This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2017-02-27 19:00:08] rapidtrades : yeah it should be 0.15% min @sleger
[2017-02-27 19:00:24] j8 : it does rip you off by ~5 bps most of the time because of the clamp
[2017-02-27 19:00:41] sleger : https://www.bitmex.com/app/index/.XBTUSDPI
[2017-02-27 19:00:43] sleger : seems fine
[2017-02-27 19:00:50] sleger : its just an 8 hr average
[2017-02-27 19:00:55] sleger : there was some discount earlier too
[2017-02-27 19:00:59] rapidtrades : their self reported data seems fine? ok
[2017-02-27 19:01:10] sleger : bitmex doesnt make money on it
[2017-02-27 19:01:30] rapidtrades : just like they didn't take money on ZEC
[2017-02-27 19:01:38] wurstgelee : rapidtrades: is your short looking this bad now?
[2017-02-27 19:01:38] j8 : well the impact bid price is generally lower than best bid / last
[2017-02-27 19:01:43] wurstgelee : reslly?
[2017-02-27 19:01:45] sleger : its self reported but its minute by minute it s easy to check it is 0.246% last minute which is correct
[2017-02-27 19:01:46] wurstgelee : really also
[2017-02-27 19:02:05] rapidtrades : ok i'll keep an eye on it @sleger
[2017-02-27 19:02:32] wurstgelee : maybe u should first keep an eye on it and then come up with implied accusations
[2017-02-27 19:02:33] sleger : wouldnt make sense for bitmex to cheat on that
[2017-02-27 19:02:39] wurstgelee : not the other way round
[2017-02-27 19:02:48] wurstgelee : also what sleger just said
[2017-02-27 19:02:51] wurstgelee : nor benefit for bitmex
[2017-02-27 19:02:55] wurstgelee : *-r
[2017-02-27 19:03:17] rapidtrades : sleger: it seems to show exactly what im talking about tho
[2017-02-27 19:03:18] sleger : funding wont finance a moon ticket anyways
[2017-02-27 19:03:37] rapidtrades : min is 0.2-0.4% past 2 hrs and funding only went up from 0.01 to 0.05
[2017-02-27 19:03:44] wurstgelee : sleger: but thats what he wants :p
[2017-02-27 19:03:51] rapidtrades : things don't add up
[2017-02-27 19:04:13] sleger : rapidtrades: its 8 hours that matters
[2017-02-27 19:04:33] sleger : you can retrieve it on the same page click the api link just above the table
[2017-02-27 19:04:36] sleger : change 200 to 500
[2017-02-27 19:04:36] wurstgelee : 0.2 for 2h would raise the funding to 0.05 if the other 6 are 0
[2017-02-27 19:04:39] wurstgelee : it adds up....
[2017-02-27 19:05:11] sleger : the ripoff is when it reaches the CAP thats it
[2017-02-27 19:05:34] wurstgelee : either ripoff or get rid of 100x
[2017-02-27 19:05:36] wurstgelee : pick 1
[2017-02-27 19:05:40] wurstgelee : ;)
[2017-02-27 19:05:58] sleger : the second one
[2017-02-27 19:06:01] wurstgelee : ofc
[2017-02-27 19:06:02] wurstgelee : :D
[2017-02-27 19:06:30] wurstgelee : i would be fine with higher cap and lower lev
[2017-02-27 19:06:43] wurstgelee : but its what attracts the sheep the most, high lev
[2017-02-27 19:06:44] rapidtrades : ok i'll keep watching
[2017-02-27 19:06:57] wurstgelee : i wouldnt want to get rid of those either if i were bitmex
[2017-02-27 19:07:28] rapidtrades : i have a feeling its off by watching it past few months but maybe im wrong
[2017-02-27 19:07:49] wurstgelee : you have to look attractive for those post-ath newbs
[2017-02-27 19:08:09] cryptoyolo : wheres all the action?
[2017-02-27 19:08:10] wurstgelee : rapidtrades: you are :)
[2017-02-27 19:08:47] wurstgelee : also there would really be no benefit.....
[2017-02-27 19:10:21] j8 : rapidtrades: go to https://www.bitmex.com/chartEmbed?symbol=.XBTUSDPI and put a moving average on the 1-minute with period 480 for 8 hours, or like 430 for the session up until now
[2017-02-27 19:11:43] j8 : it's 5 bps higher than the predicted funding. that's because of the clamp
[2017-02-27 19:14:07] rapidtrades : im seeing 0.001 with 430 ma
[2017-02-27 19:14:26] j8 : yes
[2017-02-27 19:15:03] rapidtrades : i don't understand why its not moving up tho
[2017-02-27 19:15:24] j8 : it is but averaging takes time
[2017-02-27 19:15:26] rapidtrades : look at past 3 hrs, they're all around 0.30%
[2017-02-27 19:15:47] rapidtrades : ok u need to *100 for some reason
[2017-02-27 19:16:07] rapidtrades : so ma shows 0.1% while prediction funding says 0.05%....why is this?
[2017-02-27 19:16:24] sleger : clamp
[2017-02-27 19:16:32] sleger : dont remember why it was set to 0.05% though
[2017-02-27 19:16:33] aethlios : j8: ema is 0.15% and funding 0.055%
[2017-02-27 19:16:35] rapidtrades : whats a clam
[2017-02-27 19:16:44] sleger : some kind of seafood
[2017-02-27 19:16:45] rapidtrades : aethlios: u se sma
[2017-02-27 19:16:55] rapidtrades : ema places greater value on recent data
[2017-02-27 19:17:12] j8 : `Funding Rate (F) = Premium Index (P) + clamp(Interest Rate (I) - Premium Index (P), 0.05%, -0.05%)`
[2017-02-27 19:17:36] sleger : rapidtrades: whats a clam sleger: some kind of seafood <= better than trollbot joke
[2017-02-27 19:17:59] rapidtrades : j8: english?
[2017-02-27 19:18:02] sleger : j8: you remember why 0.05% ?
[2017-02-27 19:18:18] aethlios : sma 0.10%
[2017-02-27 19:18:29] rapidtrades : eactly 0.1% not 0.05
[2017-02-27 19:18:52] j8 : sleger: not sure, seems arbitrary
[2017-02-27 19:19:10] sleger : I think it was to avoid it to trigger for small premiums
[2017-02-27 19:19:14] sleger : or discounts
[2017-02-27 19:19:21] sleger : but im not sure it makes any real sense
[2017-02-27 19:20:06] j8 : the usual spread between impact bid and ask is probably at least that big
[2017-02-27 19:20:42] j8 : i get that it's better to use the interest rate when there's basically no premium
[2017-02-27 19:20:43] sleger : yes but its no reason to add/remove 0.05% on top of that
[2017-02-27 19:20:48] rapidtrades : so until we breakout above 0.05% funding is tone-downed somehow?
[2017-02-27 19:20:50] j8 : but yes that part is dumb
[2017-02-27 19:21:10] aethlios : rapidtrades: you have been clamped!!
[2017-02-27 19:21:21] sleger : says the guy with bids at 700
[2017-02-27 19:21:28] sleger : :D
[2017-02-27 19:22:16] rapidtrades : told u guys it feels off
[2017-02-27 19:22:27] j8 : rapidtrades: it's decreased by 0.05% when the premium minus interest is greater than 0.05%
[2017-02-27 19:22:38] Tetsuo : Sherlock rapid
[2017-02-27 19:23:11] j8 : and i told you why its "off" but also not any different from whats in the docs
[2017-02-27 19:23:32] sleger : let's make the docs great again
[2017-02-27 19:23:32] Dynamix : Fuck you BTC , you lost me all my hope to survive, Someone who can send me 0.01 btc to short 100x this shit ? :D
[2017-02-27 19:24:12] sleger : Dynamix: I wish but after spending 10k a night in miami, i'd rather save up
[2017-02-27 19:24:28] rapidtrades : j8: great so shorts are getting constant -0.05% per 8 hrs
[2017-02-27 19:24:29] Dynamix : sleger: Lololol, 10k a night you know hahha
[2017-02-27 19:24:32] rapidtrades : that's a stupid rule

[2017-02-27 19:26:21] MikeHunt : i think this may get dragged up to 1400+ before etf so the drop doesnt break the bull run
[2017-02-27 19:26:40] rapidtrades : no its already losing steam
[2017-02-27 19:26:53] MikeHunt : rapidtrades: there is a huge buy wall on okc
