This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2016-02-26 20:48:47] BitMEX_Greg : Well we have just successfully launched the China A50 futures contract, and also the XBT48H contract for users who wish to roll their positions easily. Once users are more comfortable with the rolling, we will be looking at listing the actual 24H_48H roll contract which will be much more cost effective to roll positions.
[2016-02-26 20:49:45] sleger : are you going to display the size of the insurance fund ? @BitMEX_Greg
[2016-02-26 20:50:08] REKT : Liquidated long on `XBT24H`: Sell 180 @ 423.27
[2016-02-26 20:50:49] BitMEX_Greg : That's not a question I can answer, but I believe it is a topic that is going to be discussed between Arthur, Sam and Wally
[2016-02-26 20:53:14] sleger : not sure why there even need to be a discussion given that its money that belongs to customers
[2016-02-26 21:01:48] mwalshe99 : guys the interface hangs everytime i try and trade

[2016-02-26 21:04:36] mwalshe99 : its fixed now
[2016-02-26 21:04:48] mwalshe99 : isnt the first time its happened
[2016-02-26 21:05:03] mwalshe99 : any reason you think why?
[2016-02-26 21:07:56] BitMEX_Greg : Not
[2016-02-26 21:08:11] BitMEX_Greg : Not too sure* Try monitoring your RAM and CPU usage when you are experiencing the hangups
[2016-02-26 21:08:25] BitMEX_Greg : Chrome can sometimes take up a fair bit of RAM
[2016-02-26 21:13:15] mwalshe99 : ram and cpu usage is minimal
[2016-02-26 21:14:28] mwalshe99 : ever had any cases of orders not being submitted and not being able to tab between positions, closed potisions, active orders ect
[2016-02-26 21:14:42] mwalshe99 : refresh fixes the ui but still cant submiy

[2016-02-26 21:15:03] Tulip_stefan : no issues here with firefox
[2016-02-26 21:15:15] mwalshe99 : my wifi isn't great, could be that?
[2016-02-26 21:15:39] BitMEX_Greg : Not to my knowledge, please keep monitoring and if the problem persists perhaps submit a support request and we can try to look into the backend of your account to see whats happened
[2016-02-26 21:17:13] mwalshe99 : next time it happens ill find out whats wrong
[2016-02-26 21:17:19] sleger : mwalshe99: try another computer

[2016-02-26 21:21:26] mwalshe99 : just trying to help solve a problem
[2016-02-26 21:21:46] BitMEX_Greg : Doesn't seem like other traders are currently experiencing any problems. Can you try another computer / another internet connection point
[2016-02-26 21:22:01] rapidtrades : i had problems cancelling an order earlier
[2016-02-26 21:22:06] habibi : just try use vivaldi, should use less ram and its much faster browser imo
[2016-02-26 21:22:12] rapidtrades : could be bad connection tho
[2016-02-26 21:22:12] BTCDJS : have you tried hitting the screen with a flat hand? used to always work on the tv when i was a kid
[2016-02-26 21:22:20] mwalshe99 : rapidtrades: +1
[2016-02-26 21:22:37] mwalshe99 : i think its a bad connection
[2016-02-26 21:22:43] mwalshe99 : but ui shouldn't hang
[2016-02-26 21:22:49] mwalshe99 : should still be able to navigate
[2016-02-26 21:23:14] habibi : anyway BitMEX_Greg u are a specialist in bringing old ui back, right?
[2016-02-26 21:23:15] mwalshe99 : maybe a connection issue notice
[2016-02-26 21:23:29] rapidtrades : has anyone made some premium selling or bought discount on the daily lately? I haven't seen any opportunities in the past few days
[2016-02-26 21:23:42] mwalshe99 : why can't we just have a choice between the UIs?
[2016-02-26 21:24:03] rapidtrades : dam $3 on the roll, juicy
[2016-02-26 21:24:04] habibi : there was some guy on 24h 3 days ago or sth like that. bough up to 430-431 with some nice bids as well
[2016-02-26 21:24:20] rapidtrades : yeah missed that, did u get some
[2016-02-26 21:24:34] habibi : yea a bit, anyway next day i saw he got liquidated in the morning
[2016-02-26 21:26:13] rapidtrades : dam liquidity rly dropped on the weekly after the roll
[2016-02-26 21:27:39] habibi : 67k open interest in first day is not that bad, and liquidity there was always pretty fucked up
[2016-02-26 21:28:01] habibi : funny is we have same premium on 7d as on rollover
[2016-02-26 21:29:12] rapidtrades : one is too high, one is too low
[2016-02-26 21:29:22] rapidtrades : the question is which one :)
[2016-02-26 21:30:30] BTCDJS : higher no lower, argh i can't decide.
[2016-02-26 21:30:42] habibi : lets leave that as mystery without answer :)
[2016-02-26 21:30:47] rapidtrades : guess that means market expects volatility in next two days and then none
[2016-02-26 21:31:01] rapidtrades : seems about right
[2016-02-26 21:33:37] habibi : eh and premium bot is off
[2016-02-26 21:33:59] rapidtrades : what does that mean @habibi
[2016-02-26 21:34:11] habibi : no more 7k orders on rollover
[2016-02-26 21:34:17] habibi : bids*
[2016-02-26 21:34:24] rapidtrades : ah yes
[2016-02-26 21:34:33] rapidtrades : he's full i guess
[2016-02-26 21:35:16] rapidtrades : BTCDJS: how's it going? did u roof today?
[2016-02-26 21:36:08] BTCDJS : rapidtrades: yeah mate. did a roof by the see side.
[2016-02-26 21:39:00] rapidtrades : BTCDJS: that's a good side
[2016-02-26 21:39:57] BTCDJS : yeah otherwise id bump in to things lol sea*
[2016-02-26 21:42:43] habibi : rapidtrades: so basically arb between 24h and 48h is possible right?
[2016-02-26 21:43:45] Tulip_stefan : Thought about that. if the 24h is accurately priced, it makes no sense to arbitrage them.
[2016-02-26 21:44:31] Tulip_stefan : whether the 24h is accurately priced... ehhh. I'll leave that as an exercise to the reader.
[2016-02-26 21:45:14] rapidtrades : Tulip_stefan: please don't use that expression ever again
[2016-02-26 21:45:42] Tulip_stefan : I'll leave that as an exercise to the reader.
[2016-02-26 21:49:54] Tulip_stefan : Some things are more fun to figure out yourself.
[2016-02-26 22:01:41] rapidtrades : still can't believe they stuck with this UI after so much pushback
[2016-02-26 22:02:00] rapidtrades : not even an option for the old one
[2016-02-26 22:19:22] jesperf : come on dude, it will get better. it's not going to last forever
[2016-02-26 22:21:31] jesperf : what *I* can't believe is how I bought a 512GB SSD and got home with a 256GB SSD. and when I got back to the store they had given my 512GB to someone who bought a 256GB one.
[2016-02-26 22:28:04] sleger : why is the index at 426 still ?
[2016-02-26 22:29:09] habibi : coz coinbase and okc has the most influence this time :D lel
[2016-02-26 22:29:43] sleger : alright let me buy some coinz at 0kc
[2016-02-26 22:39:46] kingscrown : finex 433
[2016-02-26 22:43:34] rapidtrades : did it print 433?
[2016-02-26 22:43:39] rapidtrades : or are u calling it
[2016-02-26 22:44:12] habibi : he has 16 min lag
[2016-02-26 22:45:57] mwalshe99 : gox just made 6000
[2016-02-26 22:48:07] zanza : habibi: You can check here if the Xiaomi Mi 5 will work in your area http://willmyphonework.net/
[2016-02-26 22:48:21] zanza : the official LTE bands are still not exactly sure yet though
[2016-02-26 22:50:09] habibi : zanza: most phones are ok with 1800/2100 bands, its pretty common ones, dont have that problem
[2016-02-26 22:52:21] rapidtrades : yeah finex is the odd bird this time
[2016-02-26 23:08:30] rapidtrades : IS THAT ALL
[2016-02-26 23:08:52] rapidtrades : you're just gonna sit there, right below 430
[2016-02-26 23:09:08] REKT : Liquidated short on `XBT24H`: Buy 428 @ 427.18
[2016-02-26 23:09:52] rapidtrades : I made it angry
[2016-02-26 23:12:38] REKT : Liquidated short on `XBT7D`: Buy 70 @ 431.49
[2016-02-26 23:20:38] REKT : Liquidated short on `XBT24H`: Buy 50 @ 429.46

[2016-02-27 00:05:00] mwalshe99 : how do we find the annualised basis percentage rate?
[2016-02-27 00:14:09] rapidtrades : mwalshe99: is ur chat on the left?
[2016-02-27 00:14:11] gouda : when does withheld profit get released
[2016-02-27 00:14:19] gouda : i think i read every 8 hours is that correct?
[2016-02-27 00:14:33] rapidtrades : gouda: right but it's done on a manual basis
[2016-02-27 00:14:51] gouda : so it could be done sooner depending where that cycle is at
[2016-02-27 00:15:29] rapidtrades : gouda: sooner prolly not
[2016-02-27 00:16:07] rapidtrades : BitMEX_Greg: q

[2016-02-27 00:17:44] BitMEX_Wally : Yes, we aim to unlock 50% of realised PNL at the end of each 8 hour session
[2016-02-27 00:18:18] BitMEX_Wally : Of course, after settlement or weekly rebalance all PNL is moved to your wallet
[2016-02-27 00:20:20] BitMEX_Wally : mwalshe99: the annualised fair basis rate is not shown on the UI but you can get it from the API
[2016-02-27 00:22:56] BitMEX_Wally : https://www.bitmex.com/api/v1/instrument?symbol=XBTM16&columns=fairBasisRate
[2016-02-27 00:23:22] BitMEX_Wally : 0.73 means an annualised rate of 73%
[2016-02-27 00:24:52] BitMEX_Wally : Which is over $100 of basis (for a June expiry)
[2016-02-27 00:28:26] mrp1nk : Called it!

[2016-02-27 18:42:23] BTCDJS : They plan to have any currency there to take part
[2016-02-27 18:42:37] habibi : real usability :)
[2016-02-27 18:42:47] BTCDJS : But it's still brand new so time will tell
[2016-02-27 18:43:17] habibi : as u can see all u see is marketing bullshit thing, u cant tell why people would use that,in what specific case would use and who exacly would use that :)
[2016-02-27 18:43:30] habibi : but no worries, thats how it works :) hype is hype
[2016-02-27 18:45:03] BTCDJS : habibi: fair point. It can always fail. But I see a future for it.
[2016-02-27 18:45:41] habibi : i just proofed u see only hype ;p
[2016-02-27 18:47:03] BTCDJS : No but I see how you think. Like a trader. I admit to be a dreamer. You may sniff at dreamers. But they are the ones who create amazing things we use today
[2016-02-27 18:49:58] jung1 : just go long on eth now
[2016-02-27 18:53:01] justinlooking : it's incredible how much has been built considering there's still 2 major releases planned after homestead
[2016-02-27 18:53:45] jung1 : yeah
[2016-02-27 18:53:59] jung1 : and during that price rise
[2016-02-27 18:54:22] jung1 : eth fundation could selffund for like 7 years
[2016-02-27 18:54:31] jung1 : win-win situation
[2016-02-27 18:54:50] jung1 : it could be next big coin after btc
[2016-02-27 18:54:55] jung1 : in couple of years
[2016-02-27 18:55:33] BTCDJS : justinlooking: exactly! Not even fully established and Microsoft is using it, augur is built on it, slock.it is built on it and has potential. I see Amazon using slock.it.
[2016-02-27 18:55:37] jung1 : Igood that we are here now
[2016-02-27 18:56:21] jung1 : well with microsoft azure basicly every blockchain could be implemented
[2016-02-27 18:58:16] BTCDJS : Driverless cars, fading out lawyers with smart contracts. Come on. Ethereum is a good investment. Very different from Bitcoin. Governments don't even know what to class Bitcoin as.
[2016-02-27 18:59:11] BTCDJS : But sending money anywhere instantly is amazing too
[2016-02-27 19:03:36] jung1 : there will be develope new banking standard based on blockchain technology
[2016-02-27 19:03:40] rapidtrades : BTCDJS: you'll never fade out lawyers imo, laws and contracts are very much open to interpretation...plus asshole will continue to break the law
[2016-02-27 19:04:01] jung1 : and projects like ripple and eth will help with it a lot
[2016-02-27 19:04:32] jung1 : rapidtrades: this is why smart contracs will be normal in couple of years
[2016-02-27 19:04:33] BTCDJS : rapidtrades: yeah i don't mean completely fade but they won't be required in some instances.
[2016-02-27 19:04:38] jung1 : no space for interpretation
[2016-02-27 19:05:04] habibi : jung1: so no need of courts in ur opinion?
[2016-02-27 19:05:30] BTCDJS : habibi: its not black and white
[2016-02-27 19:05:35] rapidtrades : there's always space for interpretation, because language is imperfect
[2016-02-27 19:05:45] BTCDJS : rapidtrades: deep
[2016-02-27 19:05:46] habibi : there need to be space for interpretation.
[2016-02-27 19:05:58] jung1 : habibi: maybe not fully
[2016-02-27 19:05:59] habibi : coz like BTCDJS said, its not black and white :)
[2016-02-27 19:06:11] jung1 : in math you dont have space for interpretation
[2016-02-27 19:06:16] jung1 : 2+2=4
[2016-02-27 19:06:25] jung1 : and you cant change it
[2016-02-27 19:06:32] jung1 : in any way
[2016-02-27 19:06:55] BTCDJS : habibi: don't try to take an intelligent statement by me and turn it into ammo for your argument
[2016-02-27 19:07:17] habibi : BTCDJS: so u don't agree with ur statement?
[2016-02-27 19:07:19] habibi : jung1: so what :D?
[2016-02-27 19:07:34] rapidtrades : lol habibi made another enemy?
[2016-02-27 19:07:41] Tulip_stefan : rapidtrades: that is why i spend most of my time conversing with a computer in a programming language. No space for interpretation there. Everything is specified.
[2016-02-27 19:07:54] BTCDJS : habibi: are you agreeing with me?
[2016-02-27 19:08:15] habibi : with black&white? totally
[2016-02-27 19:08:33] jung1 : habibi: so that if you will make smart contract and both sides will agree with all specification you cant change it by interpretation
[2016-02-27 19:08:34] rapidtrades : jung1: laws are not math though...
[2016-02-27 19:08:47] jung1 : yet
[2016-02-27 19:08:51] BTCDJS : ok just not sure in what context you were using it ?
[2016-02-27 19:08:55] habibi : jung1: so it will be very limited smart contracts that won't surpass law in any kind
[2016-02-27 19:09:36] Tulip_stefan : Laws have lots of room for interpretation. That is why we have judges that tell us how the laws must be interpreted...
[2016-02-27 19:09:52] BTCDJS : habibi: there are many things lawyers get involved in
[2016-02-27 19:09:58] rapidtrades : i don't see a way for smart contracts in this political climate, unless in some very narrow fashion like babibi says
[2016-02-27 19:10:02] Tulip_stefan : If the law was exact, no need for lawsuits.
[2016-02-27 19:10:30] rapidtrades : well no need for courts or lawyers yes...lawsuits will still exist
[2016-02-27 19:10:31] jung1 : it will be use in 3rd world countries
[2016-02-27 19:11:15] jung1 : and you will have for example land ownership in blockchain
[2016-02-27 19:11:18] rapidtrades : i wouldn't put my faith in the 3rd world, we see how that turned out with bitcoin
[2016-02-27 19:11:32] jung1 : give it a time
[2016-02-27 19:11:37] BTCDJS : rapidtrades: lawyers don't just interpret law in cases of criminality you know. they work with making contract to make them binding. if smart contracts are hard code written as to what they mean then a lower need not get involved
[2016-02-27 19:11:40] jung1 : bitcoin is 6yrs only
[2016-02-27 19:11:47] rapidtrades : this shitcoin is barely used for shopping outside the US
[2016-02-27 19:12:06] habibi : how u wanna ur smart contracts judge whether kid should stay with father/mother or both parents?
[2016-02-27 19:12:07] BTCDJS : but they will still be required for many other things
[2016-02-27 19:12:35] jung1 : habibi: shure you cant
[2016-02-27 19:12:45] habibi : so court will stay, thank u
[2016-02-27 19:12:58] jung1 : but birth act, could be easly made there
[2016-02-27 19:13:10] rapidtrades : if u want contracts to have no room for interpretation, you'll have to make them HUUUUUGE...and then you'll still need lawyers to create the contract for u
[2016-02-27 19:13:13] habibi : and what does it have to do with court?
[2016-02-27 19:13:28] habibi : jung1: ^
[2016-02-27 19:13:59] BTCDJS : rapidtrades: you guys are only thinking of one aspect of lawyers job.
[2016-02-27 19:14:07] jung1 : I did not say that there is no need for court
[2016-02-27 19:14:15] jung1 : but it will be big improvement
[2016-02-27 19:14:19] rapidtrades : BTCDJS: you're right, banging hot chicks is the other

[2016-02-27 19:30:52] Tulip_stefan : I just visited hitbtc's site for the first time in a year, and it's completely broken. Charts don't load. Trades not visible, order controls broken. What the hell happened?
[2016-02-27 19:31:34] Tulip_stefan : Looking through their last trades, it sure looks like someone is losing a lot of money manipulating the market. But why?
[2016-02-27 19:32:57] Tulip_stefan : really sad an exchange with such a good api is this crappy..

[2016-02-27 21:25:32] Tulip_stefan : This was the most boring saturday in a really long while. No inspiration to code something at all.
[2016-02-27 21:53:44] jung1 : feel welcome in ETH spaceship
[2016-02-27 21:57:11] Tulip_stefan : At this point i have been invited into the 'ETH spaceship' so many times that i simply refuse to go near it. The spam was already annoying 2 weeks ago. Now it's just absurd.
[2016-02-27 22:00:14] sleger : jump in it wont be so annoying after that. And maybe you can run your algo there too ?
[2016-02-27 22:09:33] Tulip_stefan : I'm not sure how well my algo will do there. I should do some research on that.
[2016-02-27 22:11:58] Tulip_stefan : I don't have much hope that it will, actually.
[2016-02-27 22:12:34] rapidtrades : Tulip_stefan: yeah f eth
[2016-02-27 22:13:40] Tulip_stefan : downloading polo eth data to run some simulations on....

[2016-02-27 22:15:10] Tulip_stefan : poloniex api
[2016-02-27 22:15:56] Tulip_stefan : i can hand you the data if you want, takes me 10 minutes to create a script to get it.
[2016-02-27 22:16:43] rapidtrades : i wouldn't know what to do with it at this point...unless it can be imported into mt4 somehow
[2016-02-27 22:18:05] Tulip_stefan : i store everything as csv.
[2016-02-27 22:19:31] Rdnkjdi : 1.2 million hit polo yesterday from a genesis buyer
[2016-02-27 22:19:33] Rdnkjdi : https://www.reddit.com/r/ethtrader/comments/47v17v/1220000_eth_hit_poloniex_wallet_20_hours_ago/
[2016-02-27 22:22:11] rapidtrades : Tulip_stefan: tnx that would prolly work, I'll contact u if I need some data
[2016-02-27 22:22:38] rapidtrades : not thinking about eth right now, too much other things to test
[2016-02-27 22:23:48] rapidtrades : learning programming is like a catch 22....I need it to speed up my testing but if I start learning now it will slow down my current testing that needs to be done
[2016-02-27 22:32:45] Tulip_stefan : sleger, how much code is your bot platform?
