This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2016-04-08 11:13:41] BitMEX_Wally : Which is based on the underlying index
[2016-04-08 11:13:55] BitMEX_Wally : ETH contracts are marked to Indicative Settle Price which is basically the spot price of ETHXBT on Poloniex
[2016-04-08 11:14:03] BitMEX_Arthur : Please check out our new monthly ETHXBT contract, but settles daily and your position remains open
[2016-04-08 11:15:01] habibi : BitMEX_Arthur: settles everyday?
[2016-04-08 11:15:08] hitme1 : new ETH contract? where
[2016-04-08 11:15:23] BitMEX_Arthur : It's on our Testnet
[2016-04-08 11:15:23] BitMEX_Arthur : click on the link above
[2016-04-08 11:15:55] BitMEX_Arthur : Basically your unrealised profit or loss will be realised each day and you can withdraw or re-leverage it
[2016-04-08 11:16:13] habibi : BitMEX_Arthur: so its basically daily ?
[2016-04-08 11:16:21] BitMEX_Arthur : Yes and no
[2016-04-08 11:16:28] hitme1 : testnet is tradable? or only demo
[2016-04-08 11:16:36] BitMEX_Arthur : You get your profit daily, but the position expires monthly
[2016-04-08 11:16:39] BitMEX_Wally : habibi: It rebalances every day
[2016-04-08 11:16:58] BitMEX_Arthur : hitme1: Testnet is a demo
[2016-04-08 11:17:06] BitMEX_Arthur : But it is exactly the same
[2016-04-08 11:17:22] hitme1 : when will the new contracts be available for trading?
[2016-04-08 11:17:29] miramm1115 : BitMEX_Arthur: are you planning to replace ETH7D with monthly?
[2016-04-08 11:18:00] BitMEX_Arthur : miramm1115: Yes we want to eliminate multiple expiries
[2016-04-08 11:18:01] BitMEX_Arthur : This is our attempt at it
[2016-04-08 11:18:04] hitme1 : the montlys i mean
[2016-04-08 11:18:22] miramm1115 : BitMEX_Arthur: sounds good, should be better
[2016-04-08 11:18:28] hitme1 : +1
[2016-04-08 11:18:50] habibi : BitMEX_Arthur: so i short 0.01 price go next day to 0.015, i take loss, whats my entry of position after that?
[2016-04-08 11:20:18] habibi : and daily are going to get 50x :D?
[2016-04-08 11:20:19] hitme1 : When will ETH monthly contracts be live, not just testnet?
[2016-04-08 11:20:54] BitMEX_Arthur : Your entry price changes to the previous day's spot price at the cash rebalance time
[2016-04-08 11:21:07] BitMEX_Wally : habibi: Your entry price for the calculation of unrealisedPnl will be 0.015 after that. But on the GUI we show your old entry price
[2016-04-08 11:22:00] BitMEX_Wally : You can click the toggle in the middle of the Your Position widget to see the rebalance price
[2016-04-08 11:22:36] BitMEX_Wally : Basically it's just a long dated future that is rebalanced daily. If it trades well we will push the settlement date out as far as possible
[2016-04-08 11:23:01] habibi : BitMEX_Wally: thanks, so will stay with weeklys than :p
[2016-04-08 11:23:16] BitMEX_Arthur : habibi: If this is successful no
[2016-04-08 11:23:28] BitMEX_Arthur : You can have any expiry you like, and we don't have to have multiple products
[2016-04-08 11:23:31] BitMEX_Arthur : that split liquidity
[2016-04-08 11:23:38] hitme1 : BitMEX_Wally: when will it be live?
[2016-04-08 11:24:13] BitMEX_Wally : Once our market makers are ready
[2016-04-08 11:50:40] rapidtrades : makers? so there's 2 of them?
[2016-04-08 11:54:22] BitMEX_Wally : There's more than 2 of them
[2016-04-08 11:54:38] rapidtrades : so 3?
[2016-04-08 11:54:38] BitMEX_Wally : There is one market maker who only does ETH vs XBT
[2016-04-08 11:54:56] rapidtrades : so that guy and two more, got it
[2016-04-08 12:04:38] Cryptolicious : someone did a 27k trade? wow
[2016-04-08 12:06:05] BitMEX_Wally : Cryptolicious: That was the settlement trade
[2016-04-08 12:06:14] Cryptolicious : oh
[2016-04-08 12:06:34] Cryptolicious : makes more sense
[2016-04-08 12:06:59] habibi : yep but 8500 sell order is real
[2016-04-08 13:00:46] seaplusplus : when I move my limit trade on the chart should it update the price
[2016-04-08 13:04:57] BitMEX_Wally : seaplusplus: We do not support order amend via the frontend yet
[2016-04-08 13:05:02] BitMEX_Wally : You can cancel the order on the chart
[2016-04-08 13:05:30] BitMEX_Wally : We support order amend via the API
[2016-04-08 13:38:34] seaplusplus : thanks, worth knowing. Would be a great feature.
[2016-04-08 14:03:36] rentchev : hey BitMEX_Wally
[2016-04-08 14:03:59] rentchev : Where can I see 24 hr Hi/Lo for a contract
[2016-04-08 14:04:13] sleger : on the wonderful charts ?
[2016-04-08 14:04:41] rentchev : but it doesn't show the actual number on the chart
[2016-04-08 14:05:15] rapidtrades : yeah...also how come u can't get these charts when u search on TV
[2016-04-08 14:09:17] BitMEX_Sam : rapidtrades: Because the chart widget's code is provided by TV, but it's actually run here
[2016-04-08 14:09:22] BitMEX_Sam : all of the data comes from our servers
[2016-04-08 14:09:38] BitMEX_Sam : They pull some of our instruments to show on their site, but they have been slow to adopt new instruments
[2016-04-08 14:10:30] rentchev : BitMEX_Sam Tradingview has amazing charts, not sure if integration with them is possible
[2016-04-08 14:10:56] BitMEX_Sam : It already is running :)
[2016-04-08 14:11:18] rentchev : it is?
[2016-04-08 14:11:31] rentchev : I meant run their charts in here
[2016-04-08 14:11:36] BitMEX_Sam : Yes
[2016-04-08 14:11:58] BitMEX_Sam : The charts on BitMEX are the same as those provided on TradingView.com
[2016-04-08 14:12:06] rapidtrades : rentchev: search XBT
[2016-04-08 14:12:07] rentchev : duh
[2016-04-08 14:12:15] rentchev : I see it now when I expand the chart
[2016-04-08 14:12:17] rentchev : lol
[2016-04-08 14:12:59] rentchev : I guess I need to set it up the same way I did on their site
[2016-04-08 14:13:41] rapidtrades : rentchev: search for XBT on TV
[2016-04-08 14:14:11] rentchev : thanks
[2016-04-08 14:18:33] rapidtrades : it bothers me that we're trading above china
[2016-04-08 14:18:57] rapidtrades : prolly not that surprising with the recent dollar weakness tho
[2016-04-08 14:19:21] rapidtrades : nvm that doesn't make sense ^^
[2016-04-08 14:20:08] rapidtrades : wait yeah it does...weaker USD higher BTC
[2016-04-08 14:21:15] rentchev : are you looking at OKCoin in USD?
[2016-04-08 14:21:32] rentchev : OK coin
[2016-04-08 14:47:10] podizzle3k : can someone explain why my entry price is 464 the mark price is 466 and my pnl says +2.5%
[2016-04-08 14:47:14] podizzle3k : what am i missing here
[2016-04-08 14:47:30] podizzle3k : is pnl going off of last market price?
[2016-04-08 14:50:12] sleger : why are you surprised ? what do you expect ?
[2016-04-08 14:50:28] BitMEX_Wally : podizzle3k: This may be due to the weekly rebalance. Click in the middle of the 'Your Position' widget
[2016-04-08 14:50:37] BitMEX_Wally : It will show your Avg Entry Price vs the Rebalance Price
[2016-04-08 14:51:33] podizzle3k : nah thats under my entry too
[2016-04-08 14:51:43] podizzle3k : i think the only explanation is that pnl goes off last market price
[2016-04-08 14:51:53] sleger : no it comes off fair price
[2016-04-08 14:52:14] podizzle3k : ok so where do i find this fair price
[2016-04-08 14:52:28] podizzle3k : market price, fair price, rebalance price
[2016-04-08 14:52:30] sleger : next to index price
[2016-04-08 14:52:34] podizzle3k : too many prices
[2016-04-08 14:52:45] podizzle3k : index price
[2016-04-08 14:52:48] podizzle3k : wtf
[2016-04-08 14:52:50] sleger : if its too difficult you should trade spot :p
[2016-04-08 14:53:04] podizzle3k : if its too difficult to explain you should stfu
[2016-04-08 14:53:08] sleger : 422.97/ 464.84
[2016-04-08 14:53:08] BitMEX_Wally : podizzle3k: Which contract are you trading?
[2016-04-08 14:53:24] podizzle3k : xbtm16
[2016-04-08 14:53:25] sleger : podizzle3k: if its too difficult to understand you should read the FAQ first
[2016-04-08 14:53:29] podizzle3k : just stfu
[2016-04-08 14:53:32] podizzle3k : i dont need your help
[2016-04-08 14:53:43] sleger : 422.96/ 530.36
[2016-04-08 14:53:48] sleger : the last one is the fair price
[2016-04-08 14:54:02] podizzle3k : so i have to look at the chat box and ask you when i need to know
[2016-04-08 14:54:07] sleger : yes
[2016-04-08 14:54:23] podizzle3k : where on the screen is this mythical index and fair price
[2016-04-08 14:54:25] sleger : or maybe (just maybe) i got those numbers from somewhere else....
[2016-04-08 14:54:29] sleger : in orderbook
[2016-04-08 14:55:03] podizzle3k : hmm i have total bid size price price ask size and total
[2016-04-08 14:55:08] sleger : if you have advanced layout single column for orderbook then in the middle of orderbook
[2016-04-08 14:55:24] sleger : click the wheel select single column
[2016-04-08 14:55:26] podizzle3k : ok i had to change to single column view
[2016-04-08 14:55:29] podizzle3k : thx
[2016-04-08 14:55:35] podizzle3k : way too complicated imo
[2016-04-08 14:55:37] podizzle3k : just sayin
[2016-04-08 14:55:46] sleger : trade spot then
[2016-04-08 14:55:54] podizzle3k : nah ill just tell you to stfu instead
[2016-04-08 14:55:55] podizzle3k : stfu
[2016-04-08 14:56:24] sleger : but you will stay stupid in that case :(
[2016-04-08 14:56:53] BitMEX_Wally : podizzle3k: You have a position in `XBTM16` and your original entry price was 466.10. This contract was rebalanced at 464.46 meaning the profit/loss between 466.10 and 464.46 was realised and is in your wallet.
[2016-04-08 14:56:59] BitMEX_Wally : The unrealised profit is now being calculated from 464.46
[2016-04-08 14:57:00] podizzle3k : its not a matter of stupidity its a matter of overcomplexity
[2016-04-08 14:57:34] BitMEX_Wally : The mark price for this contact is currently 464.74
[2016-04-08 14:58:04] podizzle3k : wally the question i had was why is unrealized PNL positive when my entry is above mark price
[2016-04-08 14:58:05] sleger : if you understood the reasons for all of this you would know there is no "over"complexity, the complexity is necessary here. As I said the alternative if its too complex for you is to trade spot, or just believe the system works as it should
[2016-04-08 14:58:32] BitMEX_Wally : "can someone explain why my entry price is 464 the mark price is 466 and my pnl says +2.5%"
[2016-04-08 14:58:42] podizzle3k : sleger YES IT IS. there is NO explanation anywhere on the default screen explaining that to view the fair price you need to change the ORDERBOOK (a completely seperate function) to SINGLE COLUMN
[2016-04-08 14:58:57] podizzle3k : that is stupid and if you cant see that youre an idiot
[2016-04-08 14:58:58] BitMEX_Wally : If you went long at 464 and the price is 466 then your unrealised profit is positive
[2016-04-08 14:59:05] BitMEX_Sam : podizzle3k: It's in the sidebar if you're not viewing single column
[2016-04-08 14:59:21] sleger : podizzle3k: i gave you one way to see it thats all
[2016-04-08 14:59:25] podizzle3k : wally i went long at 466 and the price is 464
[2016-04-08 14:59:54] BitMEX_Wally : podizzle3k: This contract was rebalanced at 464.46 meaning the profit/loss between 466.10 and 464.46 was realised and is in your wallet.
[2016-04-08 15:00:40] sleger : maybe comparing two floats is also too complex
[2016-04-08 15:01:21] BitMEX_Wally : So you have a realised loss in your wallet, and an unrealised profit on the contract. If you add them up you get pnl you expect
[2016-04-08 15:01:36] podizzle3k : i see
[2016-04-08 15:01:44] podizzle3k : maybe add something called 'adjusted entry price'
[2016-04-08 15:01:47] podizzle3k : might help
[2016-04-08 15:01:58] podizzle3k : but i get it now thx
[2016-04-08 15:02:05] sleger : you're welcome
[2016-04-08 15:02:08] podizzle3k : not you
[2016-04-08 15:02:13] podizzle3k : you told me it was based off fair price
[2016-04-08 15:02:27] sleger : the pnl is based off fair price
[2016-04-08 15:02:40] sleger : and entry price, your issue was with entry price
[2016-04-08 15:02:42] BitMEX_Wally : Yes, the mark price is based on the fair price, but that wasn't his question
[2016-04-08 15:02:45] podizzle3k : fair price is below my entry price so that doesnt explain it
[2016-04-08 15:02:59] podizzle3k : sleger your answer was worthless
[2016-04-08 15:03:03] podizzle3k : thx for nothing
[2016-04-08 15:03:12] mpkomara : LOL
[2016-04-08 15:03:26] sleger : always happy to not help
[2016-04-08 15:04:23] podizzle3k : i can handle rapidtrades but sleger is a handful
[2016-04-08 15:05:44] sleger : focus on handling your pnl reconciliation first ;)
[2016-04-08 15:05:49] nip : BitMEX: do you have any sample code for your websocket api in c# ? the market maker bot looks interesting but it is python only
[2016-04-08 15:06:00] podizzle3k : are you guys shorting ETH
[2016-04-08 15:06:47] BitMEX_Sam : nip: We don't have anything in C# specifically, but there are a few other adapters here: https://github.com/BitMEX/websocketAdapters
[2016-04-08 15:07:28] BitMEX_Sam : nip: Actually, you might be able to reuse some of the Excel plugin code: https://github.com/BitMEX/BitMEX-Excel/blob/master/BitMexAPI.cs
[2016-04-08 15:08:19] podizzle3k : ah i found fair price in the sidebar
[2016-04-08 15:08:42] podizzle3k : its only there during dual column view
[2016-04-08 15:09:08] BitMEX_Sam : Yes, because otherwise it would be redundant (two places at once)
[2016-04-08 15:10:00] sleger : and thats also why i said to switch to single column to see it, as I didnt know it was there in dual column view
[2016-04-08 15:10:24] nip : i use dual column and greatly prefer it
[2016-04-08 15:10:45] podizzle3k : yeah i think the layout and ui here are great but it does require a bit more experimentation and exploration to get the hang of
[2016-04-08 15:12:06] nip : BitMEX_Sam: thanks for the link i didnt consider the spreadsheet
[2016-04-08 15:12:45] sleger : nip: python is almost human readable, so i know c# code would be easier for you but even without knowing python you could just read it and translate to c#
[2016-04-08 15:13:12] podizzle3k : post only order is great too btw
[2016-04-08 15:13:12] sleger : although some people on this chat might say its overcomplex to do so ;)
[2016-04-08 15:13:54] podizzle3k : if you cant handle it you should just use java
[2016-04-08 15:13:56] nip : sleger: i know, but formatting to work with a particular api is so boring. ive been meaning to do it for weeks
[2016-04-08 15:14:21] nip : copy paste or import makes it a bit more bearable
[2016-04-08 15:16:34] sleger : if you can find java code then it would be even easier to translate to c#
[2016-04-08 15:23:16] BitMEX_Sam : Well this Excel plugin is actually C#... so no translation needed.
[2016-04-08 17:33:12] rentchev : hey BitMEX guys
[2016-04-08 17:33:29] rentchev : on Order History tab Gross Value column already excludes commisions correct?
[2016-04-08 17:44:51] BitMEX_Sam : It's the literal value of the contracts, so yes
[2016-04-08 17:45:01] BitMEX_Sam : When you see the 'Cost' lines under the buy/sell buttons, those include commissions
[2016-04-08 17:57:27] rentchev : thanks
[2016-04-08 17:57:55] rentchev : is there a better report where I can see commissions and profit/loss?

[2016-04-08 19:41:35] rentchev : that was a nice dump on BTC
[2016-04-08 19:41:45] rentchev : lets see if it bounces
[2016-04-08 19:43:14] podizzle3k : wow btc still screwing me over even without a position
[2016-04-08 19:43:18] podizzle3k : ruining my eth short
[2016-04-08 19:44:51] rentchev : :(
[2016-04-08 19:46:10] OmniQuantDesk : just one thing after another today
[2016-04-08 19:46:49] OmniQuantDesk : to be fair though, we all had the chance to roll hedges and didn't out of bullish compacency
[2016-04-08 19:53:56] mpkomara : ROFL look at all those liquidations
[2016-04-08 19:58:10] rentchev : not sure why people do not use stop orders
[2016-04-08 20:01:37] GurungBoi : stop orders is for pussies
[2016-04-08 20:01:46] GurungBoi : your liquidation is your stop loss
[2016-04-08 20:02:43] mpkomara : GurungBoi: i like your STYLE
[2016-04-08 20:03:06] GurungBoi : if not dont leverage trade lol
[2016-04-08 20:04:46] nip : GurungBoi: agreed
[2016-04-08 20:26:19] habibi : agree with u, want only to add, ur money is already in our hands
[2016-04-08 21:23:19] rapidtrades : fellas? up or down?

[2016-04-08 21:37:13] rapidtrades : i need ur guidance fellas
[2016-04-08 21:37:46] sleger : you're still long ? I would say down
[2016-04-08 21:38:08] rapidtrades : yeah net long...half my usual size tho
[2016-04-08 21:38:33] sleger : didnt know you could trade half a contract here :p ahahah
[2016-04-08 21:38:57] rapidtrades : meh i mostly arb here :)
[2016-04-08 21:39:37] nip : rapidtrades: arb the xbt series with small size?
[2016-04-08 21:40:11] rapidtrades : nip: i have nothing to cover it with unfortunetely
[2016-04-08 21:40:31] rapidtrades : prices here a high
[2016-04-08 21:41:13] rapidtrades : what's with rates spiking on finex? now it takes 5 cents per day to roll
[2016-04-08 21:41:23] rapidtrades : thats 4% annum
[2016-04-08 21:44:17] sleger : not much
[2016-04-08 21:46:23] rapidtrades : not much! as opposed to getting like 8% premium on okc....or 30% here if u get lucky
[2016-04-08 21:48:58] sleger : people pay for leverage
[2016-04-08 21:49:17] mpkomara : :)
[2016-04-08 21:50:36] rapidtrades : i don't think its the leverage...im talking about the persistent premium
[2016-04-08 21:51:03] sleger : the leverage is quite persistent too ... 2.5 on finex, 10 on 0kcoin, 25-100 here
[2016-04-08 21:51:19] rapidtrades : sleger: leverage goes both ways tho....
[2016-04-08 21:51:37] rapidtrades : u can't say leverage translates into premiums
[2016-04-08 21:51:48] sleger : yes I just did
[2016-04-08 21:52:38] sleger : if people were rational it wouldnt be so though so I understand what you're saying
[2016-04-08 21:52:48] rapidtrades : its prolly a risk premium...cos usually clawbacks happen during crashes
[2016-04-08 21:52:54] j8 : leverage is a factor since it affects how much capital you have left to get other returns on.
[2016-04-08 21:53:20] rapidtrades : j8: point is, u can short on leverage...noone is forcing u to long only
[2016-04-08 21:53:28] sleger : finex is stupid to not increase their max leverage though, volatility is not the same as 2y ago
[2016-04-08 21:53:49] rapidtrades : finex is a spot exchange...no reason to f with it imo
[2016-04-08 21:54:23] rapidtrades : we need some venues where we can trade without clawback risk
[2016-04-08 21:54:31] sleger : they should do x5, they would get more volume, less people would trade on futures, they would get more commissions, and the blowup risk is on lenders anyways
[2016-04-08 21:54:35] j8 : rapidtrades: so you're saying, why lend btc when you can get a better return on futures?
[2016-04-08 21:55:15] rapidtrades : j8: no....i was saying how lending rates for btc spiked from 1% to 4%....prolly due to morans longing eth
[2016-04-08 21:55:16] sleger : j8: that takes time, execution risk and commissions, means having btc on less reputable exchanges etc...
[2016-04-08 21:55:34] sleger : rapidtrades: eth is not on margin on finex
[2016-04-08 21:55:35] rapidtrades : i expected that to happen tbh but surprised it happened without leverage for eth
[2016-04-08 21:55:52] rapidtrades : sleger: u can still buy it with btc
[2016-04-08 21:55:56] j8 : rapidtrades: btc rate should go up when premia goes down...
[2016-04-08 21:56:14] j8 : it's surprising that it usually doesn't really.
[2016-04-08 21:56:23] sleger : rapidtrades: but that should not affect lending rates (maybe im missing something i havent really looked into it)
[2016-04-08 21:56:54] rapidtrades : ur prolly right...but that's the only reason i can come up with
[2016-04-08 21:56:57] j8 : no sleger you're right
[2016-04-08 21:57:05] j8 : can't long eth on finex.
[2016-04-08 21:57:19] rapidtrades : u can long eth/btc tho...with BTC
[2016-04-08 21:57:22] sleger : btc rates have (small) spikes when btcusd crashes (like now a bit)
[2016-04-08 21:57:48] rapidtrades : $5 move is hardly a crash
[2016-04-08 21:58:03] rapidtrades : and they were at 0.012 all day even before this
[2016-04-08 21:58:58] j8 : maybe if people are borrowing to long btc to cover the other btc they're buying eth with, there could be a secondary effect. but i think it's just sentiment following futures
[2016-04-08 21:59:27] rapidtrades : it's not sentiment dude...my shorts got rolled at 0.012 this morning
[2016-04-08 22:00:05] rapidtrades : like almost 24 hrs ago
[2016-04-08 22:00:35] j8 : from 0.01 to 0.012 is just noise
[2016-04-08 22:01:07] j8 : it's up from ~0.006 around 10 days ago
[2016-04-08 22:01:26] rapidtrades : no shit...that's what im saying
[2016-04-08 22:01:42] rapidtrades : it was 1% per annum before this eth BS
[2016-04-08 22:01:52] rapidtrades : now its 4%
[2016-04-08 22:03:16] j8 : ok, looking at bfxdata, march 29 around 3000 btc added to total shorts
[2016-04-08 22:03:32] rapidtrades : on btcusd?
[2016-04-08 22:03:45] nip : rapidtrades: no on btceth
[2016-04-08 22:04:08] j8 : total active btc swaps (so could be ltc/btc i guess) went from 12000 to 15000
[2016-04-08 22:04:41] rapidtrades : how's that on a historical basis? do those swings matter
[2016-04-08 22:04:51] rapidtrades : we've had low volume past few weeks
[2016-04-08 22:07:07] j8 : i'm just saying it's the event that drove the rate up. also, okc quarterly premium dumped from 4% to 2% around the same time
[2016-04-08 22:11:48] j8 : also has to do with how finex sets the frr.. it will get driven up and then gradually decay

[2016-04-09 01:05:33] rapidtrades : j8: that doesn't make sense when u consider finex is still $2 above okc
[2016-04-09 01:05:51] rapidtrades : where's the selling mofo? @j8
[2016-04-09 01:06:36] j8 : rapidtrades: there's lots about this market that doesn't make sense, it's not very efficient
[2016-04-09 01:07:13] j8 : btc swap is still 1/3 of usd swap and that's considered high
[2016-04-09 01:08:16] j8 : okc has usd swap 1/2 of btc swap, artificially
[2016-04-09 01:08:52] rapidtrades : j8: okc lending market is in house
[2016-04-09 01:08:59] rapidtrades : c*nts

[2016-04-09 01:09:24] rapidtrades : makes u wonder what else are they manipulating
[2016-04-09 01:16:27] OmniQuantDesk : they're manipulating the price of FCT
[2016-04-09 01:16:31] OmniQuantDesk : just kiding

[2016-04-09 01:44:13] rapidtrades : link?
[2016-04-09 01:44:30] j8 : i swept it into a db from the api
[2016-04-09 01:44:53] OmniQuantDesk : yeah lack of resizing relative to woodchipper futures is kind of annoying, but the theta usually makes up for it
[2016-04-09 01:45:21] rapidtrades : OmniQuantDesk: what theta jew?
[2016-04-09 01:45:41] OmniQuantDesk : people occasionally feel like holding US dollars and paying their rent in these markets
[2016-04-09 01:45:53] OmniQuantDesk : what is theta? or you mean, there is no theta?
[2016-04-09 01:46:09] OmniQuantDesk : theta is the money you earn over time being in a derivatives position
[2016-04-09 01:46:15] rapidtrades : are u talking about shorting the longer dated contracts
[2016-04-09 01:46:17] OmniQuantDesk : yes it goes out when the markets turn down
[2016-04-09 01:46:20] OmniQuantDesk : no weekly
[2016-04-09 01:46:26] OmniQuantDesk : there was a premium earlier today
[2016-04-09 01:46:47] rapidtrades : k...u do realize that contract trades at a premium to the bitter end
[2016-04-09 01:47:14] OmniQuantDesk : currently the best offer is at settlement value
[2016-04-09 01:47:28] OmniQuantDesk : these things flip into backwardation at the first sign of trouble, the more liquid woodchippers as well
[2016-04-09 01:47:59] rapidtrades : OmniQuantDesk: fair point but quantos are more risky to short
[2016-04-09 01:48:12] rapidtrades : i would like to get paid more but that's just me
[2016-04-09 01:48:32] OmniQuantDesk : yes but I'm hedging 1:1 actual underlying BTC
[2016-04-09 01:49:42] OmniQuantDesk : this has been the most profitable trading week of my life
[2016-04-09 01:49:54] OmniQuantDesk : dealing in alts that pop, getting big positions cheap
[2016-04-09 01:50:24] rapidtrades : congrats i guess
[2016-04-09 01:50:29] OmniQuantDesk : thanks
[2016-04-09 01:50:49] rapidtrades : that's not what we were talking about but i guess this chat is now a confession box
[2016-04-09 01:51:06] OmniQuantDesk : hey I was raised Catholic it's a hard habit to beat
[2016-04-09 01:51:15] rapidtrades : anyone else wanna brag?
[2016-04-09 01:51:23] nip : OmniQuantDesk: congrats. were all here to profit after all
[2016-04-09 01:51:30] nip : i must confess i do not always profit
[2016-04-09 01:51:37] nip : sometimes i loss
[2016-04-09 01:52:02] rapidtrades : i loss more then i win
[2016-04-09 01:52:16] nip : but eth went up more than down
[2016-04-09 01:52:19] OmniQuantDesk : In my early 20s I lost a lot
[2016-04-09 01:52:21] nip : so more profit than loose
[2016-04-09 01:52:26] OmniQuantDesk : that is, often, but relatively small sums
[2016-04-09 01:52:35] OmniQuantDesk : maybe I'd blow out a $500 account
[2016-04-09 01:52:42] OmniQuantDesk : or a couple of grand
[2016-04-09 01:52:53] OmniQuantDesk : by mid 20s I'd break even
[2016-04-09 01:52:58] OmniQuantDesk : work hard to pay vig to the brokers
[2016-04-09 01:53:01] OmniQuantDesk : got into options
[2016-04-09 01:53:11] OmniQuantDesk : late 20s, in crypto, I almost never lost big
[2016-04-09 01:53:15] rapidtrades : and here u here feg
[2016-04-09 01:53:19] OmniQuantDesk : just lots of base hits and a few home runs
[2016-04-09 01:53:42] nip : and last but not leas the happiest week of your life
[2016-04-09 01:53:42] OmniQuantDesk : if you want to really nail it as a trader, professionally, I recommend learning to code and adapting systematic approaches that way
[2016-04-09 01:53:46] nip : may it continue!
[2016-04-09 01:53:59] OmniQuantDesk : haha thanks, it was pretty high anxiety actually but that's part of the game
[2016-04-09 01:54:04] OmniQuantDesk : money doesn't make you happy
[2016-04-09 01:54:11] rapidtrades : OmniQuantDesk: i would if i had the time and it wasn't so f boring
[2016-04-09 01:54:14] OmniQuantDesk : it just insulates you and amplifies what you wanted to do before
[2016-04-09 01:54:18] nip : anxiety keeps you busy though
[2016-04-09 01:54:30] nip : by you i mean me
[2016-04-09 01:54:55] OmniQuantDesk : nobody who trades for a living is happy, maybe when they get the bonus, if they are decent people on the inside and it takes them somewhere good
[2016-04-09 01:55:13] OmniQuantDesk : I've known a lot of rich people, some are awful, some are really stand-up, most are bored
[2016-04-09 01:55:21] rapidtrades : OmniQuantDesk: im happy.....weirdo
[2016-04-09 01:56:27] rapidtrades : not during the act of trading...but the job as a whole is awesome
[2016-04-09 01:57:02] OmniQuantDesk : oh yeah I love it
[2016-04-09 01:57:11] OmniQuantDesk : like I loved crazy latina ex-girlfriends
[2016-04-09 01:57:29] OmniQuantDesk : what makes me happy is sponsoring crypto-entrepreneurs in developing countries
[2016-04-09 01:57:39] rapidtrades : lol?
[2016-04-09 01:57:51] OmniQuantDesk : some of these guys don't even have a fíng laptop and then they get going and start doing revenue, it's very rad
[2016-04-09 01:58:07] rapidtrades : i guess...but problem is other people are not me
[2016-04-09 01:58:09] nip : i dont trust anything in this box ever again
[2016-04-09 01:58:38] rapidtrades : nip: why nipster?
[2016-04-09 01:58:47] OmniQuantDesk : we're all a part of a vast oneness whose entirety we will never know
[2016-04-09 01:59:12] rapidtrades : ffs...no wonder ur depressed
[2016-04-09 01:59:26] OmniQuantDesk : peace out guys, taking the night off
[2016-04-09 01:59:55] nip : OmniQuantDesk: may the happiest week of your life continue until you know the entirety of some vast oneness
[2016-04-09 02:00:53] rapidtrades : nip: don't encourage him
[2016-04-09 02:02:13] rapidtrades : so many ppl come and go through this chat
[2016-04-09 02:02:38] rapidtrades : ....like that random walker....and that UK roofer
[2016-04-09 02:03:09] rapidtrades : did they blow out?
[2016-04-09 02:03:27] rapidtrades : or are they getting blown by models in the Caribbean?
[2016-04-09 02:03:45] j8 : who was the roofer
[2016-04-09 02:04:06] rapidtrades : idk....JDS..smth smth

[2016-04-09 02:05:37] rapidtrades : laisee: no that would make too much sense

[2016-04-09 02:10:14] j8 : oh shit you're testing my db skills
[2016-04-09 02:10:27] rapidtrades : :)
[2016-04-09 02:11:00] j8 : i literally did this to learn a new db framework, so this is gonna take a minute.
