This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2015-11-10 06:22:26] BitMEX_Wally : This was a short position that got liquidated as the price rose. The system took it over and is trying to close it out
[2015-11-10 06:22:46] floopfloop : not before my buy order though :)
[2015-11-10 06:22:59] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: Oh ok. I was talking about on XBT24H, not H16
[2015-11-10 06:23:27] BitMEX_Wally : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: Oh my bad
[2015-11-10 06:23:50] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: It's all good. That was just someone's giant order then if it doesn't show up on the liquidation API?
[2015-11-10 06:25:40] BitMEX_Wally : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: I think so
[2015-11-10 06:25:53] BitMEX_Wally : The liquidation API only shows unfilled orders (i.e. that might lead to a system loss and DPE)
[2015-11-10 06:26:39] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: Crazy. No way I'd have the balls to open that many contracts. That's 77 BTC equivalent!
[2015-11-10 06:26:54] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I know they may have only 1/100th of that but still
[2015-11-10 06:28:05] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: We were curious earlier what the "Bots: 65" means at the top of the trollbox window. Are those trading bots that it's detecting through API usage?
[2015-11-10 06:28:52] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Right under
[2015-11-10 06:28:59] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : *Right under "View Archive"
[2015-11-10 06:29:33] aspa : Fair price of 386.66 seems a bit excessive doesn't it?
[2015-11-10 06:31:26] cekseh : I was just trying to figure out how it got up there
[2015-11-10 06:32:12] aspa : Perhaps it got all excited because of all the talk about Paycoin and floors
[2015-11-10 06:32:13] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : @cekseh @aspa Probably that giant order that was up by 385 a minute or two ago
[2015-11-10 06:32:24] aspa : ah
[2015-11-10 06:33:06] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : A bit over 20000 contracts at 385-386
[2015-11-10 06:33:22] aspa : Very optimistic, I like that
[2015-11-10 06:33:39] aspa : thanks:) makes sense..
[2015-11-10 06:34:54] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : aspa: Very risky haha. Hope it works for them but that would be too scary for me
[2015-11-10 06:35:39] aspa : Well it's only 1/8th of open interest ;)
[2015-11-10 06:35:43] aspa : hehe
[2015-11-10 06:37:16] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : aspa: Haha that's crazy
[2015-11-10 06:52:27] aspa : Impressive though how China hasn't collapsed yet..
[2015-11-10 06:53:01] aspa : It keeps banging its head against 2500..
[2015-11-10 06:53:01] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : aspa: Definitely. Making me a bit more bullish
[2015-11-10 06:53:15] aspa : almost, yes ;)
[2015-11-10 06:53:29] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Haha yes, almost. Setting a definitive new high would be better
[2015-11-10 07:02:31] TschavaTschigger : good morning guys!
[2015-11-10 07:03:18] TschavaTschigger : damn I was hammered last night... almost sent this gambling-addicted-arab some money haha
[2015-11-10 07:04:45] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : TschavaTschigger: Good morning
[2015-11-10 07:04:56] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Hahaha yeah that was close
[2015-11-10 08:16:25] kendang : morning guys
[2015-11-10 08:16:53] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : kendang: Morning
[2015-11-10 08:16:56] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : How's it going?
[2015-11-10 08:17:28] cekseh : It's healthy to have regular dumps in the morning
[2015-11-10 08:17:39] kendang : i am fine. looking forward to another successful day of trading
[2015-11-10 08:18:17] kendang : cekseh: you have a way with words
[2015-11-10 08:18:28] Scottv53 : Morning Folks.
[2015-11-10 08:19:20] Scottv53 : Hows the coal face today or hotel california?
[2015-11-10 08:19:57] gaoMex : See LTC on OKC
[2015-11-10 08:21:00] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Scottv53: Hotel California? It's such a lovely place. Anytime of year, you can find it here
[2015-11-10 08:21:14] floopfloop : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: weed?
[2015-11-10 08:21:49] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : floopfloop: No, the song Hotel California
[2015-11-10 08:22:12] floopfloop : I dont think you got that
[2015-11-10 08:22:39] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I don't think I did either
[2015-11-10 08:22:52] floopfloop : its ok...someday junior....someday
[2015-11-10 08:25:24] TschavaTschigger : congrast to the guy who shorted 9k at 09:16....well played
[2015-11-10 08:25:34] TschavaTschigger : 10k*
[2015-11-10 08:28:45] kendang : TschavaTschigger: what's the meaning of your name?
[2015-11-10 08:30:02] TschavaTschigger : kendang: haha.. no real meaning... but I am from Austria and "Tschava" is just the way we pronounce "Java" (we spell it correctly though) and "Tschigger" is just austrian slang for someone who smokes a lot xD
[2015-11-10 08:30:44] TschavaTschigger : doesn't make much sense, I know
[2015-11-10 08:30:48] kendang : TschavaTschigger: where in austria are you? my brother lives in vienna.
[2015-11-10 08:31:04] TschavaTschigger : Innsbruck.. or as we call it, Innsbrooklyn
[2015-11-10 08:31:54] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : TschavaTschigger: What a beautiful place
[2015-11-10 08:32:07] TschavaTschigger : funnily, another guy from the trollbox is also from austria
[2015-11-10 08:32:51] kendang : i met another german on here. forgot his name though
[2015-11-10 08:33:01] TschavaTschigger : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: yeah it is.. besides, EU recently stated that there are no taxes on bitcoin (if you hold them longer for 1 year) .. yeyyyy
[2015-11-10 08:33:21] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : TschavaTschigger: No taxes at all?
[2015-11-10 08:33:22] TschavaTschigger : longer than*
[2015-11-10 08:33:44] TschavaTschigger : nope... it was a HUGE thing... imho also part of the boom last week.. wait I search you the link
[2015-11-10 08:33:58] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : TschavaTschigger: Oh wait I read about that
[2015-11-10 08:34:00] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Of course
[2015-11-10 08:34:19] TschavaTschigger : http://www.coindesk.com/european-exchanges-react-to-bitcoin-vat-exemption/
[2015-11-10 08:34:41] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I would assume that buying and selling bitcoin derivatives doesn't count as holding though haha
[2015-11-10 08:34:47] TschavaTschigger : i know xD
[2015-11-10 08:34:54] TschavaTschigger : that's the problem I have :D
[2015-11-10 08:37:26] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : TschavaTschigger: I mean is it even worth filing bitcoin stuff in your taxes if you don't have a lot/haven't cashed out much?
[2015-11-10 08:39:54] TschavaTschigger : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: I won't cash out - that's the problem I am having...I don't know if I have to pay taxes when I don't cash out... If I do, it's clear
[2015-11-10 08:40:35] TschavaTschigger : but if I don't? after this court ruling, bitcoin is regarded as official curreny (tax-wise) which means that if I MAKE bitcoins, I would have to taxate them
[2015-11-10 08:40:48] TschavaTschigger : even if I don't cash them out
[2015-11-10 08:41:12] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Not sure how that works. My guess is it's like the US except instead of a lower tax rate after a year it's zero
[2015-11-10 08:41:59] TschavaTschigger : no... I dont think so.. the US treats bitcoin as assets, EU as currency
[2015-11-10 08:42:10] TschavaTschigger : that's fundamentally different
[2015-11-10 08:42:25] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : TschavaTschigger: How do they determine which specific coins you've had for a year and which for longer since bitcoin is fungible?
[2015-11-10 08:42:42] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : *currency is fungible in general
[2015-11-10 08:42:52] TschavaTschigger : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: I have no clue how they want to enforce taxation at bitcoin :D gonna be really interesting
[2015-11-10 08:43:17] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : For sure. Not sure how/if I'll end up dealing with all that
[2015-11-10 08:44:13] TschavaTschigger : well this year I will just leave it :D besides, I just started trading in october so it's not a HUGE sum
[2015-11-10 08:45:15] TschavaTschigger : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: where are you from?
[2015-11-10 08:45:43] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : TschavaTschigger: Not the US :p
[2015-11-10 08:46:01] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Since US customers "can't" use BitMEX
[2015-11-10 08:46:14] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Shhhh
[2015-11-10 08:46:29] TschavaTschigger : really? oO why not?
[2015-11-10 08:46:57] TschavaTschigger : oh.. it's in the ToS?
[2015-11-10 08:47:03] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : TschavaTschigger: Yes
[2015-11-10 08:47:14] TschavaTschigger : weird. do you know why?
[2015-11-10 08:49:10] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Probably because there are heavily restrictive laws on derivatives and such
[2015-11-10 08:49:14] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : From the TOS "that you are not a resident of the United States of America or any other jurisdiction where the services offered by BitMEX are restricted"
[2015-11-10 08:49:39] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I'm from Switzerland
[2015-11-10 08:49:57] lockhedge : TschavaTschigger: some answers (and maybe more questions) relating to Bitcoin taxation in Austria http://www.parlament.gv.at/PAKT/VHG/XXV/AB/AB_01485/imfname_359813.pdf we could ask Niko Alm to file an other parl. question...
[2015-11-10 08:54:11] TschavaTschigger : lockhedge: interesting, thanks
[2015-11-10 09:01:17] kendang : i really don't know what to think of this market. staying all in cash for now.
[2015-11-10 09:22:50] kendang : what do you guys work in your normal life?
[2015-11-10 09:26:05] TschavaTschigger : kendang: i am a finance student working on my master thesis
[2015-11-10 09:26:10] TschavaTschigger : you?
[2015-11-10 09:27:40] kendang : TschavaTschigger: social welfare due to a chronic illness.
[2015-11-10 09:27:52] kendang : hartz 4
[2015-11-10 09:27:56] TschavaTschigger : kendang: ouch... damnit
[2015-11-10 09:27:57] TschavaTschigger : german?
[2015-11-10 09:28:03] kendang : yes
[2015-11-10 09:28:13] TschavaTschigger : hope you get well soon mate
[2015-11-10 09:28:18] kendang : cheers
[2015-11-10 09:28:55] TschavaTschigger : glad we have good - or at least semigood - social systems here
[2015-11-10 09:30:03] kendang : i was studying business administration as well. either wanted to get into marketing or finance. but had to drop out due to my health. i was at mannheim university
[2015-11-10 09:31:23] TschavaTschigger : the thing is, I don't like the finance field, I don't wanna work there.. I just studied it because I am intereset.. but the working environment is not mine
[2015-11-10 09:32:00] kendang : TschavaTschigger: finance is quite hard core to work in. but maybe it gives you an edge trading bitcoin?
[2015-11-10 09:32:06] TschavaTschigger : i hate hierarchy... and when you join a bank, you are pretty much a slave in a giant hierarchic system
[2015-11-10 09:33:09] TschavaTschigger : kendang: I don't think so. Sure you gotta understand how markets work in general, but honestly, you can read that yourself too.
[2015-11-10 09:38:54] TschavaTschigger : I like what we learned. We didn't get drilled to get slaves, but got a very solid understand of financial markets with loads of critical thinking involved. Thats the way to go IMHO, it makes no sense to just stupidly memorize valuation methods, you need to know their possible flaws in order to fully understand them
[2015-11-10 09:39:33] kendang : TschavaTschigger: so if you don't want to work in finance what do you plan to do after you graduate?
[2015-11-10 09:40:07] laisee : many(most) people working in banks don't understand finance either .... mostly moving paper around.
[2015-11-10 09:40:16] TschavaTschigger : laisee: true
[2015-11-10 09:41:35] TschavaTschigger : kendang: Best thing is getting a job at a small fintech startup. Very unlikely. Second option is getting job at a usual startup. Third option is working at a small-sized or mid-sized firm with financial background.
[2015-11-10 09:42:04] TschavaTschigger : but no way I will go to a larger bank
[2015-11-10 09:42:15] kendang : TschavaTschigger: are there any interesting fintech startups in austria?
[2015-11-10 09:42:48] laisee : like most things you learn most by getting hands dirty and working with good people imho
[2015-11-10 09:43:21] TschavaTschigger : kendang: not many, that's the problem. startup scene is very limited due to VCs being super-conservative in europe in general.. got a little bit better in germany and is starting to gain some momentum here too, but not much
[2015-11-10 09:44:03] TschavaTschigger : there is a new bitcoin exchange in austria that I saw on reddit. pretty sick that they managed to license that here. it is super hard for tech startups in austria
[2015-11-10 09:44:50] kendang : what's the name?
[2015-11-10 09:48:43] TschavaTschigger : https://www.coinimal.com/
[2015-11-10 09:50:09] kendang : looks interesting
[2015-11-10 09:51:29] kendang : especially the bitcoim atm
[2015-11-10 10:10:53] vbmithr : If you like technical analysis, Sierra Chart looks like they are hiring devs
[2015-11-10 10:42:33] floopfloop : any admins on?
[2015-11-10 10:44:09] AbuAli : hey guys, if i have some amount of contracts, and the market closes in an hr, do i lose them ?
[2015-11-10 10:45:28] floopfloop : yup
[2015-11-10 10:45:42] AbuAli : they "market close " ?
[2015-11-10 10:46:22] AbuAli : FML :D i see now why market is calm lol
[2015-11-10 10:47:30] floopfloop : 7d isnt loading for me

[2015-11-10 11:01:11] AbuAli : now waiting the hour to pass
[2015-11-10 11:01:15] floopfloop : 375 isnt lol
[2015-11-10 11:01:23] floopfloop : 377 is a bit tho
[2015-11-10 11:01:49] AbuAli : yea just did it to not lose haha
[2015-11-10 11:09:18] laisee : surely this signals the top of the overpriced, FED-funded markets: http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/f3946616-8773-11e5-90de-f44762bf9896.html

[2015-11-10 11:13:53] floopfloop : id be going short on that painting
[2015-11-10 11:13:56] laisee : If I had a Billion, maybe.
[2015-11-10 11:15:05] laisee : " ... contemporary and modern art “has become a parking lot for money” as central banks’ policy of keeping interest rates low has inflated asset prices. If those policies change course, “it may dampen the market” ...
[2015-11-10 11:15:21] laisee : like that quote
[2015-11-10 11:30:30] TschavaTschigger : 25k sell at 24h @ 375 lol
[2015-11-10 11:30:46] floopfloop : fine by me
[2015-11-10 11:30:55] floopfloop : price should be around 376

[2015-11-10 11:55:40] floopfloop : 4 min
[2015-11-10 11:57:37] floopfloop : wow btc booming in the final seconds here
[2015-11-10 11:59:26] floopfloop : 1.5893
[2015-11-10 11:59:30] floopfloop : oops
[2015-11-10 12:03:30] TschavaTschigger : happy new trading day to everyone < 3
[2015-11-10 12:12:20] redlose : Nice one. I started 7 days ago with 1 BTC now i have 20 in my pocket :)
[2015-11-10 12:13:39] BitMEX_Wally : redlose: Nice
[2015-11-10 12:15:10] redlose : I like this site way more than okcoin. sad that the weekly, mothly etc have such a thin orderbook :(
[2015-11-10 12:15:41] BitMEX_Wally : We're working on it. People love daily
[2015-11-10 12:15:46] BitMEX_Wally : We're looking at listing `XBT48H`
[2015-11-10 12:15:58] BitMEX_Wally : Which after 24 hours becomes `XBT24H`
[2015-11-10 12:16:04] BitMEX_Wally : So it shares the liquidity
[2015-11-10 12:16:23] redlose : that sounds complicated to understand xD
[2015-11-10 12:16:46] BitMEX_Wally : I think people will work it out
[2015-11-10 12:17:27] redlose : if you keep it simple yes. keeping it simple is the way of success!
[2015-11-10 12:17:51] floopfloop : lies!
[2015-11-10 12:17:53] BitMEX_Wally : If it is Monday and I am long `XBT48H` which expires Wednesday 12:00 then on Tuesday my position will move to `XBT24H` which expires Wednesday 12:00
[2015-11-10 12:18:22] BitMEX_Wally : I'm not sure if we can make it much simpler
[2015-11-10 12:18:40] redlose : but will there reopen a new XBT48H or will it fade for 24 hours?
[2015-11-10 12:18:52] redlose : but sounds good
[2015-11-10 12:18:55] BitMEX_Wally : We will reopen a new `XBT48H`
[2015-11-10 12:19:01] BitMEX_Wally : So at all times you can choose between 48 or 24
[2015-11-10 12:19:11] redlose : nice
[2015-11-10 12:19:23] BitMEX_Wally : Or maybe call it `XBT2D` or something
[2015-11-10 12:19:47] BitMEX_Wally : The trick is to pool the liquidity rather than spread it too thin
[2015-11-10 12:20:05] redlose : yeah
[2015-11-10 12:20:13] BitMEX_Wally : You can think of `XBT48H` as a way of getting into `XBT24H` early
[2015-11-10 12:21:31] redlose : i am missing only one Order. Is there a possibility to start a order when a price triggers?
[2015-11-10 12:21:56] BitMEX_Wally : If you want to buy when the price goes up use a Stop Limit
[2015-11-10 12:22:04] BitMEX_Wally : If you want to buy when the price goes down, that's just a regular Limit order
[2015-11-10 12:22:06] redlose : For example if the price hits 380 i want to put a order for 10'000 contracts for a price of 381
[2015-11-10 12:22:14] BitMEX_Wally : redlose: Stop Limit is your friend
[2015-11-10 12:22:18] redlose : alright
[2015-11-10 12:22:24] BitMEX_Wally : Put a limit price of 381 and a stop price of 380
[2015-11-10 12:22:38] BitMEX_Wally : Just beware that the risk checks and margin calculations are done when it triggers
[2015-11-10 12:22:55] BitMEX_Wally : So make sure you have the margin in your account then otherwise it will trigger and be rejected
[2015-11-10 12:27:44] TschavaTschigger : bitfinex api working for you guys?
[2015-11-10 12:28:16] TschavaTschigger : never mind, working again

[2015-11-10 13:44:25] jung1 : if you withrawal your money
[2015-11-10 13:44:53] jung1 : most difficult in trading is to keep your money
[2015-11-10 13:45:14] jung1 : I lost like two times most o my coins in my trader career
[2015-11-10 13:45:45] kendang : jung1: you didn't really lose. you paid tuitition.

[2015-11-10 13:50:59] Murch : Dis quarterly premium though
[2015-11-10 13:51:23] kendang : normally i have 100x leverage. and with isolate margin?
[2015-11-10 13:51:49] jung1 : kendang: you play with argin that you open one positon. without it i you will lose o position it will take from othe positions or deposit
[2015-11-10 13:51:56] TschavaTschigger : kendang: read the guides, they explain it really well, better than every trollbox user (including me)

[2015-11-10 14:43:12] kendang : hahahah
[2015-11-10 14:43:23] habibi : funny thing is that there were two drops to 0.01
[2015-11-10 14:43:41] habibi : so after first one people thought oh i will set a fake buy :D
[2015-11-10 14:43:49] AbuAli : BitMEX_Sam: can you fix the PNL Calculator ? we cant select the text in the boxs to edit
[2015-11-10 14:45:26] BitMEX_Sam : AbuAli: Which browser?
[2015-11-10 14:45:50] AbuAli : BitMEX_Sam: firefox
[2015-11-10 14:49:15] gustavo7 : uh
[2015-11-10 14:53:13] mikeh : would be nice if when you click on the orderbook, just the price or amount is put into your order instead of both depending on the column
[2015-11-10 14:53:25] BitMEX_Sam : mikeh: Yes, been thinking the same would be very useful
[2015-11-10 14:53:34] kendang : yes, that would be good
[2015-11-10 14:55:57] Teddy76 : +1 ;)
[2015-11-10 14:56:02] Scottv53 : BitMEX_Sam: i endorse @mikeh suggestion...its a must.
[2015-11-10 14:56:21] BitMEX_Sam : Great - I've been wanting to do that for a while but didn't want to break expectations
[2015-11-10 14:56:29] BitMEX_Sam : Happy to change it.
[2015-11-10 14:56:59] mikeh : can always leave the total column for both price and qty
[2015-11-10 14:57:19] BitMEX_Sam : Smart
[2015-11-10 14:57:26] Scottv53 : It minimises "fat figure problems on any input device"
[2015-11-10 14:57:49] gustavo7 : oh oh
[2015-11-10 14:58:09] kendang : gustavo7: ?
[2015-11-10 14:58:59] gustavo7 : bought the dip but no rebound
[2015-11-10 14:59:14] gustavo7 : threefiddy here we come
[2015-11-10 15:00:50] Scottv53 : where's the bounce china?
[2015-11-10 15:01:09] kendang : no bounce. it's all downhill from here
[2015-11-10 15:03:28] Scottv53 : China give us 2350
[2015-11-10 15:03:37] gustavo7 : praise be i'm saved
[2015-11-10 15:16:18] kendang : BitMEX_Sam: will there be an option in the future to set my leverage manually?
[2015-11-10 15:16:41] BitMEX_Sam : kendang: Yes, we're working on that - in the meantime you can add margin to an existing position and effectively dial in your leverage
[2015-11-10 15:17:42] kendang : BitMEX_Sam: how do i do that?
[2015-11-10 15:17:59] BitMEX_Sam : kendang: If a position is isolated, you'll see a little +&btc; next to the Margin readout
[2015-11-10 15:18:07] BitMEX_Sam : Click that to add more margin to the position
[2015-11-10 15:18:15] kendang : i see. that's good!
[2015-11-10 15:18:29] mikeh : and remember that the default for your next order is now isolate, dangerous
[2015-11-10 15:20:33] mikeh : i'm referring to the isolate button, (assumed it was mentioned before).. if you toggle between them, even in the position list, that is your default for following orders, be careful
[2015-11-10 15:21:09] TschavaTschigger : mikeh: the button is not per-order, but per-position
[2015-11-10 15:21:20] stevelim : hi, tradingview chart not updating? XBT1D?
[2015-11-10 15:21:42] TschavaTschigger : which also makes sense.. but yeah, manually selecting leverage is important and i'm glad they are working on it :)
[2015-11-10 15:22:14] mikeh : yeah, just saying that if you click on it, your default order type is changed
[2015-11-10 15:22:27] stevelim : isiti a right symbol? XBT1D?
[2015-11-10 15:22:34] TschavaTschigger : mikeh: your whole position changed
[2015-11-10 15:23:44] mikeh : yes and next time you create a new position, it will be the same as what you just set - which shouldn't happen really
[2015-11-10 15:23:57] TschavaTschigger : mikeh: I know it's called "order options" but it's not correct, strictly speaking, since the isolate/crossmargin property is a property of your positiontype (24h, 7d)...
[2015-11-10 15:24:18] BitMEX_Sam : stevelim: It looks up to date here
[2015-11-10 15:24:30] BitMEX_Sam : They appear to have some sort of load balancing issue, depending on which server you get, it may or may not be up to date
[2015-11-10 15:24:39] TschavaTschigger : mikeh: it should happen and it makes sense. you change the leverage type of your position
[2015-11-10 15:25:26] BitMEX_Sam : Agreed that it should happen, it would be surprising if it didn't
[2015-11-10 15:25:30] mikeh : no what i'm saying is that when I click on isolate, I usually only want that position isolated.. now I create another one and assume it's on cross as it usually is but the default was changed
[2015-11-10 15:25:39] BitMEX_Sam : And if you intend to open small isolated positions and it switched you back to cross margin, you could lose much more margin than you intended
[2015-11-10 15:26:32] mikeh : i've been isolated a couple of times instantly because of it
[2015-11-10 15:26:38] mikeh : i mean liquidated!
[2015-11-10 15:27:27] TschavaTschigger : i think what @mikeh means that after CLOSING a position, leverage changes should be reverted.. but that doesn't make sense to me
[2015-11-10 15:27:33] stevelim : Thanks Sam
[2015-11-10 15:28:52] mikeh : yes it probably was after closing, but I'm only referring to when you change it from the position list, not from up top..
[2015-11-10 15:29:23] mikeh : if i change it there, it makes sense that it is intended for that position only
[2015-11-10 15:36:59] Scottv53 : mikeh: is there liquidity to trade 40000 contract in one executions/ trade?
[2015-11-10 15:37:12] habibi : users count and bots. Its new or i didnt saw it be4?
[2015-11-10 15:37:16] sleger : Scottv53: just look at the order book ?
[2015-11-10 15:38:30] mikeh : if you want to move the price $10-20
[2015-11-10 15:38:46] BitMEX_Sam : habibi: It's new
[2015-11-10 15:39:57] Scottv53 : just wanted to know frpm the experience trade on the bitmex if that number of contract can traded.
[2015-11-10 15:41:13] mikeh : i haven't been losing my money here for long, just started really
[2015-11-10 15:51:16] BitMEX_Sam : @everyone The orderbook changes you were talking about are now in
[2015-11-10 15:51:18] BitMEX_Sam : Please refresh to see them
[2015-11-10 15:51:59] mikeh : wow that was quick
[2015-11-10 15:52:15] kendang : nice
[2015-11-10 15:52:35] mikeh : did i mention i patented the idea
[2015-11-10 15:52:41] Yumi : Scottv53: You can effectively manage position of 40K size, just not sure about opening/closing it in one trade
[2015-11-10 15:55:14] Scottv53 : Yumi: thanks Yumi, have you tried trading 40K positions/
[2015-11-10 15:57:35] Yumi : Yea, you just gotta be a litle bit smart with it and not market close 40K contracts
[2015-11-10 16:01:18] habibi : dont market close any contracts
[2015-11-10 16:03:21] sleger : Scottv53: 40k is no problem, i have had much more, just not in one order !
[2015-11-10 16:03:27] gustavo7 : 2h ago i said it, 350
[2015-11-10 16:03:48] mikeh : tree fiddy
[2015-11-10 16:04:01] kendang : holy spread
[2015-11-10 16:04:02] kendang : !
[2015-11-10 16:05:19] kendang : gustavo7: did you make decent money on it?
[2015-11-10 16:06:01] gustavo7 : not much just hedging
[2015-11-10 16:07:03] gustavo7 : can't be too careful with this trend, don't wanna sell a temp bottom
[2015-11-10 16:07:20] gustavo7 : needs panic or pump
[2015-11-10 16:12:35] TschavaTschigger : buyers are superscared haha
[2015-11-10 16:14:54] aspa : So was I. This was the first time since I stopped speculating oil that I panicked. Completely forgot about the option to re-enable the isolate margin feature..
[2015-11-10 16:15:50] aspa : I hope that everybody I dumped into passed along the hot potato by now:)
[2015-11-10 16:16:33] TschavaTschigger : yeah it sucks that you have to switch to cross-margin when mark price is way off to trade. especially for non-bot-traders.. one typo and you are broke
[2015-11-10 16:16:45] TschavaTschigger : they are workin on manual levg though
[2015-11-10 16:17:08] BitMEX_Sam : TschavaTschigger: Yes, some improvements are coming to that
[2015-11-10 16:17:22] BitMEX_Sam : In general, mark price much more closely follows last price so these issues are less common
[2015-11-10 16:17:31] TschavaTschigger : true, I realized that
[2015-11-10 16:17:53] BitMEX_Sam : But you still have to be careful on the longer-dated futures, we use a hybrid system when liquidity is thin to prevent manipulation
[2015-11-10 16:20:27] aspa : TschavaTschigger: Indeed.
[2015-11-10 16:21:16] aspa : Well, at least I can say I cleared the order books here:)
[2015-11-10 16:21:50] aspa : It wasn't clean, but the panic dump didn't cost me that much
[2015-11-10 16:25:14] aspa : I was in a meeting and luckily I had okcoin open.. Saw shit hitting the fan without finex following and didn't think twice.. Click, click..
[2015-11-10 16:26:24] TschavaTschigger : lol
[2015-11-10 16:31:02] aspa : I think I should restrict my bitmex time to when I'm behind my desk at home.. More screens, less distractions..
[2015-11-10 16:31:34] aspa : BitMEX_Sam: your mobile site is too good:(
[2015-11-10 16:36:05] Scottv53 : sleger: does any one trade bitcoin on a full time 247 making a living out of it?
[2015-11-10 16:36:27] sleger : of course some do
[2015-11-10 16:36:43] sleger : some even make a living out of it not trading 24/7
[2015-11-10 16:36:47] j8 : BitMEX_Sam: `XBT7D` mark price is not updating. fair price is updating, mark price is not
[2015-11-10 16:37:32] BitMEX_Sam : j8: Looking into it
[2015-11-10 16:41:19] BitMEX_Sam : j8: It's moving again, thanks for letting us know
[2015-11-10 16:41:31] j8 : ok, looks good
[2015-11-10 16:56:50] Murch : BitMEX_Sam: Thanks for the update to orderbook control. All these little improvements actually make a huge difference to the quality of the trading experience.
[2015-11-10 16:58:23] Scottv53 : BitMEX_Sam: I endorse @Murch comment. much pleasant.
[2015-11-10 16:58:40] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Murch: Hey buddy. What changed with the orderbook control?
[2015-11-10 16:58:41] BitMEX_Sam : Glad to hear it.
[2015-11-10 16:58:55] BitMEX_Sam : We'll be doing more of these kinds of tweaks in the future.
[2015-11-10 16:59:25] BitMEX_Sam : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: Clicking an individual size or price only updates the price or size in the order controls, not both
[2015-11-10 16:59:54] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Oh very nice. Thanks!
[2015-11-10 17:00:07] BitMEX_Sam : Clicking the cumulative still does both, like it used to.
[2015-11-10 17:00:48] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I like that, although I've been trying more not to open or close into the book and set my own orders
[2015-11-10 17:02:35] BitMEX_Sam : For sure. You can generally get a better price (plus 0 fee) if you are patient
[2015-11-10 17:02:38] Murch : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: Oh hey man, yeah what he said :P
[2015-11-10 17:03:14] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Murch: Haha how's it going? Great call on those long term shorts btw
[2015-11-10 17:09:32] Murch : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: Going alright, haha thanks man!
[2015-11-10 17:09:44] Murch : Now I just need to find a way to close my quarterly position
[2015-11-10 17:10:09] Murch : I have a short with a price basis at 517
[2015-11-10 17:10:42] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Murch: Haha yeah the liquidity isn't great. Maybe try putting up a limit order around a price you'd be willing to accept and leaving it there. Someone will probably take it eventually
[2015-11-10 17:10:46] habibi : quaterly are decembers ones?
[2015-11-10 17:10:53] Murch : How are things faring on your end?
[2015-11-10 17:10:58] Murch : habibi: nope, march
[2015-11-10 17:11:27] Murch : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: yeah I got my limit orders a bit down, but these damn bids 30 above mark are pissing me off
[2015-11-10 17:11:37] AudibleScience : what happened today!?
[2015-11-10 17:12:05] habibi : just a normal day in bitcoin
[2015-11-10 17:12:32] AudibleScience : no...
[2015-11-10 17:12:46] AudibleScience : what happened to the premium
[2015-11-10 17:12:52] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : AudibleScience: OKCoin margin called a few giant long contract holders
[2015-11-10 17:12:52] habibi : bearish day
[2015-11-10 17:13:05] habibi : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: on btc? or ltc u saying?
[2015-11-10 17:13:24] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BTC but I heard there was some craziness on LTC too
[2015-11-10 17:14:00] habibi : yea ltc get rekt
[2015-11-10 17:14:04] habibi : and okc as well probally :p
[2015-11-10 17:15:51] AudibleScience : the premium between okcoin and huobi and the rest of the world... it's down to like just -$3
[2015-11-10 17:16:28] habibi : ah, yea much bigger panic on chinese then west :p
[2015-11-10 17:19:21] TschavaTschigger : chinese have no balls... first they hype out but once a dump is near they shit their pants and chicken out
[2015-11-10 17:19:46] TschavaTschigger : let's show western balls and keep buying folks
[2015-11-10 17:21:31] AudibleScience : how come it dropped to less than 3 dollars though... that's a crazy drop in less that 8 hours! it was over $10 yesterday when I left... just crazy...
