This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2016-07-12 00:37:53] Rado : right

[2016-07-12 00:38:15] rapidtrades : what type of system is it
[2016-07-12 00:38:24] rapidtrades : momentum or counter
[2016-07-12 00:38:35] Rado : momentum
[2016-07-12 00:38:53] rapidtrades : test it further back
[2016-07-12 00:39:22] Rado : when did ETH start?
[2016-07-12 00:39:39] rapidtrades : idk but u can test it on btc too
[2016-07-12 00:40:10] Rado : for some reason doesn't work good on BTC
[2016-07-12 00:40:17] rapidtrades : right
[2016-07-12 00:40:22] Rado : that is why I am creating a separate strategy for BTC
[2016-07-12 00:40:40] rapidtrades : that reason is eth had a huge rally then crash then another rally then another crash
[2016-07-12 00:41:00] rapidtrades : unprecedented volatility which will not last imo
[2016-07-12 00:41:06] Rado : yes
[2016-07-12 00:41:12] Rado : agree
[2016-07-12 00:41:30] Rado : will switch to LSK ;-)
[2016-07-12 00:41:46] Rado : but I am sure I can make on for BTC
[2016-07-12 00:42:00] Rado : will be way shorter period
[2016-07-12 00:42:02] rapidtrades : not on 2h charts
[2016-07-12 00:42:06] Rado : like 5 min or even 1 min tick
[2016-07-12 00:42:06] rapidtrades : nope
[2016-07-12 00:42:17] rapidtrades : not unless its market making
[2016-07-12 00:42:27] Rado : what do you think?
[2016-07-12 00:42:37] Rado : 30 min?
[2016-07-12 00:42:52] rapidtrades : momentum works better on longer charts, lower charts are better for mean reversion
[2016-07-12 00:43:25] rapidtrades : i doubt a 2h system will work for a long time on anything
[2016-07-12 00:44:30] rapidtrades : momentum system to be exact
[2016-07-12 00:44:58] Rado : right
[2016-07-12 00:45:13] Rado : why do you think 5 min will not work
[2016-07-12 00:45:16] Rado : commisions?
[2016-07-12 00:45:34] rapidtrades : also if u have a system that works well on what pair but not on others, u are likely curve fitting
[2016-07-12 00:45:54] rapidtrades : Rado: yes, that's a major factor because a momentum system will take liquidity
[2016-07-12 00:47:22] Rado : I was thinking the BTC bot to combine volume and technical indicators and only take a position when certain things are met
[2016-07-12 00:48:51] Rado : my first 5 min try was not very profitable
[2016-07-12 00:49:15] Rado : I think commissions of 0.2% ate 90% of the profit
[2016-07-12 00:49:43] Rado : so it needs bigger trends
[2016-07-12 00:51:08] Rado : Japanese Savers Flood Into Gold Fearing The Endgame Is Coming

[2016-07-12 01:16:06] rapidtrades : not bad, a small weakening
[2016-07-12 01:16:24] rapidtrades : stops the trend of stability anyway

[2016-07-12 01:23:01] aethlios : right now no weak yan effect with okcoin futures in discount to finex (west)
[2016-07-12 01:24:23] rapidtrades : aethlios: 1USD=6.6494CNY okc rate is much lower then market
[2016-07-12 01:24:39] Rado : rapidtrades: the same trend as yesterday
[2016-07-12 01:24:50] aethlios : funny thing is stronger dollar>yuan devalues>btc pumps in china>arb drives btcusd pair up and btc appreciates to usd. So stronger dollar=stronger btc.
[2016-07-12 01:24:50] Rado : when the PBOC released BTC jumped
[2016-07-12 01:24:54] rapidtrades : artificially depresses yuan portion in the index @aethlios
[2016-07-12 01:25:06] Rado : yesterday it gave all gains back
[2016-07-12 01:25:41] rapidtrades : yeah we'll have to break away from 6.70 to make the gains stick imo
[2016-07-12 01:28:36] rapidtrades : no reason for china to stop deval with the market attention elsewhere
[2016-07-12 01:32:59] boolander : when pump fail.

[2016-07-12 01:46:03] Rado : If it doesn't fall further I think the bot will close in the next two ticks
[2016-07-12 01:46:07] Rado : that's 4 hours
[2016-07-12 01:50:12] jung1 : I dont know

[2016-07-12 03:26:01] rapidtrades : It appears from comments around the place today that the only thing Abe has ordered so far is his lunch with Bernanke

[2016-07-12 08:53:52] Jovis : why not. gbpusd is up >2% the last 24 hours, whereas btcusd hasn't moved a bit

[2016-07-12 09:22:55] Mr Blue : elmorte: pasta hopefully not with Tuna lol
[2016-07-12 09:25:04] elmorte : No, of course not...some mayo too :p
[2016-07-12 09:26:06] Mr Blue : Enjoy your Fukushima mate
[2016-07-12 09:26:43] elmorte : Nah, we get the good stuff here, from Thailand
[2016-07-12 09:29:35] Mr Blue : elmorte: doesn't matter Fukushima is all over the northern hemisphere, I wish it stayed in Japan but the winds circulate the earth, anyways I'm been an ass I also eat Fukushima it's unascable
[2016-07-12 09:31:49] Mr Blue : But tuna spawn off of Japan, and they're dumping the majority of radiation in to the sea there so it's one I try keep away from lol
[2016-07-12 09:34:47] Mr Blue : Like you I once loved some tuna paste an mayo
[2016-07-12 09:35:35] Mr Blue : Pasta*

[2016-07-12 09:43:34] Mr Blue : macios15: 665 / 670 could be the next stop
[2016-07-12 09:46:00] elmorte : I don't know @Mr Blue...we're kinda below the pacific migratory area of tuna. You're probably more likely to get mercury poisoning
[2016-07-12 09:46:15] wotan : lets do this 666 and then fly over 666.66 cmon btc
[2016-07-12 09:46:21] rullwull : I'm expecting 620 or below before the next wave up starts, it may happen till the end of this week
[2016-07-12 09:46:57] macios15 : more up incoming i think
[2016-07-12 09:47:31] Mr Blue : elmorte: what do you mean they travel from Japan to the USA and back, radiation is been leaked / pumped in to the sea at that location
[2016-07-12 09:49:46] elmorte : That area does not intersect my area anywhere
[2016-07-12 09:50:35] Mr Blue : dilution really isn't the solution, but at least they've added the genetically modified algae to the sea lol
[2016-07-12 09:51:06] Mr Blue : elmorte: where is your area? And you still get tuna from Fukushima lol
[2016-07-12 09:52:20] Mr Blue : Maybe this was all planned in advance, why else would the Japs start freezing tuna in long term storage like ten years ago
[2016-07-12 09:52:31] elmorte : I told you we get our tuna from Thailand. Probably skipjack or bonito...
[2016-07-12 09:53:09] elmorte : lol....they had excess from all the whaling 'experiments'?
[2016-07-12 09:53:48] wotan : Mr Blue most big things are planed longterm agree in this case i dont have specific infos but in many others its totally clear
[2016-07-12 09:55:12] Mr Blue : wotan: cool +1
[2016-07-12 09:55:57] Mr Blue : elmorte: it's still the pacific ocean and tuna migrate sir
[2016-07-12 09:56:33] smoker : is there a sound notification on this site when trade goes?
[2016-07-12 09:56:50] elmorte : yes, a balloon pop
[2016-07-12 09:57:11] elmorte : Mr Blue: well, I'll take my Geiger counter to the can and report back
[2016-07-12 09:57:22] smoker : i see baloon but sound?
[2016-07-12 09:57:25] elmorte : What's the healthy threshold?
[2016-07-12 09:57:39] elmorte : it's the sound of a balloon popping
[2016-07-12 09:57:53] Mr Blue : elmorte: well the gulf of Thailand
[2016-07-12 09:58:01] elmorte : or no, wait...it's the newspaper shuffle sound
[2016-07-12 09:58:06] smoker : so baloon pooped already? :)
[2016-07-12 09:58:26] Mr Blue : elmorte: that would be very cool of you, when did you buy it?? The new ones are set to shit
[2016-07-12 10:01:52] Mr Blue : When they make new ones I'm guessing they set them to government safe levels, seen as that's been increased by 1000% since Fukushima I wouldn't trust the new ones, their is no safe amount of true hot particles
[2016-07-12 10:01:56] elmorte : I found one scubadiving on a ship sunk in lat e 19th century...
[2016-07-12 10:02:41] elmorte : I just microwaved it to dry...should be as good as new
[2016-07-12 10:02:44] Mr Blue : elmorte: very cool and it still works?
[2016-07-12 10:02:56] elmorte : I'm still alive...
[2016-07-12 10:03:20] Mr Blue : elmorte: you microwaved metal?? I gotta call bullshit
[2016-07-12 10:03:32] elmorte : Took you a while :p
[2016-07-12 10:04:39] Mr Blue : elmorte: well you said you have a boat, so wasn't so far out to believe you dive shipwrecks
[2016-07-12 10:05:07] elmorte : They didn't have Geiger counters in 19th century :p
[2016-07-12 10:05:29] Mr Blue : elmorte: you said late 19th century
[2016-07-12 10:05:36] Mr Blue : And they did lol
[2016-07-12 10:06:31] elmorte : Actually, not till 20th
[2016-07-12 10:06:39] Mr Blue : I assumed you found it like 80s / 90s
[2016-07-12 10:07:01] elmorte : So....19th century starts in 1801
[2016-07-12 10:09:26] Mr Blue : A century is 100 years, the 19 hundreds was the 19th century depending on what calendar you use.
[2016-07-12 10:10:11] Mr Blue : We reached the 20th century in 2000.. though the Earth and our species is much older
[2016-07-12 10:11:25] Mr Blue : As far as I can tell the first Geiger counter was invented 1908
[2016-07-12 10:11:28] elmorte : I didn't say 19 hundreds...I specifically said late 19th century...which is up to 31.12.1900 and not a day more
[2016-07-12 10:12:10] johndoe : mr blue, we reached the 21st century in 2000
[2016-07-12 10:12:14] johndoe : right now is the 21st century
[2016-07-12 10:12:38] johndoe : you know, like 20th century FOX was started before 2000
[2016-07-12 10:14:19] Mr Blue : You said late 19th century, but ye I still made a mistake
[2016-07-12 10:14:33] elmorte : And the reason I picked that date was that a) it was before all the nuclear tests you might bring up and b) the geiger counter wasn't invented yet :p
[2016-07-12 10:14:57] johndoe : elmorte said late 19th century which means 1850-1900, not 1908
[2016-07-12 10:15:00] Mr Blue : johndoe: I know where in the 21st century was a brain fart
[2016-07-12 10:15:09] johndoe : the 1st century was not 100-200 - it was 0-100
[2016-07-12 10:15:17] johndoe : okay
[2016-07-12 10:15:17] elmorte : 1-100 technically...
[2016-07-12 10:15:21] Roevenger : another fake breakout? the volume on this one was something different...
[2016-07-12 10:15:33] johndoe : yah, 1-100
[2016-07-12 10:15:35] elmorte : 1.1.1-31.12.100
[2016-07-12 10:15:41] Mr Blue : johndoe: true but he wouldn't be that old anyways, and at first I wasn't taking him for a lier so didn't catch that one
[2016-07-12 10:16:00] elmorte : The shipwreck could be that old :)
[2016-07-12 10:17:15] Mr Blue : In any event, we know the government is always 50 years ahead, they probably did have the early ones in the 19th century seen as it was made public 1908
[2016-07-12 10:18:10] johndoe : nah, the gov. only became 50 years ahead after Roswell
[2016-07-12 10:18:16] johndoe : ;)
[2016-07-12 10:18:39] Mr Blue : Not that it would be any use, like I said I assumed he meant 1980s + didn't catch the sarcasm
[2016-07-12 10:19:28] johndoe : okay
[2016-07-12 10:19:50] Mr Blue : johndoe: or maybe after the boost they got from German scientists ?
[2016-07-12 10:20:17] johndoe : true
[2016-07-12 10:20:32] elmorte : Not to attack you in any way bud...but would it be too much of a stretch to say you believe too much of what you read @Mr Blue ?
[2016-07-12 10:21:57] Mr Blue : elmorte: yes it would be too much, as I only believe a small % of what I read online, cover ups and the elites I've researched alot
[2016-07-12 10:22:19] elmorte : alright, my bad then
[2016-07-12 10:23:17] johndoe : i've spent lots of time in Thailand and am familiar with SE asian geography and i'd say that those waters are pretty safe from fukushima
[2016-07-12 10:23:30] johndoe : gulf of thailand and indian ocean i mean
[2016-07-12 10:27:28] Mr Blue : johndoe: it's all connected, but ye does look pretty clean from Google maps, depends on the ocean currents I guess, but Tuna do migrate
[2016-07-12 10:27:51] subjective : has BTC break out of triangle yet? doesn't seem to be fully committed yet
[2016-07-12 10:28:23] Mr Blue : You only need to research effects of Chernobyl to see Fukushima is going to hit us hard
[2016-07-12 10:28:26] johndoe : it's also true that where im living (NE thailand) there are many fish farms in ponds, for better or worse. but i don't know anything about tuna.
[2016-07-12 10:29:08] johndoe : subjective: depends which triangle. it broke one, but there's another close by here
[2016-07-12 10:29:44] johndoe : lol, so far off-subject
[2016-07-12 10:30:06] Mr Blue : johndoe: yes I now eat Alaskan polak it's a white fish so goes well for fish and chips, + it's from fresh water likes in Alaska not that the rain doesn't still get them
[2016-07-12 10:31:48] Mr Blue : elmorte: where cool mate, I was only playing with you because was a strong chance you was having tuna with that pasta lol, you got me back anyways ?
[2016-07-12 10:32:57] Mr Blue : Lakes**
[2016-07-12 10:33:11] subjective : johndoe: probably 662 would confirm a break
[2016-07-12 10:33:50] johndoe : yah, 662.60 on bitfinex
[2016-07-12 10:34:05] johndoe : i'm currently short fwiw
[2016-07-12 10:34:35] subjective : johndoe: i am short as well, for a small size for fun
[2016-07-12 10:34:47] johndoe : just got short about 45min ago near the high, but i got long-term longs in another exchange
[2016-07-12 10:35:01] johndoe : yah i'm just day-trading for fun too basically
[2016-07-12 10:35:10] subjective : johndoe: i am waiting for clear signal to switch to buy..
[2016-07-12 10:35:36] subjective : same, fun size waiting for a good entry for buy
[2016-07-12 10:36:02] elmorte : johndoe: use any local exchanges?
[2016-07-12 10:36:29] johndoe : yah, coins.co.th is the best - although it is not an exchange per se
[2016-07-12 10:36:49] elmorte : more like instantaneous trade?
[2016-07-12 10:36:58] johndoe : just lets you buy and sell via thai bank accounts + some ATM card-less withdrawals if you are a thai citizen
[2016-07-12 10:37:11] johndoe : used to be foreigner as well, but now just Thai for that specific withdrawal type
[2016-07-12 10:37:27] elmorte : Ah, they have a debit card?
[2016-07-12 10:37:49] johndoe : yah, check their site, they have a buy/sell rate on front page. sometimes they have some great arbitrage opportunities
[2016-07-12 10:38:13] johndoe : sometimes they pay way too much for your BTC during a big down move - they are sometimes slow to catch up with the market price
[2016-07-12 10:38:27] elmorte : Cool. Just curious...I'm down south in Malaysia, just wanted to compare experiences
[2016-07-12 10:38:42] elmorte : Yeah, major latency between the world and local market here...
[2016-07-12 10:38:56] subjective : johndoe: are you waiting for a buy entry point?
[2016-07-12 10:39:08] johndoe : they got like 20 different withdrawal methods - mobile apps, traditional banking, card-less ATM passcodes method, pay off local credit cards, pay off local phone bills, etc.
[2016-07-12 10:39:29] elmorte : That's some next level stuff for SEA
[2016-07-12 10:39:52] johndoe : yah, so much more free here - love thailand sometimes
[2016-07-12 10:39:58] johndoe : USA sucks for banking
[2016-07-12 10:39:58] elmorte : :)
[2016-07-12 10:40:12] elmorte : Didn't they have a ban on BTC sometime ago though?
[2016-07-12 10:40:20] elmorte : Then again, they had a ban on MMA as well...
[2016-07-12 10:40:45] johndoe : subjective: not exactly - i might cut a little if it breaks the high from an hour ago, but yah, looking at 662 basically
[2016-07-12 10:41:21] johndoe : elmorte: yah the ban was never enforced, and the bank of thailand withdrew it a few months later
[2016-07-12 10:41:26] johndoe : they just didn't understand btc i think
[2016-07-12 10:41:57] subjective : johndoe: i am waiting for 600-620 to close short, or switch when it breaks 662
[2016-07-12 10:42:03] johndoe : thai gov. is one of the most likely govs in the world to not enforce a law or order
[2016-07-12 10:42:35] johndoe : subjective: yah i got limit orders to close my position gradually starting around 640 down to 612ish
[2016-07-12 10:43:00] elmorte : it's such a fascinating culture/system for an outsider
[2016-07-12 10:43:00] subjective : not a bad way to go to slowly get out
[2016-07-12 10:43:25] elmorte : I loved Fear & Loathing in Bangkok, dunno if you read it
[2016-07-12 10:43:33] johndoe : elmorte: yah, nowadays they have MMA pretty often. they get the US matches and local matches
[2016-07-12 10:43:51] elmorte : Yeah, ONE FC had a major event just in May
[2016-07-12 10:43:56] johndoe : elmorte: nah, haven't read that one, but i saw the cover - i got to asia books a lot :)
[2016-07-12 10:44:08] johndoe : go to*
[2016-07-12 10:45:21] johndoe : elmorte: the culture is definitely unique - for better or worse. But i like it overall.
[2016-07-12 10:46:10] johndoe : subjective: yah, slowly getting out spreads your positions like a dollar-cost averaging strategy
[2016-07-12 10:47:34] johndoe : subjective: i try to place them pretty specifically based near critical support areas as well as several points below to catch "falling knife" liquidation orders and panic selling
[2016-07-12 10:48:54] elmorte : johndoe: which charts do you use to deduce support areas?
[2016-07-12 10:49:25] subjective : johndoe: that is a good strategy
[2016-07-12 10:50:01] johndoe : well usually bitfinex as my default, but sometimes you gotta check bitstamp and okcoin's btcusd for specific USD points because this exchange is based on those 3 prices.
[2016-07-12 10:50:27] johndoe : i also check the cnyusd okcoin/huobi price to get a better feel
[2016-07-12 10:50:39] johndoe : chinese prices almost always lead usd prices by a second or two
[2016-07-12 10:50:53] johndoe : and have more volume so you get more reliable support/resistance areas
[2016-07-12 10:52:34] johndoe : more of an art than a science though - a lot of it just feeling the market and this exchange in particular. basically i just have a few tabs open and i rapidly switch between this page and ok-coin's cnyusd and bitfinex's btcusd, to try to quickly find breaks and oversold/overbought short-term moments
[2016-07-12 10:53:03] elmorte : yeah, I found that following the Chinese prices real time was way more useful for scalping
[2016-07-12 10:53:05] johndoe : this exchange tends to get carried away because of high leverage, so you can catch those liquidation type orders - those are my favs
[2016-07-12 10:53:50] elmorte : liqdn order saved my ass last time we went under 600
[2016-07-12 10:55:19] johndoe : yah, i've kept a long-term buy-and-hold since about 420ish. so i just held on during that entire move down to 550
[2016-07-12 10:55:43] subjective : it overreacts with liquidation orders, i need to get on the right side.
[2016-07-12 10:55:46] elmorte : I was long at 640+....a horrible day that was :(
[2016-07-12 10:55:52] johndoe : but after bitfinex's last temp. shutdown, i came here and now have a lot more freedom to daytrade with great leverage
[2016-07-12 10:56:04] subjective : looks like it's going to break up now
[2016-07-12 10:56:24] johndoe : yah, i bought $10k at 655.42 a few mins ago
[2016-07-12 10:56:41] johndoe : but i'm not convinced totally, so still net short
[2016-07-12 11:00:30] subjective : yep, market haven't fully decided yet
[2016-07-12 11:02:34] elmorte : So....halving was a non-event so far?
[2016-07-12 11:02:46] elmorte : Hash rate is steady, even increasing...
[2016-07-12 11:02:56] Mr Blue : http://www.globalresearch.ca/28-signs-that-the-west-coast-is-being-absolutely-fried-with-nuclear-radiation-from-fukushima/5355280
[2016-07-12 11:03:46] elmorte : Switch to Mediterranean fish @Mr Blue
[2016-07-12 11:03:50] Mr Blue : Or for you financial guys that like Forbes http://www.globalresearch.ca/28-signs-that-the-west-coast-is-being-absolutely-fried-with-nuclear-radiation-from-fukushima/5355280
[2016-07-12 11:04:04] elmorte : Wrong link....
[2016-07-12 11:04:15] elmorte : But Forbes blog is not Forbes....
[2016-07-12 11:04:24] johndoe : elmorte: yeah, i thought hash rate would drop too. But it appears it didn't because mining equipment is still profitable in regards to electric costs, since they already paid for the mining equip.
[2016-07-12 11:04:26] Mr Blue : elmorte: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jeffmcmahon/2013/04/10/epa-draft-stirs-fears-of-radically-relaxed-radiation-guidelines/#5a5748f1ea2b
[2016-07-12 11:04:37] elmorte : Yeah, that's the blog @Mr Blue
[2016-07-12 11:04:53] subjective : wouldn't it be less risky if u always trade breakout.. less reward and risk
[2016-07-12 11:04:56] elmorte : johndoe: fair enough
[2016-07-12 11:05:21] elmorte : Lot of nonsense gets posted on Forbes' blogs...
[2016-07-12 11:06:11] johndoe : subjective: not necessarily because there are too many false breakouts.
[2016-07-12 11:06:37] Mr Blue : elmorte: your saying Forbes.com is a blog?? If so where can I post my rants lol
[2016-07-12 11:06:59] johndoe : subjective: often the reverse strategy is preferable - meaning being long for a long time and getting short on those long breakouts if we are in a consolidation period type of market
[2016-07-12 11:07:41] subjective : johndoe: great info
[2016-07-12 11:08:50] johndoe : subjective: yah, giving away my best strategies :)
[2016-07-12 11:08:56] subjective : order history swings on these fake outs..
[2016-07-12 11:09:15] Mr Blue : For example, the new EPA guide refers to International Atomic Energy Agency guidelines that suggest intervention is not necessary until drinking water is contaminated with radioactive iodine 131 at a concentration of 81,000 picocuries per liter. This is 27,000 times less stringent than the EPA rule of 3 picocuries per liter
[2016-07-12 11:09:42] subjective : it's like "omg, it's a break out", then "wait, hold your horses, it's fake", then repeat
[2016-07-12 11:09:50] Mr Blue : And I was just saying they increased it by 1000x to you guys lol,, 27k much worse lol
[2016-07-12 11:10:23] johndoe : yah, i've got many years of experience in that emotion :( took a long time to surpress it
[2016-07-12 11:11:52] subjective : johndoe: i know, i am pretty calm today, but also got in on the fake out as well. this needs discipline..
[2016-07-12 11:12:24] johndoe : Mr Blue: i can't say i have any idea whether the EPA is absurdly strict or not. These types of decisions are usually suspect and arbitrary - similar to protein consumption recommendations or carbs, etc, from the gov. in the past.
[2016-07-12 11:13:49] Mr Blue : johndoe: ye but if they just increase safe levels after nuclear disasters, how can we trust the gov and if nothing is wrong why do it
[2016-07-12 11:13:59] johndoe : subjective: yeah, i bought that $10k before as a kinda emotional response to the chinese exchanges' moves since this exchange and bitfinex hadn't reacted. i had too much leverage anyways so i don't mind too much even though its lower now.
[2016-07-12 11:16:04] johndoe : Mr Blue: i mean i've read plenty of stuff about fukushima - i get links in email like every week from my mom, lol. But i'm just not particularly convinced because i haven't seen any reputable orgs that i'm familiar with worry too much about it as a USA issue. I just really don't know, but i'm skeptical about this type of stuff, as well as chemtrails, etc.
[2016-07-12 11:17:10] Mr Blue : johndoe: since Fukushima how many dead seals / birds you seen??
[2016-07-12 11:17:33] johndoe : Mr Blue: uhm, you mean like in person?
[2016-07-12 11:17:45] Mr Blue : I would mention the whales but that could just be because our magnetic field is also fucked at the moment
[2016-07-12 11:18:26] Mr Blue : johndoe: ye I know you've been seeing few dead birds in person at least, as for the seals you see that on the news
[2016-07-12 11:19:43] johndoe : Mr Blue: well i live in thailand, but i honestly cannot recall seeing any dead birds when i've been at the beach in phuket/ko samui/pattaya since fukushima
[2016-07-12 11:22:49] Mr Blue : johndoe: beach doesn't matter Fukushima is also in the air
[2016-07-12 11:24:05] Mr Blue : I watch documentaries and seen them pull out bright blue coloured crabs from the pacific, shit isn't natural http://enenews.com/officials-report-rare-genetic-mutations-pacific-seafood-experts-never-anything-like-photos-show-red-crabs-completely-white-shockingly-bright-blue-almost-unnatural-yellow-legs-environment-coul
[2016-07-12 11:24:20] johndoe : can't say i have any scientific background the judge if it really has much of an impact. the ocean is absurdly gigantic as is the air - i'm just not sure radiation travels in the manner that other elements travel or that it would not be dissipated.
[2016-07-12 11:26:27] Mr Blue : johndoe: so your siding with the government thinking dilution is the solution, yet some radioactive elements will be floating around for over 10,000 years and more is released from Fukushima by the minute lol
[2016-07-12 11:27:14] Mr Blue : Anyways rant over as I really need to get back to trading lol
[2016-07-12 11:27:21] subjective : johndoe: do u trade on 0kcoin?
[2016-07-12 11:27:23] johndoe : even that story has this quote: ABC News, Jul 19, 2014: It is extremely unusual for red king crabs to be blue. Scott Kent, of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game in Nome, told the AP that blue crabs turn up “once in a blue moon.” He suspects the crab’s unusual coloring is the result of a mutation.
[2016-07-12 11:27:43] johndoe : extremely unusual or a "mutation" doesn't mean it is because of radiation
[2016-07-12 11:27:47] elmorte : I say we bomb the place...cut it off at the source.
[2016-07-12 11:27:55] johndoe : but again, i truly have no idea
[2016-07-12 11:28:07] elmorte : So I can have my tuna pasta in peace
[2016-07-12 11:28:33] elmorte : chunks rather..
[2016-07-12 11:29:21] johndoe : Mr Blue: nah, not siding with the gov (i'm about as libertarian as they come), just saying that i have no idea and it seems like an unsettled issue by most scientific orgs - despite some scientists saying things that are alarming, etc.
[2016-07-12 11:29:32] johndoe : not that i trust most scientific orgs. even necessarily
[2016-07-12 11:29:40] Mr Blue : johndoe: funny timing for them to evolve though wouldn't you say?
[2016-07-12 11:30:17] johndoe : subjective: nah, i tried BTCC once, but i gave up. i just couldn't handle the chinese-ness of it all. So i just stick with bitfinex and here for now
[2016-07-12 11:30:21] Mr Blue : elmorte: ? I'll try not to mention it again sir
[2016-07-12 11:30:54] johndoe : Mr Blue: to me the quote means that it is very rare - but it has occurred prior to fukushima
[2016-07-12 11:31:27] johndoe : Mr Blue: otherwise he would said it is absolutely unprecendented or something
[2016-07-12 11:31:34] Mr Blue : johndoe: yes after they was bombing small islands in the pacific it probably did, but not on such large scale
[2016-07-12 11:32:48] elmorte : On a _totally unrelated note_, I really like Alice in Wonderland
[2016-07-12 11:33:17] johndoe : yah, never read the book which is probably superior, but always liked disney's adaptation
[2016-07-12 11:33:59] elmorte : But that part where she falls down the rabbit hole....just seemed to last forever to my pre-teen mind...
[2016-07-12 11:34:13] Mr Blue : The mad hatter and me go back a long way, that's where I get all my research lmao
[2016-07-12 11:34:15] elmorte : It was required reading in elementary
[2016-07-12 11:34:52] johndoe : hah, yah, it is kinda scary when you are young. but then her dress blossoms out as a parachute and everything is sabai-sabai
[2016-07-12 11:35:55] johndoe : never saw the new johnny-depp adaptation though. it just seemed really unappealing to me
[2016-07-12 11:36:02] elmorte : Probably a reflection on Carol's mind
[2016-07-12 11:36:21] elmorte : johndoe: it's got its (cinematic) moments
[2016-07-12 11:37:13] johndoe : thats good to hear
[2016-07-12 11:40:20] johndoe : elmorte: are you really familiar with Thailand?
[2016-07-12 11:41:36] johndoe : i've only been to malaysia once (Penang and KL for a short holiday/visa run), but i've spent many years here in Thailand
[2016-07-12 11:41:42] elmorte : Hardly. Been to several islands, and Bangkok a few times...had a girlfriend in Bangkok (albeit an expat)...had a good friend study in Chiang Mai (also an expat)
[2016-07-12 11:42:01] elmorte : I'm guessing you're near Chiang Mai?
[2016-07-12 11:42:23] elmorte : Likewise for me in Malaysia
[2016-07-12 11:43:32] elmorte : Don't piss Thai ppl off...that's the main thing I learnt. And smile even when you're cursing
[2016-07-12 11:43:35] johndoe : elmorte: nah, i'm in Isaan in the very north-east - any more specific and i'd really be betraying my pseudonym here :)
[2016-07-12 11:44:05] johndoe : lol yah, they love to fight in packs - have no reservation about bring 10 friends to fight one other guy
[2016-07-12 11:44:44] johndoe : seen a couple brief drunken machete confrontations - but they didn't have bloodshed thankfully - just tons of loud yelling and rushing around
[2016-07-12 11:46:53] johndoe : one time, in a family restaurant at about 2am in a pretty small town, this group of about 10 guys just ran in (this place had no doors) and started yelling and trying to get this guy who was fleeing. Then a black ex-Iraq veteran new friend of mine stood up from our table and slammed his hand on the table and said "SHUT UP - WE ARE EATING"
[2016-07-12 11:47:15] johndoe : the guys that ran in had a few knives and beer bottles but no gun
[2016-07-12 11:47:44] elmorte : He caught the dude?
[2016-07-12 11:48:10] elmorte : Oh wait, slammed his OWN hand on the table....
[2016-07-12 11:48:13] elmorte : :)
[2016-07-12 11:48:15] johndoe : everyone got a little quiet - and then he said the same thing again even louder! finally everyone totally shut up and just looked at the black guy and slowly kinda left the restaurant with the female owners shoo-ing them away
[2016-07-12 11:48:31] elmorte : hahaha...get off my lawn.
[2016-07-12 11:48:34] johndoe : it was truly the most bizarre thing i've ever seen here
[2016-07-12 11:49:03] johndoe : he had these aviator sunglasses on - all night so you couldnt see his eyes - but his face had this intensity
[2016-07-12 11:49:17] elmorte : balls of steel
[2016-07-12 11:49:26] johndoe : it was really intimidating i guess, cause no one challenged him in any way.
[2016-07-12 11:50:27] johndoe : yah, he was teaching english here. he seemed really jaded about many things including his thai wife and the war. he was actually a private contractor who lost his job when obama pulled out of iraq
[2016-07-12 11:50:40] johndoe : he really wanted to go back to iraq :) he really liked the salary
[2016-07-12 11:50:54] johndoe : and i think he got that war-hunger thing
[2016-07-12 11:51:15] Mr Blue : johndoe: I might visit Thailand after my trip to Nepal, how's the Bitcoin merchant situation over there guys?
[2016-07-12 11:51:17] elmorte : How's he doing now?
[2016-07-12 11:52:16] johndoe : elmorte: haven't seen him in years, but i drove by his old restaurant that he rented with his wife and it had new thai owners. so i got no idea. i never really got close to him, even though he was really friendly with me
[2016-07-12 11:52:42] johndoe : too much of an age difference and personality style, lol. he was about 45 and i'm in my late 20's.
[2016-07-12 11:53:19] johndoe : also, i moved away for about a year before i came back
[2016-07-12 11:53:39] johndoe : when i say away i mean Chiang Mai in the northeast
[2016-07-12 11:53:52] johndoe : Mr Blue: they got no idea what bitcoin is here
[2016-07-12 11:54:09] johndoe : Mr Blue: you gotta convert it to Thai baht with companies like coins.co.th
[2016-07-12 11:54:20] johndoe : but you get good exchange rates and they have like $1 fees or less
[2016-07-12 11:54:34] Mr Blue : johndoe: Bangkok had plenty of Bitcoin merchant ?
[2016-07-12 11:54:35] johndoe : cheaper than the ridiculous $6 ATM fees here for overseas banks
[2016-07-12 11:54:51] Mr Blue : Cool
[2016-07-12 11:55:26] johndoe : Mr Blue: really? i guess that makes sense. They are miles ahead in this type of thing over most parts of the country. I've never lived in bangkok so i wouldn't know.
[2016-07-12 11:57:00] johndoe : Mr Blue: yah, i'm really being too open here, but i pretty much use btc to thai baht transfers for everything i buy. i try to avoid the traditional banking system for many idealogical reasons as well as fees.
[2016-07-12 11:58:02] johndoe : Mr Blue: if you got a thai citizen friend it definitely helps to use their national ID number for a quick ATM withdrawal of up to $20k baht with a simple passcode delivered via email. thats my fav method. $1 fee too
[2016-07-12 11:58:49] elmorte : wow, that's brilliant. Is there a premium though?
[2016-07-12 11:58:55] Mr Blue : https://coinmap.org/#/world/14.53573263/101.79931641/7
[2016-07-12 12:00:07] Mr Blue : johndoe: you tried localbitcoins over there? Or one of these new Bitcoin debit cards?
[2016-07-12 12:00:45] johndoe : elmorte: well it depends. as of this moment, they have a fairly bad exchange rate of only the thai baht equivalent of $640. but there are no fees or less than $1 USD
[2016-07-12 12:00:54] johndoe : right now is an upswing in the price
[2016-07-12 12:01:06] johndoe : you gotta catch them during the downswings for their price to be higher than the real market price
[2016-07-12 12:01:14] elmorte : Yup, same here...
[2016-07-12 12:01:25] johndoe : i've gotten as high as 6% arbitration profits which is ridiculous
[2016-07-12 12:01:29] Mr Blue : Well Thailand has more Bitcoin merchants than Nepal that's for sure
[2016-07-12 12:01:30] elmorte : cept we don't have those cool withdrawal features
[2016-07-12 12:01:33] johndoe : i feel bad for them sometimes lol
[2016-07-12 12:02:40] johndoe : they really are slow sometimes with the price - which is bizarre, because their owner/sister company coins.co.ph is really fast with price
[2016-07-12 12:03:15] elmorte : One probably uses the USD index denominated in THB
[2016-07-12 12:03:21] elmorte : The other demand & supply...
[2016-07-12 12:03:39] johndoe : coins.co.ph is bigger and started first - they operate similarly in the philippines, but they have more features probably because so many filipinos send money back home from overseas.
[2016-07-12 12:03:50] johndoe : i've never actually used them though
[2016-07-12 12:04:09] elmorte : Malaysia can regularly be US$10 higher than China! Never mind the USD exchanges...
[2016-07-12 12:04:50] johndoe : yah, probably. they do tend to correct their prices quickly after i make 5 BTC withdrawals in one order to capture all of that arb. profit. :)
[2016-07-12 12:05:00] elmorte : lol
[2016-07-12 12:05:45] johndoe : elmorte: yah, most places are really bad with their premiums, south africa, as another example is worse than USA for sure
[2016-07-12 12:06:40] elmorte : Yup...I use BitX and they offer Rand/BTC as well. The trollbox was full of SAs complaining about the premium
[2016-07-12 12:07:11] Mr Blue : USD will have the same buying power as the Liberian $ soon enough, buy Bitcoin now I say lol
[2016-07-12 12:08:39] johndoe : well, keep in mind you have to compare USD to another currency - not to BTC or gold - for most people's situation. I like USD more than almost any other fiat currency, partly because it is accepted everywhere with good exchange rates
[2016-07-12 12:08:47] Mr Blue : Liberia the only US colony in Africa
[2016-07-12 12:09:10] johndoe : so, i'd say usd>rand , even though gold>USD
[2016-07-12 12:09:46] johndoe : Mr Blue: yah, not that it seems to have worked out very well
[2016-07-12 12:09:56] johndoe : Mr Blue: at least for the liberians
[2016-07-12 12:10:07] Mr Blue : johndoe: USD and the Yuan both in a fight to the bottom, but think I'd rather hold Yuan
[2016-07-12 12:10:08] elmorte : Yes, most certainly...i got into BTC because our local currency was tanking
[2016-07-12 12:10:34] elmorte : Went from 3 to a dollar to 4.4
[2016-07-12 12:10:56] Mr Blue : johndoe: haha true, but they did it to their self's, eating bloody baby's... what sort of humans do that
[2016-07-12 12:11:25] johndoe : its also great how you can use USD in Laos and everyone is happy to accept it instead of laos kip. Or in cambodia it is basically the official currency of the land for anything about $0.99 transactions (those use local coins instead)
[2016-07-12 12:11:46] johndoe : above $0.99*
[2016-07-12 12:11:51] elmorte : Yup, can confirm for Cambodia
[2016-07-12 12:12:06] Mr Blue : I watched a vice episode on the Liberian civil war, very disgusting
[2016-07-12 12:12:31] Tetsuo : General butt-naked didn´t impress you?
[2016-07-12 12:12:47] johndoe : yah that EM down-move was pretty hectic for malaysia and others. thailand managed it pretty well though with the baht not losing too much (unfortunately for me).
[2016-07-12 12:13:47] elmorte : yeah, we were the worst of the bunch
[2016-07-12 12:14:09] Mr Blue : Still the fact newly free slaves was given the option to start again in Africa with their own country was worth doing, even if it was done from a racist prospective, in fact I think black people in the US can still join Liberia to this day
[2016-07-12 12:14:41] Mr Blue : Tetsuo: banana ye general butt naked, man you seen what I seen lol
[2016-07-12 12:14:49] Mr Blue : Haha**
[2016-07-12 12:15:29] elmorte : Damn...TIL. My extent of knowledge of Liberia was limited to George Weah and something about a first female president
[2016-07-12 12:18:19] Mr Blue : Tetsuo: mark my words general butt naked will run the country soon enough, his new found belief in god is fake, he uses it as a reason to keep his troops close as well, that's what I seen from that documentary, one sneaky son of a bitch
[2016-07-12 12:19:47] Tetsuo : there is also a movie about him: "The redemption of general butt naked" Me persoanlly, i wasn´t so convinced about his conversion to a newborn christian, : - D , but that´s just my opinion
[2016-07-12 12:20:32] Mr Blue : Tetsuo: +1
[2016-07-12 12:21:09] johndoe : I got not idea about Liberia, but that sounds pretty f'd up. Kinda makes me appreciate living under a military junta here in Thailand, or a Trump/Clinton presidency in the US. Sometimes Westerners have no idea how good we have it relatively
[2016-07-12 12:22:34] johndoe : just read this article about the upcoming constitutional referendum... more bizarre than satire: http://www.prachatai.com/english/node/6351
[2016-07-12 12:23:42] Tetsuo : it´s also cheaper to bribe the police in SE Asia
[2016-07-12 12:24:03] johndoe : On Monday, 11 July 2016, Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, the PM and junta head, said that if the August draft constitution referendum fails, he will draft another by himself, adding that he could do anything since he already underwent military parachute training, Thairath reported. “If things remain unsettled, I will draft it [the constitution] myself, not as I wish, but as the people want it to be. And let’s see if it passes or not,” said Gen Prayut. “There is nothing in this world I can’t do. As a soldier, I’ve been through a lot, risking my life so many times. When I was in the infantry at the 21st Military Circle, I underwent parachute training. I had to jump and land by myself. Once I deployed the parachute, I knew that I can do anything. My life is under my control.”
[2016-07-12 12:24:36] johndoe : lol
[2016-07-12 12:25:04] Tetsuo : i once drove high in opium and with a bottle of whiskey between my legs on a scooter in cambodia, police stopped me and gave me that look. I offered them 5$, which they happily took and let me ride again after that
[2016-07-12 12:25:32] johndoe : haha, yah i love cambodia when it comes to drugs
[2016-07-12 12:25:42] Tetsuo : mhmmmmmm
[2016-07-12 12:25:44] johndoe : $5 is pretty generous really
[2016-07-12 12:25:51] Mr Blue : Tetsuo: great story
[2016-07-12 12:26:56] johndoe : never got into opium, but have my share of opiate pills/cannabis/benzo experiences in cambodia
[2016-07-12 12:27:21] Tetsuo : johndoe: do you know that whiskey they offer there, cambodian made? "khmwer whiskey 31" worst booze i have ever had, drank 2 full bottles of it anyway
[2016-07-12 12:27:43] Tetsuo : johndoe: yeah opiate pills and benzos are dirt cheap in the pharmacy
[2016-07-12 12:27:50] elmorte : Most I did in Cambodia was eat too much a happy pizza...
[2016-07-12 12:28:05] johndoe : Tetsuo: lol never touched the stuff. after drinking plenty of Thai whiskey, i didn't dare to bother with cambodian whiskey.
[2016-07-12 12:28:32] elmorte : Sang som?
[2016-07-12 12:28:33] Mr Blue : When I was last in Bulgaria I crossed the road in from of a police car slowly and just waved at them, this Bulgarian gypsy started laughing like it wasn't the done thing lol, but as far as I'm concerned they're there to do as tourists say
[2016-07-12 12:28:56] Tetsuo : : - D
[2016-07-12 12:29:14] johndoe : yah hong thong and sang som - both pretty crappy unless you are already drunk
[2016-07-12 12:29:32] johndoe : but they do water it down with ice, so that does help
[2016-07-12 12:29:41] elmorte : yeah, we used to love that when we were younger. Bottle of coke and sang som...
[2016-07-12 12:29:56] elmorte : Make your own buckets
[2016-07-12 12:30:15] elmorte : horrible horrible stuff. Great memories though :)
[2016-07-12 12:30:42] elmorte : In east Malaysia they have something they call Monkey Juice...
[2016-07-12 12:31:05] elmorte : A type of rum....but a quarter of a price of any branded spirits
[2016-07-12 12:31:19] elmorte : Same story
[2016-07-12 12:32:13] johndoe : hah, monkey juice
[2016-07-12 12:32:17] elmorte : I do remember finding generic xanax in a Cambodian pharmacy. That was pretty cool
[2016-07-12 12:32:25] brendens20 : hi guys how does one trade using this platform...im a newbie:)
[2016-07-12 12:32:28] johndoe : i don't know why its so hard to make liquor taste decent
[2016-07-12 12:32:34] elmorte : Still cheaper in Thailand though
[2016-07-12 12:33:01] elmorte : johndoe: haha...age old dillema of potency vs taste I suppose...
[2016-07-12 12:33:55] johndoe : yah cambodia is still the best for xanax. Laos recently got stricter - now you can only get valium and lexomil (lexomil is pretty good though). The only exception is that 10 pills in a box xanax for like $15
[2016-07-12 12:34:09] Mr Blue : Also I asked some for directions with Cannabis in my pocket, because why not lol they're there to serve just like the UK police still should be, ask one of them for directions they'll probably want to check your pockets lol, but Bulgarian police can be fairly cool, last year in Varna I was at some war hero celebration so I asked one of the police what it was, they told me, but I also seen a Bulgarian get asked for ID for crossing same point I did, if they'd of asked me for I'd I'd of been like wtf you talking about
[2016-07-12 12:34:19] johndoe : but valium is still only a few pennies
[2016-07-12 12:34:21] johndoe : in laos
[2016-07-12 12:34:27] elmorte : Haven't tried lexomil
[2016-07-12 12:34:54] Mr Blue : ID**
[2016-07-12 12:35:21] elmorte : $15 per strip of xanax? What dosage?
[2016-07-12 12:35:48] johndoe : never traveled to eastern europe, but i imagine that area is pretty lax, especially for tourists
[2016-07-12 12:36:54] elmorte : Bulgaria is more of South East
[2016-07-12 12:37:02] johndoe : i forget the exact price, it was like 2 years ago, but it went from very cheap generics to zero generics overnight. And all that was left at the places i had bought from in earlier trips was $15 per strip of 1mg xanax (possibly 2mg), and $1 for like 20 valium or something
