This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2015-11-06 03:40:11] podizzler3k : thx wally
[2015-11-06 03:40:28] ohmannomma : we do a provably fairness by hand
[2015-11-06 03:40:36] BitMEX_Wally : ohmannomma: Try refreshing your browser?
[2015-11-06 03:40:46] BitMEX_Wally : I see `363.31` as the best offer on XBT24H
[2015-11-06 03:40:46] ohmannomma : no no
[2015-11-06 03:40:55] ohmannomma : its operator here i think
[2015-11-06 03:41:32] BitMEX_Wally : Ahh, I just saw `367.47` when the market maker canceled and re-submitted
[2015-11-06 03:42:46] ohmannomma : sure.. here we need to screenshot at the same time i think
[2015-11-06 03:44:21] BitMEX_Wally : `wscat -c wss://www.bitmex.com/realtime/websocket?subscribe=orderBook10:XBT24H`
[2015-11-06 03:44:26] BitMEX_Wally : You can use that to see the raw updates
[2015-11-06 03:44:46] BitMEX_Wally : `< {"success":true,"subscribe":"orderBook10:XBT24H","request":{"op":"subscribe","args":"orderBook10:XBT24H"}} < {"table":"orderBook10","action":"update","data":[{"symbol":"XBT24H","bids":[[367.01,600],[366.79,1500],[365.78,1500],[365.48,2000],[364.78,1500],[363.78,1500],[363.01,2000],[363,1200],[362.78,1500],[361.27,20]],"asks":[[368.12,2165],[368.69,20],[368.84,1500],[369.86,1500],[370.88,1500],[371.9,1500],[372.92,1500],[385,500],[390,2000],[395,1200]],"timestamp":"2015-11-06T03:44:31.239Z"}]}`
[2015-11-06 03:45:58] ohmannomma : dont worry.. i set up a screenshots rig.
[2015-11-06 03:46:00] ohmannomma : :)
[2015-11-06 04:00:54] ethexio : FYI, calculator doesn't open keyboard on mobile chrome or Firefox, Android.
[2015-11-06 04:00:58] dorothy490 : Where to find profit/loss from the reach trade?
[2015-11-06 04:01:41] dorothy490 : For each trade
[2015-11-06 04:02:39] BitMEX_Wally : dorothy490: We do not have the concept of having many positions or 'trades'
[2015-11-06 04:02:47] BitMEX_Wally : For example you cannot be long and short at the same time
[2015-11-06 04:03:19] BitMEX_Wally : All PNL is netted as 'realisedPnl' on the position row
[2015-11-06 04:07:37] ohmannomma : scscreenshot anyone?
[2015-11-06 04:08:30] ohmannomma : 373 is the cheaper
[2015-11-06 04:08:35] ohmannomma : cheapest
[2015-11-06 04:08:50] ohmannomma : another closure that i could have sold if there were positions
[2015-11-06 04:14:21] SnackyCoins : ohmannomma liquidity is something one must be aware of when trading. bitcoin or any market.
[2015-11-06 04:15:03] SnackyCoins : one's trading ability is directly related to one's ability to cope with loss. maybe you should make smaller positions. are you sure you want to trade?
[2015-11-06 04:19:20] cekseh : I think if there was a policy where everyone had to sell or buy at the price ohmannomma wants to trade at, that would remedy this situation
[2015-11-06 04:21:51] laisee : sounds fair
[2015-11-06 04:30:38] dorothy490 : BitMEX_Wally: sorry where to find this column?
[2015-11-06 04:32:34] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : dorothy490: Look in the header of the positions tab at the bottom of the interface
[2015-11-06 04:32:41] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : "Realised PNL"
[2015-11-06 04:36:32] dorothy490 : But it shows some arbitrary number, I don't know what is it: profit for whole day, last hour or what. I want to see this column on each closed order row with entry price average. How can I amalyze my comissions without it for example?
[2015-11-06 04:39:37] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I'm not totally clear on what it represents either. @BitMEX_Wally?
[2015-11-06 04:40:05] BitMEX_Wally : RealisedPNL shows all the PNL since the contract was listed
[2015-11-06 04:40:10] BitMEX_Wally : `XBT24H` re-lists every day
[2015-11-06 04:40:16] BitMEX_Wally : `XBT7D` relists every week
[2015-11-06 04:40:53] BitMEX_Wally : When a contract settles the PNL is moved to your wallet with a `CashSettlement` transaction which you can see here: https://www.bitmex.com/app/wallet
[2015-11-06 04:40:55] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: Ohh I see. Can it be shown for the open position only? Like say I open a long, then close part of it. Can it show the realized profit from closing that part
[2015-11-06 04:40:57] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : ?
[2015-11-06 04:43:56] dorothy490 : I want to see this column on each closed order row with entry price average. How can I analyze my comissions without it for example?
[2015-11-06 04:45:00] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : dorothy490: Ohh you mean in the history, ok. I meant in the open positions list. Maybe both?
[2015-11-06 04:47:08] dorothy490 : There is a point in that indeed, for example yesterday I had open short from 420 price went to 429 I opened another short, then closed ithat part ar 425. Resulting trade wouldve shown as loss cause average entry was like 422 when I closed my 429>425 portion. But still I think there is solution for ie
[2015-11-06 04:48:49] dorothy490 : I meant closed orders, but at open we need to see unrealized pnl vs current last price of twap of orderbook or whatever to see loss mute effective when fair price is way off of last price/order book
[2015-11-06 04:49:50] dorothy490 : Sorry from mobile hope you will figure out typos
[2015-11-06 04:55:50] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : dorothy490: Yes that makes sense to me. I think Unrealized PNL would be better calculated based on profit if one was to to market buy/sell into the orderbook
[2015-11-06 04:55:57] dorothy490 : Btw this site shows wrong data http://getjumbucks.com/settlement/
[2015-11-06 04:56:24] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : dorothy490: That's something you could write a script to compute too. If I get something simple working in Python would you be interested?
[2015-11-06 04:56:41] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : You could put in your credentials and it would tell you PNL based on the orderbook for the open position
[2015-11-06 04:57:38] billyboy402 : any admin online
[2015-11-06 04:58:39] BitMEX_Arthur : billyboy402: How can we help
[2015-11-06 04:59:05] billyboy402 : hey mate , i made a trade about 3 hours ago and close it , but i cant see in in my history
[2015-11-06 04:59:43] billyboy402 : sold daily at 375 and close 365 . just wondering where i go to see it , order history doesnt show it
[2015-11-06 05:00:21] BitMEX_Wally : billyboy402: Trade history is here: https://www.bitmex.com/app/tradeHistory
[2015-11-06 05:00:41] BitMEX_Wally : (Under `Account / Wallet` on the sidebar)
[2015-11-06 05:01:33] billyboy402 : oh i see now
[2015-11-06 05:02:17] billyboy402 : any way to remove cancel order , most my page are cancel order lol
[2015-11-06 05:04:01] BitMEX_Wally : billyboy402: Which tab are you seeing the cancelled orders in?
[2015-11-06 05:04:21] germanjew : There is a button with a green tick on it
[2015-11-06 05:04:46] billyboy402 : in the order history , i dont think you need or care about canceled orders
[2015-11-06 05:04:49] BitMEX_Wally : Under `Active Orders` you can tick the green tick to clear canceled doers
[2015-11-06 05:05:16] BitMEX_Wally : I think cancelled orders are important for Order History , because otherwise you can just look at trade history for fills
[2015-11-06 05:05:46] germanjew : I noticed that cancelling an order is slightly delayed (for me atleast)
[2015-11-06 05:11:59] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : germanjew: Probably has to do with your connection
[2015-11-06 05:12:07] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Or browser even
[2015-11-06 05:12:42] germanjew : well, everything else seems fast, it is only when cancelling orders that there is a slight lag
[2015-11-06 05:13:32] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : germanjew: My only other thought is it's lag on the server telling you the order has been canceled, not it actually happening
[2015-11-06 05:13:44] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : You might ask @BitMEX_Wally
[2015-11-06 05:13:59] BitMEX_Wally : Yes the order will be canceled as soon as we get the message
[2015-11-06 05:14:33] germanjew : kk thanks. It doesn't normally bother me, however when the market is going crazy it does add a little bit of stress :)
[2015-11-06 05:14:45] BitMEX_Wally : Might be a lag in processing the web socket update locally
[2015-11-06 05:15:45] coolcatgee : whats with all the small orders in the book, its blocking our view
[2015-11-06 05:17:04] BitMEX_Wally : Just playing round
[2015-11-06 05:17:50] BitMEX_Wally : He might not know how small 5 contracts really is...
[2015-11-06 05:18:53] coolcatgee : i think it could be used as a technique to hide the market depth
[2015-11-06 05:19:05] coolcatgee : if he does that at every penny in both directions
[2015-11-06 05:19:21] BitMEX_Wally : If you are on the Advanced layout you can expand the order book
[2015-11-06 05:19:25] BitMEX_Wally : See all the levels
[2015-11-06 05:20:03] coolcatgee : i expanded it and at the time it when across both the ask and bid ... I had orders in that weren't showing
[2015-11-06 05:20:16] ayy lmao : be nice if basic UI had a chart and order controls together without needing to toggle
[2015-11-06 05:20:18] BitMEX_Wally : Ahh, I think it's limited to 25
[2015-11-06 05:20:26] coolcatgee : yea 25 deep
[2015-11-06 05:20:27] BitMEX_Wally : ayy lmao: Switch to Advanced mode
[2015-11-06 05:20:41] BitMEX_Wally : Under `Options` top right
[2015-11-06 05:20:47] BitMEX_Wally : `Dashboard Layout: Advanced`
[2015-11-06 05:20:49] ayy lmao : bitmex_Wally, i have been using it but I like the simplicity of basic
[2015-11-06 05:21:06] SnackyCoins : #addictedtoadvanced
[2015-11-06 05:21:18] germanjew : /me getting used to advanced order book
[2015-11-06 05:22:04] coolcatgee : maybe you can do nested order ranges in the expanded view like a range so we can drill down the order book to any level
[2015-11-06 05:22:53] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : germanjew: What's the deal with the advanced orderbook even? It appears to only show one side
[2015-11-06 05:23:05] coolcatgee : so like all bids between 360-365 can be in one line if they total less than 5000 contracts
[2015-11-06 05:23:11] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Ohh I see now
[2015-11-06 05:23:13] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : nvm
[2015-11-06 05:23:15] germanjew : there are separate bid and ask colms
[2015-11-06 05:23:16] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : That's weird
[2015-11-06 05:23:21] germanjew : yes, it is quite different
[2015-11-06 05:23:33] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Shows more though, which is nice
[2015-11-06 05:24:23] SnackyCoins : it's still colored lol
[2015-11-06 05:24:40] SnackyCoins : the margin details are sweet, too
[2015-11-06 05:24:48] coolcatgee : it wouldn't be a problem if we all had bots, but if I'm manually trading i want to edge out my other bidder, where the order depth drops
[2015-11-06 05:25:14] billyboy402 : i dont like the advance orderbook , i font like the price in the middle , they need to be bold or some thing , look like a bingo sheet
[2015-11-06 05:25:14] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : It would be awesome if the dashboard were customizable. You could select whether you wanted the advanced or simple view per widget, or hide it all together, then rearrange things
[2015-11-06 05:25:14] germanjew : yes, being able to see more is better for me, I will just have to get used to it. It is a very clever way of using space
[2015-11-06 05:25:45] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Maybe I'll just create my own UI
[2015-11-06 05:26:58] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : About ready to short this hard if it doesn't break upward
[2015-11-06 05:27:29] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : If the price were still high enough I could make a 404: Buyers not found joke
[2015-11-06 05:28:09] coolcatgee : lol, i still laughed
[2015-11-06 05:29:59] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : :) Will be interesting to see what happens when OKCoin futures settle
[2015-11-06 05:30:08] laisee : pls don' short ETH, I am long 42 contracts and in profit on settle day.
[2015-11-06 05:30:40] SnackyCoins : it doesnt matter laisee, it will settle to index price
[2015-11-06 05:31:02] SnackyCoins : i could dump on you and i would lose :)
[2015-11-06 05:31:52] laisee : but .. but ... doesn't futures drive cash market?
[2015-11-06 05:32:55] SnackyCoins : not likely in eth
[2015-11-06 05:32:58] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Of course right when I open a short. 200 buyers found
[2015-11-06 05:33:23] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Check this out: &btc;
[2015-11-06 05:34:17] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : <b>bold</b> and <i>italic</i>
[2015-11-06 05:34:36] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : <strike>scratch that</strike>
[2015-11-06 05:35:01] laisee : cool. how 2 do that?
[2015-11-06 05:35:22] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Hover over the text field and it will tell you :)
[2015-11-06 05:36:13] Scottv53 : &btc
[2015-11-06 05:36:21] BitMEX_Wally : Don't forget the ;
[2015-11-06 05:36:23] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : My favorite is `&btc;` for &btc;
[2015-11-06 05:36:26] laisee : <b>BOSS</b>
[2015-11-06 05:36:31] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : whoops that didn't work
[2015-11-06 05:36:39] BitMEX_Wally : `& b t c ;`
[2015-11-06 05:36:40] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : <code>&btc;</code>
[2015-11-06 05:36:42] BitMEX_Wally : :)
[2015-11-06 05:36:52] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Shouldn't it not reformat in the code blocks?
[2015-11-06 05:36:53] laisee : <b>cool as</b>;
[2015-11-06 05:37:03] BitMEX_Wally : IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb: Yeah the regex is a bit too keen
[2015-11-06 05:37:06] BitMEX_Wally : :bitcoin:
[2015-11-06 05:37:14] BitMEX_Wally : It stops you using some naughty words
[2015-11-06 05:37:31] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I noticed that. Words like fuck
[2015-11-06 05:37:40] Scottv53 : &btc;
[2015-11-06 05:37:47] BitMEX_Wally : And OKCoin
[2015-11-06 05:37:48] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : so funny when people trigger that in random conversation
[2015-11-06 05:38:00] BitMEX_Wally : Fuck OKCOIN
[2015-11-06 05:38:07] BitMEX_Wally : FUCK
[2015-11-06 05:38:12] BitMEX_Wally : Hah I like the case preservation
[2015-11-06 05:38:14] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : When people paste O K C o i n links and they're broke by OKCoin
[2015-11-06 05:38:19] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : *broken
[2015-11-06 05:38:23] Scottv53 : &btc:;ravo!

[2015-11-06 05:39:40] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Be on alert for price breaking downtrend
[2015-11-06 05:39:58] silverswordfish : how do i make some money on this thing
[2015-11-06 05:40:14] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Have a line from 2750 that's close to being broken
[2015-11-06 05:40:24] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Either that or another dump
[2015-11-06 05:40:49] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I shouldn't give trading advice until I make back my losses :p
[2015-11-06 05:41:11] silverswordfish : i hope you havent lost 2g today becuase i have
[2015-11-06 05:42:00] SnackyCoins : wow
[2015-11-06 05:42:04] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : silverswordfish: Ouch!
[2015-11-06 05:42:05] SnackyCoins : playing big hands eh?
[2015-11-06 05:42:36] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I'm down 1.17 BTC. Recovered from losing 2
[2015-11-06 05:42:52] SnackyCoins : maybe you should reduce your order sizing until you figure it out :)
[2015-11-06 05:43:22] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: I got that figured out now, but if you directed that at @silverswordfish that's solid advice haha 2g is ridiculous
[2015-11-06 05:43:41] SnackyCoins : heh yeah i meant it his way
[2015-11-06 05:43:57] micmix : depends on his trading capital, 2g might be very little
[2015-11-06 05:44:09] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : micmix: Fair point
[2015-11-06 05:44:58] SnackyCoins : anyway "buy low, sell high" and all that
[2015-11-06 05:45:14] cekseh : "dont lose money, make money"
[2015-11-06 05:45:16] silverswordfish : Any opinions on what will happen after the gov auction
[2015-11-06 05:45:27] SnackyCoins : yes: nothing
[2015-11-06 05:45:31] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I like the buy low, sell high, buy higher, sell even higher, get eaten alive by fees option
[2015-11-06 05:45:31] cekseh : irrelevant
[2015-11-06 05:45:42] laisee : &#128520;
[2015-11-06 05:46:32] SnackyCoins : nothing wrong with buy higher, sell even higher :) as long as they are on the right side of each other
[2015-11-06 05:47:12] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : One filter I need: All fucking emoji to ?
[2015-11-06 05:47:21] laisee : going o change my account name to 'geatestfule'
[2015-11-06 05:47:34] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : lol
[2015-11-06 05:47:48] SnackyCoins : i learned something this pump. I was fretting a bit about my bitcoin stack. long term cold storage and all that.. had to sell a bunch to pay bills. Concerned I would have to buy back in after $2000 was the new $200.
[2015-11-06 05:47:52] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : 'EyeCahnSpel?'
[2015-11-06 05:48:04] SnackyCoins : then i realized it doesn't matter as long as it's still volatile up there.
[2015-11-06 05:48:32] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: Volatile enough for trading you mean?
[2015-11-06 05:48:46] SnackyCoins : yeah
[2015-11-06 05:48:54] laisee : yeah, its volatile asset indeed
[2015-11-06 05:49:15] laisee : becaos of buyers ... &#127754;
[2015-11-06 05:49:35] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : @OKCoin, please fuck me one more time
[2015-11-06 05:49:37] SnackyCoins : my profits will just come in the form of $2000 btcs instead of $200 btcs, and i'll likely just be earning less of them, but i won't have missed out because i didn't hoard enough before moon.
[2015-11-06 05:50:16] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: Good point. I was thinking about that earlier and I'd like to think about it some more at $2000
[2015-11-06 05:50:36] laisee : I have hodl BTC and play BTC.
[2015-11-06 05:51:28] laisee : and ETH for trading fun
[2015-11-06 05:52:29] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Where did the market maker bot go?
[2015-11-06 05:52:29] laisee : &#127773;
[2015-11-06 05:52:42] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : 'No liquidity alert!'
[2015-11-06 05:52:52] cekseh : ran out of equity
[2015-11-06 05:52:55] cekseh : doh!
[2015-11-06 05:53:10] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : 'test'
[2015-11-06 05:53:12] coolcatgee : there that bot goes again blinding the book
[2015-11-06 05:53:14] SnackyCoins : all exchanges candles show a lack of liquidity after we hit 460 on the way up
[2015-11-06 05:53:21] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I'm screwed now :p
[2015-11-06 05:53:32] SnackyCoins : go to like the 5 minute okc, houbi and look at all the gaps
[2015-11-06 05:53:39] SnackyCoins : 5minute back at the top
[2015-11-06 05:53:44] SnackyCoins : gap city
[2015-11-06 05:53:50] SnackyCoins : even on larger timeframes
[2015-11-06 05:53:56] laisee : sell some DOGE, iChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb
[2015-11-06 05:54:08] SnackyCoins : that+huge price swings = no liquidity
[2015-11-06 05:55:06] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I'm screwed if this goes up. No liquidity to close my short!
[2015-11-06 05:56:23] SnackyCoins : welp. that is part of the game
[2015-11-06 05:56:26] laisee : &#127906;
[2015-11-06 05:56:30] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : There goes 0.1 &btc; :(
[2015-11-06 05:56:40] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : And in 5 minutes I'll probably wish I had held it
[2015-11-06 05:57:15] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I'm done with this until the liquidity returns
[2015-11-06 05:57:27] SnackyCoins : i'm short too
[2015-11-06 05:57:39] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: Best of luck
[2015-11-06 05:57:47] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I shouldn't have panicked like I did
[2015-11-06 05:57:50] SnackyCoins : i'm not that worried about it
[2015-11-06 05:57:52] SnackyCoins : did you close?
[2015-11-06 05:58:28] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Yep. Bought up above my entry to get out of it quickly when I say it going up. I'm going to wait for a clear direction/more liquidity before taking a position
[2015-11-06 05:58:50] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : *saw it going up
[2015-11-06 05:59:01] BitMEX_Wally : Laughing and sniggering
[2015-11-06 05:59:06] BitMEX_Wally : Haha
[2015-11-06 05:59:12] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : BitMEX_Wally: Haha
[2015-11-06 05:59:18] SnackyCoins : well if you don't know where it's going then being out of a position is smart :)
[2015-11-06 05:59:25] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Where is the market maker? This is terrible
[2015-11-06 05:59:46] SnackyCoins : you can place limit orders too you know
[2015-11-06 06:00:07] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I did but they weren't being taken and the price was drifting up
[2015-11-06 06:00:19] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I know... panic is a bad idea
[2015-11-06 06:00:24] SnackyCoins : yeah x)
[2015-11-06 06:00:41] SnackyCoins : i'm hodling my short, want to see why?
[2015-11-06 06:01:05] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: Look at that buy volume on Finex. Still want to hold?
[2015-11-06 06:01:15] cekseh : hodl*
[2015-11-06 06:01:20] SnackyCoins : yes. there's shit for volume
[2015-11-06 06:01:36] SnackyCoins : ok first let me ask you a question: do the majority of people who trade markets win, or lose?
[2015-11-06 06:01:37] cekseh : I don't even want to get into position when the book is like this, I just closed out
[2015-11-06 06:01:45] cekseh : =)
[2015-11-06 06:01:52] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Your call!
[2015-11-06 06:02:01] SnackyCoins : the majority loses :)
[2015-11-06 06:02:13] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Finex making a break for it
[2015-11-06 06:02:14] SnackyCoins : ok so with that in mind
[2015-11-06 06:02:28] SnackyCoins : let me show you some data (have to use another exchange since this is not published here yet) https://goo.gl/TpmEac
[2015-11-06 06:02:35] SnackyCoins : look at the bottom chart
[2015-11-06 06:02:40] SnackyCoins : is the majority long or shot
[2015-11-06 06:02:43] SnackyCoins : short*
[2015-11-06 06:03:15] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Short. Doesn't mean they're all right
[2015-11-06 06:03:25] SnackyCoins : i think you are reading that wrong 8) bottom chart?
[2015-11-06 06:03:27] micmix : SnackyCoins: the futures markets are zero sum game except the fees to the exchange
[2015-11-06 06:03:34] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Hey the bot's back! We missed you market maker
[2015-11-06 06:03:41] BitMEX_Wally : The bots were always there
[2015-11-06 06:03:49] BitMEX_Wally : Those little orders were canceled
[2015-11-06 06:04:05] SnackyCoins : 37.38% long, 27.16% short is what the chart says
[2015-11-06 06:04:10] SnackyCoins : the majority is long
[2015-11-06 06:04:26] SnackyCoins : and settlement on the woodchipper is in 2 hours
[2015-11-06 06:04:52] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I see your point. Good luck on your trade!
[2015-11-06 06:05:02] laisee : so ... 'Don't Know' is 64%?
[2015-11-06 06:05:02] SnackyCoins : :) ty
[2015-11-06 06:05:19] SnackyCoins : so the bar chart is top trader margin used
[2015-11-06 06:05:33] SnackyCoins : it takes the top 100 traders and shows you what they are doing with their margin
[2015-11-06 06:05:59] SnackyCoins : basically it shows you how much each "team" is using up it's fuel
[2015-11-06 06:06:08] SnackyCoins : right now the longs have used up a lot of fuel
[2015-11-06 06:06:13] SnackyCoins : and the price is dropping overall
[2015-11-06 06:06:32] SnackyCoins : meanwhile shorts have hardly begun to use any
[2015-11-06 06:06:42] laisee : its likely in wild west market for some last minute abuse of market to intfluence setle price
[2015-11-06 06:06:50] SnackyCoins : longs are blowing their load trying to rescue price and it's -not helping-
[2015-11-06 06:07:05] SnackyCoins : you saw the exact opposite case the whooole way up
[2015-11-06 06:07:23] SnackyCoins : at 400-500 we began to shift
[2015-11-06 06:07:34] SnackyCoins : now the majority of people are buying the dip
[2015-11-06 06:07:38] SnackyCoins : but the majority of people can't win
[2015-11-06 06:08:12] SnackyCoins : you cant go to the moon with all these people hanging off the side like a train in india
[2015-11-06 06:08:20] SnackyCoins : it's too expensive
[2015-11-06 06:08:58] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Thx whoever just bought my long

[2015-11-06 06:10:38] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Should have held on to it. Too big a position though
[2015-11-06 06:11:30] SnackyCoins : if you're nervous about your position then getting out of it until it's small enough to where you're not is the smart thing to do
[2015-11-06 06:12:08] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: True. I've been managing position sizes a lot better since losing 2 BTC being stupid
[2015-11-06 06:12:24] SnackyCoins : thats how i learned too 8)
[2015-11-06 06:12:28] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Haha
[2015-11-06 06:12:37] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : China wants up and there's 0 volume on finex...
[2015-11-06 06:13:17] SnackyCoins : there's lies, damn lies, and chinese bitcoin exchange volumes
[2015-11-06 06:13:44] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : SnackyCoins: I agree with you, but there's a difference between reacting to other exchanges and not moving at all
[2015-11-06 06:16:32] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Hey it moved. Wow
[2015-11-06 06:19:44] brickjenks100 : how long does it take for a deposit to become available?
[2015-11-06 06:19:59] silverswordfish : 5 mm ins or so
[2015-11-06 06:20:19] brickjenks100 : thanks
[2015-11-06 06:20:29] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : brickjenks100: 1 confirmation

[2015-11-06 06:21:20] SnackyCoins : and thats on top of it's being fucked up for days
[2015-11-06 06:21:29] SnackyCoins : lol goddamnit wordfilter
[2015-11-06 06:21:38] SnackyCoins : #rekt
[2015-11-06 06:22:14] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : lol
[2015-11-06 06:22:31] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I've had every transaction of mine go through in the next block with reasonable fees
[2015-11-06 06:23:26] SnackyCoins : me too, until this week
[2015-11-06 06:23:40] SnackyCoins : i had a normal fee tx take 48h to confirm
[2015-11-06 06:24:08] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Ouch. That's bad
[2015-11-06 06:24:11] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : What was the fee?
[2015-11-06 06:24:17] SnackyCoins : 0.0001
[2015-11-06 06:24:30] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Was it a larger transaction? That's what I've been using without trouble
[2015-11-06 06:24:42] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : larger in terms of bytes
[2015-11-06 06:24:50] SnackyCoins : nah 1 in 2 outs iirc
[2015-11-06 06:25:01] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Strange
[2015-11-06 06:25:11] SnackyCoins : the blockchain was JAMMED you got lucky
[2015-11-06 06:25:12] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I might have just gotten in at the right time
[2015-11-06 06:25:31] SnackyCoins : tx's are through the roof
[2015-11-06 06:25:52] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcArnepkhv0
[2015-11-06 06:26:37] SnackyCoins : lol exactly
[2015-11-06 06:27:13] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Haha this is a great clip
[2015-11-06 06:27:17] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I should watch the movie again
[2015-11-06 06:41:40] billyboy402 : why are my order getting Rejected ,. but my poistion has disapeard
[2015-11-06 06:42:47] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : billyboy402: No idea. Never seen the rejected order issue
[2015-11-06 06:43:03] BitMEX_Wally : billyboy402: Check your trade history: https://www.bitmex.com/app/tradeHistory
[2015-11-06 06:43:08] BitMEX_Wally : You might have been liquidated?
[2015-11-06 06:44:17] billyboy402 : oh yea liquidation . kinda strange . only had 16,000 short and still got 7 BTC
[2015-11-06 06:45:07] laisee : sometimes I have price/qty set in order control bu clicking on "Sell"" does nothing. Is that same scenario?
[2015-11-06 06:46:28] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : billyboy402: Probably on Isolated Instead of cross margin. Lucky for you that saved your hide
[2015-11-06 06:46:29] laisee : perhaps network issue.
[2015-11-06 06:46:47] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : laisee: Always quick for me. Must be a network thing
[2015-11-06 06:47:06] laisee : yep, most likely.
[2015-11-06 06:47:25] billyboy402 : yea . only loset 0.3 BTC that good , but just wondering why it happen
[2015-11-06 06:48:16] BitMEX_Wally : If you have isolate margin enabled then you only lose the margin you put in
[2015-11-06 06:48:21] BitMEX_Wally : i.e. 1% of the gross value
[2015-11-06 07:05:10] ethexio : Any way to have multiple positions open in different directions?
[2015-11-06 07:05:28] SnackyCoins : not on the same contract
[2015-11-06 07:05:37] SnackyCoins : but you can be long 7d and short 24h, for example
[2015-11-06 07:06:09] germanjew : having positions open on the same contract in diff directions does not make sense, hence why they will net
[2015-11-06 07:07:53] ethexio : It could make sense. I've done it on Okcoin weeklies with OK returns. Just a lot to manage.
[2015-11-06 07:08:17] ethexio : Okcoin
[2015-11-06 07:08:25] ethexio : Lol
[2015-11-06 07:08:38] ethexio : Love the auto replace
[2015-11-06 07:08:54] ethexio : OK coin
[2015-11-06 07:09:51] germanjew : as far as I understand, 50 down + 60 up = 10 up
[2015-11-06 07:10:42] ethexio : Depends where placed, and amount.
[2015-11-06 07:10:52] ethexio : You're right though
[2015-11-06 07:13:29] gaoMex : BitMEX_Wally: I got liquated. The execution price in Recent Trades is higher than the execution price in Trade History. Which price is correct?
[2015-11-06 07:17:52] BitMEX_Wally : gaoMex: The price in your trade history is your bankruptPrice
[2015-11-06 07:18:01] BitMEX_Wally : i.e. it was taken over with any remaining equity
[2015-11-06 07:18:06] BitMEX_Wally : Then it was liquidated by the system
[2015-11-06 07:20:03] SnackyCoins : If i was curious what % of open interest I was, I would need to half my position size before comparing it to the open interest right? because my counterparty also has a position opposite mine?
[2015-11-06 07:20:18] gaoMex : So with respect to my balance, I should look at bankruptPrice on trade history? @BitMEX_Wally
[2015-11-06 07:20:36] BitMEX_Wally : Yes
[2015-11-06 07:20:55] BitMEX_Wally : SnackyCoins: If you are long 100 then someone is short 100 and the open interest would be 100
[2015-11-06 07:23:18] gaoMex : BitMEX_Wally: So if I had sold manually instead of liquidation, I would have higher balance?
[2015-11-06 07:23:32] BitMEX_Wally : gaoMex: Yes
[2015-11-06 07:23:51] SnackyCoins : I was thinking that would make me half the market, but i guess it is more accurate to say that the two of us in the example share the whole of it equally
[2015-11-06 07:23:53] gaoMex : BitMEX_Wally: OMG! :(
[2015-11-06 07:25:05] gaoMex : BitMEX_Wally: Just curious, who takes over the difference?
[2015-11-06 07:25:14] Scottv53 : BitMEX_Wally: what strategy would you employ to hedge your bitcoins in your wallet whilst trading, against depreciation in absolute terms against the USD?
[2015-11-06 07:26:35] BitMEX_Wally : gaoMex: The difference goes into the system loss fund
[2015-11-06 07:26:59] BitMEX_Wally : In a fast moving market the system can make a loss when liquidating and so any profits offset these losse
[2015-11-06 07:27:03] gaoMex : For DPE?
[2015-11-06 07:27:05] BitMEX_Wally : Yes
[2015-11-06 07:27:15] SnackyCoins : today i learned there's an insurance fund
[2015-11-06 07:27:32] BitMEX_Wally : Scottv53: I would recommend you short XBUZ15 to hedge the dollar value of your Bitcoins
[2015-11-06 07:27:45] gaoMex : Is the value of the fund published?
[2015-11-06 07:27:49] BitMEX_Wally : SnackyCoins: How do you think we've managed to keep the tax rate at 0% this whole time?
[2015-11-06 07:28:38] SnackyCoins : Woodchipper's were getting cleaned up pretty well :) figured that was going on
[2015-11-06 07:29:25] SnackyCoins : Never saw it mentioned on the DPE page, but I havent read it since it was released
[2015-11-06 07:29:54] SnackyCoins : I could just be blind 8)
[2015-11-06 07:53:41] laisee : &#127975;
[2015-11-06 07:58:48] dorothy490 : bids = none
[2015-11-06 08:03:15] BitMEX_Wally : dorothy490: Could you take a screenshot?
[2015-11-06 08:03:18] BitMEX_Wally : I see bids
[2015-11-06 08:06:06] dorothy490 : I was speaking in a methaporic way
[2015-11-06 08:06:21] dorothy490 : last price was like 381 and bids were like 2k to 360
[2015-11-06 08:06:58] silverswordfish : Does anyone think it will go back up past 500?
[2015-11-06 08:10:45] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : silverswordfish: I think it's a real possibility. Part of that is probably just wishful thinking though
[2015-11-06 08:11:25] silverswordfish : In the next 7 days?
[2015-11-06 08:13:15] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : If it's going to happen I think it will be in the next few days
[2015-11-06 08:13:23] micmix : silverswordfish: I would watch 2500 CNY level, if it stays above it for the weekend there is a good chance we'll go up
[2015-11-06 08:13:52] micmix : not sure about the next 7 days though
[2015-11-06 08:14:45] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : micmix: This crash was very very fast and I expect any serious retracement to happen pretty much just as quickly
[2015-11-06 08:15:11] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Who knows if that's going to happen at all though
[2015-11-06 08:15:19] silverswordfish : If it dips to 330 im out, just gotta wait and hope
[2015-11-06 08:16:09] silverswordfish : If it hits 330 im out. Just have to cross my fingers i suppose
[2015-11-06 08:18:18] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : silverswordfish: Please don't go long on my random thoughts!
[2015-11-06 08:18:33] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : I've lost 1 BTC here

[2015-11-06 10:42:35] IChTj4OeMavRq6qeIyEb : Be careful you don't get caught trading this chop. It's super low volume and hard to scalp
[2015-11-06 10:43:39] habibi : thats sad :( we need more people here
[2015-11-06 10:44:55] BitMEX_Arthur : Volume is a bit muted due to settlement
[2015-11-06 10:45:07] BitMEX_Arthur : It will improve in an hour

[2015-11-06 10:47:37] TschavaTschigger : finex is almost dead... had heartattack on wednesday and is now in coma

[2015-11-06 12:02:49] TschavaTschigger : happy new 24h trading period everybody
[2015-11-06 12:04:02] dorothy490 : why some bids/asks shown in bold?
[2015-11-06 12:04:46] habibi : first ones in order book ;p?
[2015-11-06 12:04:52] billyboy402 : i thought there yourtrade when they are bold
[2015-11-06 12:05:17] TschavaTschigger : this is a bit flawed.. when its your trade, it should be golden background, but sometimes it's just bold
[2015-11-06 12:05:42] billyboy402 : any admin online ?
[2015-11-06 12:05:48] TschavaTschigger : I will make screenshot and show it to staff the next time I notice it
[2015-11-06 12:05:52] gielbier : Why is XBT7D now XBT6D?
[2015-11-06 12:06:04] billyboy402 : i was going to ask that
[2015-11-06 12:06:11] wurstgelee : while expiry is still in 7d?
[2015-11-06 12:06:12] wurstgelee : :)
[2015-11-06 12:06:25] j8 : it's a leap week
[2015-11-06 12:06:27] gielbier : hmz after refresh it says "Every Friday" again
[2015-11-06 12:06:36] wurstgelee : lol yes
[2015-11-06 12:06:54] habibi : and after clicking tab its again 6
[2015-11-06 12:07:10] gielbier : haha yeah indeed
[2015-11-06 12:07:30] wurstgelee : also no no premium? fair price?
[2015-11-06 12:07:44] wurstgelee : fair basis of 0
[2015-11-06 12:10:58] wurstgelee : admins? fair basis of 0 on purpose? =)
[2015-11-06 12:11:07] wurstgelee : xbt24h that is
[2015-11-06 12:11:18] wurstgelee : also xbt7d
[2015-11-06 12:13:07] habibi : where u see fair basis?
[2015-11-06 12:13:40] TschavaTschigger : mark price = current xbt + fair basis
[2015-11-06 12:13:53] TschavaTschigger : since mark Price = current xbt this means fair basis = 0
[2015-11-06 12:20:27] habibi : BitMEX_Arthur: whats wrong with fair basis on 24h
[2015-11-06 12:25:09] wurstgelee : nothing now
[2015-11-06 12:25:18] wurstgelee : fixed it seems
[2015-11-06 12:25:55] Scottv53 : BitMEX_Arthur: trying to close Market a position but failing to close. Please assist
[2015-11-06 12:26:18] BitMEX_Arthur : What is the error message that you are getting?
[2015-11-06 12:27:41] Scottv53 : BitMEX_Arthur: i toggled to cross margin type.
[2015-11-06 12:28:30] BitMEX_Wally : Scottv53: Please switch to isolate and then try a market close
[2015-11-06 12:28:34] BitMEX_Wally : I am working on fixing this issue
[2015-11-06 12:28:35] wurstgelee : BitMEX_Arthur: same problem i had
[2015-11-06 12:28:40] wurstgelee : yesterday
[2015-11-06 12:28:41] TschavaTschigger : just be very carefuly with market orders at cross margin
[2015-11-06 12:28:51] wurstgelee : closing with isolated margin seems impossible sometimesy
[2015-11-06 12:29:18] Scottv53 : i was able to close the postion with cross margin.
[2015-11-06 12:29:25] wurstgelee : yes, that works
[2015-11-06 12:29:31] BitMEX_Wally : Scottv53: What error were you seeing?
[2015-11-06 12:29:42] wurstgelee : it said something of out of range for me
[2015-11-06 12:30:05] wurstgelee : because the order itself would be out of range of mark price with isolated margin
[2015-11-06 12:30:14] Scottv53 : it was reverting with " Market order cancelled"
[2015-11-06 12:30:20] wurstgelee : yep, same
[2015-11-06 12:30:34] wurstgelee : but that error shouldnt happen if it counters a position
[2015-11-06 12:31:09] TschavaTschigger : +1 happened to me too yesterday
[2015-11-06 12:31:12] wurstgelee : the workaround to use cross margin fixes it, but that is risky in times of high volatility
[2015-11-06 12:31:21] Scottv53 : it worked
[2015-11-06 12:31:24] j8 : @BitMEX_Wally @BitMEX_Arthur fair mid price is stuck
[2015-11-06 12:31:42] j8 : nvm
[2015-11-06 12:32:09] BitMEX_Wally : Scottv53: Ok, I see your close out order in the system, let me check what happened to it
[2015-11-06 12:32:35] wurstgelee : doesnt only happen with market close, also when you try to place a manual order with fixed price to close
[2015-11-06 12:32:40] BitMEX_Wally : Scottv53: This was in `XBTZ15`?
[2015-11-06 12:32:58] Scottv53 : yes
[2015-11-06 12:33:28] BitMEX_Wally : You were short 10 contracts and submitted a Close Market. This submitted a buy order to buy up to your liquidation price of 435.79 but unfortunately the ask price is 500.00 so the order was not executed
[2015-11-06 12:33:46] BitMEX_Wally : Close orders are IOC (ImmediateOrCancel) so they are canceled after sweeping the order book
[2015-11-06 12:34:14] dorothy490 : what means "canceled" ?
[2015-11-06 12:34:16] wurstgelee : BitMEX_Wally: i will tell you next time this happens with a limit price order ;)
[2015-11-06 12:34:46] BitMEX_Wally : A market order does not rest in the order book
[2015-11-06 12:34:53] BitMEX_Wally : It tries to execute and then it is cancled
[2015-11-06 12:35:09] dorothy490 : so easy way to "cancel" orders found?
[2015-11-06 12:37:20] podizzler3k_ : if market close doesnt work try mashing your mouse button harder and faster
[2015-11-06 12:37:28] wurstgelee : lol :D
[2015-11-06 12:37:34] podizzler3k_ : screaming and panicking could help too
[2015-11-06 12:37:47] wurstgelee : i heard loud swearing helps too
