-10-29 15:46:21] roymalmberg : bitstamp
[2015-10-29 15:46:27] roymalmberg : I see
[2015-10-29 15:46:28] lockhedge : j8: yes, every move will always start at one single exchange, ignoring this first move (like OKC some hours ago) makes the index fall behind.
[2015-10-29 15:46:39] j8 : `.XBT` tracks XBX.
[2015-10-29 15:47:29] sleger : lockhedge: do you have any formula you would suggest ? or some other index that does what you say
[2015-10-29 15:48:05] roymalmberg : Is there any unweighted indicies we can track?
[2015-10-29 15:48:18] lockhedge : i'm working on BIX, will be an open source alternative to XBX alpha version: https://robotfinance.org/api/bix_alpha/
[2015-10-29 15:48:51] j8 : roymalmberg: i'm not sure what you mean, just the data from one exchange?
[2015-10-29 15:49:02] roymalmberg : yes one exchange
[2015-10-29 15:49:19] roymalmberg : lockhedge: interesting, based on what data? :)
[2015-10-29 15:49:33] j8 : you have to get that from the exchange, or from other data aggregators
[2015-10-29 15:50:12] sleger : j8: do you publish the computation formula used ?
[2015-10-29 15:50:21] roymalmberg : Guess what I would really like is bid and ask price
[2015-10-29 15:50:54] j8 : sleger: that's lockhedge doing the BIX index
[2015-10-29 15:51:05] sleger : sorry
[2015-10-29 15:51:18] sleger : lockhedge: do you publish the formula ?
[2015-10-29 15:52:10] lockhedge : currently only based on Bitfinex, Bitstamp and OKC we use order book data (mid price), not last trade. weightings will still be improved.
[2015-10-29 15:52:47] j8 : volume weighted?
[2015-10-29 15:53:38] lockhedge : we will publish the formula and sample code (open source) so everybody can rebuild the index without paying for a feed or getting delayed data via a 'proxy' in NYC (TradeBlock)
[2015-10-29 15:56:52] lockhedge : j8: more based on latency than volume based, will use info from high volume exchanges only anyway and use order book data not last trade. still working on weightings, currently it's 50% Bitfinex, 25% Bitstamp and 25% OKC under normal conditions.
[2015-10-29 15:58:22] j8 : i see, i think that's roughly proportional to their historical volumes
[2015-10-29 16:11:06] macios15 : 2080
[2015-10-29 16:13:08] owsleybeats : BTC @ $350 !!!!WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
