This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2016-05-07 03:50:49] twistedline : guys, the new bitmex eth contract is sweet!
[2016-05-07 03:54:52] BitMEX_Wally : twistedline: Glad you like it :)
[2016-05-07 04:33:14] micmix : So far the swap has been tracking spot quite well but it's too early to tell. with 1% spread and high price volatility 0.8% weekly funding rate doesn't have a lot of effect
[2016-05-07 04:56:40] zanza : rememebr when you noobs used to trade Quanto futures?
[2016-05-07 04:56:44] zanza : i remember
[2016-05-07 04:56:59] zanza : the good ole days I call them
[2016-05-07 04:58:05] zanza : are liquidations done with limit (market) orders?
[2016-05-07 04:58:30] zanza : im wondering, this new contact seems like a "big fish" could cause disruption
[2016-05-07 05:19:13] BitMEX_Wally : zanza: Liquidations are done with Limit orders that are automatically aggressed
[2016-05-07 05:39:31] zanza : sounds good
[2016-05-07 06:06:47] twistedline : Wally, u there?
[2016-05-07 06:13:28] BitMEX_Wally : twistedline: Hello
[2016-05-07 07:50:05] dorothy490 : BitMEX_Wally: if I short ETH i will pay fees, rights? or receive %
[2016-05-07 07:50:55] dorothy490 : yes I see
[2016-05-07 07:52:46] REKT : Liquidated long on `XBT7D`: Sell 6438 @ 461.31
[2016-05-07 07:53:55] BitMEX_Wally : dorothy490: In 4 hours' time if you are short ETHXBT you will receive 0.11%
[2016-05-07 09:49:36] REKT : Liquidated short on `XBT24H`: Buy 10000 @ 461.35
[2016-05-07 09:59:06] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETHXBT`: Sell 95 @ 0.02
[2016-05-07 10:20:13] BTCDJS : BitMEX_Wally: Bitmex charts/price correlate OKcoin right?
[2016-05-07 10:20:50] BTCDJS : Or rather BTCCNY
[2016-05-07 10:21:06] BitMEX_Wally : Our `XBT` products reference the Kaiko BitMEX Index
[2016-05-07 10:21:18] BitMEX_Wally : https://www.kaiko.com/bitmex
[2016-05-07 10:21:55] BitMEX_Wally : This index includes USD prices from Bitfinex, OKC, Bitstamp
[2016-05-07 10:22:40] BTCDJS : ok thanks
[2016-05-07 11:05:18] habibi : BitMEX_Wally: what is settlement range on ethxbt?
[2016-05-07 11:05:37] BitMEX_Wally : It never settles
[2016-05-07 11:05:47] BitMEX_Wally : If it does we'll probably give 24 hours notice and take a 2 hour twap
[2016-05-07 11:06:08] habibi : http://scr.hu/9xvi/2d64a *
[2016-05-07 11:17:20] rapidtrades : everyone ready to short eth for that sweet 2 ticks premium?
[2016-05-07 11:20:17] rapidtrades : u know before crypto came along i didn't know what to do with myself on the weekends
[2016-05-07 11:20:53] rapidtrades : thank god we can now trade saturdays...instead of you know, having a life
[2016-05-07 11:23:39] viptrader : i didnt understand the fundnig in ETH tradng
[2016-05-07 11:23:47] viptrader : what does that means
[2016-05-07 11:49:54] BitMEX_Wally : If you are long `ETHXBT` then every 24 hours you pay a small fee in Bitcoin
[2016-05-07 11:50:05] BitMEX_Wally : If you are short, then you get you receive this fee
[2016-05-07 11:53:49] zanza : How is this new Perpetual Swap looking on your end so far BitMEX_Wally
[2016-05-07 11:55:27] BitMEX_Wally : Pretty good. Volume of 2000 XBT in the last 24 hours, it's tracking the spot price closely.
[2016-05-07 11:55:44] BitMEX_Wally : Funding will be charged in 5 minutes
[2016-05-07 11:58:43] tscha : 2k btc is indeed good
[2016-05-07 11:59:16] tscha : considering spot volume was nothing special
[2016-05-07 12:01:38] BitMEX_Wally : Ok, 0.27786 BItcoin worth of funding was paid from longs to shorts
[2016-05-07 12:01:58] BitMEX_Wally : The new funding rate is now 0.03% (as the XBT rate came down and the ETH rate went up on Poloniex)
[2016-05-07 12:02:05] rapidtrades : boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
[2016-05-07 12:02:53] BitMEX_Wally : If you want to see how much the Funding was, you can look at your Trade History: https://www.bitmex.com/app/tradeHistory
[2016-05-07 12:03:10] BitMEX_Wally : The `Comm.` column is the amount paid, if negative you received it (same as maker/taker)
[2016-05-07 12:03:30] rapidtrades : ok catch u laters fellas
[2016-05-07 12:05:28] cengel : @BitMEX_Wally when does the withheld profit credit on the new product?
[2016-05-07 12:05:50] BitMEX_Wally : cengel: Roughly 50% is unlocked every 8 hours, and the full amount on a weekly rebalance Friday 12:00 UTC
[2016-05-07 12:06:24] BitMEX_Wally : Only profit is withheld, funding is not
[2016-05-07 12:06:50] cengel : Would be helpful for this information to be available in the contract specs: https://www.bitmex.com/app/contract/ETHXBT
[2016-05-07 12:07:16] BitMEX_Wally : DPE Enabled Yes: This contract is highly speculative and has Dynamic Profit Equalisation enabled. See the documentation for more details.
[2016-05-07 12:07:47] cengel : XBTUSD24H DPE credits daily, why woudn't a perpetual product with daily funding payments also?
[2016-05-07 12:08:38] rapidtrades : BAN CENGEL
[2016-05-07 12:08:49] BitMEX_Wally : ETH7D settled weekly, so ETHXBT is rebalanced weekly
[2016-05-07 12:09:22] cengel : ...right
[2016-05-07 12:10:24] BitMEX_Wally : We'll see how it goes, a weekly rebalance gives longer for DPE to clear
[2016-05-07 13:14:24] BTCDJS : BitMEX_Wally: Theres no way I can open a position as a market order and close it at a specific rate is there?
[2016-05-07 13:16:18] BTCDJS : As in I need to step away from the computer and I want to set a rate at which to exit in case I'm not back in time to close it manually
[2016-05-07 13:35:56] BitMEX_Wally : BTCDJS: Sure there is
[2016-05-07 13:36:19] BitMEX_Wally : You can place a limit order to close out at a target profit
[2016-05-07 13:36:36] BitMEX_Wally : Or a stop order as a stop loss
[2016-05-07 13:37:38] BTCDJS : thanks.
[2016-05-07 13:38:01] BitMEX_Wally : Try submitting the order with 1 contract first
[2016-05-07 13:38:10] BitMEX_Wally : And see if it looks correct
[2016-05-07 13:38:23] BitMEX_Wally : If it's a limit order it will appear in the order book and be listed under `Active Orders`
[2016-05-07 13:38:30] BitMEX_Wally : If it is a Stop order it will be under `Stops`
[2016-05-07 13:38:53] BitMEX_Wally : So choose `Limit` for take profit and `Stop Market` for stop loss
[2016-05-07 13:39:48] BTCDJS : so im in a market order now. do i use stop market?
[2016-05-07 13:40:10] BitMEX_Wally : `Market` refers to an order type
[2016-05-07 13:40:22] BitMEX_Wally : Once the Market order has executed the order is finished
[2016-05-07 13:40:27] BitMEX_Wally : You then have a position
[2016-05-07 13:40:41] BitMEX_Wally : How you enter a position does not matter
[2016-05-07 13:41:19] mrp1nk : hey wally, any plans to add trailing stop limit orders? @BitMEX_Wally
[2016-05-07 13:41:22] BTCDJS : well I'm shorting with a market order. I want to exit at 458.40
[2016-05-07 13:42:39] BitMEX_Wally : Ok, so forget about the market order.
[2016-05-07 13:42:44] BTCDJS : but i want to leave the computer and make sure it exits at that price incase I'm not here in time to stop it
[2016-05-07 13:42:45] BitMEX_Wally : You have a short position now
[2016-05-07 13:42:57] BTCDJS : yes
[2016-05-07 13:43:05] BitMEX_Wally : In the drop down choose `Limit` Order
[2016-05-07 13:43:20] BitMEX_Wally : Put in the quantity of your position, and price 458.40
[2016-05-07 13:43:29] BitMEX_Wally : Then click `Buy`
[2016-05-07 13:44:09] BTCDJS : OMG that was so easy. Thanks
[2016-05-07 13:44:19] BitMEX_Wally : :)
[2016-05-07 13:44:21] miramm1115 : BitMEX_Wally: IDK about swap being a success. looks like most volume came in the beginning when people were entering positions. previous session was very slow, this one looks slow as well. maybe because it's weekend. do you have volume data per session?
[2016-05-07 13:44:42] BitMEX_Wally : BTCDJS: If the price moves against you, i.e. goes up. Do you want to get out of the position too?
[2016-05-07 13:45:04] BitMEX_Wally : If so, you can set a `Stop Market` order to buy with a Stop Price above the current price
[2016-05-07 13:45:35] BTCDJS : yes if the price goes from here to 459.36 i want to take profit
[2016-05-07 13:46:09] BitMEX_Wally : BTCDJS: You are short, so that would not be take profit
[2016-05-07 13:46:11] BitMEX_Wally : That would be a stop loss
[2016-05-07 13:46:40] BTCDJS : yeah I mean i don't want to lose too much
[2016-05-07 13:47:02] BTCDJS : so stop market?
[2016-05-07 13:47:07] BitMEX_Wally : To be honest, if you look at the order book the ask price is currently 459.47
[2016-05-07 13:47:23] BitMEX_Wally : So if you closed out right now you wouldn't be able to get your stop loss price of 459.36
[2016-05-07 13:47:34] BTCDJS : oh shit rigt
[2016-05-07 13:47:40] BTCDJS : that was just a quick look
[2016-05-07 13:47:48] BTCDJS : on chart
[2016-05-07 13:48:03] BitMEX_Wally : So yes, `Stop Market` order, same quantity, and then enter a higher Stop Price and click `Set Buy Stop`
[2016-05-07 13:48:34] BitMEX_Wally : Then if the mark price goes above the Stop Price the order to buy will trigger, but beware that it make execute at a higher price, this is called slippage
[2016-05-07 13:48:51] BTCDJS : its green
[2016-05-07 13:49:09] BTCDJS : ok
[2016-05-07 13:49:31] BTCDJS : Thank you very much
[2016-05-07 13:49:47] BitMEX_Wally : Green = Buy, Red = Sell. But in China they use Red and Blue
[2016-05-07 13:49:50] BitMEX_Wally : BTCDJS: You're welcome
[2016-05-07 13:50:04] BTCDJS : yeah for got i was in short
[2016-05-07 13:50:13] BTCDJS : there is a fee
[2016-05-07 13:50:32] BTCDJS : more than what i have
[2016-05-07 13:50:42] BitMEX_Wally : Your limit order will earn the maker rebate so you'll get paid 0.025%
[2016-05-07 13:50:57] BitMEX_Wally : Your stop loss will pay the taker fee (if it executes) which is 0.075%
[2016-05-07 13:51:06] BitMEX_Wally : No additional fees
[2016-05-07 13:51:28] BTCDJS : ah ok thanks again
[2016-05-07 14:11:18] Applez : BitMEX_Wally: Hi Wally just sent an email to support. Can we private message? via this chat?
[2016-05-07 14:25:56] REKT : Liquidated long on `XBT48H`: Sell 750 @ 458.87
[2016-05-07 14:26:21] REKT : Liquidated short on `ETHXBT`: Buy 13 @ 0.02
[2016-05-07 14:36:51] BitMEX_Wally : Applez: I replied to your email. Unfortunately we don't have private chat on here yet
[2016-05-07 15:06:07] Applez : Thanks Wally :) Emailed you back
[2016-05-07 15:07:03] BitMEX_Wally : Same :)
[2016-05-07 16:44:58] viptrader : ETH going to 195
[2016-05-07 17:00:42] alchemist : is Arthur ever in the chat?
[2016-05-07 17:15:28] alchemist : my charts have gone retarded and i cant fix them
[2016-05-07 17:20:12] BitMEX_Sam : alchemist: He's on Hong Kong time so usually not online this time of day
[2016-05-07 17:20:16] BitMEX_Sam : I can help you though - two things you can do:
[2016-05-07 17:20:35] BitMEX_Sam : 1 is to right-click the chart and click `Reset Chart`
[2016-05-07 17:21:00] BitMEX_Sam : The other is to scroll to the bottom of https://www.bitmex.com/app/preferences and click the button to clear your browser storage
[2016-05-07 17:24:48] alchemist : boom perfect
[2016-05-07 17:24:50] alchemist : thanks
[2016-05-07 17:52:47] slacknation : are there plans to make everything perpertual?
[2016-05-07 17:54:37] BitMEX_Sam : Yes, but we are going to take our time on ETHXBT to ensure we build the best product we can.
[2016-05-07 18:00:38] slacknation : does ethxbt rebalance every week?
[2016-05-07 18:09:16] BitMEX_Sam : Yes
[2016-05-07 18:16:06] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETHXBT`: Sell 145 @ 0.02
[2016-05-07 18:16:20] sleger : BitMEX_Sam: let's say i open a ethxbt position using X of margin, and somehow i make 10X of profits using this 1X of margin, can I withdraw the 10X (assuming my position has not changed so it is still using 1X of margin requirement) ?
[2016-05-07 18:18:19] BitMEX_Sam : Yes, after rebalance, profit is realised and can be withdrawn
[2016-05-07 18:18:28] BitMEX_Sam : Same as with other contracts.
[2016-05-07 18:19:22] sleger : ok so that's why it cant diverge too far from mark price
[2016-05-07 18:24:06] j8 : if it does, it will get arbed once a week, but the next week it could just diverge again right away, if there was a good reason for the divergence in the first place. so the only way to close your arb is to leave liquidations behind
[2016-05-07 18:24:33] BitMEX_Wally : If it diverges too much we will move to a daily rebalance
[2016-05-07 18:24:37] BitMEX_Wally : Or 100% unlock or something
[2016-05-07 18:30:18] j8 : it basically takes the place of a claim your position function.. it's just weird that the official way to do that is to let yourself be liquidated.. also you avoid any DPE resulting from that as it affects next week's positions
[2016-05-07 18:32:02] sleger : BitMEX_Wally: daily rebalance makes more sense as dpe should be as localized as possible
[2016-05-07 18:34:04] BitMEX_Wally : Ok, we'll move to daily rebalance if needed
[2016-05-07 18:34:39] sleger : was there any reason to choose weekly over daily when you launched it ?
[2016-05-07 18:35:07] BitMEX_Wally : Because we modelled it on ETH7D
[2016-05-07 18:35:22] BitMEX_Wally : Same tickSize, leverage, maintenanceMargin, etc
[2016-05-07 18:35:33] sleger : ok
[2016-05-07 18:35:56] BitMEX_Wally : Maybe we'll move to 50x `ETHXBT` with daily rebalance
[2016-05-07 19:05:13] BTCDJS : BitMEX_Wally: I bought at 459.52. Set a limit sell order at 464.36. And I set a stop market at 460.something
[2016-05-07 19:05:26] BTCDJS : It doesn't show where my stop limit is
[2016-05-07 19:05:53] BTCDJS : Where can I see that?
[2016-05-07 19:07:46] BitMEX_Wally : Next to `Active Orders` there is a tab called `Stops`
[2016-05-07 19:07:54] BitMEX_Wally : If the Stop has not been triggered it will be there
[2016-05-07 19:08:15] BTCDJS : ahh Right thank you
[2016-05-07 19:16:40] twistedline : can you add ltc perpetual contract please
[2016-05-07 19:16:43] twistedline : I will use it
[2016-05-07 19:30:09] BitMEX_Wally : We might add `LTCXBT`
[2016-05-07 19:32:08] sleger : i'd vote for that as well above ltcusd
[2016-05-07 19:32:19] rapidtrades : ^same
[2016-05-07 19:32:36] rapidtrades : i agree with the muslim above me
[2016-05-07 19:33:44] messiaen8844 : +1
[2016-05-07 19:34:17] messiaen8844 : LTC will either moon or sink very hard, good oportunity in the horizon
[2016-05-07 19:39:25] rapidtrades : im in food coma
[2016-05-07 19:39:50] rapidtrades : or food poisoning...guess ill know in few hrs
[2016-05-07 20:13:48] BTCDJS : BitMEX_Wally: My wallet balance just went from 0.23 to 0.14
[2016-05-07 20:14:00] BTCDJS : Wtf happened to the rest?
[2016-05-07 20:14:08] BitMEX_Wally : You can see a break down here: https://www.bitmex.com/app/wallet
[2016-05-07 20:14:14] BTCDJS : all I did was try to enter a position
[2016-05-07 20:15:36] BTCDJS : BitMEX_Wally: I dont understand mate
[2016-05-07 20:15:44] BTCDJS : what is that saying?
[2016-05-07 20:15:54] BTCDJS : Cash settlement?
[2016-05-07 20:16:13] BTCDJS : pending
[2016-05-07 20:16:39] rapidtrades : BTCDJS: are u that roofer guy
[2016-05-07 20:16:45] BTCDJS : yes
[2016-05-07 20:17:11] BTCDJS : Don't say anything if you just fancy being a dick
[2016-05-07 20:18:18] rapidtrades : dam...u were much friendlier the last time u were here
[2016-05-07 20:18:57] rapidtrades : are u asian lol
[2016-05-07 20:20:04] BitMEX_Wally : BTCDJS: You sold XBT48H and then 30 minutes later you bought XBT48H
[2016-05-07 20:20:26] BitMEX_Wally : So you have realisedPnl on XBT48H
[2016-05-07 20:22:21] BitMEX_Wally : See your trade history here: https://www.bitmex.com/app/tradeHistory
[2016-05-07 20:22:46] BTCDJS : rapidtrades: funny
[2016-05-07 20:30:13] BitMEX_Wally : Who wants to trade `LTCXBT`? https://testnet.bitmex.com/app/trade/LTCXBT
[2016-05-07 20:31:41] BTCDJS : I don't see anything on there that tells me where the balance of my wallet went. I had enough in my wallet to make an order of 2000contracts. But a notice came up telling me I have insufficient money. then my wallet balance flashed from 0.24 to 0.14 @BitMEX_Wally
[2016-05-07 20:33:17] BitMEX_Wally : BTCDJS: Look at your trade history for XBT48H
[2016-05-07 20:33:30] BitMEX_Wally : Look at the price you sold at, then the price you bought at. Then use the profit calculator
[2016-05-07 20:38:14] BTCDJS : BitMEX_Wally: So because I switched from a short position 2000 to a long position 4000 I got raped?
[2016-05-07 20:38:50] BitMEX_Wally : No, it looks like you went from short 2000 to flat
[2016-05-07 20:40:52] BTCDJS : I tried to go from a short 2000 to a long 4000 turn make a U-turn. But it said I had insufficient balance. So then I just made it 2000. And that is what cost me? If id just closed market I wouldn't have lost so much?
[2016-05-07 20:41:50] BTCDJS : If I tried to do that in 24H would it still have happened ?
[2016-05-07 20:42:27] BitMEX_Wally : It all depends what price you trade at
[2016-05-07 20:42:27] BTCDJS : Not getting on your case by the way. Just trying to figure out what not to do
[2016-05-07 20:42:58] habibi : BTCDJS: at what price u opened and closed position?
[2016-05-07 20:43:10] BitMEX_Wally : Basically you were short 2000 and then submitted a market order to buy, but the market price at the time was higher than your entry price
[2016-05-07 20:43:12] BitMEX_Wally : So you realised a loss
[2016-05-07 20:43:24] BitMEX_Wally : The jump in your wallet balance was due to your realised loss in XBT48H
[2016-05-07 20:44:09] BTCDJS : Right. Had that been a limit order. It would have turned out better?
[2016-05-07 20:44:24] BitMEX_Wally : Depends how quickly you wanted to trade
[2016-05-07 20:44:32] BitMEX_Wally : You can place a limit order at any price and wait
[2016-05-07 20:44:55] BTCDJS : my PNL was only -0.0086 when I tried to turn around
[2016-05-07 20:45:07] BitMEX_Wally : So that was your unrealised PNL
[2016-05-07 20:45:20] BitMEX_Wally : Which is marked to the underlying spot price
[2016-05-07 20:45:42] BitMEX_Wally : When you buy you buy against real orders in the market and get whatever price is available
[2016-05-07 20:46:02] BTCDJS : Ok. gotcha
[2016-05-07 20:46:27] BitMEX_Wally : So the underlying market maybe have been 461 something, but the ask price in the order book was 464 something
[2016-05-07 20:47:31] BTCDJS : It was the fact that I tried to do that with market order. I get what Im given. And what was available was those prices which didn't quite work out for me.
[2016-05-07 20:48:06] BTCDJS : Fair enough mate. Lesson learned
[2016-05-07 20:48:48] BTCDJS : when can I have my withheld profit? In 15 hours?
[2016-05-07 20:48:56] BitMEX_Wally : Yeah market orders can be dangerous. Too easy to FOMO in or out of a position
[2016-05-07 20:49:17] BitMEX_Wally : Yes in 15 hours time, but 50% of it may be unlocked in 7 hours time
[2016-05-07 20:49:32] BTCDJS : Cool. thanks
[2016-05-07 21:20:49] Thedude : BitMEX_Wally: Hey, are you still around?
[2016-05-07 22:18:03] Adriana : Guys, does anyone know why I can't press Set Sell Stop button, but can Set Buy Stop in Trailing Stop Market menu. Have an open long now
[2016-05-07 22:19:11] j8 : you probably need a negative trail value @Adriana
[2016-05-07 22:21:20] Adriana : j8: Thanks a lot! This is exactly what I needed
[2016-05-07 22:21:27] j8 : np
[2016-05-07 23:04:54] rapidtrades : boring
[2016-05-07 23:05:21] rapidtrades : chat needs more newbs QQing

[2016-05-07 23:12:16] BTCDJS : Your welcome
[2016-05-07 23:12:40] BTCDJS : newb*
[2016-05-07 23:14:14] micmix : BitMEX_Wally, BitMEX_Sam: can't login to testnet, getting bouncing logo followed by 'It appears BitMEX is having some trouble running on your system'. Clear Cache and Refresh doesn't help
[2016-05-07 23:16:32] BitMEX_Sam : Micmix: Thanks, I'm aware - a conflict with the new LTCXBT test we're doing. API should still be fine. I'll clear it up asap
[2016-05-07 23:17:09] micmix : BitMEX_Sam: thanks, plz let me know when to try again
[2016-05-07 23:17:51] rapidtrades : micmix: how many markets/instruments do u trade
[2016-05-07 23:18:42] micmix : rapidtrades: bitcoin everywhere and 5-6 alts on polo
[2016-05-07 23:19:08] micmix : and litecoin on okc
[2016-05-07 23:21:14] rapidtrades : ok cool
[2016-05-07 23:34:07] REKT : Liquidated short on `ETHXBT`: Buy 238 @ 0.02
[2016-05-07 23:46:42] rapidtrades : wat ^^^
[2016-05-07 23:46:58] rapidtrades : why 0.02?
[2016-05-07 23:50:29] j8 : needs more decimals @REKT @micmix
[2016-05-07 23:53:00] micmix : j8: yeah, will fix it soon
[2016-05-07 23:53:56] rapidtrades : micmix: are u discretionary or auto? not counting the mm stuff
[2016-05-07 23:54:31] micmix : 99% algo
[2016-05-07 23:54:50] j8 : looks like #1 on the leaderboard is not active.. their pnl hasn't changed even after the rebalance friday
[2016-05-07 23:57:29] rapidtrades : he dead now
[2016-05-07 23:57:48] rapidtrades : prolly Chiinese, the latest victim of lung cancer
[2016-05-08 00:01:58] BTCDJS : rapidtrades: For fuck sake. Im sick o these chinese jokes now. You know Im chinese right? You inconsiderate racist.
[2016-05-08 00:02:51] rapidtrades : hahaha
[2016-05-08 00:03:09] rapidtrades : if u know they're jokes why are u letting it get to u :)
[2016-05-08 00:05:14] soljeroen : .
[2016-05-08 00:05:19] BTCDJS : rapidtrades: Us chinese are sensitive that way. Its because we have small penises.
[2016-05-08 00:06:12] rapidtrades : can't argue with that logic^
[2016-05-08 00:06:42] habibi : u'r dumping lvl of trollbox that even china started going down
[2016-05-08 00:07:13] rapidtrades : if they gave out degrees for common sense, you would get a f*cking PHD sir @BTCDJS
[2016-05-08 00:07:24] BTCDJS : habibi: I'll speak to my people. Two secs
[2016-05-08 00:08:09] habibi : rapidtrades: say sth brilliant, fast
[2016-05-08 00:09:29] BTCDJS : habibi: They say no. Dump to 454.30. Sorry
[2016-05-08 00:20:57] Cardiff : Hello Trollbox
[2016-05-08 00:21:16] Cardiff : I migrated from Polo after asking where to margin much, much higherj
[2016-05-08 00:21:45] Cardiff : Can someone walk me though how to deposit BTC and set up a trade in that account?
[2016-05-08 00:22:03] Cardiff : Or a link? Or video?
[2016-05-08 00:25:34] BTCDJS : Cardiff: Click on account. go to the left and click deposit. Scan QR or type or paste address and deposit bitcoin. After 1 confirmation your wallet will have said BTC. To trade 100X choose XBT24H
[2016-05-08 00:25:55] Cardiff : Uh Oh... I live in the US
[2016-05-08 00:26:12] BTCDJS : say you live somewhere else
[2016-05-08 00:26:31] Cardiff : oh
[2016-05-08 00:26:32] Cardiff : lol
[2016-05-08 00:27:09] Cardiff : Ah, I have it autolocked. I'm not as secretive as hackers
[2016-05-08 00:27:25] BTCDJS : or leave. start a new account with a different name and say you live somewhere else. Or do the right thing and don't trade here if you're from the US
[2016-05-08 00:27:41] micmix : j8: REKT is fixed
[2016-05-08 00:27:52] Cardiff : Do you know of another place better than Polo for margins?
[2016-05-08 00:28:10] Cardiff : BTCDJS: I never said I was from US in the first place
[2016-05-08 00:28:16] BTCDJS : Bitfinex
[2016-05-08 00:29:19] BTCDJS : Oh tustve known because of your IP address. You could use TOR? but I wouldn't recommend it because lying is bad
[2016-05-08 00:29:38] BTCDJS : must've*
[2016-05-08 00:38:12] habibi : Cardiff: i think u need to use vpn, fresh browser and stuff like that
[2016-05-08 01:05:10] micmix : BitMEX_Sam: was getAccount removed on testnet?
[2016-05-08 01:36:47] BitMEX_Wally : micmix: Yes, we removed it because it is redundant
[2016-05-08 01:37:15] BitMEX_Wally : You get pushed a full image when you subscribe to the WebSocket
[2016-05-08 01:37:26] BitMEX_Wally : Then you get all the updates over the WebSocket
[2016-05-08 01:38:13] micmix : BitMEX_Wally: got it, thanks. funding fee is not shown as a wallet transaction, only as a trade. is it added to the realised pnl?
[2016-05-08 01:38:33] BitMEX_Wally : Correct
[2016-05-08 01:39:15] micmix : ok, looks like I'm doing everything correctly
[2016-05-08 01:39:18] BitMEX_Wally : :)
[2016-05-08 01:40:07] BitMEX_Wally : We made it an execution and handled by the position logic so that if you have isolated margin we can take the funding fee out of that, so it is true isolated margin
[2016-05-08 01:40:31] micmix : yeah, makes sense
[2016-05-08 01:41:48] micmix : BitMEX_Wally: any ETA on the testnet fix?
[2016-05-08 01:42:28] BitMEX_Wally : Let me ask Sam, I think he's with his family at the moment though
[2016-05-08 01:43:32] micmix : that's ok, everyone need some family time  I'll do something else
[2016-05-08 01:43:51] BitMEX_Wally : Actually he's online
[2016-05-08 01:44:25] BitMEX_Wally : Fixing now
[2016-05-08 01:44:38] micmix : ok, cool
[2016-05-08 02:07:08] BitMEX_Wally : micmix: Testnet frontend is back up now
[2016-05-08 02:13:43] miramm1115 : BitMEX_Wally: :+1:
[2016-05-08 04:11:06] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETHXBT`: Sell 3 @ 0.02008 :punch: :whale:
[2016-05-08 04:28:36] podizzle3k : what happened to the twitter rektbot :(
[2016-05-08 04:48:03] zanza : anyone making that sweet .03% interest today?
[2016-05-08 04:51:28] BitMEX_Wally : I'm short 1 contract in testnet :D
[2016-05-08 04:52:53] micmix : zanza: I'm paying funding cost and making 3-4% daily
[2016-05-08 04:54:35] micmix : actually I don't really care if I'm paying or receiving the funding cost, it's small
[2016-05-08 05:02:24] micmix : BitMEX_Wally: any plans for FCT7D, like converting to swap or delisting?
[2016-05-08 05:02:47] micmix : maybe it will get some volume as a swap
[2016-05-08 05:02:54] arbitrage001 : micmix: any tips? what does funding cost mean?
[2016-05-08 05:03:26] arbitrage001 : i am happy with 1% daily
[2016-05-08 05:06:00] micmix : arbitrage001: if you're short ETHXBT at 12:00 UTC, you'll get paid 0.0328%
[2016-05-08 05:06:24] arbitrage001 : micmix: that is far from 1%%
[2016-05-08 05:08:01] micmix : arbitrage001: I run MM-like algo on ETH, can't really help you
[2016-05-08 05:08:15] arbitrage001 : micmix: i see
[2016-05-08 05:08:15] BitMEX_Wally : micmix: We'll probably de-list `FCT7D` and launch `LTCXBT`
[2016-05-08 05:09:15] micmix : BitMEX_Wally: yeah, should be better, you were a bit late listing FCT7D. it's in slow death mode until it gets pumped again
[2016-05-08 05:09:28] micmix : FCT I mean
[2016-05-08 05:10:10] BitMEX_Wally : Yeah we might re-launch it as a swap, need to think about the funding rate
[2016-05-08 05:10:33] BitMEX_Wally : I'll have a look at the Poloniex loan book
[2016-05-08 05:11:19] micmix : it's a bit tricky for smaller alts bc pumpers clean up the lending book as part of the pumping strategy
[2016-05-08 05:11:38] BitMEX_Wally : So no-one can short it? Haha
[2016-05-08 05:12:13] micmix : yep, that was done on the latest DOGE pump. you were lucky to reserve some at 4% daily
[2016-05-08 05:13:10] BitMEX_Wally : Sounds like a swap could help bring negative pressure to these pumps
[2016-05-08 05:14:01] micmix : yep, with enough liquidity it can
[2016-05-08 05:15:28] BitMEX_Wally : Also people could build up a short swap position hedged with long spot, and then beready to react to the pump
[2016-05-08 05:16:58] micmix : could be a viable strategy
[2016-05-08 05:36:18] podizzle3k : buying eth at 2 someone has a case of the fomos
[2016-05-08 05:38:15] mrp1nk : what a chopfest

[2016-05-08 06:46:25] micmix : alchemist: no, Wally is not Arthur. Arthur comes here often, not on the weekend though
[2016-05-08 06:47:42] BitMEX_Wally : podizzle3k: You can edit an order via the API
[2016-05-08 06:50:08] BitMEX_Arthur : Hi boys I'm always around
[2016-05-08 06:50:31] BitMEX_Wally : podizzle3k: Send filter of `{"open": true}` to https://www.bitmex.com/api/explorer/#!/Order/Order_getOrders to find the order

[2016-05-08 08:17:21] rapidtrades : i wouldn't remove anything but its their MO....prolly working with a MM that has limited funds
[2016-05-08 08:23:18] alchemist : how big is a leader market maker spread
[2016-05-08 08:25:33] alchemist : looks like some at + $1.50-$2.00 and some further out at +/- ~2%
[2016-05-08 08:45:21] mrp1nk : if it holds it is a nice long entry right here. tempted to btfd

[2016-05-08 21:57:17] a1 : why do contracts get increasingly expensive?
[2016-05-08 21:57:31] a1 : is it because of leverage?
[2016-05-08 21:58:48] j8 : it's because they're quanto futures
[2016-05-08 21:59:43] a1 : thanks
[2016-05-09 00:20:44] rapidtrades : u guys believe in the EMH?
[2016-05-09 01:05:53] knightsb : Hi everyone! I'm a newbie but have a couple of questions on bitmex which looks fantastic by the way!
[2016-05-09 01:07:31] knightsb : I see that Bitmex is incorporated in the Seychelles....do they have to have some sort of license to run the exchange from there?
[2016-05-09 01:07:41] rapidtrades : no
[2016-05-09 01:08:04] knightsb : oh okay...so no brokerage license needed in seychelles for bitcoing....thats cools
[2016-05-09 01:08:20] rapidtrades : you could say that i guess
[2016-05-09 01:08:42] knightsb : cool thanks!
[2016-05-09 01:12:34] rapidtrades : support is not very active on the weekends, they'll be here monday
[2016-05-09 01:14:47] BitMEX_Wally : Hi guys

[2016-05-09 02:28:06] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETHXBT`: Sell 3 @ 0.02054 :punch: :whale:
[2016-05-09 03:12:15] Sam0883 : dang low volume right now
[2016-05-09 05:39:37] Blargwaffle : I'm testing something, don't click the link: http://158.69.149.39/
[2016-05-09 05:40:30] Blargwaffle : BitMEX_* may want to look at https://www.jitbit.com/alexblog/256-targetblank---the-most-underestimated-vulnerability-ever/
[2016-05-09 06:26:20] BitMEX_Wally : Blargwaffle: Look at the HTML of your message: `<a rel="external,noreferrer,nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.jitbit.com/alexblog/256-targetblank---the-most-underestimated-vulnerability-ever/">https://www.jitbit.com/alexblog/256-targetblank---the-most-underestimated-vulnerability-ever/</a>`
[2016-05-09 06:27:00] BitMEX_Wally : We're already using `noreferrer` and `nofollow`
[2016-05-09 06:27:55] Blargwaffle : Seemed to work on my Chromium fork build and this copy of FF with various extensions.
[2016-05-09 06:30:47] Blargwaffle : My test link is harmlessly annoying, does it do anything on your browser?
[2016-05-09 06:30:57] BitMEX_Wally : We run a bug bounty program, please submit details to admin@bitmex.com
[2016-05-09 06:31:45] Blargwaffle : Alright.
[2016-05-09 06:35:51] REKT : Liquidated short on `ETHXBT`: Buy 700 @ 0.02117
[2016-05-09 06:56:28] BitMEX_Wally : Blargwaffle: I've fixed the vulnerability in testnet, please test
[2016-05-09 07:00:26] Blargwaffle : Looks like it's good over there.
[2016-05-09 07:00:35] BitMEX_Wally : https://testnet.bitmex.com/app/trade/XBTUSD
[2016-05-09 07:02:07] BitMEX_Wally : OK I'm deploying the fix to prod
[2016-05-09 07:06:38] Blargwaffle : Ah, I see what happened.
[2016-05-09 07:07:30] BitMEX_Wally : :)
[2016-05-09 07:07:56] BitMEX_Wally : Email us and our CTO will review the severity and pay you bug bounty
[2016-05-09 07:08:18] Blargwaffle : Oh I have.
[2016-05-09 07:08:19] BitMEX_Wally : http://158.69.149.39/
[2016-05-09 07:08:41] Blargwaffle : Quick fix on your part, fine work.
[2016-05-09 07:09:32] BitMEX_Wally : Thanks for letting us know
[2016-05-09 07:09:48] Blargwaffle : Not a problem.
[2016-05-09 11:49:50] rapidtrades : how's it going fellas?
[2016-05-09 11:56:41] BitMEX_Wally : 25x LTCXBT is launching in 5 minutes: https://www.bitmex.com/app/trade/LTCXBT
[2016-05-09 11:57:08] BitMEX_Wally : Also we increased the leverage on ETHXBT to 33x, but no-one has noticed yet :)
[2016-05-09 12:00:53] rapidtrades : ok tnx
[2016-05-09 12:01:19] rapidtrades : welcome back LTC :)
[2016-05-09 12:03:00] BitMEX_Wally : We're using the `LTC` and `XBT` funding rates from Bitfinex. The fundingRate is currently `-0.0028% / day` (i.e. shorts pay longs)
[2016-05-09 12:06:09] tscha : was ltcxbt on testnet before? or did you just push it straight live?
[2016-05-09 12:06:36] BitMEX_Wally : It was on testnet for 36 hours
[2016-05-09 12:06:41] tscha : ah kk
[2016-05-09 12:06:51] BitMEX_Wally : It's a copy paste of ETHXBT really
[2016-05-09 12:07:05] BitMEX_Wally : Just using Bitfinex for the funding rates and settlement price instead of Poloniex
[2016-05-09 12:59:05] messiaen8844 : what the fuck in A50? mark price 9220, market maker operating 200 points below
[2016-05-09 12:59:14] messiaen8844 : bullshit
[2016-05-09 13:19:24] messiaen8844 : ??
[2016-05-09 13:31:52] zanza : no one trades that
[2016-05-09 13:32:16] BitMEX_Wally : Why not buy if it's cheap?
[2016-05-09 13:37:21] messiaen8844 : bought at a bad point, but fuck getting traped below liquidation point because its not tracking http://www.investing.com/indices/china-a50 sucks
[2016-05-09 13:39:59] messiaen8844 : if it goes in my favour, how can I garantee market maker won't just keep prices below that?
[2016-05-09 13:41:08] sleger : worst case may 30th you can take profit
[2016-05-09 13:42:34] BitMEX_Wally : Looks like the quotes are around the mark price again
[2016-05-09 13:42:39] BitMEX_Wally : Easy pickings
[2016-05-09 14:01:35] rapidtrades : wth is up with that contract
[2016-05-09 14:06:09] rapidtrades : euro is a f joke man....44 pips range
[2016-05-09 14:06:42] rapidtrades : this is what happens when bankers play with ur money
[2016-05-09 15:55:56] REKT : Liquidated short on `XBT7D`: Buy 300 @ 466.21
[2016-05-09 16:15:36] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETHXBT`: Sell 4700 @ 0.02017
[2016-05-09 16:23:51] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETHXBT`: Sell 1811 @ 0.01998
[2016-05-09 16:49:48] podizzle3k : 4700 on eth damn thats megarekt
[2016-05-09 16:50:04] podizzle3k : i feel ya breh
[2016-05-09 16:50:30] habibi : 3.6 btc on 33x :p
[2016-05-09 17:07:26] tscha : habibi: why 3.6?
[2016-05-09 17:17:13] habibi : looks like i checked wrong price tscha, little less about 2.9
[2016-05-09 17:22:11] tscha : habibi: why? to get liquidated at 0.02017, he must have entered his long position at ~0.0208 (or higher) to lose a little over 4 BTC (or more)
[2016-05-09 17:22:44] tscha : or I am not getting the new product, havent looked at it in detail
[2016-05-09 17:31:00] chromaticcr1 : same thing, higher leverage, with interest. nth really new i guess
[2016-05-09 17:34:00] BitMEX_Sam : It's pretty similar. Eliminating expiries is the salient difference
[2016-05-09 17:41:02] tscha : yeah I get the basics, just thought I'd be missing something if I was wrong on that example
[2016-05-09 17:41:08] tscha : but maybe I wasn't
[2016-05-09 17:57:46] BTCDJS : BitMEX_Sam: I tried to use a stop market as a stop loss. Based on wallys recommendation. But my stop didn't execute when I needed it. was this the right thing to use?
[2016-05-09 17:58:17] BitMEX_Sam : It executes based on the mark price because the mark price is used for liquidations - this may be the source of your confusion
[2016-05-09 18:00:11] BTCDJS : BitMEX_Sam: When would I use a trailing stop?
[2016-05-09 18:00:32] BitMEX_Sam : They're often used to lock in profits but get out if the price moves against you
[2016-05-09 18:01:15] BitMEX_Sam : Let's say you have a long position that's doing well. Let's say the price is 450 and you entered at 430. You can set a Trailing Stop Sell for -2.
[2016-05-09 18:01:50] BitMEX_Sam : When you create that order, the stop price is set to 448 `(450 - 2)`. But let's say the price keeps rising - your stop price will rise with it.
[2016-05-09 18:02:20] BitMEX_Sam : So the price hits 455. Your stop price is 453. Then the price starts moving against you. When it does, the trailing stop holds in place. So if the mark price goes <= 453, the stop will execute.
[2016-05-09 18:02:54] BTCDJS : so if Im long 463.62 and price moves up to 468. Do i set a trailing stop at lets say 465. I will lock in profits at 465 if it drops, but if price keeps moving up the stop will move up with it?
[2016-05-09 18:03:27] BTCDJS : gotcha
[2016-05-09 18:03:36] BitMEX_Sam : You don't set a trailing stop at a price, but an offset.
[2016-05-09 18:03:52] BitMEX_Sam : So if the current price is 468 and you set an offset of `-3`, the effective stop price would be 465.
[2016-05-09 18:03:55] BTCDJS : and I can set a limit order. have it execute. then set a trailing stop
[2016-05-09 18:04:01] BitMEX_Sam : Yes
[2016-05-09 18:04:21] mrp1nk : BitMEX_Sam: i have a small question: when i place a buy order at the same price another order is placed, then which one gets executed if someone sells into that? does only depend on the time, e.g. the oldest order gets executed first?
[2016-05-09 18:04:35] BitMEX_Sam : Yes, we do price/time priority
[2016-05-09 18:04:40] BitMEX_Sam : Oldest order gets first execution.
[2016-05-09 18:04:52] mrp1nk : ok, thx!!
[2016-05-09 18:04:55] BTCDJS : BitMEX_Sam: can I set it before execution?
[2016-05-09 18:05:10] BitMEX_Sam : Yes - you can set any kind of order (except close orders) at any time
[2016-05-09 18:08:12] BTCDJS : BitMEX_Sam: Ok sam would you mind walking me through this quick. Im new to this so I just want to understand it properly. I have set a limit order for 463.62 long. Obviously it hasn't executed yet. Now can I set a trailing stop at 466.62 Sell stop?
[2016-05-09 18:08:17] BTCDJS : is that right?
[2016-05-09 18:09:10] BitMEX_Sam : Again you do not set trailing stops at a price
[2016-05-09 18:09:12] BitMEX_Sam : You set them at an offset
[2016-05-09 18:09:33] BitMEX_Sam : You also have it backwards - you set a stop to get out of a bad position, not to take profit
