This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2016-03-06 11:19:41] habibi : bitstamp 5$ premium over finex now
[2016-03-06 11:58:50] chromaticcr : last minute pump lol
[2016-03-06 12:00:56] lockhedge : ETH7D is now the most traded contract within the last 24h here
[2016-03-06 12:01:33] chromaticcr : coz we all are busy cleaning up the liquidations here i guess
[2016-03-06 12:02:03] lockhedge : micmix: are you market making ETH?
[2016-03-06 12:02:16] micmix : lockhedge: no
[2016-03-06 12:02:32] rapidtrades : DON'T LEAVE US
[2016-03-06 12:05:08] REKT : Liquidated long on `XBT24H`: Sell 200 @ 405.36
[2016-03-06 12:14:26] rapidtrades : that was a quick liq
[2016-03-06 12:15:14] chromaticcr : would that be a position brought from XBT48H
[2016-03-06 12:15:39] rapidtrades : prolly...doesnt make sense otherwise
[2016-03-06 12:16:24] habibi : https://www.bitmex.com/app/insuranceHistory keep growing
[2016-03-06 12:17:47] kb1985 : habibi: managed to run away on time ;)
[2016-03-06 12:21:39] zanza : I feel like the insurance should be paired with a liquidation history
[2016-03-06 12:22:03] zanza : would be interesting to view
[2016-03-06 12:22:18] zanza : liquidation history + fill history
[2016-03-06 12:33:57] rapidtrades : finex again dragging us down man
[2016-03-06 12:36:17] rapidtrades : do i have to pass aml before i can sell on stamp? anyone has account there?
[2016-03-06 12:36:58] NukeLaloosh : BitMEX_Sam: Are we prohibited/prevented from closing our positions at the liquidation price?
[2016-03-06 12:37:54] tradedesk : NukeLaloosh: you will get an error, but why close it at that price?
[2016-03-06 12:39:21] habibi : coz u will save the maintance
[2016-03-06 12:39:38] NukeLaloosh : because price action was going south and I could still save a few ticks
[2016-03-06 12:39:40] NukeLaloosh : exactly habibi
[2016-03-06 12:40:14] habibi : thats why u should always use cross and keep eye on position on highly leverage
[2016-03-06 12:44:52] NukeLaloosh : habibi: so instead you'd recommend cross using stops? I had thought isolated leverage— although subjecting me to higher liquidation risk—would prevent serious damage to my wallet should a major move occur
[2016-03-06 12:45:34] habibi : stops are not using here almost at all, its all about u trying to get out manually
[2016-03-06 12:49:17] habibi : stops are not usable here almost at all, i mean they won't save u in most cases
[2016-03-06 12:50:22] NukeLaloosh : i see. thanks habibi, tradedesk
[2016-03-06 12:51:59] habibi : rapidtrades: yea but volume of yday dump is pretty nice on finex
[2016-03-06 12:52:16] weebisom933 : hi is there support here ?
[2016-03-06 12:53:09] weebisom933 : I have confirmed a withdrawal yesterday, still says pending email approval and funds didn't show up in my wallet
[2016-03-06 12:53:37] habibi : weebisom933: https://www.bitmex.com/app/faq#when-are-bitcoin-withdrawals-processed
[2016-03-06 12:53:47] tradedesk : 7 more minutes @weebisom933
[2016-03-06 12:55:09] weebisom933 : ahhhh timezones. Been working with people from all around the world for 15 years, timezones still get me once in a while
[2016-03-06 12:55:13] weebisom933 : thanks !
[2016-03-06 13:29:58] rapidtrades : finex u filthy ho!
[2016-03-06 14:03:09] kb1985 : Mods, could you please look into my withdrawals? Still didn't recieve it and I wastold hte withdrawal tim will be on hour ago. :/
[2016-03-06 14:04:24] kb1985 : maybe it is just bitcoin being slow, going to wait a bit more ;)
[2016-03-06 14:06:44] BitMEX_Wally : kb1985: our apologies, they are processed manually by 2 partners. They have just been broadcast.
[2016-03-06 14:20:39] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 250 @ 0.02761
[2016-03-06 14:30:00] rapidtrades : BitMEX_Wally: 2 partners? mommy and daddy?
[2016-03-06 14:33:29] BitMEX_Wally : Mummy is normally asleep when we do withdrawals. Daddy and little Timmy do it together
[2016-03-06 14:33:48] BitMEX_Wally : Plus Mr Robot too, so it's a threesome
[2016-03-06 14:35:11] habibi : would be great if daddy would come back to kids
[2016-03-06 14:35:59] Rasign : btc x100 didn't work for me since yesterday, bitmex have trouble ?
[2016-03-06 14:36:25] BitMEX_Wally : Rasign: what issue did you have?
[2016-03-06 14:37:07] Rasign : oh no its good
[2016-03-06 14:37:15] Rasign : didn't watch
[2016-03-06 14:37:18] Rasign : total balance
[2016-03-06 14:38:50] habibi : BitMEX_Wally: could u add this withdrawalalbe balance next to total balance? it was really usefull when it was there :)
[2016-03-06 14:39:30] BitMEX_Wally : habibi: it's on the Order box as Available Funds
[2016-03-06 14:39:56] habibi : i know
[2016-03-06 14:40:18] BitMEX_Wally : So it would be redundant to have it on the screen twice
[2016-03-06 14:41:15] habibi : as u says, was rather talking about moving it.
[2016-03-06 14:41:39] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 2000 @ 0.02751
[2016-03-06 14:41:42] sleger : and its hidden by the trollbox
[2016-03-06 14:46:39] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 10 @ 0.02744
[2016-03-06 14:49:59] sleger : BitMEX_Wally: Is Arthur going to make a public apology for insulting all his customers ?
[2016-03-06 14:51:59] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 240 @ 0.02632
[2016-03-06 14:51:59] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 2 @ 0.02619 :punch: :whale:

[2016-03-06 14:53:01] habibi : buhahahah eth
[2016-03-06 14:55:39] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 900 @ 0.02364
[2016-03-06 14:55:39] REKT : :btc: :soon: :toilet:
[2016-03-06 14:55:39] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 342 @ 0.02322
[2016-03-06 14:56:50] rapidtrades : improsion
[2016-03-06 14:57:07] rapidtrades : little too late for us but f it
[2016-03-06 15:05:09] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 116 @ 0.02535
[2016-03-06 15:18:22] habibi : "safest bet ever" i will always remember that quote
[2016-03-06 15:18:29] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 30 @ 0.02539
[2016-03-06 15:24:29] chromaticcr : #GOTOHELL
[2016-03-06 15:24:29] REKT : Liquidated short on `ETH7D`: Buy 100 @ 0.02449
[2016-03-06 15:24:46] chromaticcr : SPEND THE DPE MONEY
[2016-03-06 15:27:11] rapidtrades : these idiots will drain the insurance fund
[2016-03-06 15:27:49] sleger : after the public apology, need to separate insurance funds
[2016-03-06 15:28:18] chromaticcr : habibi: what a slippery roof-top
[2016-03-06 15:31:08] BitMEX_Wally : sleger: The insult was made in a private chat, and so was the apology. You'll have to wait for it to be leaked
[2016-03-06 15:31:25] sleger : ahah ok :)
[2016-03-06 15:31:46] sleger : and opinion on separate insurance funds ?
[2016-03-06 15:32:05] sleger : different instruments have different risks
[2016-03-06 15:32:13] BitMEX_Wally : Yes, and the fund is partially segregated
[2016-03-06 15:32:39] BitMEX_Wally : Meaning that if a liquidation in XBT24H has some margin left over, it can only be spent on clearing XBT24H DPE unless we manually move it
[2016-03-06 15:32:59] chromaticcr : in what case would you move it?
[2016-03-06 15:34:06] BitMEX_Wally : If there is a high DPE % and we feel there is enough surplus
[2016-03-06 15:34:33] BitMEX_Wally : For example, we might use XBT7D surplus to clear XBT24H DPE
[2016-03-06 15:36:20] BitMEX_Wally : We increased the leverage on ETH7D to 25x but the maintenance margin is still 2%
[2016-03-06 15:37:47] BitMEX_Wally : So the ETH7D liquidations have not been eating into the XBT insurance fund
[2016-03-06 15:47:48] tscha : Trollbox is kinda broken for me, can't minimize it anymore
[2016-03-06 15:48:00] tscha : Reloading / restarting browser doesn't help
[2016-03-06 15:48:40] REKT : Liquidated short on `ETH7D`: Buy 50 @ 0.02560
[2016-03-06 15:50:24] rapidtrades : BitMEX_Wally: does it matter if i use a different address for withdrawal? in terms of fees
[2016-03-06 15:50:41] habibi : rapidtrades: nope
[2016-03-06 15:50:50] BitMEX_Wally : rapidtrades: No, but I strongly recommend you do not use the minimum fee
[2016-03-06 15:51:09] BitMEX_Wally : We use multi-sig wallets so the transactions are larger than normal
[2016-03-06 15:51:17] rapidtrades : ok tnx
[2016-03-06 15:51:52] BitMEX_Wally : Not that we think customers should have to guess the correct fee, we are working on a better solution
[2016-03-06 16:09:50] Mangalica : 0.0005 should work fine, right?
[2016-03-06 16:10:30] habibi : Mangalica: https://bitcoinfees.21.co/
[2016-03-06 16:13:25] rapidtrades : if we're going up then why isn't finex the wh*re moving
[2016-03-06 16:16:02] rapidtrades : prolly waiting for $450 then it will fomo at the end
[2016-03-06 16:21:32] rapidtrades : anyone planning to position for chinese devaluation this year?
[2016-03-06 16:32:30] habibi : Mangalica: could u tell ur opinion about eth lending book?

[2016-03-06 18:12:46] Mangalica : habibi, 140k available to short. I don't think shorts are overstretched, even if this might just bounce
[2016-03-06 18:13:44] chromaticcr : what fun seeing people lending at 2% daily on polo
[2016-03-06 18:18:11] Mangalica : yeah
[2016-03-06 18:18:27] Mangalica : hard to catch that though and it always gets returned pretty quickly
[2016-03-06 18:18:36] Mangalica : still, the average rate is ridiculous nowadays
[2016-03-06 18:20:00] Mangalica : i have plenty of loans out there with >1% a day so i cant complain
[2016-03-06 18:20:19] chromaticcr : I avg at about 0.4%
[2016-03-06 18:51:30] REKT : Liquidated short on `ETH7D`: Buy 55 @ 0.02614
[2016-03-06 18:58:41] BTCDJS : question about orders on poloniex. anyone about?

[2016-03-06 19:23:49] guywithanicebike : hide yo kids hide yo wife
[2016-03-06 19:43:07] yerb : What means whitheld profit?
[2016-03-06 19:43:35] tradedesk : your profit locked in until settlement
[2016-03-06 19:45:47] yerb : Why the hell? I want to trade with my new money, wtf is this?
[2016-03-06 19:48:03] tradedesk : you new to futures?
[2016-03-06 19:48:44] yerb : no i was on Okc, just new to mex
[2016-03-06 19:49:00] REKT : Liquidated short on `ETH7D`: Buy 140 @ 0.02648
[2016-03-06 19:49:34] yerb : On okc you take profit an use it in next position, why not here
[2016-03-06 19:54:48] yerb : I was lured here by 100x leverage, but seems its useless, and no liquidity, is this more like a joke exchange for kids?
[2016-03-06 19:58:23] rapidtrades : yerb: yeah we're all children here
[2016-03-06 20:01:58] yerb : nice
[2016-03-06 20:02:00] REKT : Liquidated short on `ETH7D`: Buy 12 @ 0.02632
[2016-03-06 20:02:22] yerb : so OKC quarterly contract is totally different?
[2016-03-06 20:04:09] yerb : there is reasonable liquidity, and the funds are not withheld, you can trade your profits immediately
[2016-03-06 20:04:55] lockhedge : yerb: OKC contracts are more similar to XBU contracts https://www.bitmex.com/app/seriesGuide/XBU (but no socialized losses on XBU) unfortunately there is not much volume on XBU anymore
[2016-03-06 20:07:38] lockhedge : yerb: withheld profits are necessary for highly leveraged contracts with DPW https://www.bitmex.com/app/dynamicProfitEqualisation
[2016-03-06 20:07:47] lockhedge : DPE
[2016-03-06 20:08:18] yerb : ok so XBU is useless
[2016-03-06 20:10:27] yerb : why not remove all these iliquid options and make one contract similar to finex or OKC quarterly, maybe it will be more lively or something..
[2016-03-06 20:13:27] yerb : well, i guess i dont understand shit.. so would be goof if someone explained to me about futures anyway
[2016-03-06 20:22:37] lockhedge : the problem seems to be that the bitcoin derivatives market for professional traders (e.g. XBU contracts or forwards at https://www.cryptofacilities.com/ ) is very small. the most successful contracts are the ones with the highest leverage
[2016-03-06 20:23:55] rapidtrades : is that a legit site? @lockhedge
[2016-03-06 20:25:14] lockhedge : it's a legit site, founded by a former Goldman Sachs guy about 2 years ago in London, but no significant volume yet
[2016-03-06 20:27:30] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 15 @ 0.02584
[2016-03-06 20:27:30] REKT : Choppy waters make solid seamen!
[2016-03-06 20:41:38] yerb : seems one of the best and most liquid futures market is OKC
[2016-03-06 20:54:56] rapidtrades : yerb: no shit
[2016-03-06 20:55:23] rapidtrades : this guy can do some maths
[2016-03-06 20:55:37] yerb : hehe :)
[2016-03-06 21:23:45] lockhedge : mt. gox used to be the best and most liquid spot market ;)
[2016-03-06 21:32:42] yerb : i dont see the relevance but the word "most" is appropriate :)
[2016-03-06 21:37:28] lockhedge : it's all relative... and hard to define "best", in terms of transparency and counterparty risk BitMEX may be better than OKC
[2016-03-06 21:42:05] yerb : well, this is the problem with every single exchange, i guess if they would be regulated and insured that would solve it to some degree. But the possible fractional reserve operation is probably the worst of them all, we just dont know until we do a bank run on an exchange
[2016-03-06 21:42:29] yerb : hell we dont even know if the numbers we see are real or not anyway
[2016-03-06 21:48:41] yerb : and wtf they mean by "we will do regular audits" there is something called blockchain, you can do audit every second just show us the damn wallets
[2016-03-06 21:50:53] yerb : the amount of bullshit is amazing
[2016-03-06 21:52:04] lockhedge : there is no on-chain settlement until you withdraw funds, do you now any trading venue that already offers settlement on the blockchain?
[2016-03-06 21:52:21] yerb : nope
[2016-03-06 21:56:10] lockhedge : you could already eliminate almost all counterparty risk with mult-sig (when a trusted third party like a lawyer or auditor holds the third key) and on-chain settlement, but there seems to be more demand for high leveraged than for low risk
[2016-03-06 22:00:43] lockhedge : at least BitMEX uses multi-sig internally so there is no single point of failure (e.g. CTO gets hacked) and DPE at least makes sure that there is almost no risk of hidden system losses that have to be socialized one day.
[2016-03-06 22:57:35] rapidtrades : now $3 gap finex/okc
[2016-03-06 22:57:39] rapidtrades : this f whore man

[2016-03-06 23:08:10] habibi : yep finex's bad guy today
[2016-03-06 23:08:54] micmix : closed my big ETH short on that drop, don't like what I'm seeing on polo. only 5 coins loss
[2016-03-06 23:09:18] habibi : micmix: u mean buy book scares ur shorting?
[2016-03-06 23:09:36] micmix : buy volume scared me
[2016-03-06 23:10:07] habibi : drop volume was pretty low compared to previous candles when it was rising
[2016-03-06 23:10:16] rapidtrades : yeah shorting a bull market is rarely worth it
[2016-03-06 23:10:22] rapidtrades : even in a shitcoin like eth

[2016-03-06 23:11:38] rapidtrades : who the f*ck are u
[2016-03-06 23:11:55] micmix : that drop was bought very quickly and polo got new influx of liquidity. will re-short later but I don't want to transfer more coins to polo to stay above 40%
[2016-03-06 23:12:16] micmix : 40% margin I mean
[2016-03-06 23:12:55] micmix : don't want to test "market can remain irrational longer that you can remain solvent" ;-)
[2016-03-06 23:14:09] rapidtrades : not even thinking about short until 0.022 or 0.02 is broken
[2016-03-06 23:14:16] rapidtrades : prolly wont short it then either
[2016-03-06 23:15:13] rapidtrades : but i trade more long-term so that's not for everyone :)
[2016-03-06 23:16:00] micmix : when an alt drops, it usually drops very quickly and it's hard to build big position with good entry price
[2016-03-06 23:16:20] rapidtrades : yep, that's why im very reluctant to even try a short
[2016-03-06 23:16:22] habibi : polo cold wallet has above 80k btc atm
[2016-03-06 23:16:45] micmix : I did well shorting alt spikes on polo but this ETH rise is too crazy
[2016-03-06 23:17:27] rapidtrades : micmix: well do what works for u i guess, haven't traded much alts beyond the top few
[2016-03-06 23:17:50] habibi : micmix: u should be staying on the orderobok with bids, u would get filled nicely with profit at 0.022-0.025 probally right?
[2016-03-06 23:21:08] rapidtrades : that move on finex was nuts....404>400>404
[2016-03-06 23:24:22] micmix : habibi: I closed at ~0.026, just wasn't comfortable waiting longer with such big short
[2016-03-06 23:25:26] rapidtrades : trade smaller next time, ''wasn't comfortable''' is not a good exit strategy
[2016-03-06 23:27:58] habibi : micmix: around 17k coins?
[2016-03-06 23:32:02] habibi : eth mm bot going soon to have 100 points spread :D
[2016-03-06 23:43:46] micmix : habibi: let say it wasn't sleger-sized but big enough for me :-)
[2016-03-06 23:44:33] habibi : fair enough :) k, glad u didnt take serious loss anyway
[2016-03-06 23:48:22] rapidtrades : there's always next time kekeke
[2016-03-06 23:50:24] micmix : that's what all gamblers say :-) @rapidtrades

[2016-03-07 13:55:22] Mangalica : I have a friend for whom I've been trading BTC and the like (on OKC for now). Would it be considered abuse if I got her to sign up through my referral link? I'd be doing most of the trading on that account as well, as she'd probably blow up the account in a day.
[2016-03-07 13:59:44] sleger : why would it be ?
[2016-03-07 14:00:29] Mangalica : Either way I'm making her open an account, i just don't want to get banned or something for looking like I'm referring myself. I just figured the commission would be The commission. I'd appreciate if a bmex person could chip in, to be on the safe side.
[2016-03-07 14:01:48] Mangalica : Well maybe i'm too cautious. Apart from the email and the signing up it'd be the same IP as i plan to trade for both of us.
[2016-03-07 14:10:01] tscha : Just do it. It's a design error. You can have multiple accounts per IP so you can also refer yourself.
[2016-03-07 14:11:18] Mangalica : yeah i sent her the link already, i'm probably over-complicating things
[2016-03-07 14:11:30] tscha : I already thought of outsourcing my taker orders that are not decreasing my position, but then I figured I am nice and rather pay Arthur 1-2 lapdances more per week.
[2016-03-07 14:23:16] yerb : OKC pushing up
[2016-03-07 14:24:25] j8 : Mangalica: it's a good idea to let them know what you're doing, since it is against the terms to have multiple accounts. people definitely do it though, for running bots etc
[2016-03-07 14:25:50] tscha : j8: It's against the terms to have multiple accounts? I recall Arthur himself saying in trollbox that it is okay to have multiple accounts.
[2016-03-07 14:26:25] j8 : tscha: did you read the terms?
[2016-03-07 14:26:28] j8 : `1.5: You can open an initial account by providing your email address and full name (Initial Account). You are only permitted to open one individual account with BitMEX. Please contact us directly if you require a corporate account with separate sub-accounts for your traders.`
[2016-03-07 14:27:03] j8 : but yeah, it's "allowed"
[2016-03-07 14:29:47] tscha : j8: That's probably their exit strategy.
[2016-03-07 14:30:10] Mangalica : lol
[2016-03-07 14:30:12] yerb : LTC seems propped up to explode, any chance for it to be readded to BitMEX?
[2016-03-07 14:36:18] sleger : huh lol ?
[2016-03-07 14:37:41] Mangalica : I've been hearing other traders being bullish on LTC as well, for some reason
[2016-03-07 14:38:21] sleger : because they are long time bag holders that woke up to reality and would like to exit without losing too much ?
[2016-03-07 14:38:38] Mangalica : I guess the logic is that if shitcoins are bubbling then the king of shitcoins must be a sure bet.. or something
[2016-03-07 14:40:24] sleger : i dont see any real reason for ltc to still exist as other altcoins have much better features and it isnt bitcoin either. Plus losing the 2nd place recently is not a good thing, I will keep my shorts on it
[2016-03-07 14:41:48] Mangalica : yeah i share that sentiment
[2016-03-07 14:56:57] Szoke : i agree :)

[2016-03-07 15:16:25] jung1 : that for shure
[2016-03-07 15:16:36] sleger : it shurely is better then

[2016-03-07 15:39:22] rapidtrades : sleger: why dnot? eth got just shy of 1 bil
[2016-03-07 15:39:28] rapidtrades : not*
[2016-03-07 15:40:35] sleger : eth and ripple are probably the only 2 coins i wouldnt short
[2016-03-07 15:40:44] sleger : (on a long term basis)
[2016-03-07 15:40:48] jung1 : +1

[2016-03-07 15:42:09] sleger : i am not long either
[2016-03-07 15:42:13] jung1 : eth brings new wave of cool blockchains. There is hype for that kind of projects and imo Maid, Eth, Factom, StorJ, XRP will have bright future
[2016-03-07 15:42:31] rapidtrades : jung1: noone gives a shit
[2016-03-07 15:42:41] rapidtrades : i want to send money that's all
[2016-03-07 15:42:59] jung1 : rapidtrades: well price of them says that someone is
[2016-03-07 15:43:13] rapidtrades : idiots, all of them
[2016-03-07 15:43:28] jung1 : not all of coins are for everyday use
[2016-03-07 15:43:49] jung1 : ripple are for banks and financial instiutions
[2016-03-07 15:43:56] rapidtrades : jung1: that's fine but then they don't deserve a 1bil valuation
[2016-03-07 15:44:00] rapidtrades : that's absurd
[2016-03-07 15:44:01] Mangalica : the FCT news releases remind me of penny stock shennanigans tbh
[2016-03-07 15:44:17] jung1 : rapidtrades: good that you are smart and we have you there
[2016-03-07 15:44:40] rapidtrades : jung1: i agree
[2016-03-07 15:44:43] jung1 : Mangalica: yeah, and news about trade energy via eth reminds me enron
[2016-03-07 15:44:47] Mangalica : letters of intent, new "contracts" that never go anywhere, etc
[2016-03-07 15:45:01] Mangalica : haven't heard that one :)
[2016-03-07 15:45:09] jung1 : check great movie
[2016-03-07 15:45:17] jung1 : Enron:smartest guy in the room
[2016-03-07 15:45:26] jung1 : its on youtube also
[2016-03-07 15:45:29] Mangalica : oh yeah i know about Enron and have seen docus about it
[2016-03-07 15:45:53] Mangalica : i just have not heard about the trading energy with ETH story
[2016-03-07 15:46:14] jung1 : check /r/ethtrader and /r/ethereum
[2016-03-07 15:46:21] jung1 : there is somewhere there
[2016-03-07 15:47:40] jung1 : and AUGUR. all the reps (augur tokens) are now for 0.019btc
[2016-03-07 15:47:44] jung1 : madness
[2016-03-07 15:47:56] jung1 : will be same as ethereum
[2016-03-07 15:48:09] Mangalica : i bought some of those as well on presale
[2016-03-07 15:48:29] Mangalica : hopefully they can get it up and running asap
[2016-03-07 15:48:31] jung1 : good move
[2016-03-07 15:48:49] jung1 : what you have in portfolio for '16?
[2016-03-07 15:48:54] Mangalica : elections are great for betting
[2016-03-07 15:49:27] Mangalica : nothing, i bought some FCT and Doge earlier his year, but small amounts
[2016-03-07 15:49:51] Mangalica : have a little LTC, still have some ETH from presale and of course Augur REPs
[2016-03-07 15:50:29] jung1 : I sold all mine ltc
[2016-03-07 15:50:44] Mangalica : that basically covers it. I'm more of a momo trader than an investor, so these are actually deviations from what i do
[2016-03-07 15:51:12] rapidtrades : lot of spikes on okc right now
[2016-03-07 15:51:25] rapidtrades : getting ready to cause some mischief maybe
[2016-03-07 15:51:42] Mangalica : yeah what LTC i have left is basically a fraction of the profit from the huge chinese pump a while ago
[2016-03-07 15:51:51] Mangalica : on BTC or LTC, rapid?
[2016-03-07 15:52:02] jung1 : my goal is to collect as much 1500eth as I can. In 9 months from now eth will switch to PoS and for 1500 you could run a node
[2016-03-07 15:54:04] elmorte : jung1: that's USD 15k at current price, no?
[2016-03-07 15:54:15] Mangalica : yes that's the part i wanted to keep, but i have less than 1500 now. Would buy a breakout after consolidation to bring it up there, OR below 0.01
[2016-03-07 15:54:28] jung1 : elmorte: yes
[2016-03-07 15:54:50] jung1 : but after that you will generate couple of eth everyday
[2016-03-07 15:54:54] jung1 : for free
[2016-03-07 15:55:09] jung1 : and it will be only way to mine new eth
[2016-03-07 15:55:14] jung1 : so worth it
[2016-03-07 15:55:16] jung1 : imo
[2016-03-07 15:55:21] elmorte : Do you get to keep the 1500 eth?
[2016-03-07 15:55:40] Mangalica : the details aren't finalized yet, so we'll see
[2016-03-07 15:55:40] jung1 : yes. you have to have 1500eth to run this
[2016-03-07 15:55:46] Mangalica : yes you do elmorte
[2016-03-07 15:55:56] jung1 : but sounds fair
[2016-03-07 15:56:16] jung1 : https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_maid
[2016-03-07 15:56:17] elmorte : Thanks dudes. Where can I read more about this?
[2016-03-07 15:56:33] jung1 : elmorte: reddit.com/r/ethereum
[2016-03-07 15:56:46] elmorte : Other than reddit preferably :)
[2016-03-07 15:57:14] jung1 : ethereum site
[2016-03-07 15:57:18] jung1 : and their blog posts
[2016-03-07 15:59:29] elmorte : Mangalica: which details aren't finalized yet?
[2016-03-07 16:07:49] rapidtrades : finex dead?
[2016-03-07 16:11:00] rapidtrades : i fucking hate bitcoin trading man
[2016-03-07 16:11:11] rapidtrades : takes 10 mins to execute few coins
[2016-03-07 16:11:45] rapidtrades : if u don't hog the bid/ask u'll never get executed on finex, whata joke of a site
[2016-03-07 16:12:14] rapidtrades : 8+ mins and i can't get 2 bts filled
[2016-03-07 16:13:49] rapidtrades : when the bids finally move it spikes $2 dollars cos the mm are f stupid
[2016-03-07 16:14:24] rapidtrades : wouldn't be surprised if this is an inside job, dunno how it makes sense otherwise
[2016-03-07 16:14:36] elmorte : mm the bots or mm the market makers?
[2016-03-07 16:14:46] sleger : your complaining doesnt make sense, either they are actually smart and that's why you're pissed, or if they are stupid then you should be happy because you can arb them
[2016-03-07 16:15:05] rapidtrades : sleger: plz go drive ur maserati
[2016-03-07 16:15:59] rapidtrades : u can't arb shit when in/out costs 80 cents...that's why i SAID ITS INSIDE JOB
[2016-03-07 16:16:03] rapidtrades : LEARN TO READ PPL
[2016-03-07 16:16:59] sleger : exchange fees = inside job ?
[2016-03-07 16:18:02] sleger : why do you trade there then ? it's not the first time you're complaining about it. One day I tried coffee ice cream, I didnt like it, and guess what ? I just never had it again
[2016-03-07 16:18:30] rapidtrades : arbs
[2016-03-07 16:18:46] sleger : you just said "u can't arb shit"
[2016-03-07 16:18:57] rapidtrades : u can't arb that specific behavior
[2016-03-07 16:19:10] rapidtrades : cause trading is so f expensive
[2016-03-07 16:20:49] Mangalica : elmorte, i meant the details after they switch to proof of stake. Inflation, coins needed for staking, things like that
[2016-03-07 16:29:55] j8 : rapidtrades: it's just a result of fee structure, no one wants to be taker until necessary. i just lock the bid/ask until i get filled. and as maker i pay less fees than taking here
[2016-03-07 16:30:42] rapidtrades : j8: well its the same structure on okc but there it's much easier to get filled
[2016-03-07 16:31:04] rapidtrades : looks like shenanigans but i guess could just be idiots
[2016-03-07 16:31:46] j8 : cheaper fees on okc.
[2016-03-07 16:32:52] rapidtrades : how are they ''cheaper''
[2016-03-07 16:33:01] j8 : volume discounts are way easier
[2016-03-07 16:33:01] rapidtrades : it's 0 and 0.2%
[2016-03-07 16:33:20] rapidtrades : its way worse on okc cos its f zero
[2016-03-07 16:33:28] rapidtrades : u can't beat that
[2016-03-07 16:33:31] j8 : it's really hard to reduce your taker fee on finex. takes $10M monthly
[2016-03-07 16:34:01] rapidtrades : but we're talking about clogging the bid/ask, this doesn't happen on okc even with zero fees for limits
[2016-03-07 16:34:25] rapidtrades : it doesn't happen here with rebates
[2016-03-07 16:35:02] rapidtrades : idk maybe finex is the only honest exchange lol
[2016-03-07 16:35:24] j8 : lots of people can take at 0.1 on okc. not many can take under 0.2 on finex
[2016-03-07 16:35:42] jung1 : rapidtrades: kraken is my favourite for btc->usd/uer
[2016-03-07 16:36:01] j8 : but i get what you're saying, all these markets have their own character
[2016-03-07 16:36:10] j8 : for whatever reason
[2016-03-07 16:36:22] rapidtrades : :)
[2016-03-07 16:40:12] j8 : `XBU7D` would probably be locked all the time if there was more liquidity here
[2016-03-07 16:40:48] jung1 : maid dev updatte tommorow
[2016-03-07 16:40:59] jung1 : you can still jump in guys!
[2016-03-07 16:41:59] habibi : stop shilling jung1, its not polo trollbox

[2016-03-07 16:49:14] BTCDJS : yes mate
[2016-03-07 16:49:23] BitMEX_Sam : Please don't put reflinks in our chat
[2016-03-07 16:49:34] BTCDJS : BitMEX_Sam: ok sorry mate
[2016-03-07 16:49:40] sleger : why would anyone use it instead of just creating a dummy account and refer himself ? @BTCDJS
[2016-03-07 16:49:46] BTCDJS : didn't know it was forbidden
[2016-03-07 16:50:04] sleger : imagine if the 330 users start all posting their referral link ...
[2016-03-07 16:50:04] BitMEX_Sam : No worries, at some point we'll do a more formal page re: rules when we expand out the chat system
[2016-03-07 16:50:09] BTCDJS : sleger: good idea
[2016-03-07 16:52:32] habibi : change name to chat so people dont bring stupid habits from trollboxes
[2016-03-07 17:02:23] jung1 : this chat name is Trollbox
[2016-03-07 17:02:26] jung1 : so
[2016-03-07 17:04:03] elmorte : so....you're Korean and habibi's an Arab? :)
[2016-03-07 17:05:43] jung1 : close enough
[2016-03-07 17:21:50] jung1 : https://poloniex.com/marginTrading#btc_maid 600btc sell wall
[2016-03-07 17:22:01] jung1 : could be good time to buy after drop
[2016-03-07 17:22:24] sleger : jung1: is maid traded here ?
[2016-03-07 17:22:31] jung1 : no
[2016-03-07 17:22:36] sleger : wrong chat then
[2016-03-07 17:23:18] elmorte : Was Eth leverage increased this week or am I remebering wrong? Thought it was 15x last week...
[2016-03-07 17:24:00] jung1 : yeah, too much conversations here. Better to no post here anything
[2016-03-07 17:24:39] sleger : elmorte: yes
[2016-03-07 17:30:39] elmorte : I didn't know that just having active orders affects your margin/liquidation price...how does that work?
[2016-03-07 17:31:49] sleger : elmorte: https://www.bitmex.com/app/faq
[2016-03-07 17:32:16] elmorte : Which part specifically?
[2016-03-07 17:33:34] jung1 : faq
[2016-03-07 17:34:32] sleger : elmorte: pretty easy to find... https://www.bitmex.com/app/tradingOnMargin
[2016-03-07 17:37:28] elmorte : Thanks
[2016-03-07 17:38:44] elmorte : Does that make sense though? If you are long, and have an open short order to cover, you run the higher risk of liquidation then if you don't have an open short order?
[2016-03-07 17:55:18] sleger : if that were the case it would not make sense
[2016-03-07 17:59:07] sleger : but it's not
[2016-03-07 17:59:44] elmorte : maybe it isn't...maybe it's the case when the short order is bigger than the current position
[2016-03-07 18:00:01] sleger : of course if its bigger
[2016-03-07 18:00:20] sleger : but you said "short order to cover"
[2016-03-07 18:00:25] sleger : not to reverse
[2016-03-07 18:00:39] elmorte : Yes, I'm trying to figure it out
[2016-03-07 18:00:47] sleger : so its not " maybe it isn't" i am telling you it is not
[2016-03-07 18:01:17] sleger : im short h16 I placed a buy 50000 at 400 and my available did not move, I placed a sell 50000 at 500 and it decreased
[2016-03-07 18:03:25] elmorte : "of course if its bigger" Why? What's the logic?
[2016-03-07 18:07:21] elmorte : If you're reversing from x to -x, why must the margin be that much higher?
[2016-03-07 18:10:17] sleger : no it wont
[2016-03-07 18:10:23] sleger : but if you reverse to -2x then yes
[2016-03-07 18:10:28] sleger : it's just logical
[2016-03-07 18:11:35] REKT : Liquidated short on `XBT24H`: Buy 1 @ 411.11 :punch: :whale:
[2016-03-07 18:12:31] elmorte : But only AFTER it's filled though, right?
[2016-03-07 18:14:18] elmorte : I'm trying to figure out why my margin keeps increasing when I add orders...could be unrelated to orders, but I'd like to know for sure
[2016-03-07 18:14:39] elmorte : Can't seem to replicate it on testnet
[2016-03-07 18:18:06] sleger : elmorte: no open orders matter
[2016-03-07 18:18:14] sleger : give one example that you dont understand
[2016-03-07 18:18:40] elmorte : That's what I initially thought...that's why it didn't make sense
[2016-03-07 18:18:55] sleger : it totally makes sense afaik
[2016-03-07 18:22:42] elmorte : So open orders don't increase your margin?
[2016-03-07 18:23:40] sleger : it depends, yes they can
[2016-03-07 18:24:54] rapidtrades : so long or short today fellas
[2016-03-07 18:26:09] micmix : elmorte: open orders reserve margin if executing the order will increase your position
[2016-03-07 18:29:18] jung1 : https://ethereum.org/ homestead website
[2016-03-07 18:29:21] jung1 : looks nice
[2016-03-07 18:30:11] rapidtrades : long or short bitcoin fellas
[2016-03-07 18:30:38] jung1 : short
[2016-03-07 18:31:50] elmorte : micmix: thanks! So increased margin = closer liq. price. The system should cancel your orders though if you're nearing liq. which in turn should give you more breathing room, is that correct?
[2016-03-07 18:32:04] rapidtrades : elmorte: NO
[2016-03-07 18:32:39] elmorte : Which part?
[2016-03-07 18:34:37] elmorte : If the system does not cancel your order meaning you get liq'd faster...well then that's messed up
[2016-03-07 18:36:13] rapidtrades : elmorte: there is no margin cost to orders placed in the opposite direction, it says right there on the interface
[2016-03-07 18:36:20] rapidtrades : cost 0
[2016-03-07 18:36:55] rapidtrades : only if u exceed the amount margin gets taken out
[2016-03-07 18:37:41] rapidtrades : if u ask me, reversing margin for pending orders is an outdated system but lot of things in this space are outdated
[2016-03-07 18:38:00] rapidtrades : plus we have very original solutions like clawback and what not
[2016-03-07 18:38:13] rapidtrades : reserving margin*
[2016-03-07 18:40:55] elmorte : It is somewhat counter-intuitive which is why I'm struggling with the concept
[2016-03-07 18:53:06] rapidtrades : btc-e running away
[2016-03-07 19:04:19] rapidtrades : gonna be highly pissed if we break 450 on this try
[2016-03-07 19:05:52] Teddy76 : rapidtrades: do you trade on it?
[2016-03-07 19:07:39] rapidtrades : do i trade on what
[2016-03-07 19:10:44] rapidtrades : when does that new contraction launch? the 24/48 thingy
[2016-03-07 19:14:19] Teddy76 : btc-e
[2016-03-07 19:14:33] rapidtrades : yes
[2016-03-07 19:23:39] jung1 : eth under 0.02 this week
[2016-03-07 19:28:07] Teddy76 : no support at 0.023
[2016-03-07 19:28:32] Teddy76 : oh see, didn't seen it :)
[2016-03-07 19:31:25] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 226 @ 0.02311

[2016-03-07 20:38:22] splash : the ETH went down. not un-expected I guess
[2016-03-07 20:38:31] splash : factoids... strange beast.

[2016-03-07 20:39:12] jung1 : good investment imo'
[2016-03-07 20:39:58] habibi : splash: didnt u were the one who said " safest bet ever" ? if no, then sorry :)
[2016-03-07 20:41:12] jung1 : hope we will drop to 0.015 at least
[2016-03-07 21:06:04] splash : habibi: no I said eth would pop above 0.03 to scr3w over short sellers then crash (retrace) then up again
[2016-03-07 21:06:20] splash : then major crash
[2016-03-07 21:06:33] splash : but next wave will be insane
[2016-03-07 21:06:52] splash : faaar above what people tnink is possible
[2016-03-07 21:06:58] habibi : splash: then good call so far

[2016-03-07 21:07:15] splash : but imade no money
[2016-03-07 21:07:24] splash : because my trading suck
[2016-03-07 21:07:59] habibi : even waves on 1 minut are great for scalping on eth, pretty easy trading if u careful
[2016-03-07 21:09:38] splash : i cant do 1 minutes
[2016-03-07 21:09:45] splash : because i suc
[2016-03-07 21:09:57] splash : i have issues with where to put stoploss
[2016-03-07 21:10:16] splash : generally I tend to take losses to late and profit to early
[2016-03-07 21:10:24] splash : i know im no good at it
[2016-03-07 21:10:42] splash : actually. my performance is the best when you get market collapse
[2016-03-07 21:11:12] splash : for some strange reason, I trade the best when price is moving extremely fast, like insanely fast
