This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2016-06-28 02:01:16] lockhedge : BitMEX_Arthur: thanks
[2016-06-28 02:02:06] lockhedge : micmix: so you think it's an AWS issue?
[2016-06-28 02:02:30] micmix : lockhedge: looks like it
[2016-06-28 02:02:56] micmix : but I don't see any BitMEX timeouts
[2016-06-28 02:05:18] micmix : lockhedge: btw, grats on beating me on the leaderboards
[2016-06-28 02:05:21] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETHXBT`: Sell 179 @ 0.02098
[2016-06-28 02:19:36] lockhedge : micmix: thanks :)
[2016-06-28 02:39:15] Rune : bitfinex 660 woooo baby we have to catch up
[2016-06-28 03:00:46] mbaril : hey hey guys
[2016-06-28 03:00:49] mbaril : so what is the situation
[2016-06-28 03:21:08] subjective : Where can I get historical funding?
[2016-06-28 03:22:36] BitMEX_Wally : https://www.bitmex.com/app/fundingHistory
[2016-06-28 03:39:42] QuantFocus : BitMEX_Arthur: how long til you believe the xbt hedge needs to be activated?
[2016-06-28 03:39:52] fineregex : yes :(
[2016-06-28 03:40:13] fineregex : i started using this website because XBTUSD long was cheap enough, 0.0043% per 8 hours.
[2016-06-28 03:40:47] QuantFocus : fineregex: it fluctuates quite a bit depending on sentiment
[2016-06-28 03:40:51] fineregex : what i borrowed is essentialy USD, virtual or not doesnt matter
[2016-06-28 03:40:57] BitMEX_Arthur : 6-8 weeks after halving imo
[2016-06-28 03:40:58] QuantFocus : i've seen premiums approach 1%/8h
[2016-06-28 03:41:13] QuantFocus : BitMEX_Arthur: ah really? that far after?
[2016-06-28 03:41:50] QuantFocus : good to know. the whole 'death spiral' theory is disconcerting indeed
[2016-06-28 03:43:38] Rado : China higher than bfx now
[2016-06-28 03:43:51] fineregex : 0.0043%/ 8 h is 67% / year interest rate on USD barely acceptable, just on special occassions.
[2016-06-28 03:44:31] fineregex : but not .1166% / h is >300% / year :-X
[2016-06-28 03:44:40] Rado : Fineregex you are looking at it tge wrong way
[2016-06-28 03:44:43] fineregex : per8h*
[2016-06-28 03:45:52] fineregex : you can only really run such a market if you have liquidity to hedge and willing to pass on your interest rate
[2016-06-28 03:46:26] fineregex : no hedging sounds dangerous, really none?
[2016-06-28 03:46:48] QuantFocus : fineregex: it's not an interest charge though, per se
[2016-06-28 03:47:22] QuantFocus : mark price is adjusted by the funding rate when it occurs, so you're essentially net neutral
[2016-06-28 03:47:48] fineregex : lol
[2016-06-28 03:48:16] fineregex : doesnt make a different for your final balance
[2016-06-28 03:48:56] QuantFocus : i suppose. cost of doing business
[2016-06-28 03:49:18] BitMEX_Wally : The mark price jumps after funding is charged, and then decays down over the next 8 hours. So effectively you pay for the funding over 8 hours rather than all at once.
[2016-06-28 03:49:18] QuantFocus : it's unlikely you're maintaining your position for a year, so annualizing it is arbitrary anyway
[2016-06-28 03:49:57] fineregex : yearly is the right measure
[2016-06-28 03:50:07] QuantFocus : disagree.
[2016-06-28 03:50:14] fineregex : if your provider receives USD liquidity for 1% /year
[2016-06-28 03:50:16] QuantFocus : trading period is more appropriate imo
[2016-06-28 03:50:26] fineregex : then they can pass that on you for 1.1%/year or something
[2016-06-28 03:50:40] BitMEX_Wally : If you want to see the annualised rate of the current funding then look at the Fair Basis Rate: https://www.bitmex.com/app/contract/XBTUSD
[2016-06-28 03:50:43] fineregex : 300% is a failed experiment
[2016-06-28 03:50:53] fineregex : at best
[2016-06-28 03:50:55] BitMEX_Wally : 0.0448% every 8 hours gives 49% annualised
[2016-06-28 03:50:55] fineregex : :X
[2016-06-28 03:51:11] QuantFocus : fineregex: but you'll never pay that
[2016-06-28 03:51:22] QuantFocus : unless it earns you 1500%, in which case, who cares
[2016-06-28 03:51:47] Rado : Exactly QuantFocus
[2016-06-28 03:52:24] Rado : He is fine turning 0.1 BTC into 10 BTC, but cheap on the rate
[2016-06-28 03:52:34] QuantFocus : right...
[2016-06-28 03:52:54] micmix : average rate since introducing new rules is 0.2% or 219% annualized
[2016-06-28 03:53:11] Rado : Try trading BTC/USD without leverage abd see how much you can make
[2016-06-28 03:53:21] micmix : but I can bet it will stay that high
[2016-06-28 03:53:23] QuantFocus : it's expensive, but also out of context given the short data window
[2016-06-28 03:53:50] fineregex : "BitMEX does not charge fees on funding payments"
[2016-06-28 03:53:50] QuantFocus : it's only been a few weeks...in a bull market
[2016-06-28 03:54:05] fineregex : if the sole purpose of the charge is to balance the market
[2016-06-28 03:54:16] fineregex : then the receivers should receive more
[2016-06-28 03:54:19] micmix : yep, it will stay high as long as we are in a bull market, bc it's worth it for high leverage
[2016-06-28 03:54:47] QuantFocus : fineregex: it's an incentive to liquidity providers
[2016-06-28 03:54:56] Rado : Receivers get 1100
[2016-06-28 03:55:10] QuantFocus : presumably people who are also somewhat bearish to neutral
[2016-06-28 03:55:13] Rado : 1100
[2016-06-28 03:55:35] fineregex : arent all rates symterical?
[2016-06-28 03:56:02] fineregex : for example in case you have 90% shorts and 10% longs in such a virtual market, then the longs should get 90 times more than the shorters need to pay
[2016-06-28 03:56:27] Rado : 100% jeez
[2016-06-28 03:56:28] fineregex : and still it is flawned since it is not real market, just some enforced balance
[2016-06-28 03:56:34] micmix : shorts=longs always, you can't have more shorts than longs
[2016-06-28 03:56:39] fineregex : * 9 times
[2016-06-28 03:57:08] BitMEX_Wally : Every trade is between a buyer and a seller, so longs = shorts
[2016-06-28 03:57:41] Adura : Only difference is who has more margin room...!
[2016-06-28 04:00:12] Rado : I am going to pay now :-)
[2016-06-28 04:16:37] elmorte : Damn, CNH is 6.67....I had to sell USD at 6.62 over the weekend :(
[2016-06-28 05:14:07] REKT : Liquidated long on `XBTUSD`: Sell 20 @ 645.93
[2016-06-28 05:16:24] fineregex : BitMEX_Wally: "0.0448% every 8 hours gives 49% annualised" 1.00448^1195 71%
[2016-06-28 05:17:48] elmorte : It's not compounded
[2016-06-28 05:18:27] elmorte : your funding does not get reinvested at the same price...
[2016-06-28 05:18:58] Rune : 100k buy I like it
[2016-06-28 07:21:12] REKT : Liquidated long on `XBTUSD`: Sell 10000 @ 644.36
[2016-06-28 07:23:07] REKT : Liquidated long on `XBTUSD`: Sell 1000 @ 642.10
[2016-06-28 08:03:20] helllo : hello
[2016-06-28 08:10:00] men : hashocean scammed
[2016-06-28 08:10:20] men : http://cointelegraph.com/news/major-bitcoin-miner-disappears-along-with-millions-of-dollars-worth-of-bitcoin
[2016-06-28 08:20:53] men : panic buy
[2016-06-28 08:24:43] fineregex : elmorte: noo to compare interest rates billed in different time intervals you do not use addition but ^ exponential! It reduces your capital 1195 times per year and raises your liquidation price each time. if you wanted to keep exactly the same liquidation price and position site you would need to deposit a bit every 8 hours. Or you would need to shrink your position a bit every 8 hours - exponential @BitMEX_Wally
[2016-06-28 08:25:10] fineregex : 'position size
[2016-06-28 08:25:37] fineregex : men: panic buy?:D
[2016-06-28 08:39:43] zanza : hasocean was scammed?
[2016-06-28 08:39:49] zanza : wtf i have a lot of money over there
[2016-06-28 08:42:23] zanza : j/k
[2016-06-28 08:43:18] zanza : its exit scam btw
[2016-06-28 09:02:29] RoftheN : So if that happened, why is the bitcoin price not low?
[2016-06-28 09:03:15] elmorte : fineregex: wut?! you ever had a term deposit loan?
[2016-06-28 09:04:09] elmorte : term deposit *or loan
[2016-06-28 09:05:15] RoftheN : http://mashable.com/2016/06/27/bitcoin-auction-australia/#FMCuRYvQ8ZqQ
[2016-06-28 09:17:06] elmorte : fineregex: do a simple calculation, if 8hr interest is 1% consistently for 365 days, and you have 10,000 contracts. how much you pay per year?
[2016-06-28 09:21:04] RoftheN : A lot
[2016-06-28 09:22:34] fineregex : $10000 (1,01^(365*3)-1)
[2016-06-28 09:26:33] fineregex : that is assuming as if you did deposit this 1% consumption every 8 hours and you needed to pay the same interest rate on that additional money too
[2016-06-28 09:29:08] elmorte : no, that's compound interest
[2016-06-28 09:29:24] elmorte : You're confusing compound interest with simple interest
[2016-06-28 09:29:26] fineregex : (practically you may chose not to do so but just see your margin eaten completely in <99 * 8 hours)
[2016-06-28 09:30:01] fineregex : or if you cant even deposit more
[2016-06-28 09:32:26] BitMEX_Wally : It is up to you if you compound or not
[2016-06-28 09:32:41] fineregex : lol
[2016-06-28 09:32:42] BitMEX_Wally : If you are short and earn interest you can chose to re-invest your earnings
[2016-06-28 09:32:57] fineregex : if you dont deposit the costs you calculate
[2016-06-28 09:33:06] fineregex : 0.99^(3*365)
[2016-06-28 09:33:29] BitMEX_Wally : If you are long with 1x leverage, the funding comes out of your margin, but the position size does not change
[2016-06-28 09:34:04] fineregex : so then you have 0.0006% of your margin left after one year...
[2016-06-28 09:37:21] BitMEX_Wally : Current funding rate is 0.0220% every 8 hours. If you go long with 100% margin then after a year you have 35.76% left
[2016-06-28 09:38:20] BitMEX_Wally : Assuming no compounding and no change in the spot price
[2016-06-28 09:38:59] BitMEX_Wally : If you went short with 100% margin you would end up with 164% left
[2016-06-28 09:45:28] fineregex : how you calculate that?:D
[2016-06-28 09:46:35] fineregex : " of your margin " (*if margin equals position size else multiply interest by leverage )
[2016-06-28 09:50:19] BitMEX_Wally : By 100% margin I mean 1x
[2016-06-28 09:50:40] fineregex : yes
[2016-06-28 09:51:39] BitMEX_Wally : `(1-365x8x0.000220)=0.3576`
[2016-06-28 09:52:01] fineregex : :D
[2016-06-28 09:52:09] BitMEX_Wally : `1+(365*8*0.000220)=1.6424`
[2016-06-28 09:52:49] fineregex : 1.00022^1195 = 1,3007
[2016-06-28 09:54:00] BitMEX_Wally : If I am long, then compounding means I reduce my position after paying funding, which makes no sense
[2016-06-28 09:54:50] fineregex : do you both work for bitmex?
[2016-06-28 09:55:16] fineregex : i hope it would be 0.022
[2016-06-28 09:55:40] sleepywhale : Hello, is there a liquidation price calculator based on the amount of leverage you select?
[2016-06-28 09:55:55] BitMEX_Wally : fineregex: I work for BitMEX, who else are you referring to?
[2016-06-28 09:56:09] sleepywhale : ah nevermind - i found it thanks
[2016-06-28 09:56:18] BitMEX_Wally : :)
[2016-06-28 09:56:39] micmix : double Wally ;)
[2016-06-28 09:57:02] fineregex : anyway it is 0.0448 which is much more
[2016-06-28 09:57:10] fineregex : and i was billed even 0.1166 last time
[2016-06-28 10:01:47] fineregex : 0.998833^1195 aaaaand its gone
[2016-06-28 10:03:36] fineregex : (will hit forced liquidation (<1%left) after 3 month or so)
[2016-06-28 10:04:30] fineregex : * 0.98833 (leverage x10 example)
[2016-06-28 10:08:13] fineregex : you do calculate it exponentially ("compounding and 365*3 not *8
[2016-06-28 10:08:37] fineregex : times 3 not 8 ^_^
[2016-06-28 10:09:36] BitMEX_Wally : Ok, suppose the rate is 0.1167% and you go long with 10x, and the spot price does not change. So you have 10% margin and every 8 hours you lose 0.1167% so after 28 days you have nothing left `0.10-28x3x0.001167=0.001972`
[2016-06-28 10:09:39] BitMEX_Wally : There is no need to compound
[2016-06-28 10:09:43] BitMEX_Wally : The position size does not change
[2016-06-28 10:09:46] BitMEX_Wally : The interest payment does not change
[2016-06-28 10:11:10] BitMEX_Wally : You do not pay interest on interest
[2016-06-28 10:11:17] BitMEX_Wally : There is no compounding in the system, I can assure you
[2016-06-28 10:17:03] fineregex : ahh, that way its right
[2016-06-28 10:17:24] fineregex : for decay
[2016-06-28 10:18:04] fineregex : just compounding for keeping up the whole margin assuming to borrow that money at the same rate
[2016-06-28 10:18:05] fineregex : :D
[2016-06-28 10:19:09] fineregex : so - 28 days is too little / rate is too high
[2016-06-28 10:22:16] fineregex : more precisely 25 days x hours
[2016-06-28 10:28:13] fineregex : when it should/could be 0.01% to borrow the USD to buy the bitcoin = 3.72% anually and then would hold 300 for days
[2016-06-28 10:28:44] BitMEX_Wally : If you think the rate is too high from what it 'should' be, then just short it
[2016-06-28 10:29:04] BitMEX_Wally : Earn that rate with a hedge
[2016-06-28 10:29:04] Mm bot : BitMEX_Wally: in order to earn interest, I will have to 1x short on BTC right?
[2016-06-28 10:29:06] fineregex : * 0.01/day, 900days
[2016-06-28 10:29:29] BitMEX_Wally : Mm bot: To earn interest you just have to be short, but to avoid being liquidated you should ensure you have enough margin
[2016-06-28 10:30:58] men : ethereum price manipulated... too much manipulated
[2016-06-28 10:31:24] fineregex : yes 0.1166 per 8 hours is at least 50 times more than it should be and 50 higher earnings for liquidity provider
[2016-06-28 10:32:10] Mm bot : BitMEX_Wally: In one year the interest gain could be less than capital loss right? If BTC 2x in value
[2016-06-28 10:32:41] fineregex : yet bitmex has no liquidity?
[2016-06-28 10:34:02] REKT : Liquidated short on `XBJ24H`: Buy 300 @ 66485.0
[2016-06-28 10:35:14] Mm bot : If I go 1x short, can I still use cross?
[2016-06-28 10:38:44] Mm bot : Do I make same amount of interest with 1x vs 10x short?
[2016-06-28 10:39:04] fineregex : 10x is too dangerous if you just want interest
[2016-06-28 10:39:12] fineregex : you want 1x and lots of liquidity
[2016-06-28 10:39:48] ayy_lmao : interest is too unpredictable to game it, unless someone can tell me otherwise
[2016-06-28 10:40:56] RoftheN : 5x seems safe enough. It's not like BTC will be 800 the next day
[2016-06-28 10:40:56] fineregex : lets say you have a credit volume avaiable up to $1million at 1%/year for some reason. many companies and financial services employees may be in that position. So everytime bitmex interest rate is above 0.0001% per 8 hours you automatically buy bitcoin and short the same amount at bitmex until. You make a riskless profit (as long as you can trust your script and bitmex)
[2016-06-28 10:41:50] fineregex : (* - until interest decreases and you undo both)
[2016-06-28 10:42:46] fineregex : yet you may be the only provider and interest rates may me much higher so you can do it most of the time
[2016-06-28 10:44:16] Mm bot : Does interest paid on $1 per contact instead of your BTC amount right? So 1x vs 2x short, so 2x earns twice the interest right?
[2016-06-28 10:44:30] fineregex : yes
[2016-06-28 10:44:37] fineregex : but a liquidity provider does not use leverage
[2016-06-28 10:45:25] fineregex : you just earn interest rate with out risk
[2016-06-28 10:47:25] Mm bot : fineregex: so if I short on Cross, 1x, 2x. It makes no diff to the amount of interest I earn, is this right?
[2016-06-28 10:47:40] fineregex : the amount of interst increases
[2016-06-28 10:48:01] Mm bot : ok, interest increase but risk increases as well
[2016-06-28 10:48:06] fineregex : but you dont want to risk forces liquidation just to earn some interest
[2016-06-28 10:48:30] fineregex : yes
[2016-06-28 10:54:09] subjective : fineregex: can I earn interest from quarterly ? Because it will mix things up
[2016-06-28 11:13:17] REKT : Liquidated short on `XBTUSD`: Buy 10 @ 650.89
[2016-06-28 11:27:00] macios15 : i smell pump in the air
[2016-06-28 11:28:52] fineregex : subjective: ehh?
[2016-06-28 11:29:36] fineregex : as Predicate if she can
[2016-06-28 11:29:40] fineregex : ask
[2016-06-28 11:56:30] macios15 : at least we tried
[2016-06-28 12:01:10] NukeLaloosh : bids just disappeared on xbj and i was liquidated
[2016-06-28 12:02:04] BitMEX_Wally : NukeLaloosh: you weren't liquidated. The contract settled
[2016-06-28 12:02:18] NukeLaloosh : ah lol thanks. forgot the time
[2016-06-28 12:05:01] jung1 : hello
[2016-06-28 12:05:29] fineregex : BitMEX_Wally: XBJ24H closed, where do i see the results, closed positions tab has entry price -,--- realised PNL "-.--"
[2016-06-28 12:06:14] whateveryousayman : BitMEX, thanks for this: "idle bandwidth usage of the trading dashboard has been cut by nearly 50%." ... my data plan can be gobbled up by twitter notifications now!

[2016-06-28 15:13:27] RoftheN : My eye is on EXP right now, their (much better than ETH) DAO will start soon and it's been very low compared to earlier
[2016-06-28 15:13:30] wotan : and of course btc
[2016-06-28 15:13:52] jung1 : could be similar wild west as in '12 and '13 with altcoins

[2016-06-28 15:14:11] RoftheN : I miss that wild west. Once mined a coin with one GPU, next day it was worth 500$
[2016-06-28 15:14:16] jung1 : the thing is to find projects worth to invest in

[2016-06-28 15:15:15] jung1 : or that auroracoin
[2016-06-28 15:15:20] RoftheN : how coincidental you brought that up
[2016-06-28 15:15:20] jung1 : for island

[2016-06-28 15:16:06] RoftheN : Tbh I don't bet on football, but I like underdogs like Iceland
[2016-06-28 15:16:13] wotan : auroracoin and gulden for sure 2 very nice project
[2016-06-28 15:16:28] RoftheN : Yeah I should buy some NLG, I'm Dutch
[2016-06-28 15:16:34] wotan : i love iceland very sympathic team
[2016-06-28 15:17:03] wotan : roftheN i think nlg will have its time its undervalued imo
[2016-06-28 15:17:10] RoftheN : I like how their whole team together is cheaper than some England players
[2016-06-28 15:17:25] wotan : haha yes
[2016-06-28 15:17:25] jung1 : keep an eye on zcash
[2016-06-28 15:17:33] RoftheN : Especially since the Netherlands is very opten to Crypto, Google trends Ethereum, The Netherlands is highest
[2016-06-28 15:18:01] jung1 : and funny thing was that on a previous match there was like 15% of all iceland citizens

[2016-06-28 15:30:07] RoftheN : Damn a Trumpcoin pump after I sold most, meh I profited a lot of that one anyway
[2016-06-28 15:33:46] RoftheN : Ethereum on google trends doubled since last month. DAO fail publicity is publicity
[2016-06-28 15:34:56] rapidtrades : a trumpcoin...rly?
[2016-06-28 15:35:29] cekseh : Gotta be a white american male to buy in
[2016-06-28 15:35:30] RoftheN : Yes a Trumpcoin, easy money when he started winning republican nominee
[2016-06-28 15:35:30] cekseh : Sorry
[2016-06-28 15:35:57] RoftheN : Also BERNcash en Clint coin, but CLINT was a huge scam with 1/3 premine
[2016-06-28 15:36:11] RoftheN : TBH Clinton is a scam anyway
[2016-06-28 15:37:06] cekseh : Bernie was the only candidate that wasn't plainly and obviously a lying pos. Even if one thinks his idealism is unrealistic
[2016-06-28 15:37:47] cekseh : Both our options now are setting records for most disliked candidates ever. Independant candidates will never have a better shot than this year
[2016-06-28 15:37:54] cekseh : (Not to say that they have a shot)
[2016-06-28 15:37:57] RoftheN : Yea, I support Bernie. His minimum wage idea is a little too much, but he sounds genuine and honest, which to me is more important than certain economic choices
[2016-06-28 15:38:28] cekseh : Yeah, well his whole shtick is to spend americans money on americans
[2016-06-28 15:38:35] cekseh : Thats why they call him a socialist
[2016-06-28 15:38:43] RoftheN : But if Bernie is not gonna run I'll support Gary Johnson, even though he has opposite of Bernie policies, he isn't a Trump or Clinton
[2016-06-28 15:38:57] cekseh : The others are business people, worshipping the dollar (much like us)
[2016-06-28 15:39:01] RoftheN : But America is now full of socialism for the rich but little socialism for the poor
[2016-06-28 15:39:28] RoftheN : Libertarian like Johnson is also against socialism for the rich
[2016-06-28 15:39:33] cekseh : He is opposite of bernie on some social issues, not everything though
[2016-06-28 15:40:10] RoftheN : Most economic I meant. Bernie wants a strong fed with minimum wage. Johnson wants weak fed, no federal minimum wage, let the states decide
[2016-06-28 15:40:15] cekseh : In any case, he also seems much more legitimate/forthright than either of the presumptive nominies
[2016-06-28 15:40:17] RoftheN : i agree more with Johnson on economy
[2016-06-28 15:41:38] RoftheN : I wonder if there's a gary Johnson coin yet
[2016-06-28 15:42:15] RoftheN : Gary Johnson accepts bitcoin donations
[2016-06-28 15:44:19] cekseh : Hmmmm, it's almost like bitcoin has some sort of appeal to libertarians
[2016-06-28 15:44:34] cekseh : I wonder if there is any history to that

[2016-06-28 17:19:51] Rado : I agree RoftheN
[2016-06-28 17:20:07] Rado : even if it dips under $500 it will be very short lived and a great opportunity to buy

[2016-06-28 17:53:11] nip : @BitMEX: im still not clear on how you calculate the premium if the bid/ask is wide and the last trade is outside of the bid/ask.

[2016-06-28 18:28:34] turtlefight : well its from today
[2016-06-28 18:29:56] turtlefight : first big dump was a couple hours ago I imagine thats when the first dumpers had access to the news. I've just seen it a couple minutes ago.
[2016-06-28 18:30:30] rapidtrades : ok thanks
[2016-06-28 18:31:02] RoftheN : I wonder how bad it is. Guess there will be a hardfork afterwall, which will piss off some people
[2016-06-28 18:33:03] Rado : My short from .021 is very happy
[2016-06-28 18:33:19] turtlefight : I imagine so
[2016-06-28 18:33:31] Rado : i don't hold shit coins l, just trade them to make more BTC
[2016-06-28 18:33:47] Rado : so it doesn't matter what they do in the long run
[2016-06-28 18:33:51] RoftheN : I don't think the number 2 coin is a shitcoin though
[2016-06-28 18:34:17] Rado : well it's proving you wrong
[2016-06-28 18:34:33] turtlefight : Doesn't look pretty for ETH and with the moonkids all leveraged in it, we'll see a bunch of margin calls
[2016-06-28 18:34:35] RoftheN : The Softfork is bad, not Ethereum itself
[2016-06-28 18:34:36] Rado : I hope they can fix it as I believe in crypto
[2016-06-28 18:34:56] RoftheN : Same as the DAO. The DAO is bad, not Ethereum
[2016-06-28 18:35:04] NukeLaloosh : barely any longs rekt here
[2016-06-28 18:35:09] NukeLaloosh : ...so far
[2016-06-28 18:35:15] RoftheN : Could even argue about solidity. Solidity isn't great, but Ethereum could even change that
[2016-06-28 18:35:27] Rado : Soft fork is the Etereum code isn't it
[2016-06-28 18:35:40] RoftheN : I'll probably long ETH if it's below 160k
[2016-06-28 18:36:04] RoftheN : The Soft fork will change the Ethereum code, if they don't cancel it rn
[2016-06-28 18:38:06] turtlefight : didnt the majority of miners already implement the softfork?
[2016-06-28 18:39:02] RoftheN : Well yes, but it will only take effect if block 180000 or something is below 4000 gas, and potentially the gas could go above 4000 again, stopping the fork. But in that case the DAO attacker will be able to spend his funds in a week or two. I'm voting for hardfork.
