This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2015-12-09 23:45:28] sleger : Or make your own tweet message with your own referral link instead of his
[2015-12-09 23:45:55] babybaby : guys are we going to 450 ?
[2015-12-09 23:46:08] habibi : babybaby = kingscrown
[2015-12-09 23:47:39] babybaby : psssst
[2015-12-09 23:47:50] micmix : I think if that guy is a real Satoshi, 1M coins are in trouble. The trust agreement says that the guys gets all coins from the trust 14 month after his partner's death, and his partner died 2 years ago
[2015-12-09 23:48:14] habibi : micmix: and still coins didnt move
[2015-12-09 23:48:16] wurstgelee : micmix: thats my point
[2015-12-09 23:48:18] wurstgelee : =)
[2015-12-09 23:48:37] micmix : that guy has big problems with Australian tax office, so there is a big chance they will seize the coins if they can
[2015-12-09 23:48:47] wurstgelee : if he is satoshi....
[2015-12-09 23:48:52] podizzle3k : irc chat bot is down again

[2015-12-09 23:49:41] micmix : yeah, it's a big if. I think Satoshi is group of 3-5 ppl and he might be one of them
[2015-12-09 23:49:44] wurstgelee : yep, thats the if
[2015-12-09 23:49:47] wurstgelee : =)
[2015-12-09 23:49:52] STRML : Doesn't appear so, podizzler3k
[2015-12-09 23:49:56] micmix : or at least he is one of the early miners
[2015-12-09 23:50:06] wurstgelee : i think thats it
[2015-12-09 23:51:01] habibi : micmix: still it can be faked info

[2015-12-09 23:54:21] wurstgelee : =)
[2015-12-09 23:55:33] habibi : ah sorry :) didnt notice
[2015-12-09 23:57:23] micmix : I can tell you one thing: the early Bitcoin source code points to someone from academia who's not a professional programmer. Most likely studied programming in late 80 - early 90.
[2015-12-09 23:58:15] micmix : I've been doing C++ for 20+ years and worked with ppl who write similar code
[2015-12-10 00:04:45] zanza : micmix: if he has half a brain, they won't be able to seize them
[2015-12-10 00:18:45] sleger : or maybe he doesnt want to spend 20 years in jail
[2015-12-10 00:19:08] laisee : I don't see the guy saying "I am satoshi" exactly,, just that he helped invent Bitcoin.
[2015-12-10 00:37:06] messiaen8844 : hi
[2015-12-10 00:41:51] laisee : howdy

[2015-12-10 05:41:12] BitMEX_Wally : micmix: We now publish an `id` on each liquidation so you can update the REKT bot to not report duplicates
[2015-12-10 05:44:37] REKT : Liquidated long on XBT24H: Sell 200 @ 412.95

[2015-12-10 06:51:16] laisee : not the names, of course. though that would be good entertainment ...
[2015-12-10 06:53:01] micmix : laisee: yeah, I might do something like that at some point. too bad names are not published :-)
[2015-12-10 06:56:56] laisee : :-) .. a "REKT winners board"
[2015-12-10 07:15:08] stevelim : I am attending Bitcoin inside conference in Korea.
[2015-12-10 07:26:27] laisee : I am satoshi, apparently.
[2015-12-10 08:00:30] zanza : I am Satoshi
[2015-12-10 08:01:06] wurstgelee : No, I am.
[2015-12-10 08:03:43] zanza : We all are Satoshi
[2015-12-10 08:22:43] laisee : where's my coins, I wonder?
[2015-12-10 08:27:54] zanza : its about FREEDOM
[2015-12-10 08:28:11] zanza : and INDEPENDENCE, not coins @laisee
[2015-12-10 08:38:10] laisee : one Million &btc; == freedom and independence :-/
[2015-12-10 08:38:43] laisee : until taxman finds you and the coins :-(
[2015-12-10 11:33:09] TschavaTschigger : that was an interesting trading day
[2015-12-10 12:23:41] podizzler3k : -_-

[2015-12-10 12:34:54] alb_gt : Hi there, 196 futs XBU I can bid up to 420, any interest ?
[2015-12-10 12:35:17] alb_gt : december, obviously
[2015-12-10 12:36:03] j8 : alb_gt: i can sell `XBTZ15` if you want
[2015-12-10 12:39:03] alb_gt : would prefer XBU thanks
[2015-12-10 12:39:37] alb_gt : XBU is kinda dead...
[2015-12-10 12:41:39] j8 : yeah, most people prefer the higher leverage and lower fees on XBT.
[2015-12-10 12:46:29] sleger : makes no sense to trade xbu so close to maturity
[2015-12-10 12:46:45] alb_gt : I am a bit stuck with a short on XBU... I guess I will have to wait until 125 dec indeed
[2015-12-10 12:47:48] j8 : yup, been stuck there before, which is why i stopped trading it actually. gotta learn the hard way i guess
[2015-12-10 12:48:09] alb_gt : exactly
[2015-12-10 12:50:24] j8 : if you have the margin to spare and it's really going up you might be better off hedging with longs on XBT
[2015-12-10 12:50:47] REKT : Liquidated long on XBT24H: Sell 10000 @ 414.65 <b>MEGA-REKT</b>
[2015-12-10 12:51:27] habibi : lel
[2015-12-10 12:51:38] podizzler3k : wut now?

[2015-12-10 13:05:38] REKT : Liquidated short on XBT24H: Buy 2000 @ 417.47
[2015-12-10 13:09:58] REKT : Liquidated short on XBT24H: Buy 30 @ 422.03
[2015-12-10 13:21:51] habibi : BitMEX_Wally: withdraws soon ?
[2015-12-10 13:36:38] messiaen8844 : lol, mega rekt
[2015-12-10 13:38:22] STRML : habibi: They're being broadcast now
[2015-12-10 13:38:36] habibi : STRML: ty for info
[2015-12-10 13:40:37] messiaen8844 : bot could have daily rekt ammount
[2015-12-10 13:40:43] messiaen8844 : longs vs shorters
[2015-12-10 13:40:52] messiaen8844 : so we can do daily metrics on that ;)
[2015-12-10 13:42:17] STRML : Definitely something we'd like to add to the /stats endpoint in the future
[2015-12-10 13:44:24] habibi : hm does electrum doesnt allow to send uncomfirmed coins anymore?
[2015-12-10 13:51:41] STRML : I can't imagine any wallet allowing sending of unconfirmed coins
[2015-12-10 13:51:48] STRML : No node would accept it
[2015-12-10 13:52:59] STRML : Perhaps it could have built-in support for queuing it up once it does confirm, though.
[2015-12-10 13:53:51] habibi : Strml its not about actepting, it was a normal practise back in days like half a year ago, i sent them even not comfirmed and as far as they got comfirmation they got both comfirmed on the my adress and destination
[2015-12-10 13:53:52] habibi : Strml its not about actepting, it was a normal practise back in days like half a year ago, i sent them even not comfirmed and as far as they got comfirmation they got both comfirmed on the my adress and destination
[2015-12-10 13:54:00] habibi : lel sorry for double
[2015-12-10 13:54:42] habibi : i am not sure but i am thinking my trezor did allow me to do it
[2015-12-10 13:54:47] habibi : as well
[2015-12-10 13:55:44] habibi : and thats how some exchanges were working, they were instantly taking off upcoming coins away without comfirmations
[2015-12-10 13:59:28] STRML : I think you may be confused, you can't spend a tx until it has confirmed
[2015-12-10 14:00:25] STRML : Some exchanges were doing instant deposits by either trusting the unconfirmed tx once it had reached a certain % of network propagation, or in the case of Gox, actually taking your privkey and sweeping the wallet
[2015-12-10 14:00:37] STRML : "instant" being a not quite exact term ofc
[2015-12-10 14:03:21] habibi : pmed u on irc
[2015-12-10 14:14:49] STRML : habibi: Sorry, didn't get it, bouncer is acting up
[2015-12-10 15:12:16] j8 : doesn't bitcoin core let you spend unconfirmed change?
[2015-12-10 15:13:56] TschavaTschigger : j8: this would be against pretty much every principle of bitcoin
[2015-12-10 15:14:58] REKT : Liquidated long on XBT24H: Sell 596 @ 418.99
[2015-12-10 15:18:12] wurstgelee : @TschavaTschigger you can change required confirmations in your own client ofc, wouldnt help you tho since the transaction would be rejected by other clients/the network
[2015-12-10 15:24:47] habibi : j8: electrum works good with unconfirmed, just first tx was messed up
[2015-12-10 15:27:56] j8 : yeah, i thought it was no problem.
[2015-12-10 15:32:51] TschavaTschigger : BitMEX_Wally: hey, you here?
[2015-12-10 15:40:42] slacknation : spending unconfirmed tx is baked in the protocol, nothing wrong with it
[2015-12-10 15:45:27] habibi : yep, all good. basically u can even change the destination of sent coins or u could in past, using node that accept replace by fee
[2015-12-10 15:46:09] REKT : Liquidated long on XBT24H: Sell 987 @ 417.64
[2015-12-10 15:46:38] REKT : Liquidated long on XBT7D: Sell 21 @ 417.05
[2015-12-10 20:19:40] REKT : Liquidated long on XBT24H: Sell 407 @ 416.79
[2015-12-10 20:34:40] REKT : Liquidated short on XBT24H: Buy 17643 @ 418.49 <b>MEGA-REKT</b>
[2015-12-10 20:37:00] REKT : Liquidated short on XBT24H: Buy 1500 @ 421.07
[2015-12-10 20:38:00] REKT : Liquidated short on XBT24H: Buy 9826 @ 421.89
[2015-12-10 20:38:15] wurstgelee : the rektoning
[2015-12-10 20:38:34] habibi : actually this bot is pretty usefull
[2015-12-10 20:39:18] zanza : wow the mega rekt
[2015-12-10 20:39:43] zanza : First time spotted in the wild
[2015-12-10 20:40:34] BitMEX_Sam : We've got sticky IDs on those in testnet, will make it to production soon
[2015-12-10 20:41:09] zanza : 31k
[2015-12-10 20:41:12] zanza : order up
[2015-12-10 20:43:12] wurstgelee : wtf is happening
[2015-12-10 20:43:28] wurstgelee : orders $2 below fair price?
[2015-12-10 20:43:54] wurstgelee : k, fair price was stuck
[2015-12-10 20:43:56] wurstgelee : oO
[2015-12-10 21:03:12] TschavaTschigger : BitMEX_Sam: hey sam. If I make withdrawals, is each new withdrawal sent from a different bitcoin address? and if yes (which I suppose), is this unique address somehow relatable to my account from outside?
[2015-12-10 21:04:00] BitMEX_Sam : TschavaTschigger: It's not strictly predictable, we send from whichever address we control has the funds
[2015-12-10 21:04:10] BitMEX_Sam : Optimizing for smaller txs
[2015-12-10 21:04:36] BitMEX_Sam : Each account has a unique deposit address, but there is no outside information relating an address to an individual account
[2015-12-10 21:06:16] TschavaTschigger : ok thanks
[2015-12-10 21:07:23] sleger : smells like tax fraud
[2015-12-10 21:09:08] habibi : do u know tax office that feels comfortable enought to seek into blockchain for users like us?
[2015-12-10 21:14:07] sleger : habibi: what do you mean by "users like us?"
[2015-12-10 21:15:16] habibi : lets say 1-200 btc holders/profit makers
[2015-12-10 21:15:41] sleger : not everyone falls into that category
[2015-12-10 21:15:51] habibi : sorry then
[2015-12-10 21:16:19] sleger : i was just pointing out that his questions were very close to "can I use your exchange to launder bitcoins"
[2015-12-10 21:20:30] TschavaTschigger : lmao.. just because I care about privacy this doesn't mean I don't pay taxes or "launder money"
[2015-12-10 21:20:33] TschavaTschigger : please guys.. really
[2015-12-10 21:21:10] sleger : Sorry, I was not accusing you directly of anything. But wondering what legitimate use there could be to do this.
[2015-12-10 21:21:54] sleger : Transferring from one wallet to another that you can create already anonymize the owner of the bitcoins. What you want to remove here is traceability.
[2015-12-10 21:22:07] habibi : simple:whaat if my gf connects me to my bitmex withdraw address so she will know that i have actually money and lied to her! :D
[2015-12-10 21:22:37] habibi : but still there is no such one adress, bitmex uses deposit addresses as storage ones
[2015-12-10 21:22:57] habibi : i think there is not exchange that do such a thing as u mention TschavaTschigger
[2015-12-10 21:23:04] habibi : no*
[2015-12-10 21:23:39] TschavaTschigger : habibi: yeah, makes sense. it's cool. just wanted to ask how they handle it.
[2015-12-10 21:26:26] habibi : btw i love polish exchanges, we have pretty new option to withdraw money from casual atm's all over the Poland for like 3$/6$ depends on ammount. with no verification at exchanges till 15k eur is passed yearly
[2015-12-10 21:28:01] habibi : just send coins to exchange, sell them, make a atm withdraw, get a pin on telephone, enter it at atm, get money.
[2015-12-10 21:28:33] TschavaTschigger : habibi: wait what? you can withdraw your bitcoins as euro-cash from atm without verification? that's completely insane
[2015-12-10 21:29:05] habibi : basically as a poland zloty, but limits are said in euro due to its european AML and KYC laws
[2015-12-10 21:29:56] habibi : yea, polish exchanges are fighting hard, they used to not require verification, then every single one required, and now its again without on some of them
[2015-12-10 21:30:35] habibi : and thats not insane, thats great. better option than dealing with localbitcoin buyers
[2015-12-10 21:31:44] BitMEX_Sam : That's pretty impressive. There are some ATMs around the US but they usually operate the other way around
[2015-12-10 21:31:51] TschavaTschigger : as soon as there is real money withdrawal involved, every exchange needs to have verification imho
[2015-12-10 21:31:52] BitMEX_Sam : And have a pretty ridiculous spread.
[2015-12-10 21:32:11] habibi : i mean when u do withdraw u enter whole ur data like name/adress and phone number. but its just for 3rd party withdraw company require

[2015-12-10 21:37:34] TschavaTschigger : on the other hand.. if one wants to sell bitcoins for fiat without identity check, he could just use localbitcoins.com
[2015-12-10 21:39:42] habibi : yep thats the old school way :p but working good as well, just always lower price than exchanges like 3-5% - profit of buyers

[2015-12-11 02:29:09] zanza : I think rapidtrades moved to Finex
[2015-12-11 02:31:56] sleger : you saw a trade for 0.004 btc ?

[2015-12-11 03:10:00] laisee : still holding DOGE ... woof woof
[2015-12-11 03:10:30] jung1 : but all that pump and dump shitcoins still exist
[2015-12-11 03:10:40] jung1 : I found exchange called yobit
[2015-12-11 03:10:55] jung1 : and they add like one new coin per week
[2015-12-11 03:11:01] micmix : laisee: nice, I'm still shorting DOGE from 100+ satoshi :-)
[2015-12-11 03:11:25] jung1 : today coin called ANAL wa pump around 5500%
[2015-12-11 03:11:42] laisee : micmix> damn, taking pennies from pocket every day ...
[2015-12-11 03:13:03] cekseh : Rekt bot died?
[2015-12-11 03:13:19] micmix : I like pennies, they jingle nicely :-)
[2015-12-11 03:14:02] jung1 : cekseh: nah. rapidtrades go away and everyone else make stoploss
[2015-12-11 03:14:09] jung1 : so theres no margin calls
[2015-12-11 03:14:22] cekseh : Ahh now I get it
[2015-12-11 03:14:29] micmix : no, REKT bot looks good, we cleared all high-margin shorts by now
[2015-12-11 03:14:34] jung1 : micmix: same. But like 2y ago was real wild west of altcoins
[2015-12-11 03:14:57] jung1 : new coin every week
[2015-12-11 03:15:03] jung1 : huge pumps
[2015-12-11 03:15:41] micmix : jung1: yep, I remember. I started trading alts a bit later, March 2014
[2015-12-11 03:16:06] micmix : crazy times, 200% daily P&L :-)
[2015-12-11 03:16:30] jung1 : now most of projects make crowdfunding and then disappear
[2015-12-11 03:16:44] jung1 : then they make coin, pump it and dump it
[2015-12-11 03:16:57] jung1 : free market at it finest
[2015-12-11 03:18:21] micmix : yep, only few ppl are really innovating in the altcoin space. and I think most useful innovations will end in bitcoin anyway
[2015-12-11 03:18:29] micmix : * end up in bitcoin
[2015-12-11 03:19:48] jung1 : I think that bitshares, ethereum, xrp and maybe dash are here to stay
[2015-12-11 03:20:18] jung1 : but people dont want innovation. they need stable, boring coin for everyday use
[2015-12-11 03:20:20] laisee : heh, funny how some bitcoin developers dump on "alt" coins but they take the features into Bitcoin still.
[2015-12-11 03:21:00] jung1 : now is good price for eth imo
[2015-12-11 03:21:18] jung1 : also Im rebought some xrp
[2015-12-11 03:21:41] jung1 : '16 will be awesome
[2015-12-11 03:21:50] jung1 : another pump
[2015-12-11 03:21:53] jung1 : another satoshi
[2015-12-11 03:21:56] laisee : yep, ETH might possibly make it
[2015-12-11 03:24:00] jung1 : and always some new coin could appear. Like applecoin or something from western union/ebay
[2015-12-11 03:26:15] laisee : I believe banks are getting ready for that possibility. Imagine Apple wants to run it's own payment network & coin to do business globally. Game changer .
[2015-12-11 03:28:01] j8 : they already struggle with getting people to use apple pay. how does introducing a new currency help that
[2015-12-11 03:28:50] jung1 : some discount in apple store
[2015-12-11 03:28:53] jung1 : dunno
[2015-12-11 03:29:08] jung1 : but its easier to make coin if you have community
[2015-12-11 03:29:18] jung1 : than make community if you have coin
[2015-12-11 03:29:30] zanza : Moon boys?
[2015-12-11 03:30:11] jung1 : looks like gree dildo soon
[2015-12-11 03:30:33] 24hourz : they can't match btc hashrate of the network
[2015-12-11 03:32:26] zanza : bitcoin hash rate is out of control lately
[2015-12-11 03:32:28] j8 : the gift card industry is alive and well. if there's some solution like coloured coins that reduces costs for them they might do it
[2015-12-11 03:32:55] jung1 : yep
[2015-12-11 03:33:02] laisee : j8> Apple use it for their payments instead of fiat. Large companies/Banks have massive treasury operations that could use netting instead of moving fiat.
[2015-12-11 03:33:33] REKT : Liquidated short on XBT24H: Buy 3750 @ 425.96
[2015-12-11 03:33:55] jung1 : gift cards/tokens/loyality points it doesn not matter if it can transfer value
[2015-12-11 03:35:30] j8 : laisee: but why do it in a currency associated with apple and not something universal?
[2015-12-11 03:37:25] jung1 : look at paypal. they also have something like own currency. they just move numbers into their excel
[2015-12-11 03:37:42] j8 : there is already apple stocks. throwing apple dollars into the mix seems unnecessary.
[2015-12-11 03:38:51] j8 : jung1: sure, apple already has this too
[2015-12-11 03:39:27] laisee : j8> less friction, less cost to run your own currency.
[2015-12-11 03:39:51] jung1 : so you know. Basicly for average citizen there is no need for new currency but better payment system
[2015-12-11 03:40:23] j8 : if it has a floating value, there are spreads / fees at every exchange
[2015-12-11 03:40:30] jung1 : people dont give a fck about economy and how money works
[2015-12-11 03:40:48] jung1 : they just want to move it fast and cheap
[2015-12-11 03:40:55] laisee : yes, but not if you are netting payments internally across your company.
[2015-12-11 03:42:40] laisee : j8> worked in one bank that had to process one Trillion dollars in gross payments each month. Big cost in moving money around inside the bank and managing risk etc.
[2015-12-11 03:43:03] ayy lmao : looks like the bitmex user count has double since a few weeks ago
[2015-12-11 03:43:08] ayy lmao : doubled
[2015-12-11 03:44:15] j8 : ok, wasn't thinking about internal transfers. maybe there's a use case
[2015-12-11 03:50:49] jung1 : ayy lmao: just started

[2015-12-11 08:28:38] coolcatgee : MM's made too much REKT Longs last months run up, gave them a little too much buffer
[2015-12-11 08:28:48] cekseh : I rather dislike making money right before bed
[2015-12-11 08:28:54] micmix : everyone on isolated margin already rekt :-)
[2015-12-11 08:28:56] cekseh : Makes it harder to sleep

[2015-12-11 08:29:32] cekseh : You can play isolated if you add margin and set stops
[2015-12-11 08:29:34] habibi : this walls on okc still
[2015-12-11 08:29:36] cekseh : no need to get rekt

[2015-12-11 08:30:29] habibi : or u simply play low leveraged cross
[2015-12-11 08:30:40] cekseh : what was the largest margin call on this move
[2015-12-11 08:30:46] habibi : so u wont get rekt if u wont be afraid of closing bad positions
[2015-12-11 08:31:23] wurstgelee : well, that tactical/fomo buying turned out to be great
[2015-12-11 08:31:25] micmix : let me check @cekseh
[2015-12-11 08:31:41] cekseh : If folks wanted low margin they would use finex

[2015-12-11 08:38:40] cekseh : ballsy to take a position that big on finex, rekt yourself trying to get out of it if you are in trouble

[2015-12-11 08:42:23] cekseh : Just cause you can use up to 100x doesn't mean you need to
[2015-12-11 08:42:27] habibi : its juust backed by whole account, but leverage is shown here
[2015-12-11 08:42:49] coolcatgee : this might be all the dip we get... china premium rising at 2.27%
