This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2015-11-11 08:37:50] habibi : laisee: what was wrong?
[2015-11-11 08:38:00] habibi : anyway cheap premium here this morning
[2015-11-11 08:38:21] laisee : guessing ... but usually BFX has some issues when markets are fast.
[2015-11-11 08:38:49] laisee : consistent, in that way.
[2015-11-11 08:39:15] smagin07 : so how exactly does the pay out scheme work when I isolate my margin?
[2015-11-11 08:39:43] smagin07 : Say I have 50 shares and the XBT7D gains $10 and my margin is .15
[2015-11-11 08:40:12] smagin07 : And I'm long. I set my account to sell 50 shares at 535 after I bought at 525
[2015-11-11 08:40:31] habibi : order options->calculator
[2015-11-11 08:40:55] smagin07 : where's order options
[2015-11-11 08:40:56] smagin07 : ?
[2015-11-11 08:41:13] habibi : at order controls tab
[2015-11-11 08:41:35] habibi : back to 2130 now?
[2015-11-11 08:42:25] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : This is crazy
[2015-11-11 08:42:32] smagin07 : I don't even see order controls tab
[2015-11-11 08:42:55] smagin07 : ahh nvm got it
[2015-11-11 08:44:44] habibi : i already make a short map for u http://scr.hu/1xcl/m0t6c
[2015-11-11 08:45:02] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : habibi: LOL
[2015-11-11 08:48:02] smagin07 : hahaha easy enough!
[2015-11-11 08:48:05] smagin07 : thanks
[2015-11-11 08:48:14] smagin07 : but how come that doesn't take into account the margin?
[2015-11-11 08:48:15] habibi : np, u welcome :)
[2015-11-11 08:48:28] smagin07 : say I'm isolating my margin and its .2 xbt
[2015-11-11 08:59:22] smagin07 : anyone?
[2015-11-11 09:01:36] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : smagin07: What was your question again?
[2015-11-11 09:03:20] ethexio : what's with fullscreen trading view chart not updating?
[2015-11-11 09:04:17] smagin07 : say I've isolated my margin and it's .21
[2015-11-11 09:04:31] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : smagin07: Ok
[2015-11-11 09:04:38] smagin07 : I've bought 50 shares at 315.5 and say, hypothetically, cash out at 340
[2015-11-11 09:04:46] smagin07 : how are my profits calculated?
[2015-11-11 09:06:17] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : smagin07: (340-315.5)*.00001*50=.01225 BTC
[2015-11-11 09:06:20] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Before fees
[2015-11-11 09:06:27] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : More detail here https://www.bitmex.com/app/seriesGuide/XBT
[2015-11-11 09:06:41] smagin07 : fuck yes, you're the man, thank you
[2015-11-11 09:09:01] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : No problem :) If you pay full fees on both sides for that you'll have .00001*50*.0005*(315.5+340)=about .0002 BTC less
[2015-11-11 09:10:49] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : smagin07: If you place limit orders that go into the orderbook and buy and sell that way you will take advantage of the 0% maker fees. Opening or closing into the book incurs the 0.05% fee
[2015-11-11 09:13:06] BitMEX_Wally : If the bid is 321 and you place a sell order with a limit higher than that you will not pay fees
[2015-11-11 09:13:22] BitMEX_Wally : If the ask is 322 and you place a buy oder with a limit lower than that you will not pay fees
[2015-11-11 09:15:06] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: Good example, thanks :)
[2015-11-11 09:15:42] BitMEX_Wally : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: Thank you for helping to welcome newcomers :)
[2015-11-11 09:16:06] billyboy402 : stop limit order , are they stop lost with market close ... or limit close
[2015-11-11 09:16:38] SnackyCoins : Hey wally is there a reason the coloring of the tape is done based on the direction of the last traded price and not the direction of the taker's order?
[2015-11-11 09:16:55] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : billyboy402: They set a limit order but if that's below or above the bid or ask respectively it will act like a market order for as much as can be filled
[2015-11-11 09:17:27] billyboy402 : also when you use oisilate margin , when you get maegin call , does your order get fill at market or at the index price . ?
[2015-11-11 09:22:19] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : billyboy402: Not sure. That's a question for @BitMEX_Wally
[2015-11-11 09:25:41] habibi : billyboy402: first liquidation price is the one u get liq price, if it doesnt get filled and market price is moving its getting readjusted with new price to stop system loss
[2015-11-11 09:25:47] habibi : sth like that :p but its my theory
[2015-11-11 09:33:19] micmix : BitMEX_Wally: Hi Wally! Is it possible to enable other BVOL indexes like .BVOL2H and .BVOL30M? I would like to have those.
[2015-11-11 09:41:51] smagin07 : thanks guys, super helpful
[2015-11-11 09:43:50] smagin07 : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: so how come the .21 isolated margin wasn't included in that calculation above?
[2015-11-11 09:44:07] smagin07 : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: smagin07: (340-315.5)*.00001*50=.01225 BTC
[2015-11-11 09:44:08] smagin07 : that one
[2015-11-11 09:44:39] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : smagin07: The amount of margin you use doesn't affect profit, except for if you reach liquidation of course haha
[2015-11-11 09:47:42] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : smagin07: There's a formula somewhere for liquidation price somewhere but I can't seem to find it. @BitMEX_Wally?
[2015-11-11 09:48:02] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : smagin07: Short version is the number of contracts determine profit and loss, not the amount of margin
[2015-11-11 09:48:30] BitMEX_Arthur : Hi
[2015-11-11 09:49:03] BitMEX_Arthur : https://www.bitmex.com/app/dynamicProfitEqualisation
[2015-11-11 09:49:08] BitMEX_Arthur : Read the section on Liquidations
[2015-11-11 09:49:34] BitMEX_Arthur : https://www.bitmex.com/app/futuresContractFormulas
[2015-11-11 09:49:40] BitMEX_Arthur : For futures formulas
[2015-11-11 09:50:20] ethexio : holy smokes
[2015-11-11 09:50:27] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : ethexio: What?
[2015-11-11 09:50:34] habibi : btw were there any security breach during yesterday system suspend?
[2015-11-11 09:51:36] BitMEX_Wally : habibi: No security breach
[2015-11-11 09:52:44] BitMEX_Wally : It was an internal audit that failed. Basically a trader managed to go bankrupt by a few Satoshis
[2015-11-11 09:53:35] BitMEX_Wally : The exchange was suspended for a few minutes while we checked
[2015-11-11 09:53:51] habibi : ah okey. btw contracts at numer of 1 doesnt have liq price
[2015-11-11 09:53:58] BitMEX_Wally : The underlying cause was a small rounding error in the calculation of exit commission
[2015-11-11 09:54:23] BitMEX_Wally : habibi: If you only have 1 contract and have isolate margin disabled then it's entirely possible you have enough margin for the price to go 0 and not be liquidated
[2015-11-11 09:54:31] BitMEX_Wally : Hence your liquidation price is 0 or -.--
[2015-11-11 09:56:11] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: Ah a good old rounding error, interesting. Has that calculation been fixed?
[2015-11-11 09:56:34] habibi : so if 10k accounts would playing with 1 contract ;p?
[2015-11-11 09:57:39] kendang : good morning guys
[2015-11-11 09:57:46] BitMEX_Wally : habibi: Does not matter. Your liquidation price is calculated based on how much leverage your using. If I have 1 Bitcoin of margin I can go long 1 Bitcoin worth of contracts (i.e. 300 contracts at $333.00) and I will have a liquidation price of 0
[2015-11-11 09:57:47] habibi : hello
[2015-11-11 09:57:48] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : kendang: Good morning
[2015-11-11 09:58:34] habibi : BitMEX_Wally: ok, thought u dont calculate liq price at all for 1 contract at cross
[2015-11-11 09:58:57] BitMEX_Wally : :)
[2015-11-11 10:00:47] SnackyCoins : what do you guys think about coloring the recent trades based on the taker rather than the price's direction? :)
[2015-11-11 10:02:43] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: Not sure. What is the purpose of coloring them that way?
[2015-11-11 10:03:04] SnackyCoins : more info
[2015-11-11 10:03:41] SnackyCoins : coloring it based on the direction of the market order
[2015-11-11 10:04:14] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: I see. I'm just trying to imagine a situation in which that info is beneficial. Wouldn't it also be available already by monitoring the API?
[2015-11-11 10:04:20] SnackyCoins : i can already tell if the price is going up or down :) don't need a color for that
[2015-11-11 10:04:23] SnackyCoins : perhaps
[2015-11-11 10:04:24] BitMEX_Wally : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: We publish it explicitly on the API
[2015-11-11 10:04:26] BitMEX_Wally : `tickDirection` is the price movement
[2015-11-11 10:04:35] BitMEX_Wally : `side` is `Buy` if the taker was a buyer
[2015-11-11 10:04:55] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: Oh ok good to know!
[2015-11-11 10:05:42] SnackyCoins : It's easier to tell if we're getting a lot of buying or selling with that coloring
[2015-11-11 10:05:56] SnackyCoins : which could be useful, say lots of selling going on but price is holding
[2015-11-11 10:06:04] BitMEX_Wally : The colouring just follows the standard market practise on Reuters/Bloomberg etc
[2015-11-11 10:06:12] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: Want a script that prints out the information you're looking for?
[2015-11-11 10:06:24] SnackyCoins : do you have it on a git?
[2015-11-11 10:06:29] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: I could
[2015-11-11 10:06:47] BitMEX_Wally : `wscat -c wss://www.bitmex.com/realtime/websocket?subscribe=trade:XBT24H`
[2015-11-11 10:06:53] BitMEX_Wally : `< {"table":"trade","action":"insert","data":[{"timestamp":"2015-11-11T10:06:37.020Z","symbol":"XBT24H","side":"Buy","size":1,"price":327.27,"tickDirection":"PlusTick","trdMatchID":"88b82a76-32fe-f439-4e4e-bc473112cd4c","grossValue":327270,"homeNotional":0.0032727,"foreignNotional":1.0710565289999998}]}`
[2015-11-11 10:07:36] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: It would show the same data in the ticker plus the direction of the taker in a nice format. Same as Wally's example but printed nicely
[2015-11-11 10:07:46] BitMEX_Wally : We even put the `trdMatchID` on the `trade` so you can match it with your `execution`
[2015-11-11 10:08:07] SnackyCoins : I need to write my own anyway 8)
[2015-11-11 10:08:09] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: Very nice :)
[2015-11-11 10:08:52] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: Ok cool. Just thought I'd offer. Easier task for me right now than trying to decipher the positions stream haha
[2015-11-11 10:10:23] BitMEX_Wally : Yes please create some tools
[2015-11-11 10:10:33] BitMEX_Wally : Then you can try out ideas for us to incorporate
[2015-11-11 10:11:32] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: What kind of tools? I like making tools
[2015-11-11 10:14:02] BitMEX_Wally : An enhanced ticker for starters?
[2015-11-11 10:14:56] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: I'm on it
[2015-11-11 10:15:43] SnackyCoins : i've been wanting to do it with a userscript but i only know jquery as far as frontend goes. was gonna make something that uses the displayed tblk price and changes all your P&L to usd
[2015-11-11 10:16:07] BitMEX_Wally : SnackyCoins: That's a good idea
[2015-11-11 10:16:25] BitMEX_Wally : Also you could do one that changes all `USD` prices into `CNY` at the daily PBOC rate.
[2015-11-11 10:16:27] SnackyCoins : ya but jquery libs not loaded ;)
[2015-11-11 10:16:28] BitMEX_Wally : For our Chinese users :)
[2015-11-11 10:16:42] SnackyCoins : can't, xss
[2015-11-11 10:17:18] SnackyCoins : cny price would have to come from bitmex.com somewhere :)
[2015-11-11 10:17:21] BitMEX_Wally : Yeah, we're very strict about security. Have a chat with BitMEX_Sam when he's one, he might have some ideas
[2015-11-11 10:17:34] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: Good idea. I was thinking about showing a "real" PNL based on the cost of closing into the orderbook
[2015-11-11 10:17:54] SnackyCoins : Now THAT is neato
[2015-11-11 10:18:00] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: :)
[2015-11-11 10:18:10] habibi : bitfinex engine lagged again?
[2015-11-11 10:18:31] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : habibi: It does look very dead
[2015-11-11 10:18:45] habibi : bad, pump time
[2015-11-11 10:19:47] SnackyCoins : incoming upwards flash crash? 8)
[2015-11-11 10:19:55] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: lol sounds about right
[2015-11-11 10:20:09] billyboy402 : mental note dont ioslate margin , ur get fuck over with the market close
[2015-11-11 10:20:13] habibi : yea would be great active window/tab for entering closing position with pln calculated
[2015-11-11 10:21:57] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : habibi: Bitfinex is back. First move is to dump :p
[2015-11-11 10:22:56] billyboy402 : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: was bitfinex down ?
[2015-11-11 10:23:34] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : billyboy402: Not sure. It was at least frozen. Still doesn't seem totally fixed yet
[2015-11-11 10:24:01] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : billyboy402: Nvm maybe it's fixed. Can't tell
[2015-11-11 10:28:28] smagin07 : is there any way I can setup automatic purchase orders for tomorrows xbt24h?
[2015-11-11 10:29:05] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : smagin07: Not without a script of some sort. All orders are canceled upon expiry
[2015-11-11 10:29:15] smagin07 : shite
[2015-11-11 10:38:19] smagin07 : will the expiry ever have a minute/second countdown?
[2015-11-11 10:39:13] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : smagin07: It has a minute countdown once it's 30 minutes to expiry I believe
[2015-11-11 10:39:23] smagin07 : ahh okay cool
[2015-11-11 10:41:59] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : smagin07: XBT24H expires at 12:00 UTC each day as can be seen by clicking "Full Details..." or the expiry time, which now says "In an hour"
[2015-11-11 10:42:55] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : smagin07: Oh I just realized there's a countdown in the very upper right of the page as well
[2015-11-11 10:52:39] ethexio : prepare sharts
[2015-11-11 10:56:48] ethexio : prepared.
[2015-11-11 10:58:11] habibi : let id rain
[2015-11-11 10:58:31] habibi : it*
[2015-11-11 11:12:06] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : habibi: More like a light drizzle it seems
[2015-11-11 11:12:29] habibi : i hope so we wont go under 300
[2015-11-11 11:12:46] habibi : as long as we are above 315 its just a good healthy correction
[2015-11-11 11:13:05] habibi : but panic is panic :p who knows
[2015-11-11 11:13:25] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : habibi: Yep. Right now I'm not too concerned about 300
[2015-11-11 11:14:28] smagin07 : 300 won't last :P
[2015-11-11 11:15:06] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : smagin07: Haha we'll see
[2015-11-11 11:15:41] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : habibi: Were you here for amirmass going 50x short and losing his shirt?
[2015-11-11 11:21:28] habibi : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: u mean story when he was begging for donations ;p? or another one?
[2015-11-11 11:21:48] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Yep the guy who was begging for donations
[2015-11-11 11:22:18] habibi : yea remember that :)
[2015-11-11 11:22:22] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Think I found another one on Reddit who has been almost begging people to save his short lol
[2015-11-11 11:23:03] habibi : show :)
[2015-11-11 11:23:14] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : "All aboard the shorting train... we are leaving soonish... we expect to crash and burn..." 3 hours ago
[2015-11-11 11:23:57] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : "bears want the bulls to think that the bears have lost and buy all their shorts. Then they will dump it even lower..."
[2015-11-11 11:24:07] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : "ah the glorious bull trap is dissolving..."
[2015-11-11 11:24:36] habibi : 3 hours ago..which is 311-320, not that bad but still possible close it >320
[2015-11-11 11:24:40] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : "last chance to short before it goes under 300. all hands on deck!"
[2015-11-11 11:24:51] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : The last once I've posted are pretty much all right at the bottom
[2015-11-11 11:24:56] smagin07 : all hands here
[2015-11-11 11:25:10] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : "FOMO SHORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 9 hours ago
[2015-11-11 11:25:18] habibi : :D
[2015-11-11 11:25:37] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : This is a gold mine lol
[2015-11-11 11:26:08] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : "For those planning on shorting it might be a good idea to start at $320-300 and close at $250 or below for a cool $50-70 profit per coin." 5 hours ago
[2015-11-11 11:26:19] habibi : some people thinks they words/comments are so overpowered, but reality is diffrent :p
[2015-11-11 11:26:21] habibi : theirs*
[2015-11-11 11:27:24] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : habibi: Yep. I mean I feel bad for people who made a bad trade. I want everyone to succeed, but handling failure by getting worked up and trying to scare everyone else into saving your position instead of cutting your losses short I just can't understand.
[2015-11-11 11:27:49] smagin07 : I can, money brings out the weird in folks ;)
[2015-11-11 11:28:25] habibi : seems like red alerts
[2015-11-11 11:28:27] habibi : 2010
[2015-11-11 11:28:53] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : habibi: Agreed but this bounce seems to have legs too so I'm probably staying out
[2015-11-11 11:31:56] habibi : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: and u were extremly right

[2015-11-11 11:58:42] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : ethexio: Yeah that's sort of annoying, but it's fine. Ususally someone will take that and the one after it. I think it's someones MM bot they're testing with small amounts
[2015-11-11 11:59:31] ethexio : Of course
[2015-11-11 11:59:38] ethexio : 20sec.

[2015-11-11 12:11:10] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : oto_: It happens every day. Probably something to be aware of before trading
[2015-11-11 12:11:50] habibi : thats the nature of futures
[2015-11-11 12:35:33] floopfloop : oto_: yeah, how about not

[2015-11-11 13:53:14] sleger : roymalmberg: are they 2 times per day ? I thought it was only once one hour after settlement
[2015-11-11 13:53:35] TschavaTschigger : it's only once, 13:00 UTC
[2015-11-11 13:53:43] roymalmberg : sleger: agree
[2015-11-11 13:56:18] jung1 : ok my bad
[2015-11-11 14:11:32] jung1 : ging down?
[2015-11-11 14:13:33] BitMEX_Wally : jung1: Withdrawals are once a day at 13:00 UTC. But sometimes we might process some early
[2015-11-11 14:17:47] habibi : nice trap?
[2015-11-11 14:19:58] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : habibi: What kind of trap is the question. What do you think?
[2015-11-11 14:20:45] podizzler3k : probably gonna go sideways today
[2015-11-11 14:20:54] podizzler3k : id look for opportunities in eth or ltc
[2015-11-11 14:23:47] habibi : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: bear trap i think
[2015-11-11 14:24:08] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : habibi: That would be nice
[2015-11-11 14:25:11] jung1 : btc is amazing. doubled price and go back to previous level in 3 weeks
[2015-11-11 14:35:18] TschavaTschigger : jung1: thats why we love the coin
[2015-11-11 14:36:11] jung1 : someones bot get craz

[2015-11-11 14:40:09] jung1 : ehh 300 in this week

[2015-11-11 14:42:09] habibi : hour?
[2015-11-11 14:42:10] jung1 : I though that we go to300 in 2-3 weeks
[2015-11-11 14:42:18] jung1 : but its fine
[2015-11-11 14:42:26] jung1 : im short since 321
[2015-11-11 14:42:32] TschavaTschigger : dumping hard
[2015-11-11 14:42:34] TschavaTschigger : wow
[2015-11-11 14:42:50] TschavaTschigger : 300 in like 3 hours max
[2015-11-11 14:42:53] jung1 : so let it fall
[2015-11-11 14:46:02] jung1 : funny
[2015-11-11 14:46:19] jung1 : almost same scenerio like with ltc ponzi
[2015-11-11 14:46:33] nickhnt : 275 first target
[2015-11-11 14:47:00] nickhnt : if it breaks then 240-250
[2015-11-11 14:47:17] nickhnt : but lets see if 300 holds
[2015-11-11 14:47:31] jung1 : 300 will be psychological barier
[2015-11-11 14:55:24] jung1 : bitmex has onl 287 users now?
[2015-11-11 14:55:40] kendang : jung1: seems like it
[2015-11-11 14:56:06] jung1 : so theres a lot of whales if we generate so huge volume
[2015-11-11 14:56:12] nickhnt : yeah better than i thought
[2015-11-11 14:56:21] nickhnt : thouth there it was 50 user max lol
[2015-11-11 14:56:29] nickhnt : thought*
[2015-11-11 14:56:43] habibi : BitMEX_Wally: users are also bots? or excluding bots?
[2015-11-11 14:57:44] BitMEX_Wally : Not sure, let me ask Sam
[2015-11-11 14:58:13] billyboy402 : be great if it could have some limit trailing stops
[2015-11-11 14:59:12] kendang : billyboy402: i second that
[2015-11-11 14:59:15] BitMEX_Sam : habibi: They're separate
[2015-11-11 14:59:27] BitMEX_Sam : That's people currenty online
[2015-11-11 14:59:30] BitMEX_Sam : currently*
[2015-11-11 14:59:35] kendang : BitMEX_Sam: are some more advanced order types in the pipeline?
[2015-11-11 14:59:39] habibi : BitMEX_Sam: ok, ty
[2015-11-11 14:59:41] BitMEX_Sam : kendang: Yes
[2015-11-11 15:00:24] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Sam: How are the number of bots measured?
[2015-11-11 15:00:45] BitMEX_Sam : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: By the number of processes connected directly to the websocket, as opposed to through the gateway the website uses
[2015-11-11 15:01:02] BitMEX_Sam : It's an inexact measurement of course but a good approximation
[2015-11-11 15:01:03] kendang : i saw people here posting the join link with their referral . how do i get my link and how much do i get for referring someone?
[2015-11-11 15:01:07] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Sam: Cool, that was my guess :)
[2015-11-11 15:01:15] BitMEX_Sam : kendang: See https://www.bitmex.com/app/affiliates for more info
[2015-11-11 15:01:43] TschavaTschigger : BitMEX_Sam: any plans to place orders through websocket?
[2015-11-11 15:01:51] jung1 : kendang: here is your. I generated for you
[2015-11-11 15:02:07] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : jung1: lol
[2015-11-11 15:02:08] jung1 : /register/CunK1W
[2015-11-11 15:02:18] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : It's a trick
[2015-11-11 15:02:24] jung1 : no
[2015-11-11 15:02:27] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : kendang: go to https://www.bitmex.com/app/affiliates
[2015-11-11 15:02:28] BitMEX_Sam : TschavaTschigger: No, at least not for a long time - http's request/response semantics would have to be duplicated over WS and I don't believe it's worth the time
[2015-11-11 15:02:33] jung1 : 100% legit
[2015-11-11 15:02:34] BitMEX_Sam : You'll get the same latency if you use keep-alive
[2015-11-11 15:02:43] kendang : jung1: nice try
[2015-11-11 15:04:03] kendang : what do you guys think about bitgold.com?
[2015-11-11 15:04:17] kendang : i have some gold there but dont trust it 100%
[2015-11-11 15:04:50] jung1 : have also
[2015-11-11 15:05:09] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : "Gold Bullion is the century's best performing currency" Don't think so. That would be bitcoin
[2015-11-11 15:05:28] jung1 : finex is dumping
[2015-11-11 15:06:25] habibi : coz of hobi
[2015-11-11 15:14:36] TschavaTschigger : 2 hours ago I said "300 in 3 hours"... one more hour
[2015-11-11 15:15:48] jung1 : yeah
[2015-11-11 15:16:01] jung1 : Im short since 321
[2015-11-11 15:16:19] jung1 : 356% so far
[2015-11-11 15:16:26] jung1 : will keep it a bit
[2015-11-11 15:16:26] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : jung1: Wow. Very nice
[2015-11-11 15:16:36] BitMEX_Sam : 100x leads to some pretty absurd ROE
[2015-11-11 15:19:04] TschavaTschigger : BitMEX_Sam: how do I make keep-alive requests? I just add "Connection: keep-alive" as a header param?
[2015-11-11 15:19:12] BitMEX_Sam : TschavaTschigger: Yep
[2015-11-11 15:19:19] TschavaTschigger : BitMEX_Sam: thanks.. true @ roe btw :D
[2015-11-11 15:19:28] BitMEX_Sam : Depends on your http library's support for it
[2015-11-11 15:19:30] BitMEX_Sam : What are you using?
[2015-11-11 15:24:47] TschavaTschigger : BitMEX_Sam: really, it depends on the library? why would adding headers have something to do with the library? i am using jersey for java
[2015-11-11 15:25:11] BitMEX_Sam : TschavaTschigger: Because just adding the header doesn't keep the connection alive, it's just text... the http library has to understand what keep-alive means
[2015-11-11 15:25:27] TschavaTschigger : BitMEX_Sam: well that makes sense
[2015-11-11 15:29:26] podizzler3k : yeah tell me about it i was +80% and about to take profit took a pissnow im -80%
[2015-11-11 15:29:28] TschavaTschigger : BitMEX_Sam: ok it is supported by default. will try to change it. although my bot is super-gentle anyway. thanks for info
[2015-11-11 15:29:41] BitMEX_Sam : Cool. Thanks
[2015-11-11 15:29:42] podizzler3k : looks like my youngins are having ramen noodles for dinner again
[2015-11-11 15:29:47] BitMEX_Sam : The big win is in not renegotiating HTTPS
[2015-11-11 15:39:32] j8 : some massive unfilled liquidations on okc quarterly

[2015-11-11 15:40:37] j8 : dangit
[2015-11-11 15:40:42] j8 : you get the idea
[2015-11-11 15:41:06] habibi : j8: only for logged?
[2015-11-11 15:41:14] j8 : mm maybe
[2015-11-11 15:41:26] podizzler3k : what is an unfilled liquidation
[2015-11-11 15:41:36] podizzler3k : i never understood that
[2015-11-11 15:41:46] podizzler3k : are they liquidated or not
[2015-11-11 15:41:52] cekseh : liquidations that are still in the order book, unfilled
[2015-11-11 15:42:01] cekseh : turned into socialized losses at time of settlement
[2015-11-11 15:43:54] j8 : http://imgur.com/WEXoQG4
[2015-11-11 15:44:40] j8 : that's over 3000 btc of losses at current market price
[2015-11-11 15:45:16] habibi : http://scr.hu/9xvi/y7e78 last line is lost in btc?
[2015-11-11 15:45:46] j8 : yes, that number changes depending where the market is
[2015-11-11 15:45:47] HotDogs : This due to the LTC fiasco?
[2015-11-11 15:46:28] podizzler3k : an unfilled liquidation the person still is margin called just the same right?
[2015-11-11 15:46:40] podizzler3k : except the unfilled balance goes to a haircut
[2015-11-11 15:48:56] j8 : HotDogs: unrelated, the quarterly just crashed extra hard.
[2015-11-11 15:50:44] j8 : podizzler3k: right, if its your liquidation it doesn't matter to you if it's filled. your liability is over
[2015-11-11 15:51:32] j8 : it matters to anyone that made a profit on the contract, but especially hedgers
[2015-11-11 15:51:44] TschavaTschigger : wow
[2015-11-11 15:53:23] podizzler3k : btc back on the struggle bus

[2015-11-11 15:57:20] habibi : keep eye on btc ^^
[2015-11-11 15:58:07] jung1 : yeah but I thnk It will be quite stable around 300 in next 2 months
[2015-11-11 15:59:04] jung1 : so if someone get addicted of wild ride
[2015-11-11 15:59:13] jung1 : altcoin margin is perect
[2015-11-11 16:00:07] podizzler3k : remember when btc was $326 at finex
[2015-11-11 16:00:09] podizzler3k : so long ago
[2015-11-11 16:00:10] podizzler3k : 15 minutes
[2015-11-11 16:04:45] jung1 : but could be also another scenerio of this rie. If someone realizethat bitcoin price could be easly manipulated likeMMM
[2015-11-11 16:05:06] jung1 : another ride could be quite soon
[2015-11-11 16:05:10] jung1 : and much bigger
[2015-11-11 16:17:46] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Glad I got my knife catching out of me earlier because there are no bounces here
[2015-11-11 16:19:35] habibi : there are but diffrents ones style then days before
[2015-11-11 16:22:03] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Not sure what to make of Finex. No selling, no buying

[2015-11-11 16:22:31] irbbqu : Pretty ridic
[2015-11-11 16:23:03] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : irbbqu:
[2015-11-11 16:23:03] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : i
[2015-11-11 16:23:07] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : It's a toxic relationship
[2015-11-11 16:23:27] habibi : finex dont move until some bigger poits are broken
[2015-11-11 16:23:34] habibi : or if panic happens :D
[2015-11-11 16:27:03] habibi : order book is in panic here
[2015-11-11 16:27:06] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Real glad I found my balls and took that long

[2015-11-11 16:31:02] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : *compared to previous days I remember
[2015-11-11 16:31:18] j8 : it's 100x better than it was
[2015-11-11 16:31:58] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : j8: haha
[2015-11-11 16:35:07] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Also impressed with lack of panic compared to the dump earlier. No sellers? I can't tell why
[2015-11-11 16:35:30] habibi : thats a important sign
[2015-11-11 16:35:42] habibi : but still bearish
[2015-11-11 16:35:42] j8 : still a lot of disbelief that sub 300 is happening
[2015-11-11 16:36:03] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : j8: I guess so. Good thing it's not yet :p
[2015-11-11 16:36:04] j8 : could be big capitulation if it does
[2015-11-11 16:36:51] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : j8: For sure. It will be everyone's "fuck this I'm done with bitcoin forever point right before we shoot back up to 350"
[2015-11-11 16:36:56] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : *It could be
[2015-11-11 16:37:34] habibi : u know people give up bitcoin
[2015-11-11 16:37:39] habibi : as long as there is another pump
[2015-11-11 16:37:48] habibi : always
[2015-11-11 16:38:32] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : habibi: Yep. Looks like China wants to keep going up. Long again
[2015-11-11 16:38:37] j8 : everyone expects a bounce at 300, so the maximum pain principle says it'll bounce at 275 below those guys stops
[2015-11-11 16:39:03] jung1 : habibi: good for us
[2015-11-11 16:39:17] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : j8: To be fair everyone expected a bounce at 400 too, then 360, then 330, then 315, then 300 :p
[2015-11-11 16:40:01] jung1 : I want to be fully load before halvin pump

[2015-11-11 16:41:36] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : jung1: You mean 12.5 btc?
[2015-11-11 16:43:25] jung1 : http://bitcoinclock.com/
[2015-11-11 16:43:40] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Loading up a huge long is so tempting. I count not 1, not 2, not 3, but 0 sellers
[2015-11-11 16:43:49] jung1 : yes yes 12.5
[2015-11-11 16:44:32] jung1 : same with eth
[2015-11-11 16:44:57] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : jung1: ETH is on the same halving schedule as BTC?
[2015-11-11 16:46:01] jung1 : no but in next year eth will go up. Augur , mcrosoft, ibm, internet of things
[2015-11-11 16:46:16] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : jung1: Ohh you mean price wise
[2015-11-11 16:46:16] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : That would be cool
[2015-11-11 16:46:22] habibi : depends what final inflation will be
[2015-11-11 16:46:23] jung1 : it will be huge project
[2015-11-11 16:47:13] habibi : if 0% POS then it will be good
[2015-11-11 16:47:19] habibi : if 50% yearly inflation
[2015-11-11 16:47:27] habibi : then i see it not so good in terms of price
[2015-11-11 16:47:28] jung1 : my types in '16 are eth, bitshares and ltc
[2015-11-11 16:48:07] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : jung1: Not BTC with the halving?
[2015-11-11 16:48:24] jung1 : habibi: but eth will be destroyed in every app made
[2015-11-11 16:48:35] jung1 : btc for sure
[2015-11-11 16:49:22] jung1 : but dont put all your eggs in one basket
[2015-11-11 16:49:57] jung1 : and you can play margin on several altoins on polo
[2015-11-11 16:50:16] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : jung1: Margin on BTC terrifies me enough thank you :)
[2015-11-11 16:58:11] roymalmberg : BitMEX_Sam: holy cow, I see my limit orders, perfect, keep the good work up
[2015-11-11 16:58:22] BitMEX_Sam : roymalmberg: In the chart?
[2015-11-11 16:58:26] roymalmberg : BitMEX_Sam: yea
[2015-11-11 16:58:45] BitMEX_Sam : Yeah, nice little perk. You can cancel them from there too, and drag to rearrange, doesn't change price though.
[2015-11-11 17:01:20] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I think I may have figured out what's going on and I'm excited because I couldn't make sense of it before. Look like an Adam & Eve double bottom to anyone else?
[2015-11-11 17:02:04] jung1 : maybe a bit
[2015-11-11 17:02:15] jung1 : ou thinkwe go up now?
[2015-11-11 17:02:16] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : On OKCoin. Not Finex as much
[2015-11-11 17:03:22] habibi : first res is 2000
[2015-11-11 17:03:23] TschavaTschigger : I will sue bitmex for sabotaging my master thesis.. i am doing nothing but trading atm :D
[2015-11-11 17:03:32] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : jung1: Up? Nah, we need a sacrifice to give up on bitcoin first :)
[2015-11-11 17:04:29] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Just kidding, sort of
[2015-11-11 17:06:05] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Out of my long. Profit more important than riding this to wherever it's going, even if that's up
[2015-11-11 17:06:51] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Yay good timing. All those 312 bids were gone in the blink of an eye
[2015-11-11 17:08:07] irbbqu : Seems like huobi finally is ready for some attempt at upside.
[2015-11-11 17:09:26] irbbqu : Huobi*
[2015-11-11 17:09:54] irbbqu : lol h.uobi

[2015-11-11 17:10:15] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Huobi and OKCoin are the two main Chinese exchanges
[2015-11-11 17:10:44] irbbqu : aaaha ^^
[2015-11-11 17:11:06] BitMEX_Wally : No swearing in the trollbox please
[2015-11-11 17:11:08] jung1 : I wil wait if it break 2000
[2015-11-11 17:11:18] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: Lol
[2015-11-11 17:11:29] BitMEX_Sam : You're the lucky winner, IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb
[2015-11-11 17:11:29] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Why u rain on parade OKCoin?
[2015-11-11 17:11:36] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Sam: The lucky winner of?
[2015-11-11 17:11:44] BitMEX_Sam : You receive pride, nothing more
[2015-11-11 17:11:52] BitMEX_Sam : Haha of discovering our newest replace
[2015-11-11 17:12:11] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Sam: Haha I think that credit goes to someone else but thank you
[2015-11-11 17:12:30] dynamike23 : huobi
[2015-11-11 17:12:35] dynamike23 : ;)
[2015-11-11 17:13:16] Swedishnut : wait the woodchipper is handing prizes?
[2015-11-11 17:13:28] TschavaTschigger : houbi is in the wordfilter too?

[2015-11-11 17:14:14] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Swedishnut: Very precious and desirable prizes called margin calls.
[2015-11-11 17:14:30] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : You get a margin call, you get a margin call, *you* get a margin call!
[2015-11-11 17:14:47] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Margin calls for everyone
[2015-11-11 17:14:58] BitMEX_Sam : Blame Oprah
[2015-11-11 17:15:05] Swedishnut : ooo I love those it is like anti christmas and makes you want to punch a cricket
[2015-11-11 17:15:06] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : OKCoin: We pull out all the stops for our customers

[2015-11-11 17:16:14] Swedishnut : LOL
[2015-11-11 17:16:17] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : habibi: Just a bad double entendre
[2015-11-11 17:19:19] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Didn't realize the idiom "pulling out all the stops" came from organs but that makes perfect sense now
[2015-11-11 17:41:49] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Woohoo I'm net positive again after losing 2 BTC to liquidation!
[2015-11-11 17:42:17] TschavaTschigger : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: congrats
[2015-11-11 17:42:35] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : TschavaTschigger: Thank you. Time to see if I can manage to hold onto it
[2015-11-11 17:44:08] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : TschavaTschigger: I was playing with about 0.5 BTC in just profit before but I messed it up. I'm hoping to get to the point where I can keep adding gains to profit instead of drawing single coins from cold storage to trade.
[2015-11-11 17:44:25] floopfloop : huabi
[2015-11-11 17:44:29] floopfloop : huabo
[2015-11-11 17:44:54] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : floopfloop: Hey!
[2015-11-11 17:44:57] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : How's it going?
[2015-11-11 17:44:59] floopfloop : hey
[2015-11-11 17:45:22] floopfloop : i just deceded to make some late breakfast and check the markets
[2015-11-11 17:45:26] floopfloop : havent been trading
[2015-11-11 17:45:44] floopfloop : sitting on my profit lol and waiting for some action
[2015-11-11 17:45:52] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : floopfloop: Nice. It's good to not be staring at a chart 24/7 like I've been :p
[2015-11-11 17:46:02] floopfloop : ^^
[2015-11-11 17:46:37] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : floopfloop: There was great action with the drop very early today. I made 0.5 BTC in about an hour catching knives lol
[2015-11-11 17:47:34] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : floopfloop: Not sure why I wasn't short on longer timeframe too though. Oh well, next time
[2015-11-11 17:55:14] floopfloop : yeah
[2015-11-11 17:55:24] floopfloop : i have 4 lips as a trader
[2015-11-11 17:55:38] floopfloop : I made btc, but cold have made wayyy more

[2015-11-11 17:57:45] floopfloop : there it is
[2015-11-11 17:58:46] floopfloop : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: where is it going to next?
[2015-11-11 18:00:12] irbbqu : 2000 failed, so should be attempt at more down imo. Felt like when we tried to get 2500 before the drop.
[2015-11-11 18:06:31] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : floopfloop: Haha I'm not some sort of prophet
[2015-11-11 18:06:51] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I feel bad about talking about my opinion here because I feel like I'm trading other people's accounts for them
[2015-11-11 18:08:31] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : 1 hour through 6 hour RSI are still oversold, which makes me think there is less likely to be more down, but they're not always reliable
[2015-11-11 18:12:57] floopfloop : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: :)
[2015-11-11 18:14:46] floopfloop : Chef Floop in the house
[2015-11-11 18:15:58] floopfloop : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: what is RSI?
[2015-11-11 18:16:19] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : floopfloop: Relative Strength Indicator
[2015-11-11 18:16:25] irbbqu : http://www.investopedia.com/terms/r/rsi.asp
[2015-11-11 18:16:28] floopfloop : ty
[2015-11-11 18:16:41] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Another one for you
[2015-11-11 18:16:42] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : http://stockcharts.com/school/doku.php?id=chart_school:technical_indicators:relative_strength_index_rsi
[2015-11-11 18:16:57] floopfloop : is there one for btc?
[2015-11-11 18:20:49] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : floopfloop: You can add the RSI indicator in Cryptowat.ch and Bitcoin Wisdom
[2015-11-11 18:22:05] BitMEX_Sam : There's one on our charts as well
[2015-11-11 18:22:16] BitMEX_Sam : Click the little graph icon next to the scales
[2015-11-11 18:23:02] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Sam: Oh yeah forgot about that. I figured there will be better signals on a spot exchange with more trades and liquidity though
[2015-11-11 18:23:10] BitMEX_Sam : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: That's probably true
[2015-11-11 18:23:21] BitMEX_Sam : You can go on TradingView and overlay a few signals, including ours
[2015-11-11 18:24:15] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Sam: That would work as well. I wasn't able to find XBT24H on the main TradingView site though and I was having issues with the one at bitmex.com/chart not being live
[2015-11-11 18:25:04] j8 : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: it's called `XBT1D` on tradingview
[2015-11-11 18:25:09] BitMEX_Sam : It's called `XBT1D` there for whatever reason
