This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2016-02-16 20:28:22] habibi : yep and literally margin calls
[2016-02-16 20:28:39] habibi : hello, would u like to add some margin to ur position on 100x
[2016-02-16 20:28:42] habibi : oh sorry, its gone
[2016-02-16 20:29:07] tscha : yeah, arthur calling rapidtrades from hongkong to USA to tell him his 20 contracts are close to liquidation
[2016-02-16 20:29:49] laisee : wire some funds to cover the shortfall ...
[2016-02-16 20:36:06] BitMEX_Sam : Yeah that's easy to do, just have rapidtrades put his home phone num on here
[2016-02-16 20:36:16] BitMEX_Sam : I'm sure he'd be happy to volunteer his time
[2016-02-16 20:36:48] rapidtrades : which one? I have several...
[2016-02-16 20:39:19] tscha : the one starting with +1
[2016-02-16 20:39:48] laisee : rapidtrades: the one hanging on the wall with a curly cord to the receiver.
[2016-02-16 20:41:15] rapidtrades : s&p looks very top heavy on monthly chart
[2016-02-16 20:41:48] rapidtrades : if 1800 breaks there will be some fireworls
[2016-02-16 20:52:27] habibi : BitMEX_Sam: small thing, mark price from position tab is faster updated that one from instrument table
[2016-02-16 20:52:31] habibi : at eth*
[2016-02-16 20:52:48] BitMEX_Sam : habibi: Thanks - lots of improvements coming very soon
[2016-02-16 20:52:59] BitMEX_Sam : Aware of some update bugs, they should all be squashed in Testnet
[2016-02-16 20:53:17] BitMEX_Sam : I plan to roll the new UI in < 24hrs
[2016-02-16 20:53:40] justinlooking : new ui or update bug fixes?
[2016-02-16 20:54:57] BitMEX_Sam : New UI
[2016-02-16 20:55:17] justinlooking : wicked
[2016-02-16 20:56:37] habibi : Sam will be option to stay with old ui in options?
[2016-02-16 20:56:45] j8 : BitMEX_Sam: theres an issue with the links at the very top on testnet, makes the app freeze for me
[2016-02-16 20:57:44] BitMEX_Sam : habibi: No, we will continue to support the Advanced UI but the old order controls will go
[2016-02-16 20:57:54] BitMEX_Sam : The main reason for the rework is the new order types
[2016-02-16 20:58:06] BitMEX_Sam : There's simply too many options to fit in the limited space the order controls currently takes up.
[2016-02-16 20:58:11] BitMEX_Sam : j8: Will check that out
[2016-02-16 21:39:45] REKT : Liquidated long on `XBT24H`: Sell 1000 @ 404.18
[2016-02-16 22:07:43] tscha : price 404 again, bitmex servers down? haha
[2016-02-16 22:08:16] tscha : that was funny indeed
[2016-02-16 22:15:44] messiaen8844 : 404 bulls not found?
[2016-02-16 22:24:16] BitMEX_Sam : tscha: Hah we fixed the monitoring. That was definitely a rude issue
[2016-02-16 22:37:18] rapidtrades : BitMEX_Sam: why does the orderbook flicker on every execution
[2016-02-16 22:37:33] BitMEX_Sam : rapidtrades: Let me check on that
[2016-02-16 22:38:22] tscha : can confirm that.. not sure when it happens, but it flickers sometimes, looks like all orders disappear and re-appear moments later
[2016-02-16 22:39:32] BitMEX_Sam : Seeing what looks like an orderbook refetching bug
[2016-02-16 22:39:43] BitMEX_Sam : So when it gets re-fetched, it very quickly blanks while it rerenders
[2016-02-16 22:42:50] djuan : habibi: do you think we are looking at going to 390 again or up?
[2016-02-16 22:43:19] habibi : up or sideways above 2700 area imo
[2016-02-16 22:43:58] habibi : sideways=chop 2710-2750
[2016-02-16 22:44:06] djuan : habibi: i need to stop watching whale calls. their messing with my head lol
[2016-02-16 22:45:13] habibi : okc margin is usable when it reach more than 55-57% so we can expect some push/dump to reach MCs
[2016-02-16 22:45:17] rapidtrades : what's the point of the bots going over me after I match them?
[2016-02-16 22:45:29] rapidtrades : don't they know they have priority?
[2016-02-16 22:45:57] habibi : some of them dont know that or maybe some of them wanna make u go in front of them
[2016-02-16 22:46:11] djuan : habibi: MCs? whats that?
[2016-02-16 22:46:15] rapidtrades : yeah so they can sell into me right @habibi
[2016-02-16 22:46:50] djuan : margin calls
[2016-02-16 22:47:11] rapidtrades : speak in full sentences plz
[2016-02-16 22:47:22] djuan : lol
[2016-02-16 22:47:29] habibi : he explained himself what mc is
[2016-02-16 22:47:42] rapidtrades : oh nvm
[2016-02-16 22:47:44] djuan : yeah had a daft moment
[2016-02-16 22:48:21] djuan : rapidtrades: whats your opinion on price?
[2016-02-16 22:48:35] rapidtrades : i'm heavily long right now
[2016-02-16 22:48:42] rapidtrades : don't tell anyone tho
[2016-02-16 22:48:47] habibi : rapidtrades: dont know, i like to play against bots like these on when i am taking position from market
[2016-02-16 22:49:10] rapidtrades : habibi: problem is, we're at a discount
[2016-02-16 22:49:31] mrp1nk : probably until settlement, or not?
[2016-02-16 22:49:42] habibi : if we break 2755-58 discount will be over imo
[2016-02-16 22:50:02] djuan : rapidtrades: I'm waiting for the right time to enter M16. but i have a feeling price is going to drop before it takes off
[2016-02-16 22:50:04] rapidtrades : really surprising we haven't rallied yet...only $10 above $400
[2016-02-16 22:50:29] mwalshe99 : weekly says down
[2016-02-16 22:50:30] mwalshe99 : rally will be thin
[2016-02-16 22:50:34] mwalshe99 : still a bit too thin atm
[2016-02-16 22:50:54] messiaen8844 : 10 mins.. will be epic to either side
[2016-02-16 22:51:59] messiaen8844 : feels toppish to me, I'm with the bears on this.
[2016-02-16 22:52:22] rapidtrades : noone's bullish huh
[2016-02-16 22:52:37] rapidtrades : i like this
[2016-02-16 22:52:47] djuan : want to be but its uncertain atm
[2016-02-16 22:53:02] rapidtrades : markets climb on a wall of worry b1tch
[2016-02-16 22:54:47] messiaen8844 : bulls seem exhausted in past few hours... ,major divergence also
[2016-02-16 22:55:09] messiaen8844 : needs at least some dip to regain bull force IMO
[2016-02-16 22:55:22] rapidtrades : lol @divergence
[2016-02-16 22:55:26] messiaen8844 : it has been making lower lows a while
[2016-02-16 22:55:36] rapidtrades : lol @u
[2016-02-16 22:56:06] rapidtrades : just messing around...following my system....agree that charts look ugly
[2016-02-16 22:56:09] djuan : messiaen8844: thats my feeling too.
[2016-02-16 22:56:31] messiaen8844 : but it also seems fishy, could be major major bear trap and explode
[2016-02-16 22:57:18] rapidtrades : hoping for a $50 spike higher here :)
[2016-02-16 22:57:18] messiaen8844 : risk-reward seems very attractive, but if it fails bulls will be very happy
[2016-02-16 22:57:23] djuan : messiaen8844: when it does i think its going to be a major pump
[2016-02-16 22:58:02] messiaen8844 : Could be handle for a Cup and Handle
[2016-02-16 22:58:38] messiaen8844 : someone is really defending against bulls on OKC futures though
[2016-02-16 22:59:00] rapidtrades : okc?
[2016-02-16 22:59:27] messiaen8844 : woodchipper I mean
[2016-02-16 22:59:37] djuan : lol
[2016-02-16 22:59:45] djuan : fell right into that one
[2016-02-16 22:59:47] rapidtrades : yeah i meant okc are doing it themselves?
[2016-02-16 23:00:32] djuan : and here i thought you set up a joke @rapidtrades
[2016-02-16 23:01:02] messiaen8844 : meaning some big traders are selling OKC futures, preventing breakouts
[2016-02-16 23:01:15] djuan : why would they do that? @rapidtrades
[2016-02-16 23:01:20] rapidtrades : no meaning the company is putting a lid on prices
[2016-02-16 23:01:44] djuan : yeah why? what would they gain from that?
[2016-02-16 23:01:54] rapidtrades : djuan: idk but ive seen some shady stuff going on there
[2016-02-16 23:02:45] j8 : nah it's PBOC manipulating bitcoin futures
[2016-02-16 23:03:10] rapidtrades : like price rallying $40-$50 to hit a liquidation, fills it then crashes back down
[2016-02-16 23:03:36] messiaen8844 : that's not exchange, but users doing a stop run
[2016-02-16 23:03:46] messiaen8844 : remember there are whales with millions and millions of dollars
[2016-02-16 23:03:57] djuan : I've got so much to learn
[2016-02-16 23:04:04] rapidtrades : do u have any idea how much money it takes to move price by $40-50
[2016-02-16 23:04:29] djuan : ?
[2016-02-16 23:04:30] rapidtrades : i doubt a bunch of traders collectively decided to rally price, fill a liq then crash back down
[2016-02-16 23:06:33] messiaen8844 : its call buy low sell high
[2016-02-16 23:08:41] messiaen8844 : we just had a $40 dollar rally
[2016-02-16 23:09:03] rapidtrades : no we did not
[2016-02-16 23:09:20] rapidtrades : and that rally happened in the span of few hours
[2016-02-16 23:09:41] rapidtrades : close to Friday's settlement
[2016-02-16 23:09:55] messiaen8844 : i'm thinking at a larger timeframe
[2016-02-16 23:09:57] messiaen8844 : $365 to here
[2016-02-16 23:26:43] tscha : AntPool just mined 2nd Classic block
[2016-02-16 23:26:48] tscha : moontime
[2016-02-16 23:27:05] rapidtrades : noone cares @tscha
[2016-02-16 23:28:00] tscha : Literally everyone cares about a possible upcoming fork - except you I guess
[2016-02-16 23:28:07] micmix : BitMEX_SAM, are you there?
[2016-02-16 23:28:08] rapidtrades : bids side looks weak...some tool trying to bid up orders to sell into?
[2016-02-16 23:29:01] tscha : micmix: better ping him like @BitMEX_Sam
[2016-02-16 23:29:59] rapidtrades : cmon big money cmon big money
[2016-02-16 23:31:36] micmix : BitMEX needs a paging feature, something like say @BitMEX_Sam 3 times and it texts him
[2016-02-16 23:31:46] micmix : could be abused of course
[2016-02-16 23:32:46] BitMEX_Sam : micmix: Hey
[2016-02-16 23:33:06] habibi : tscha: i don't care as long as there will agreement and we will know about it coz it will be occasion for some push up
[2016-02-16 23:33:08] rapidtrades : Sam should be a man and publish his personal cell phone online, like Shkreli does
[2016-02-16 23:33:22] BitMEX_Sam : Yeah you know I want to be just like Shkreli
[2016-02-16 23:33:41] mwalshe99 : BitMEX_Sam: fair play
[2016-02-16 23:33:42] tscha : Maybe you can get Shkreli work at Bitmex
[2016-02-16 23:33:51] mwalshe99 : tscha: +1
[2016-02-16 23:34:02] tscha : BitMEX_Shkreli, responsible for Customer Funds
[2016-02-16 23:34:21] BitMEX_Sam :  :gun:
[2016-02-16 23:34:38] mwalshe99 : you bow drying your hair?
[2016-02-16 23:34:44] mwalshe99 : blow*
[2016-02-16 23:34:54] BitMEX_Sam : Blowing it right off
[2016-02-16 23:35:04] micmix : BitMEX_Sam: Hi Sam! Could you please check rate limiting for bulk orders. I was getting 429 wait 8 minutes after sending 40 orders in one call, even though I should have lots of calls left
[2016-02-16 23:35:48] tscha : micmix: you are sending 40 calls on one instrument? or multiple instruments?
[2016-02-16 23:35:55] tscha : 40 orders*
[2016-02-16 23:36:01] BitMEX_Sam : micmix: What we're seeing is a lot of orderBook calls coming in - it appears the browser client recently has been requesting it more often than it should
[2016-02-16 23:36:04] BitMEX_Sam : I'm pushing an update for that
[2016-02-16 23:36:36] micmix : AFAIK you can't send multiple instruments in one call, have to split by instrument
[2016-02-16 23:36:54] tscha : the browser makes orderbook calls? shouldn't it just use the ws?
[2016-02-16 23:37:00] tscha : ah, good to know, ty @micmix
[2016-02-16 23:37:11] BitMEX_Sam : It does that when it believes that the data it has went stale due to a disconnect
[2016-02-16 23:37:28] tscha : makes sense
[2016-02-16 23:37:53] tscha : should do that on my bot though, it just chills when it disconnects atm :)
[2016-02-16 23:39:35] micmix : I have another system running on my IP that polls orderbooks but it uses public API without authentication, shouldn't affect rate limits. But yeah, if the browser uses authenticated requests for orderbook info, micmix limits will be affected
[2016-02-16 23:41:23] tscha : micmix: I think it does affect rate limits, they do ratelimit by IP I think
[2016-02-16 23:41:59] BitMEX_Sam : We ratelimit by account, and if the user is not logged in, we ratelimit by IP
[2016-02-16 23:42:21] micmix : BitMEX_Sam: something definitely off with rate limit for bulk orders. I can post 100 orders using regular calls but not in one bulk call
[2016-02-16 23:44:02] BitMEX_Sam : I don't see you having placed any bulk calls in the last 10 min
[2016-02-16 23:44:22] micmix : I tried with single calls, now going to try with bulk
[2016-02-16 23:46:32] BitMEX_Sam : micmix: I see the issue
[2016-02-16 23:46:45] BitMEX_Sam : In the meantime you can fix it by not stringifying your order array
[2016-02-16 23:47:13] BitMEX_Sam : You're sending `{"orders": string}` when you should be sending `{"orders": Array}`
[2016-02-16 23:47:37] BitMEX_Sam : I see you sending `{"orders": "[{\"symbol\":\"XBTM16\",..."}`
[2016-02-16 23:48:22] tscha : I made exactly the same error somewhere else a month ago, with authentication array on ws I think
[2016-02-16 23:48:25] miratrader : had to switch accounts, micmix is blocked now
[2016-02-16 23:49:08] miratrader : ok, I'll try with array but it shouldn't matter I think
[2016-02-16 23:49:24] jesperf : BitMEX_Sam: would it be possible to make the PNL calculator remember the last values? I tend to close it randomly and immediately want to get the same values back in again...
[2016-02-16 23:49:40] BitMEX_Sam : jesperf: Yep, I can do that.
[2016-02-16 23:49:56] jesperf : thanks :)
[2016-02-17 00:01:19] tscha : finex looks weird today, very jittery and books are thin
[2016-02-17 00:02:49] tscha : many trades with low volume that move the price relatively far in both directions
[2016-02-17 00:04:11] tscha : seems like the spread is quite high a lot of the time
[2016-02-17 00:09:13] rapidtrades : what's going on
[2016-02-17 00:11:46] tscha : Not much. Except that I am thrilled about Antpool running Classic.
[2016-02-17 00:12:02] habibi : tscha: why u thrilled?
[2016-02-17 00:12:25] tscha : habibi: Because it's a big step towards blocksize increase, which I like
[2016-02-17 00:12:47] tscha : Plus, time around fork will create lots of volatility = good for trading
[2016-02-17 00:13:02] habibi : hard fork if classic wins
[2016-02-17 00:13:27] habibi : soft one if core will stay if they dont change mind
[2016-02-17 00:15:44] habibi : anyway still long way and i am pretty sure we will stay with core and i would be sad if classic wins
[2016-02-17 00:16:20] rapidtrades : I could care less who wins
[2016-02-17 00:16:34] BitMEX_Wally : *couldn't care less
[2016-02-17 00:16:40] tscha : :)
[2016-02-17 00:16:41] rapidtrades : WHAT
[2016-02-17 00:17:34] BitMEX_Wally : rapidtrades: If you could care less who wins, then that means you currently care more than not at all, meaning you do care
[2016-02-17 00:18:44] rapidtrades : BitMEX_Wally: *throws Zika at u
[2016-02-17 00:19:23] TraderStefan : so when can I trade A50G16?
[2016-02-17 00:19:31] BitMEX_Wally : At 13:00 UTC
[2016-02-17 00:19:41] BitMEX_Wally : I mean 01:00 UTC
[2016-02-17 00:19:47] BitMEX_Wally : In 40 minutes
[2016-02-17 00:19:53] TraderStefan : thx
[2016-02-17 00:19:56] rapidtrades : dam
[2016-02-17 00:21:24] rapidtrades : BitMEX_Wally: doesn't china open in 2 hrs?
[2016-02-17 00:21:47] BitMEX_Wally : This is a 24/7 future
[2016-02-17 00:22:11] rapidtrades : what's it settled on
[2016-02-17 00:25:27] BitMEX_Wally : China opens in 35 minutes
[2016-02-17 00:26:01] habibi : and then u gonna turn on A50?
[2016-02-17 00:26:35] BitMEX_Wally : China A shares
[2016-02-17 00:27:37] habibi : http://www.ibm.com/blockchain/ :D
[2016-02-17 00:29:24] rapidtrades : BitMEX_Wally: But the actual china market doesn't open until 2 hrs from now?
[2016-02-17 00:29:40] rapidtrades : or is this Chinese shares on other exchanges
[2016-02-17 00:30:41] BitMEX_Arthur : The futures in Singapore open in 30 minutes
[2016-02-17 00:30:47] BitMEX_Wally : The future in Singapore opens at 9am, then the stocks in Shanghai and Shenzhen open 9:30am
[2016-02-17 00:30:59] habibi : yea when u gonna open instrument
[2016-02-17 00:31:06] BitMEX_Wally : 30 minutes
[2016-02-17 00:31:10] habibi : ah k
[2016-02-17 00:31:14] habibi : u mm it from start?
[2016-02-17 00:32:12] BitMEX_Arthur : We have initial market makers
[2016-02-17 00:32:29] BitMEX_Arthur : Don't worry it will be tighter than a ...
[2016-02-17 00:32:37] BitMEX_Arthur : insert your hole of preference
[2016-02-17 00:33:04] habibi : it moves as much as composite index?
[2016-02-17 00:33:16] habibi : Arthur! u nasty boy
[2016-02-17 00:33:20] BitMEX_Wally : https://blog.bitmex.com/bitmex-china-a50-futures-arbitrage/
[2016-02-17 00:34:26] BitMEX_Wally : A50 is the top 50 A-shares whereas composite includes A-sharses and B-shares
[2016-02-17 00:35:31] micmix : I like the 'A-sharses', pronounced 'ash-arses'
[2016-02-17 00:36:36] BitMEX_Wally : Hah
[2016-02-17 00:36:55] habibi : BitMEX_Arthur: how to trade that ? it follows this index somehow? http://finance.sina.com.cn/realstock/company/sh000001/nc.shtml
[2016-02-17 00:38:00] BitMEX_Arthur : What do you mean how do you trade, same as anything else go long or short with leverage
[2016-02-17 00:38:12] BitMEX_Arthur : if the index goes up 1%, your return in bitcoin goes up 1%
[2016-02-17 00:38:28] BitMEX_Wally : You can trade the 50 companies yourself, or the SGX future, or an ETF tracker...
[2016-02-17 00:38:46] habibi : BitMEX_Wally: i rather was asking about some tips
[2016-02-17 00:39:07] BitMEX_Arthur : I would read the arbitrage article Wally posted above
[2016-02-17 00:39:13] BitMEX_Arthur : But in general it's another market to trade
[2016-02-17 00:39:25] BitMEX_Arthur : Depending on your view of China
[2016-02-17 00:39:41] BitMEX_Arthur : The A50 is predominately banks, insurance cos, and real estate
[2016-02-17 00:39:55] BitMEX_Arthur : So maybe you have been reading what Kyle Bass has been saying about the banking system being f'd
[2016-02-17 00:40:01] BitMEX_Arthur : And you want to express that view by going short
[2016-02-17 00:40:05] BitMEX_Arthur : You can do that with our contract
[2016-02-17 00:40:51] habibi : nah, just looked at fees, feels like its not another unliquid market that will go 2%up then 1% down in 2 hours
[2016-02-17 00:42:05] BitMEX_Wally : http://money.cnn.com/2016/01/20/investing/china-market-volatility-regulator/
[2016-02-17 00:42:24] BitMEX_Wally : It's not as volatile as Bitcoin though
[2016-02-17 00:44:16] habibi : let pros play this market, mm can be profitable tho
[2016-02-17 00:44:37] tscha : well, but bitcoin is volatile, so the contract will be too
[2016-02-17 00:44:39] djuan : BitMEX_Wally: any desire to trade REP when augur launches?
[2016-02-17 00:44:55] BitMEX_Wally : Sure if there's demand
[2016-02-17 00:45:10] BitMEX_Wally : No-one is trading `XLT7D` anymore
[2016-02-17 00:45:24] habibi : coz of litecoin chart :p
[2016-02-17 00:45:46] BitMEX_Wally : We're going to add charting for the underlying index/spot prices
[2016-02-17 00:45:49] habibi : flat as my ex gf
[2016-02-17 00:45:57] djuan : Yeah the charts a little off
[2016-02-17 00:47:06] tscha : habibi: but XLT sucks more than ur gf
[2016-02-17 00:47:25] habibi : ex gf!
[2016-02-17 00:47:27] djuan : That's what she said

[2016-02-17 01:00:35] BitMEX_Wally : A50 is live: https://www.bitmex.com/app/trade/A50G16
[2016-02-17 01:03:21] habibi : hm discount or not?
[2016-02-17 01:14:21] BitMEX_Wally : We mark the future to the price of the future on the SGX
[2016-02-17 01:14:42] BitMEX_Wally : You can track the price on SGX (via a CFD) here: http://www.investing.com/indices/china-a50-chart
[2016-02-17 01:18:23] messiaen8844 : BitMEX_Wally: is that real time or delayed?
[2016-02-17 01:18:44] BitMEX_Wally : The CFD on investing.com is real time
[2016-02-17 01:18:48] messiaen8844 : ok
[2016-02-17 01:18:52] aethlios : messiaen8844: looks real time
[2016-02-17 01:20:05] lockhedge : BitMEX_Wally: http://www.ig.com/sg/ig-indices/china-a50 already working on their api... where do you get your data for the settlement price? directly from SGX or a CFD provider?
[2016-02-17 01:20:34] BitMEX_Wally : lockhedge: Neither
[2016-02-17 01:20:55] BitMEX_Wally : We settle the future on the China A50 index. Not on some random CFD!
[2016-02-17 01:21:14] messiaen8844 : Is this on TradingView also?
[2016-02-17 01:21:18] messiaen8844 : this index?
[2016-02-17 01:21:42] BitMEX_Wally : Yes
[2016-02-17 01:26:05] lockhedge : BitMEX_Wally: how do you calculate the 'ìndicative settlement price´? is it possible to obtain the official real-time reference price? any suggestions how to avoid obtaining data from CFD providers?
[2016-02-17 01:26:05] messiaen8844 : A50 already live, cool
[2016-02-17 01:26:37] BitMEX_Wally : The indicative settlement price is currently the last official closing price of the A50 Index
[2016-02-17 01:26:52] j8 : BitMEX_Wally: the `.A50` Index Details page has many `undefined` fields which you've defined here for us
[2016-02-17 01:27:15] BitMEX_Wally : `The BitMEX .A50 Index tracks the undefined price every minute. The undefined price is calculated from the last price at undefined. The .A50 index price is shown on many pages as the current undefined price.`
[2016-02-17 01:27:17] BitMEX_Wally : We will fix this
[2016-02-17 01:27:31] BitMEX_Sam : :) Will fix that ASAP.
[2016-02-17 01:27:36] j8 : :)
[2016-02-17 01:28:08] BitMEX_Wally : lockhedge: The CFD providers are probably just tracking the SGX Future
[2016-02-17 01:29:50] zanza : whoa, A50
[2016-02-17 01:35:08] lockhedge : BitMEX_Wally: yes, that's the problem. http://www.sgx.com/wps/portal/sgxweb/home/services/market-data/our-data-vendors so i would have to use one of these vendors (e.g. Bloomberg) to get the original SGX real-time data? any recommendation? who are you using?
[2016-02-17 01:39:31] BitMEX_Wally : lockhedge: You could try getting the data via a broker
[2016-02-17 01:39:33] aethlios : BitMEX_Wally: hello, for A50 is commission maker -0.1%?? for 10 contracts I received 0.0059 btc which is lower.
[2016-02-17 01:40:10] BitMEX_Wally : aethlios: Let me check
[2016-02-17 01:48:00] BitMEX_Wally : aethlios: If you refresh you will see the correct amount

[2016-02-17 07:03:26] djuan : Yeah! Now we're talking ?? high five
[2016-02-17 07:10:37] rapidtrades : what a min....a50 is trading at 100 points discount
[2016-02-17 07:11:26] rapidtrades : is the index closed atm? seems a bit too much
[2016-02-17 07:14:03] TraderStefan : http://www.ig.com/sg/ig-indices/china-a50
[2016-02-17 07:15:31] BitMEX_Wally : rapidtrades: If you think it's too low why don't you go borrow some A shares and short China to arb the difference?
[2016-02-17 07:15:40] rapidtrades : that's even more confusing... @TraderStefan
[2016-02-17 07:16:00] rapidtrades : prices on ig are 200 points below index and 100 below here
[2016-02-17 07:16:44] BitMEX_Wally : Well the index market is closed now
[2016-02-17 07:17:18] rapidtrades : well that's what i was asking :)
[2016-02-17 07:17:39] rapidtrades : http://www.bloomberg.com/quote/XU1:IND
[2016-02-17 07:17:50] rapidtrades : bloomberg's quoting closer to here
[2016-02-17 07:18:03] BitMEX_Wally : The future on SGX trades until 2am China time
[2016-02-17 07:18:05] rapidtrades : guess bloomberg is the futures?
[2016-02-17 07:18:51] BitMEX_Wally : Yes
[2016-02-17 07:19:27] BitMEX_Wally : We mark our future to the price of the SGX future
[2016-02-17 07:19:55] rapidtrades : then why does the index say 9047 when futures are 100 points lower
[2016-02-17 07:20:10] rapidtrades : or is it marked on futures, settled on spot
[2016-02-17 07:20:22] BitMEX_Wally : Correct
[2016-02-17 07:21:01] BitMEX_Wally : The SGX future settles on the index price, so if we settled on the SGX future price it would be the same thing
[2016-02-17 07:21:03] altcoinsdotin : hi
[2016-02-17 07:21:20] BitMEX_Wally : rapidtrades: You can always buy the future and sell the index
[2016-02-17 07:21:21] altcoinsdotin : what is the effective max leverage of the new a50 product?
[2016-02-17 07:21:30] BitMEX_Wally : altcoinsdotin: 100x
[2016-02-17 07:21:33] altcoinsdotin : thanks
[2016-02-17 07:21:35] altcoinsdotin : good job
[2016-02-17 07:21:37] BitMEX_Wally : The maintenance margin requirement is 1%
[2016-02-17 07:21:44] altcoinsdotin : ah ok of course
[2016-02-17 07:22:04] BitMEX_Wally : Initial margin requirement is 4% so you can open at 25x
[2016-02-17 07:25:07] rapidtrades : BitMEX_Wally: is the marking on a50 automatic? how often does it happen
[2016-02-17 07:25:29] BitMEX_Wally : It is automatically marked to the SGX future
[2016-02-17 07:25:48] rapidtrades : how often? is it delayed?
[2016-02-17 07:25:58] BitMEX_Wally : There might be 1 second dela
[2016-02-17 07:26:21] BitMEX_Wally : I imagine the market makers will have quicker feeds
[2016-02-17 07:26:24] rapidtrades : oh cool...so I can use that to get a general idea where a50 is atm
[2016-02-17 07:26:49] BitMEX_Wally : Yes, although we reserve the right to mark the contracts how ever we want
[2016-02-17 07:27:01] rapidtrades : well great :)
[2016-02-17 07:27:37] BitMEX_Wally : So our future last traded at 8955 and it is marked to 8947.5 (from SGX) and the underlying index last official price was 9047.5
[2016-02-17 07:27:58] rapidtrades : I see 8940
[2016-02-17 07:28:18] BitMEX_Wally : For which number?
[2016-02-17 07:28:22] rapidtrades : mark
[2016-02-17 07:28:33] BitMEX_Wally : 8950

[2016-02-17 07:30:03] BitMEX_Wally : It's ticking for me
[2016-02-17 07:30:08] BitMEX_Wally : 8947.5 now
[2016-02-17 07:30:21] rapidtrades : well obv...just checking if its me

[2016-02-17 07:33:42] rapidtrades : so the mark will stop moving now?
[2016-02-17 07:33:50] BitMEX_Wally : No
[2016-02-17 07:33:56] BitMEX_Wally : The index will stop moving until China opens again
[2016-02-17 07:33:59] BitMEX_Wally : But the futures trade on
[2016-02-17 07:38:22] rapidtrades : are those futures 24/5?
[2016-02-17 07:41:23] BitMEX_Wally : 9am to 2am Monday to Friday
[2016-02-17 07:41:31] BitMEX_Wally : Ours are 24/7 though :)

[2016-02-17 09:45:28] BitMEX_Wally : The number of contracts is then automatically calculated
[2016-02-17 09:46:11] tscha : micmix: btw, did you find a solution to the bulk order issue consuming too many calls?
[2016-02-17 09:46:27] BitMEX_Wally : tscha: Sam fixed that I think
[2016-02-17 09:48:08] micmix : tscha: Sam said it's an issue when array is stringified. if you don't stringify you'll be good, haven't tried yet
[2016-02-17 09:48:24] micmix : BitMEX_Wally: oh cool, glad it's fixed
[2016-02-17 09:52:09] tscha : so we are all set for moon... very good
[2016-02-17 09:52:28] tscha : micmix: btw, antpool mined 2nd classic block if you haven't heard
[2016-02-17 09:52:55] tscha : majority of ant runs still on core, but they are testing classic
[2016-02-17 09:53:17] micmix : yeah, saw that on nodecounter today
[2016-02-17 10:34:23] habibi : 267k liquidation, nice:)
[2016-02-17 10:36:15] laisee : damn, was that the 'new' guy?
[2016-02-17 10:36:26] habibi : i bet so
[2016-02-17 10:36:34] habibi : love him
[2016-02-17 10:36:43] tscha : still unsure what this guy is doing
[2016-02-17 10:36:45] habibi : liquidity provider as i said before :)
[2016-02-17 10:38:14] tscha : sometimes he trades directly before spot moves substantially, sometimes he is just doing dumb things... yesterday (well I think he was him) he bought like $2 above premium 10min before settlement
[2016-02-17 10:38:19] tscha : pretty weird dude
[2016-02-17 10:39:33] habibi : nah tscha i think its just some of us trying to do some frontrunning of china moves
[2016-02-17 10:39:54] habibi : and yea the second option u mention is totally him looking at open interest at that time
[2016-02-17 10:43:16] tscha : who is "frontrunning" China here? this is definitely him, you can see open interest building up by *a lot* right before many big moves
[2016-02-17 10:46:04] habibi : actually i would say he was totally wrong in many cases
[2016-02-17 10:50:14] habibi : i dont know who beside me but i bet someones do it as well, anyway i don't think its his job. he is rather very dramatic guy in terms of building his position
[2016-02-17 10:52:19] tscha : talking solely about bitmex, I am pretty sure he made a loss here too overall
[2016-02-17 11:07:18] habibi : rapidtrades: hows ur mood?
[2016-02-17 11:09:24] 00Smurf : i know i've made a few blunders getting used to the interface
[2016-02-17 11:10:09] 00Smurf : i closed a small long on a large bid and ended up opening a huge short
[2016-02-17 11:10:37] habibi : yea but u did it once and u were carefull probally( i did as well :P)
[2016-02-17 11:10:57] 00Smurf : tried to buy the short out with a long, but all it did was charge me trading fees
[2016-02-17 11:11:07] habibi : and he did same action at least 3 times on diffrent days, and even at same day few times that aciton so it was intetionally opening long
[2016-02-17 11:11:09] 00Smurf : lol and yes ive been super careful since
[2016-02-17 11:11:23] habibi : short*
[2016-02-17 11:24:39] REKT : Liquidated long on `XBT24H`: Sell 5 @ 413.45
[2016-02-17 11:49:50] jung1 : BitMEX_Wally: which version of bitcoi client will you support?
[2016-02-17 11:55:05] tscha : jung1: they run both clients AFAIK
[2016-02-17 11:56:43] rapidtrades : boom, done and done
[2016-02-17 11:57:22] 00Smurf : the splitting of the clients is dumb
[2016-02-17 11:57:49] tscha : 00Smurf: it is not a split, it's an upgrade
[2016-02-17 11:57:49] 00Smurf : we alsmot ran out of bids on xbt24
[2016-02-17 11:58:07] 00Smurf : your talkign about the classic vs the new one
[2016-02-17 11:58:25] tscha : no; i am talking about classic vs core
[2016-02-17 11:59:12] jung1 : Both? There will be no double spending then?
[2016-02-17 11:59:54] chromaticcr : c'mon, there was originally 32MB in satoshi's version. the liimit doenst really prevent spam
[2016-02-17 12:00:23] tscha : jung1: why would there be double spending?
[2016-02-17 12:00:50] jung1 : Yeah but in couple of years blockchain will be hundreds of gbs
[2016-02-17 12:01:33] chromaticcr : @BitMEX_Wally: Today's trade history on bitmex site is attributed with Text:'Submitted via API.', might be confusing to some user
[2016-02-17 12:01:37] jung1 : Couse if there will be coins generated in current version there could be possibility to move them to both versions
[2016-02-17 12:01:41] rapidtrades : oh look...we're bullish all of a sudden
[2016-02-17 12:01:52] 00Smurf : lol who knew
[2016-02-17 12:02:02] 00Smurf : they stacked asks right at end
[2016-02-17 12:02:09] 00Smurf : then stacked bids 1 min before close
[2016-02-17 12:02:13] 00Smurf : interesting tactic
[2016-02-17 12:02:25] chromaticcr : ;)
[2016-02-17 12:02:41] chromaticcr : you mean the 20k order?
[2016-02-17 12:03:15] tscha : jung1: if there is a split to classic (meaning they will reach 75%), then a 4 week period starts before the fork happens. So by the time the fork activates, 99% (most likely more) miners will run Classic, meaning the other chain can be ignored
[2016-02-17 12:04:55] jung1 : If pools and exchanges will not be on same front there could be some serious dump
[2016-02-17 12:05:14] jung1 : Investors will be not comfortable
[2016-02-17 12:05:19] 00Smurf : 8 mins before
[2016-02-17 12:05:21] 00Smurf : http://prntscr.com/a4e933
[2016-02-17 12:05:25] jung1 : Cant wait
[2016-02-17 12:05:32] ayy lmao : downtime in
[2016-02-17 12:05:41] 00Smurf : http://prntscr.com/a4e9aw
[2016-02-17 12:05:47] 00Smurf : ^2 mins before
[2016-02-17 12:05:48] rapidtrades : when's downtime?
[2016-02-17 12:05:53] ayy lmao : 2 hours?
[2016-02-17 12:05:53] tscha : jung1: exactly the opposite is true.. why do you think the price is rising?
[2016-02-17 12:06:12] j8 : 00Smurf: it's just people trying to close and get maker rebate instead of paying settlement fees
[2016-02-17 12:06:22] jung1 : Couse we stayed too long on one prjce
[2016-02-17 12:06:28] rapidtrades : lol
[2016-02-17 12:06:35] tscha : jung1: I suggest you read those slides: http://www.slideshare.net/BrianArmstrong29/bitcoin-is-not-splitting-in-two-it-is-upgrading-58176110
[2016-02-17 12:06:35] ayy lmao : i think 14:00 - 14:30 UTC
[2016-02-17 12:06:38] 00Smurf : forgive me newb question
[2016-02-17 12:06:42] 00Smurf : but what is maker rebate?
[2016-02-17 12:06:59] jung1 : Thanks I will
[2016-02-17 12:07:07] j8 : 00Smurf: you only pay fees if you hit someone's order, if they hit yours you get paid
[2016-02-17 12:07:41] 00Smurf : ahh
[2016-02-17 12:08:00] 00Smurf : so closing or opening into an exsiting bid, means you pay trade fees
[2016-02-17 12:08:10] j8 : yes
[2016-02-17 12:08:16] jung1 : Yup
[2016-02-17 12:08:21] 00Smurf : whereas if you place a bid or ask and it gets run over so to speak you dont have to pay anything
[2016-02-17 12:08:36] jung1 : Correct
[2016-02-17 12:08:41] tscha : jung1: those slides were even translated into Chinese and posted in major Chinese forums, gaining a lot of attention and support
[2016-02-17 12:09:06] 00Smurf : so they stack bids in the hope that someone will either have a large short to close, or a large long to close and when forced to settle the price will jump up or down into their bids
[2016-02-17 12:09:13] 00Smurf : thank you
[2016-02-17 12:10:35] jung1 : De nada
