This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2015-12-27 20:15:13] SnackyCoins : in the green yes but given we're sideways it should only be a couple dollars
[2015-12-27 20:16:28] SnackyCoins : last time there was a $6 premium we were going up pretty rapidly
[2015-12-27 20:23:15] habibi : lel wtf is wrong with that premium on 24 today :D?

[2015-12-27 20:40:23] SnackyCoins : sam is the fair price functioning normally?
[2015-12-27 20:40:46] SnackyCoins : there seems to be a really high premium considering the market action of the past 24h
[2015-12-27 20:41:01] wurstgelee : i dont see the problem
[2015-12-27 20:41:11] habibi : no 6k bot
[2015-12-27 20:41:16] habibi : thats why this spread on 24h

[2015-12-27 20:42:08] SnackyCoins : during sideways market, at 24h contract OPEN we usually see maybe $2
[2015-12-27 20:42:23] wurstgelee : fair price is not fixed by that basis interest
[2015-12-27 20:42:30] SnackyCoins : $7 premium is what i would expect to see if we were making daily upwards $15 moves or so
[2015-12-27 20:42:35] wurstgelee : orders play their part too
[2015-12-27 20:42:52] SnackyCoins : how do the orders play in?
[2015-12-27 20:42:59] SnackyCoins : fair price is basis + index
[2015-12-27 20:43:36] SnackyCoins : there is nothing any whale or user can do to affect the fair price of a contract on bitmex.com.. they'd have to play a spot market to change it
[2015-12-27 20:43:39] wurstgelee : BitMEX_Sam: do you have that calculation formula link at hand? ;)

[2015-12-27 20:43:58] habibi : guys go mm on 7 days
[2015-12-27 20:44:03] habibi : u see what happens without mm
[2015-12-27 20:44:47] wurstgelee : SnackyCoins: weighted mid price
[2015-12-27 20:44:56] SnackyCoins : this is new for me on this page 8)
[2015-12-27 20:45:19] wurstgelee : BitMEX_Sam: thanks
[2015-12-27 20:46:28] habibi : i mean 24h, not 7d
[2015-12-27 20:47:43] SnackyCoins : So the premium is high because we are bid heavy? How does this weight work when the contract is first issued?
[2015-12-27 20:49:22] BitMEX_Sam : The idea is that the fair should follow the market within reason, but make manipulation expensive and not allow cascading liquidations
[2015-12-27 20:49:47] BitMEX_Sam : I would have to double-check with Wally for the exact info but I believe that in the absence of a book (right at issuance), the contract follows a precalculated fair basis
[2015-12-27 20:50:01] wurstgelee : BitMEX_Sam: seems like it, yes
[2015-12-27 20:50:17] wurstgelee : right after opening, fair price is=index price for a while
[2015-12-27 20:50:27] BitMEX_Wally : wurstgelee: Yes you are correct
[2015-12-27 20:51:01] wurstgelee : yay \o/
[2015-12-27 20:51:15] BitMEX_Wally : The fair basis is adjusted based on the weighted market price: https://www.bitmex.com/app/dynamicProfitEqualisation#weighted-bid-ask-and-mid-price
[2015-12-27 20:52:08] SnackyCoins : So does this mean someone could push the fair price using a large order, but they would have to place it fairly close to the front of the book to be counted?
[2015-12-27 20:52:48] SnackyCoins : is this calcuated every tick?
[2015-12-27 20:53:01] wurstgelee : you could push it, but thats risky ands expensive
[2015-12-27 20:53:27] BitMEX_Wally : Yes you would have to use a large order, and hold it there over time
[2015-12-27 20:53:55] wurstgelee : it only works out if market moves in your direction
[2015-12-27 20:54:02] wurstgelee : otherwise you pay big time
[2015-12-27 20:54:23] SnackyCoins : OK that sounds good. I still think the premium is unusual 8) but I will just take it as data
[2015-12-27 20:54:40] wurstgelee : it reflects bitmex tarder's sentiment atm ;)
[2015-12-27 20:54:46] wurstgelee : *traders
[2015-12-27 20:54:51] BitMEX_Wally : :)
[2015-12-27 20:55:05] SnackyCoins : yeah we have quite a great deal of sentiment divergence between exchanges it would seem today :)
[2015-12-27 20:55:15] wurstgelee : hehe, yes
[2015-12-27 20:55:37] Swedishnut : any press is good press I guess :)
[2015-12-27 20:55:58] Swedishnut : turn up the Volume please and smooth stuff out would be great...
[2015-12-27 21:00:44] macios15 : 2730 in next h
[2015-12-27 21:18:22] TschavaTschigger : BitMEX_Wally: any ETA on when the amend-feature will go live? :)
[2015-12-27 21:20:04] BitMEX_Wally : TschavaTschigger: Lots of testing needed so in the new year
[2015-12-27 21:20:16] TschavaTschigger : ok, makes sense
[2015-12-27 21:34:37] REKT : Liquidated short on XBT24H: Buy 50 @ 428.83
[2015-12-27 22:00:39] wurstgelee : even when its going down we keep the premium of $5+
[2015-12-27 22:00:41] wurstgelee : lol :)
[2015-12-27 22:12:00] justinlooking : wtf is going on
[2015-12-27 22:20:10] wurstgelee : dunno
[2015-12-27 22:20:46] rapidtrades : hey is username login disabled now? I got prompted for email
[2015-12-27 22:20:53] rapidtrades : hey btw
[2015-12-27 22:21:50] BitMEX_Wally : Yes has to be email
[2015-12-27 22:22:01] rapidtrades : BitMEX_Wally: ok good, thanks
[2015-12-27 22:27:30] rapidtrades : that's a lot of premium...anyone else selling into that?
[2015-12-27 22:27:55] wurstgelee : else? there are no sells?
[2015-12-27 22:27:57] macios15 : ema 1h going to cross thats why
[2015-12-27 22:28:16] habibi : nope
[2015-12-27 22:28:24] habibi : one big guy with great long
[2015-12-27 22:29:10] rapidtrades : so china still hasn't catched up huh
[2015-12-27 22:29:12] wurstgelee : extreme thin orderbook tho
[2015-12-27 22:29:14] habibi : btw thats the time when isolated is much more safer
[2015-12-27 22:29:16] rapidtrades : what do u make of that?
[2015-12-27 22:29:25] wurstgelee : on the buy side
[2015-12-27 22:30:07] rapidtrades : fair prices is f-ed up as well
[2015-12-27 22:30:24] wurstgelee : yes, bc of orders obv
[2015-12-27 22:30:42] rapidtrades : it should tend towards the middle of bid/ask no?
[2015-12-27 22:31:07] wurstgelee : lol
[2015-12-27 22:31:08] REKT : Liquidated short on XBT24H: Buy 2965 @ 431.53
[2015-12-27 22:31:08] REKT : Liquidated short on XBT24H: Buy 50 @ 431.07
[2015-12-27 22:31:08] REKT : Liquidated short on XBT24H: Buy 3931 @ 431.64
[2015-12-27 22:31:16] wurstgelee : nice jumping fair price
[2015-12-27 22:31:18] wurstgelee : oO
[2015-12-27 22:31:25] habibi : lol fair price jumped 2 dollars \
[2015-12-27 22:31:32] wurstgelee : wtf?
[2015-12-27 22:31:44] rapidtrades : wally stop f*cking with the fair price :)
[2015-12-27 22:32:03] wurstgelee : wtf....
[2015-12-27 22:32:04] habibi : BitMEX_Wally: got position for 0.18 margin
[2015-12-27 22:32:13] tajnalaska : to the moon?
[2015-12-27 22:32:16] TschavaTschigger : the price is perfectly fine
[2015-12-27 22:32:16] habibi : get isolated mc and lost much twice at it, why?
[2015-12-27 22:32:39] wurstgelee : TschavaTschigger: it was below bids for a while, then suddenly jumped by $2
[2015-12-27 22:32:45] wurstgelee : doesnt seem normal to me
[2015-12-27 22:32:51] habibi : yep totally fucked up
[2015-12-27 22:32:56] chromaticcr : arb the fuck outta it
[2015-12-27 22:33:27] rapidtrades : so is finex API down or smth
[2015-12-27 22:35:25] TschavaTschigger : wurstgelee: it can be below bids, this is working as intented... it uses weighted bid-ask mid for the fair price
[2015-12-27 22:35:47] rapidtrades : finex is playing it cool
[2015-12-27 22:35:50] wurstgelee : TschavaTschigger: nothing happened in the orderbooks when it jumped
[2015-12-27 22:36:09] rapidtrades : wurstgelee: maybe time happened?
[2015-12-27 22:36:19] TschavaTschigger : the highest bid and the lowest ask don't have to change
[2015-12-27 22:36:42] wurstgelee : i have grouped by 1.00
[2015-12-27 22:36:50] wurstgelee : there wasnt any serious movement
[2015-12-27 22:37:24] habibi : BitMEX_Wally: BitMEX_Sam?
[2015-12-27 22:37:58] BitMEX_Wally : The market is moving quickly
[2015-12-27 22:38:10] habibi : there was no move
[2015-12-27 22:40:40] micmix : no 6k bot to stabilize the book
[2015-12-27 22:40:48] wurstgelee : thats probably it
[2015-12-27 22:41:00] rapidtrades : I see 6k?
[2015-12-27 22:41:01] haxmb : which idiot is marking 7 bucks over inex
[2015-12-27 22:41:04] chromaticcr : there is a 2k bot to stabalize the rocket to the moon
[2015-12-27 22:41:11] habibi : yea but 16 contracts buy made fair price
[2015-12-27 22:41:16] habibi : moved 2+ dollars?
[2015-12-27 22:41:42] wurstgelee : *all of a sudden, thats the point
[2015-12-27 22:41:47] wurstgelee : one tick to another
[2015-12-27 22:41:58] micmix : 6k with $8 spread, it's not the same 6k bot that was quoting with 40-50 spread
[2015-12-27 22:42:06] micmix : 40-50c
[2015-12-27 22:42:35] habibi : 0.8-1.2 recently
[2015-12-27 22:42:37] BitMEX_Wally : The fair basis is adjusted based on the depth weighted price of 10 XBT worth of risk on both sides
[2015-12-27 22:43:04] BitMEX_Wally : The depth weighted spread has to be less than 50 bps for there to be an adjustment
[2015-12-27 22:43:11] habibi : so how it could move 2 dollars without price moving?
[2015-12-27 22:43:18] habibi : ah so its all about orderbook?
[2015-12-27 22:43:24] wurstgelee : yes
[2015-12-27 22:43:32] chromaticcr : more like a bot that refer to the fair price where pumping up the market will have positive feedback loop to pump it further more
[2015-12-27 22:43:48] habibi : quite easy to manipulate right?
[2015-12-27 22:43:53] BitMEX_Wally : Most bots use some underlying spot reference
[2015-12-27 22:44:33] wurstgelee : the problem is the thin orderbook/absence of big orders
[2015-12-27 22:44:36] chromaticcr : infinity ammo
[2015-12-27 22:45:05] wurstgelee : combined with big spread bewteen bid and asks, it easy to manipulate
[2015-12-27 22:45:07] macios15 : da fuck
[2015-12-27 22:45:11] macios15 : 425 xD
[2015-12-27 22:45:18] chromaticcr : 425 and back up again
[2015-12-27 22:45:21] chromaticcr : agin
[2015-12-27 22:45:30] rapidtrades : dam missed it
[2015-12-27 22:45:40] chromaticcr : aaaaand bot wall is up again
[2015-12-27 22:46:02] wurstgelee : lol oO
[2015-12-27 22:46:15] chromaticcr : again...... *3
[2015-12-27 22:46:18] wurstgelee : such fuckery
[2015-12-27 22:46:20] macios15 : that 425 was only 1k
[2015-12-27 22:46:38] REKT : Liquidated long on XBT24H: Sell 1792 @ 427.70
[2015-12-27 22:46:45] wurstgelee : lololol
[2015-12-27 22:46:46] chromaticcr : lol
[2015-12-27 22:47:00] micmix : 2k bot was pushing up
[2015-12-27 22:47:04] wurstgelee : this is fucked up ;)
[2015-12-27 22:47:22] chromaticcr : if the bot get rekt there will be a lot of dpe for hell sure
[2015-12-27 22:47:42] micmix : reacted to my test bot with 20 contracts ;-) I stopped my test bot
[2015-12-27 22:47:50] wurstgelee : haha
[2015-12-27 22:47:53] micmix : should get to normal now
[2015-12-27 22:48:26] rapidtrades : well those were one of the quikest profits made here
[2015-12-27 22:48:28] rapidtrades : tnx...
[2015-12-27 22:48:40] chromaticcr : wonder who :)
[2015-12-27 22:49:04] macios15 : eating premium
[2015-12-27 22:49:07] chromaticcr : i am like 4k conts... already full for me
[2015-12-27 22:49:20] micmix : I'll have lunch and come back to test some more
[2015-12-27 22:49:21] haxmb : micmix
[2015-12-27 22:49:23] haxmb : turn back on plz
[2015-12-27 22:49:49] habibi : micmix: so ur bot pushed price so badly? :D
[2015-12-27 22:50:06] wurstgelee : no, his bot stopped another bot doing it ;)
[2015-12-27 22:50:29] micmix : it was a feedback loop bc of thin book
[2015-12-27 22:50:34] chromaticcr : for impact of 20 contracts
[2015-12-27 22:50:53] haxmb : turn it back on to make that other one buy too high
[2015-12-27 22:51:07] wurstgelee : happening again? :)
[2015-12-27 22:51:13] chromaticcr : yup
[2015-12-27 22:51:21] micmix : but 2k bot should have some better checks, it shouldn't be possible to push it with 20 contracts
[2015-12-27 22:52:09] rapidtrades : as a wise man once said
[2015-12-27 22:52:17] rapidtrades : ''It shouldn't be but it do!''
[2015-12-27 22:52:46] micmix : ok, lunch time, will be back to play with it more
[2015-12-27 22:52:48] haxmb : micmix: turn back on? <3
[2015-12-27 22:52:57] haxmb : pretty please ;)
[2015-12-27 22:53:02] wurstgelee : haha ;)
[2015-12-27 22:53:18] Gomezpl : yeah and tel which way you are turning it on d ;p
[2015-12-27 22:53:33] chromaticcr : 1 Contract whale detected
[2015-12-27 22:53:45] wurstgelee : some mad bot
[2015-12-27 22:53:50] Gomezpl : yeah
[2015-12-27 22:53:52] rapidtrades : sleger buying :)
[2015-12-27 22:54:00] TschavaTschigger : rapidtrades you finished coding your bot?
[2015-12-27 22:54:05] rapidtrades : ya
[2015-12-27 22:54:13] habibi : thats me, wanted to feel like rapidtrades :)
[2015-12-27 22:54:18] mwalshe99 : big moves
[2015-12-27 22:54:31] chromaticcr : that is rapid lol
[2015-12-27 22:54:38] habibi : yep
[2015-12-27 22:54:40] wurstgelee : well, let that bot drive the price up to $8-10 premium again, short, wait for circuit breaker, $$$ profit :P
[2015-12-27 22:54:53] rapidtrades : wurstgelee: yeah sounds good
[2015-12-27 22:55:01] chromaticcr : what about a rapid-clear-the-book with a fat finger market order XDD
[2015-12-27 22:56:12] wurstgelee : micmix broke the other bot
[2015-12-27 22:56:14] wurstgelee : :p
[2015-12-27 22:56:21] Gomezpl : genius:)
[2015-12-27 22:56:51] rapidtrades : fun times when bots go nuts :D
[2015-12-27 22:57:08] chromaticcr : SantaBot ;)
[2015-12-27 22:58:07] chromaticcr : and the boxing day (time) will be 13 hours later
[2015-12-27 23:04:17] rapidtrades : usd still above china....do u think they'll catch up after the new year?
[2015-12-27 23:04:26] rapidtrades : the pagans don't even do new year right?

[2015-12-27 23:50:54] TschavaTschigger : next hour, something crazy will happen
[2015-12-27 23:52:12] rapidtrades : cny still below usd....only okc usd on par with finex now

[2015-12-28 00:03:24] micmix : TschavaTschigger: was it yours 2k bot?
[2015-12-28 00:03:32] TschavaTschigger : micmix: nope
[2015-12-28 00:03:39] REKT : Liquidated short on XBT24H: Buy 200 @ 427.22
[2015-12-28 00:03:39] micmix : good :-)
[2015-12-28 00:03:51] Gomezpl : micmi dont play your just tell us first;p
[2015-12-28 00:04:15] Gomezpl : shot my keybord broken dont have "eks" letter
[2015-12-28 00:05:37] Gomezpl : sorry for misspelling nickname

[2015-12-28 00:06:04] Gomezpl : yeah but i have problem shitty keyboard:)
[2015-12-28 00:06:19] Gomezpl : earning time for new one:)
[2015-12-28 00:07:06] micmix : BitMEX_Wally, are you there?
[2015-12-28 00:12:14] BitMEX_Arthur : micmix: Hi
[2015-12-28 00:12:38] habibi : u are not the Wally he is looking for
[2015-12-28 00:12:48] Gomezpl : :)
[2015-12-28 00:14:14] micmix : BitMEX_Arthur: Hi Arthur! I have a suggestion for Wally: implement time smoothing for mark price to avoid $2-3 jumps when the orderbook is thin
[2015-12-28 00:14:36] micmix : will prevent unneeded liquidations
[2015-12-28 00:14:56] wurstgelee : micmix: good idea
[2015-12-28 00:15:52] TschavaTschigger : or just use more impact margin... 0.1 btc is not much, about 2500 contracts atm
[2015-12-28 00:16:09] habibi : 160+k contracts here
[2015-12-28 00:16:11] TschavaTschigger : but yeah, time smoothing is smart too
[2015-12-28 00:16:14] habibi : something is no yes today :D
[2015-12-28 00:17:45] micmix : something basic like exponential smoothing will work well, and he can test different smoothing factors to make sure it reacts fast enough
[2015-12-28 00:18:08] TschavaTschigger : you could use impact margin of 0.5-0.8 with lower weights for higher orderbook-levels
[2015-12-28 00:18:25] TschavaTschigger : something intelligent, right now it's plain simple and too easy to manipulate
[2015-12-28 00:19:53] micmix : yeah, I agree with @TschavaTschigger, it's easy to manipulate when liquidity is low as we saw today with 'battle of the bots' :-)
[2015-12-28 00:21:36] wurstgelee : premium is still odly high currently
[2015-12-28 00:21:50] wurstgelee : *D
[2015-12-28 00:26:13] micmix : BitMEX_Arthur: I also question the decision to allow hidden orders (on testnet now). You can get an orderbook that looks empty even though it's full of orders, and regular traders will be afraid to trade here. At least charge a fee for hidden orders like finex does.
[2015-12-28 00:32:01] SnackyCoins : lol @ traders will be afraid when literally every other exchange has hidden orders
[2015-12-28 00:33:41] BitMEX_Wally : micmix: Hidden orders will pay the taker fee
[2015-12-28 00:33:52] BitMEX_Wally : If you execute against a hidden order you get paid the maker rebate
[2015-12-28 00:35:14] BitMEX_Wally : I think Bitfinex do similar
[2015-12-28 00:38:29] SnackyCoins : I hope to find hidden orders 8)
[2015-12-28 00:39:13] micmix : BitMEX_Wally: that's good, finex used to charge a fixed fee for hidden orders, now it's just taker fee. what about iceberg orders?
[2015-12-28 00:40:17] BitMEX_Wally : Iceberg orders will pay the taker fee.
[2015-12-28 00:40:37] BitMEX_Wally : If you execute against a hidden portion of the iceberg order you get the maker fee for the whole amount
[2015-12-28 00:41:39] BitMEX_Wally : So if I have `orderQty=1000` and `displayQty=200` and you trade 100 contracts against the visible 200 you pay taker, but if you trade 300 contracts you get the maker rebate
[2015-12-28 00:42:47] micmix : got it. If I place an order with displayQty < orderQty will I be charged taker fee on the whole orderQty or only on the hidden portion?
[2015-12-28 00:43:28] BitMEX_Wally : If you have a non-null displayQty then you pay taker fee on the whole orderQty
[2015-12-28 00:44:00] micmix : ok, so MMs will not be able to use iceberg or hidden orders
[2015-12-28 00:44:06] TschavaTschigger : why would anybody use iceberg orders then?
[2015-12-28 00:44:20] BitMEX_Wally : micmix: MM correct, you have to pay to play
[2015-12-28 00:44:25] micmix : that's good for the orderbook appearence
[2015-12-28 00:45:00] BitMEX_Wally : Iceberg orders are not for market makers, they are for people building positions who do not want to show their hand to the market
[2015-12-28 00:45:32] TschavaTschigger : Ah... gotcha. didn't know that.
[2015-12-28 00:45:44] TschavaTschigger : that makes sense
[2015-12-28 00:48:16] BitMEX_Wally : Let me know what other order types or features you'd like
[2015-12-28 00:48:28] TschavaTschigger : no wait. why would anyone place an iceberg order (and pay taker on everything) when he can use a normal display=orderQty together with a hidden order (and collect maker on visible amount)?
[2015-12-28 00:49:34] BitMEX_Wally : TschavaTschigger: He can do that, the benefit is that the displayQty is automatically replenished after being filled
[2015-12-28 00:50:45] habibi : so basic bot can do it with rebate
[2015-12-28 00:51:11] BitMEX_Wally : One reason to use an iceberg order rather than a completely hidden order is that there is less chance of the hidden order being discovered
[2015-12-28 00:51:31] BitMEX_Wally : If I place a hidden order at the mid price (i.e. `displayQty=0`) it only takes 1 contract to ping to discover it
[2015-12-28 00:52:16] BitMEX_Wally : But if I have `orderQty=10000` and `displayQty=1000` (say) then you have to trade more than 1000 to find the hidden 9000
[2015-12-28 00:52:43] micmix : BitMEX_Wally: you can discover hidden order for free using ParticipateDoNotInitiate
[2015-12-28 00:52:51] BitMEX_Wally : micmix: Nope
[2015-12-28 00:53:06] BitMEX_Wally : ParticipateDoNotInitiate will execute against hidden orders and will get paid the maker rebate
[2015-12-28 00:53:19] BitMEX_Wally : ParticipateDoNotInitiate basically means 'do not pay taker fee'
[2015-12-28 00:54:17] micmix : yes, but if I place ParticipateDoNotInitiate order in the mid and get it executed right away I will know that there is a hidden order between the top bid/ask and the mid
[2015-12-28 00:54:35] micmix : but yeah, it will cost 1 contract
[2015-12-28 00:54:38] TschavaTschigger : you dont need a ParticipateDoNotInitiate f or this
[2015-12-28 00:54:42] BitMEX_Wally : As as if you entered a normal order
[2015-12-28 00:55:16] BitMEX_Wally : ParticipateDoNotInitiate does not let you sniff out hidden orders without trading. Same as a regular order.
[2015-12-28 00:55:24] BitMEX_Wally : I thought about this carefully
[2015-12-28 00:55:31] micmix : you are right, doesn't matter if I'm still paid maker rebate
[2015-12-28 00:55:36] BitMEX_Wally : :)
[2015-12-28 00:56:09] TschavaTschigger : so, comparing 1) iceberg against 2) normal + hidden... what's the benefit of 1) over 2)? the only reason I can think of is saving API calls. because everything you can do with 1), you can also do with 2), just cheaper
[2015-12-28 00:56:31] BitMEX_Wally : Yes, it saves API calls to babysit
[2015-12-28 00:56:37] TschavaTschigger : ah ok
[2015-12-28 00:56:48] micmix : you need a bot to replenish visible portion in case of 2)
[2015-12-28 00:57:06] macios15 : bitmex smae price when china was at 2700 fucking index
[2015-12-28 00:58:47] micmix : BitMEX_Wally: ok, another question. How is an IOC order executed against the hidden/iceberg? Same as regular limit order?
[2015-12-28 00:59:01] BitMEX_Wally : Yes
[2015-12-28 00:59:11] BitMEX_Wally : IOC just means that after eating through the order book the order is cancelled.
[2015-12-28 00:59:21] BitMEX_Wally : An IOC order can be a limit order or a market order
[2015-12-28 00:59:41] TschavaTschigger : BitMEX_Wally: when I place an iceberg, and it get's hit, and the display amount keeps replenishing... then I will pay taker for everything while display<orderQty right? and as soon as display==orderQty, I get paid maker?
[2015-12-28 00:59:53] TschavaTschigger : god the chat
[2015-12-28 01:00:14] TschavaTschigger : then I will pay taker for everything while display<orderQty, but after display==orderQty, I get paid maker right?
[2015-12-28 01:00:14] BitMEX_Wally : Iceberg orders always pay the taker fee
[2015-12-28 01:00:29] TschavaTschigger : oh, the < does not work without whitespace
[2015-12-28 01:01:25] BitMEX_Wally : BTW, do not send `displayQty` unless you want to pay taker fee. If you send `displayQty=orderQty` you will be wasting your money :)
[2015-12-28 01:01:35] TschavaTschigger : BitMEX_Wally: but not if the displayQty == orderQty, when the iceberg order got hit before and it kept replinishing.. then I will get maker, right?
[2015-12-28 01:01:57] TschavaTschigger : because then technically, it is no iceberg order anymore
[2015-12-28 01:02:28] BitMEX_Wally : Basically if you set a non null `displayQty` then the order always pays taker fee
[2015-12-28 01:02:46] BitMEX_Wally : Even if the `leavesQty` is less than `displayQty`
[2015-12-28 01:03:10] micmix : got it, never set displayQty :-)
[2015-12-28 01:03:42] BitMEX_Wally : micmix: Unless you want the snazzy feature of course :)
[2015-12-28 01:04:24] micmix : I will use it when getting rid of big positions
[2015-12-28 01:04:46] TschavaTschigger : this means that if displayQty == 1000 and orderQty == 4000, they hit 3000 (I pay taker of course), then 1000 are left (display and overall) and I also pay taker for that
[2015-12-28 01:05:20] TschavaTschigger : wouldn't it make more sense to set displayQty to null after the hidden amount is gone?
[2015-12-28 01:05:40] micmix : it would be more fair I guess
[2015-12-28 01:08:10] BitMEX_Wally : If people start using these orders and cancelling them once `leavesQty<displayQty` then I'll look into making the fee logic more complex
[2015-12-28 01:08:42] micmix : BitMEX_Wally: no batch order placement/amend for now?
[2015-12-28 01:08:43] BitMEX_Wally : If people start using these orders and cancelling them once leavesQty is less than displayQty then I'll look into making the fee logic more complex
[2015-12-28 01:09:06] BitMEX_Wally : micmix: No batch amend yet but it will come
[2015-12-28 01:09:44] micmix : Can't wait to stuff the orderbook with 10+ orders on both sides :-)
[2015-12-28 01:10:02] TschavaTschigger : this looks exiting overall
[2015-12-28 01:11:16] micmix : yes, thumbs up on the changes! OneCancelsTheOther and OneTriggersTheOther very useful, as well as order amend
[2015-12-28 01:15:07] BitMEX_Wally : :)
[2015-12-28 01:15:50] BitMEX_Wally : You can chain OTO orders together. The `clOrdLinkID` can link to another order's `clOrdID` (not just link to `clOrdLinkID`)
[2015-12-28 01:16:13] BitMEX_Wally : So you can have a bid that when executed places an offer, that when executed places a bid, etc etc. Poor mans market making bot
[2015-12-28 01:17:08] BitMEX_Wally : You can even have an OTO order that triggers a pair of OCO orders
[2015-12-28 01:18:08] BitMEX_Wally : Or multiple OTO orders that trigger one `clOrdLinkID` group
[2015-12-28 01:19:28] micmix : yeah, that's mind boggling. I'll have to think how to use something like that
[2015-12-28 01:20:57] BitMEX_Wally : They can even be used across different instruments. So a bid on XBU7D when executed triggers a sell on XBT7D, etc etc
[2015-12-28 01:23:30] TschavaTschigger : sounds very nice... my poor master thesis :(
[2015-12-28 01:24:51] micmix : can I provide more than one clOrdLinkID?
[2015-12-28 01:29:08] BitMEX_Wally : micmix: Only one at the moment
[2015-12-28 01:29:22] BitMEX_Wally : But it can target many orders with that clOrdLinkID
[2015-12-28 01:32:13] micmix : you mean that clOrdID doesn't have to be unique?
[2015-12-28 01:33:42] BitMEX_Wally : Ignore `clOrdID` for the moment. You can have 3 orders with the same `clOrdLinkID`. If the first order has `contingencyType=OneTriggersTheOther` then the subsequent 2 orders will start `NotTriggered` pending the first order being filled
[2015-12-28 01:33:43] micmix : not sure I understand what you mean
[2015-12-28 01:35:11] micmix : ok, got it. I thought clOrdLinkID should be equal to clOrdID of the target order
[2015-12-28 01:35:29] TschavaTschigger : I think, they dont have to do anything with each other
[2015-12-28 01:35:42] BitMEX_Wally : micmix: You can use them that way, but do not have to
[2015-12-28 01:36:02] BitMEX_Wally : If you have `clOrdLinkID` equal to the `clOrdID` of the target order then it will trigger that order.
[2015-12-28 01:36:18] BitMEX_Wally : I added this as an extra option so you could chain them together
[2015-12-28 01:36:29] TschavaTschigger : the cl0rdLinkID does not necessarily equal any cl0rdID of an order, it can just be meant for linking purpose, right?
[2015-12-28 01:36:36] BitMEX_Wally : TschavaTschigger: Correct
