This is a mirror of the original BitMEX trollbox archive that used to be online here.
BitMEX disabled their archive after the DDOS attack so I have decided to make my mirror publicly available.

Well now, a few days after I made this mirror available to the public, the original archive from BitMEX is online again.
But since it is still limited (neutered to the last few hundred messages) I will keep my FULL mirror alive.

You have access to more than 50 million trollbox posts. This is more than 7 gigabyte of data hosted on a $5 server so please be patient or consider a donation

[2016-02-14 00:18:53] Mangalica : BTC has started painting a nice rounded bottom even before
[2016-02-14 00:19:03] rapidtrades : yeah agree
[2016-02-14 00:19:29] Mangalica : all the dips were bought up, etc
[2016-02-14 00:21:47] Mangalica : i like when the shitcoin i'm long in pumps with BTC (relative to BTC)
[2016-02-14 00:21:57] Mangalica : it's like... YO DAWG
[2016-02-14 00:22:37] Mangalica : i heard you like profit so we put profit in your profit so you can make money while you make money
[2016-02-14 00:26:15] Mangalica : the icing on the cake of this upswing would be a deal between devs (2mb in core asap). 1h green dildo to 450.
[2016-02-14 00:26:28] Mangalica : Not very likely, but a man can dream..
[2016-02-14 00:36:28] sleger : surprised that ltc did not crash more with that eth pump, all the other altcoins pump etc...
[2016-02-14 00:36:34] rapidtrades : who's the index following now
[2016-02-14 00:36:48] rapidtrades : okc 396 finex 395
[2016-02-14 00:37:57] sleger : it's just a stupidly designed index, the only thing it's following is its creators dream
[2016-02-14 00:38:14] rapidtrades : i hate the index
[2016-02-14 00:39:24] rapidtrades : if the index was a person I would send it to a concentration camp
[2016-02-14 00:39:35] Strobelov : daaaaaamn
[2016-02-14 00:39:40] sleger : i think that will change, not one person likes it
[2016-02-14 00:41:21] rapidtrades : hope so
[2016-02-14 01:19:46] m3th0dblank : hola trolls..I got margin questions
[2016-02-14 01:20:18] m3th0dblank : when isolated is selected, why does the leverage amount decrease in a long as the price increases?
[2016-02-14 01:20:37] REKT : Liquidated short on `XBTH16`: Buy 1000 @ 427.45
[2016-02-14 01:21:04] m3th0dblank : for example, I open a 25x long, isolated, prices goes up and now it shows my margin as 12.5x...
[2016-02-14 01:21:16] sleger : m3th0dblank: makes sense, right ?
[2016-02-14 01:21:28] m3th0dblank : i'm sure it does but not to me
[2016-02-14 01:21:44] sleger : let's start with basics, 1+1 = ?
[2016-02-14 01:21:45] m3th0dblank : if I open a 25x, isn't it always 25x if isolated?
[2016-02-14 01:21:53] m3th0dblank : ok..yes
[2016-02-14 01:22:04] sleger : no it's 2, not yes
[2016-02-14 01:22:22] m3th0dblank : your point?
[2016-02-14 01:22:23] habibi : sleger have u tried be funny and snarky at one time?
[2016-02-14 01:22:43] m3th0dblank : not suceeding at either...but hopefully informative is in your wheelhouse
[2016-02-14 01:22:47] sleger : if you start 25x it means it isolates 4% of your position, then if price increases you have extra pnl on top of your margin so leverage is less
[2016-02-14 01:23:06] m3th0dblank : aahh..got it
[2016-02-14 01:23:21] sleger : habibi: sorry , I would have loved to wait and see your explanation, pretty sure THAT would have been really funny
[2016-02-14 01:23:23] m3th0dblank : so its counting the pnl..got it
[2016-02-14 01:23:41] m3th0dblank : hey thx man
[2016-02-14 01:23:55] sleger : isolate margin "isolates margin" when you open the position
[2016-02-14 01:24:45] m3th0dblank : so if I don't isolate, its always at 25x of total but also subjects me to cross margin correct?
[2016-02-14 01:25:01] sleger : if you dont isolate its just cross margin
[2016-02-14 01:25:05] m3th0dblank : ah ok
[2016-02-14 01:25:10] sleger : 25x wouldnt mean anything then
[2016-02-14 01:25:14] m3th0dblank : k
[2016-02-14 01:31:08] habibi : what explanation? anyway it became so hot there in Syria tonight, Turkey is full in game
[2016-02-14 01:31:57] sleger : you live in syria ?
[2016-02-14 01:32:05] habibi : nope
[2016-02-14 01:33:00] habibi : but next days it can get really ugly if Turkey will hit Russia directly
[2016-02-14 01:36:37] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 50 @ 0.01303
[2016-02-14 01:37:39] sleger : yeah, poor people there
[2016-02-14 01:39:29] rapidtrades : well the just agreed to a truce...granted that doesn't mean much when the Russians are involved
[2016-02-14 01:49:58] REKT : Liquidated long on `ETH7D`: Sell 17 @ 0.01227
[2016-02-14 01:55:24] zanza : 396 BTC !

[2016-02-14 02:06:26] kingscrown : who got my free ebook http://fuk.io/free-ebook-for-subscribers/
[2016-02-14 02:07:42] habibi : ebook- tldr; biggest bitcoin related refs links on the net!
[2016-02-14 02:28:48] sleger : is this guy only coming here to promote his stuff ?
[2016-02-14 02:29:00] sleger : if thats the case lets bring it out of the chat box
[2016-02-14 02:29:04] sleger : by

[2016-02-14 02:29:44] habibi : well known spammer acros all ways of comunication in btc comunnity
[2016-02-14 02:46:50] REKT : Liquidated long on `XBT24H`: Sell 100 @ 396.16
[2016-02-14 02:54:55] zanza : sexy ref links
[2016-02-14 02:59:19] BitMEX_Wally : Tulip_stefan: If you want "buy 0.1 btc of contracts with a margin of exactly 0.1 btc" then set leverage to 1x and submit an order to buy simpleOrderQty of 0.1. You will get exactly what you want.
[2016-02-14 03:00:10] BitMEX_Wally : It will buy 26 contracts worth 0.1 XBT and rather than requiring 0.001 XBT of margin it will lock out 0.1 XBT.
[2016-02-14 04:17:07] rapidtrades : BitMEX_Wally: is the margin call point for cross margin 50% of my account?
[2016-02-14 04:21:50] BitMEX_Wally : rapidtrades: No. For XBT24H the maintenance margin requirement is 0.50%
[2016-02-14 04:22:39] rapidtrades : makes sense tnx
[2016-02-14 04:24:31] BitMEX_Wally : If you have cross margin on with XBT24H it opens a position using 1% margin (i.e. 1%) and then if you suffer a x% loss it moves x% in from your account (if available).
[2016-02-14 04:25:34] BitMEX_Wally : When cross margin is enabled the liquidation price shown is assuming you have all the margin in the account already moved in
[2016-02-14 04:26:11] rapidtrades : ok tnx...haven't entered my position yet, that's why I'm asking
[2016-02-14 04:33:14] j8 : yeah you can't trust the liquidation price if you have multiple positions on cross margin, it changes all the time
[2016-02-14 04:39:41] rapidtrades : I woke up twice for a possible breakout...looks like we're not getting it today
[2016-02-14 04:52:40] zanza : u have an arb rapidtrades ?
[2016-02-14 07:11:16] Tulip_stefan : is there anywhere in the gui where i can see huw much fees i paid?
[2016-02-14 08:03:10] BitMEX_Wally : Tulip_stefan: Look at the 'Commission' column in your Trade History: https://www.bitmex.com/app/tradeHistory
[2016-02-14 08:05:53] Tulip_stefan : i didn't realize the account/wallet menu entry expanded when you click on it...
[2016-02-14 08:33:40] REKT : Liquidated short on `XBT24H`: Buy 2 @ 398.98 :punch: :whale:
[2016-02-14 08:52:19] rapidtrades : what's with this slow dumb grind higher...either break or don't you stupid coin
[2016-02-14 08:54:13] Tulip_stefan : Highly volatile stocks, high margin. Still complaining about lack of price action.
[2016-02-14 08:56:49] rapidtrades : i have better things to do tulipmania
[2016-02-14 09:08:48] elmorte : Yeah, it's veteran's day
[2016-02-14 09:12:35] Tulip_stefan : it's programming-from-8-to-midnight-day #3 :P
[2016-02-14 09:13:19] rapidtrades : there is a 1k wall on finex thats not moving
[2016-02-14 09:13:34] rapidtrades : there's also about 100 on btc-e same price
[2016-02-14 09:14:38] rapidtrades : seems strange to defend that number with china barreling higher
[2016-02-14 09:15:57] micmix : rapidtrades: finex has huge hidden sell order at $400, few k at least
[2016-02-14 09:16:35] micmix : 1k visible wall wasn't even touched
[2016-02-14 09:16:50] rapidtrades : ah tnx for that...how o u know
[2016-02-14 09:17:01] djuan : did you guys see on twitter that Martin Shkreli got defrauded out of 38k bitcoin $15m
[2016-02-14 09:19:27] micmix : rapidtrades: orderbook was still showing 1k ask @ $400 after several hundreds coins were bought @ $400
[2016-02-14 09:19:37] rapidtrades : micmix: ah fair point
[2016-02-14 09:20:45] rapidtrades : djuan: I don't know what to make of that...seems like trolling or hacked account
[2016-02-14 09:21:11] rapidtrades : Our Lord and Savior can't be that stupid
[2016-02-14 09:23:52] micmix : rapidtrades: just ran a query, 587.5 coins bought @ $400 from that hidden wall
[2016-02-14 09:24:13] djuan : he thought he was buying another secret album from kanye west. now he is crying on the internet. what will the fraudsters do with the btc? I know what i would do. sell
[2016-02-14 09:24:49] rapidtrades : djuan: the Lord works in mysterious ways
[2016-02-14 09:25:01] djuan : amen
[2016-02-14 09:27:17] rapidtrades : micmix: weird stuff man...why try to defend, smone stuck in a short?
[2016-02-14 09:28:23] rapidtrades : if they want to sell, they could do it $3 higher on okc
[2016-02-14 09:28:33] laisee : djuan: just another marketing meme for Kanyes album?
[2016-02-14 09:28:36] rapidtrades : $4.5 higher now
[2016-02-14 09:28:50] jung1 : Or they will pump some altcoins with this
[2016-02-14 09:29:50] Tulip_stefan : I vote for kanye coin.
[2016-02-14 09:30:13] jung1 : coinye
[2016-02-14 09:30:25] jung1 : Was like 2y ago
[2016-02-14 09:30:30] Tulip_stefan : yeah. I mis-googled it..
[2016-02-14 09:30:40] laisee : conye, where art thou?
[2016-02-14 09:30:41] jung1 : But kanye lawyers suit
[2016-02-14 09:30:54] rapidtrades : I remember when that came out...ppl used to buy the weirdest shit back then
[2016-02-14 09:30:59] rapidtrades : cashing the next bitcoin

[2016-02-14 09:31:18] jung1 : But it was funny name imo
[2016-02-14 09:31:27] rapidtrades : :)
[2016-02-14 09:31:35] jung1 : With kanye-looks like fish as logo
[2016-02-14 09:31:36] laisee : I thought kanye might see the joke and join in ...
[2016-02-14 09:31:39] Tulip_stefan : I still have like 0.0000001 btc worth of every altcoin on bter and cryptsy...
[2016-02-14 09:32:02] Tulip_stefan : to the hell with minimum trade quantity.
[2016-02-14 09:32:12] laisee : can still withdraw the sheissecoins from cryptsy?
[2016-02-14 09:32:23] jung1 : I have whole folder of shitcoins paper wallets. Just in case
[2016-02-14 09:32:43] Tulip_stefan : i doubt it. But i haven't visited them in a while.
[2016-02-14 09:32:59] jung1 : Craptsy locked my account with 25eth
[2016-02-14 09:33:04] jung1 : Fuckers

[2016-02-14 09:33:23] rapidtrades : laisee: not a bad idea
[2016-02-14 09:33:41] Tulip_stefan : i was once a large trader there but i'd never visit their site, did everything with my bot. Then one day they locked my account due to inactivity because i haven't visited their site in half a year.
[2016-02-14 09:34:06] Tulip_stefan : apparently their account activity detector doesn't check for api requests... left soon after.
[2016-02-14 09:34:22] Tulip_stefan : it was a good call.
[2016-02-14 09:34:26] laisee : altcoin exchanges always seem to die.
[2016-02-14 09:34:28] rapidtrades : :)
[2016-02-14 09:34:40] zanza : i think that Shrekeli this is a troll
[2016-02-14 09:34:50] rapidtrades : i f need to eat man
[2016-02-14 09:35:00] rapidtrades : move u shitcoin
[2016-02-14 09:35:35] micmix : Tulip_stefan: Cryptsy trading engine never worked quite right. my bot was trading with negative balances on the account
[2016-02-14 09:35:49] rapidtrades : lol
[2016-02-14 09:35:59] Tulip_stefan : i had that sometimes but wasn't overly concerned with that.
[2016-02-14 09:36:15] rapidtrades : nah man seems normal
[2016-02-14 09:36:17] Tulip_stefan : cryptsy's crappyness didn't even approach how crap bter was.
[2016-02-14 09:36:57] micmix : I think I took one look at bter api and decided I wasn't going to trade there
[2016-02-14 09:37:23] Tulip_stefan : there where lots of bugs in their api, some of them where really well hidden.
[2016-02-14 09:37:53] jung1 : Hope that polo will stay alive
[2016-02-14 09:38:00] jung1 : Its lagga as hell
[2016-02-14 09:38:11] jung1 : But offer margin for altcoins
[2016-02-14 09:38:17] jung1 : Which is nice
[2016-02-14 09:38:40] jung1 : Any other exchange have margin on alts?
[2016-02-14 09:39:03] rapidtrades : I always wanted a way to short shitcoins
[2016-02-14 09:39:03] micmix : yeah, my bot was getting 500 error on almost every request when ETH was moving fast
[2016-02-14 09:39:34] Tulip_stefan : the networking library i use doesn't get their websocket protocol :(
[2016-02-14 09:40:01] jung1 : With altcoin margins with low volume is quite easy to make money
[2016-02-14 09:40:26] rapidtrades : jung1: by market making or..what are u saying
[2016-02-14 09:41:05] rapidtrades : low volume is usually not a selling point :p
[2016-02-14 09:41:06] jung1 : You have on polo several altcoins with <10btc volume
[2016-02-14 09:41:31] jung1 : Quite easy to move price
[2016-02-14 09:42:24] Tulip_stefan : altcoin arbitrage is pretty raw. On bter i had an algorithm that inserted all markets in a graph and attempted to find profitable cycles. But the competition surpassed it several months later :(
[2016-02-14 09:44:35] micmix : new polo weirdness: Position Short -6959.999998 ETH Base Price N/A
[2016-02-14 09:44:53] micmix : good luck trading with base price N/A :-)
[2016-02-14 09:46:48] jung1 : Decentralized exchanges (like openbaazar) will kill arbitrage
[2016-02-14 09:46:56] jung1 : In 2 years
[2016-02-14 09:47:03] rapidtrades : lol 600 btc bought @400
[2016-02-14 09:48:25] rapidtrades : f finally...let's break it so I can eat
[2016-02-14 09:55:09] djuan : rapidtrades: i think you've got time for a double sausage and egg mcmuffin
[2016-02-14 10:02:50] jung1 : Guys
[2016-02-14 10:03:10] jung1 : When last time you bought something by bitcoin
[2016-02-14 10:03:20] jung1 : In "real life"
[2016-02-14 10:03:31] jung1 : ?
[2016-02-14 10:03:45] djuan : starbucks a month ago
[2016-02-14 10:04:00] micmix : hidden wall on finex is still there, will take bigger buying pressure to break it
[2016-02-14 10:05:47] rapidtrades : jung1: a gift card about 6 months ago
[2016-02-14 10:06:22] rapidtrades : micmix: how much executed so far?

[2016-02-14 10:06:59] rapidtrades : are u sure? I see a block of 600 go through
[2016-02-14 10:07:05] rapidtrades : *saw

[2016-02-14 10:08:44] micmix : you are right, missed it. let me run a query again
[2016-02-14 10:09:09] micmix : 1355
[2016-02-14 10:09:37] micmix : that's a big wall
[2016-02-14 10:09:52] Tulip_stefan : I don't think i ever brought anything in bitcoin. I sold something for bitcoin, does that count?
[2016-02-14 10:10:16] jung1 : Someone make fake polo app
[2016-02-14 10:10:59] jung1 : I buy coffe or beer every friday
[2016-02-14 10:11:07] jung1 : In my hometown
[2016-02-14 10:12:43] micmix : I buy all computer hardware and electronics with bitcoin. I would pay mortgage with bitcoin but our bank doesn't accept it for some reason ;-)

[2016-02-14 10:18:20] jung1 : Works fine
[2016-02-14 10:18:24] laisee : hawala is international informal network for transferring money
[2016-02-14 10:18:44] rapidtrades : jung1: can't open the site in FF?
[2016-02-14 10:19:03] jung1 : Dunno
[2016-02-14 10:19:20] jung1 : Works in chrome and vivaldi

[2016-02-14 10:27:30] tscha : By the way Wally/Arthur, did you have any problems setting up a bank account for a Bitcoin company in HK? I heard that many banks reject those over there.
[2016-02-14 10:27:43] tscha : but then on the other hand, arthur surely has good connections :)
[2016-02-14 10:28:49] rapidtrades : and a wad of cash

[2016-02-14 10:52:16] jung1 : Btw you will be able to make eth node with 1500eth and earn money as pos
[2016-02-14 10:52:30] jung1 : Good investment imo
[2016-02-14 10:57:28] djuan : Augur is nearly upon us. *rubs hands eagerly*
[2016-02-14 10:59:56] jung1 : Wtf is wrong with exp. They did not dump it
[2016-02-14 11:27:59] rapidtrades : jung1: why is it a good investment
[2016-02-14 11:28:33] Tulip_stefan : isn't that obvious? This investment makes his investment worth more :P
[2016-02-14 11:33:46] rapidtrades : can't believe they successfully defended $400
[2016-02-14 11:34:18] rapidtrades : guess their plan is to hold the line until Monday
[2016-02-14 11:35:07] djuan : I hope so. Im waiting for some money to arrive in my account

[2016-02-14 11:39:47] habibi : try it out, nothing special imo
[2016-02-14 11:40:13] rapidtrades : yeah what's the interest
[2016-02-14 11:40:22] jung1 : Say it to people in cyprus
[2016-02-14 11:41:02] jung1 : Really guys? And what is the interest of minning?
[2016-02-14 11:41:41] rapidtrades : you seem very INVESTED in this idea lol
[2016-02-14 11:43:08] jung1 : LOL XD IMAO
[2016-02-14 11:43:12] habibi : jung1: in pow u create currency using energy/invested money into eq, here its free money what means its much easier to dump it which means even u earn 3-4% anually it will get vanished by value lost imo
[2016-02-14 11:43:40] rapidtrades : agree
[2016-02-14 11:44:40] rapidtrades : didn't peercoin try that interest thing
[2016-02-14 11:44:43] rapidtrades : with peer shares
[2016-02-14 11:45:04] jung1 : Well you can say same about minning equipment that it loose value really fast
[2016-02-14 11:45:27] rapidtrades : noone recommends mining anymore
[2016-02-14 11:46:26] Tulip_stefan : it's hard to get into. I tried 2 years ago but i quickly came to the conclusin that botting was a much better investment of my time.
[2016-02-14 11:46:32] Tulip_stefan : YMMV
[2016-02-14 11:46:50] rapidtrades : Tulip_stefan: u shithead

[2016-02-14 12:07:56] habibi : in terms of trading btc? or some casual stuff?
[2016-02-14 12:08:26] rapidtrades : yes
[2016-02-14 12:09:35] habibi : actually this day is kinda diffrent, we have some movement up, its not that bad
[2016-02-14 12:14:35] djuan : martin shitty is running a crowd fund. lol I think he is scamming everyone
[2016-02-14 12:58:13] elmorte : habibi: Yeah, unless you were short...:/
[2016-02-14 13:02:57] messiaen8844 : OKC sub 2700... may retrace a few dollars
[2016-02-14 13:04:55] habibi : okc strong, but hobis made new lows
[2016-02-14 13:07:08] messiaen8844 : took most of my profits, will buy only the breakout now
[2016-02-14 13:14:10] mrp1nk : btfd
[2016-02-14 13:15:55] mrp1nk : ;-)
[2016-02-14 13:19:30] REKT : Liquidated long on `XBT7D`: Sell 2000 @ 397.83
[2016-02-14 14:03:32] Tulip_stefan : hmm i have issues with nonce's clashing between REST and websocket auth. Any idea's?
[2016-02-14 14:04:23] tscha : use the same nonce generator for both
[2016-02-14 14:05:17] rapidtrades : yeah use nonce
[2016-02-14 14:05:26] Tulip_stefan : Yea i do. But when my bot starts i queue a few REST requests and authenticate with websocket, and i don't have control over the synchronication between the websocket and REST requests..
[2016-02-14 14:05:46] rapidtrades : again the answer is nonce
[2016-02-14 14:07:10] Tulip_stefan : ...i don't get your answer.
[2016-02-14 14:09:08] djuan : rapidtrades: lol
[2016-02-14 14:09:48] tscha : well, either you wait for your rest requets a couple of seconds when your bot starts... probably the easiest solution
[2016-02-14 14:10:43] tscha : or (prolly bad coding style and I dont know your design) you make your active websocket requests (which use nonce) go through the REST object in a synchronized matter, making it impossible for the two threads to clash
[2016-02-14 14:11:46] Tulip_stefan : that's not trivial in my design.
[2016-02-14 14:12:58] Tulip_stefan : my design has a broker that schedules network requests for the exchange and implements various rate limiting schemes. But the websocket requests doesn't go past that thing.
[2016-02-14 14:13:11] Tulip_stefan : sorry for bad grammar.
[2016-02-14 14:14:15] tscha : Why not just wait for trading until you are authenticated? And if you get disconnected, stop trading until you are reconnected+reauthed? or are you switching to rest-pulling in case of a websocket disconnect?
[2016-02-14 14:14:35] Tulip_stefan : my bot has no idea wheter he has disconnected or not.
[2016-02-14 14:14:44] tscha : lol
[2016-02-14 14:14:49] tscha : sounds safe
[2016-02-14 14:15:42] tscha : so even if your bot has no clue if your orders are getting filled or not, or how large your position is, he just keeps trading?
[2016-02-14 14:16:22] tscha : how does this even work
[2016-02-14 14:16:39] rapidtrades : Tulip_stefan: prolly how u lost 30%
[2016-02-14 14:17:04] Tulip_stefan : My bot design issues buy and sell calls against a black box and returns handle which can be used to query the order state. If i let the handle go out of scope the order get's canceled.
[2016-02-14 14:17:45] Tulip_stefan : My bot can't request an orderbook or tickdata, it can only tell the api the priority in which they should be queried.
[2016-02-14 14:18:03] Tulip_stefan : that was a manual trade. @rapidtrades
[2016-02-14 14:18:35] tscha : wait.. so what are you using the bitmex websocket for?
[2016-02-14 14:19:16] tscha : you said you are quering the order state? so you are using REST to query your orders?
[2016-02-14 14:19:53] Tulip_stefan : no i use websocket for everything except to query which markets exist and to create/cancel orders.
[2016-02-14 14:20:33] Tulip_stefan : but my bot design is set up in such a way that it doesn't really care if the websocket breaks.. actually, i think it will just keep on trading :P
[2016-02-14 14:21:48] tscha : So you are using the websocket to receive updates from your orders (filled, partially filled, etc...).. this implies that when you get disconnected, you won't get those updates... and continuing trading then doesn't seem very logical (unless you switch to REST-pulling in case of disconnect)
[2016-02-14 14:23:05] tscha : i mean, how do you wanna know if your order, that you placed 1 min ago, was filled? And if your position is +600 contracts or -25000?
[2016-02-14 14:23:12] Tulip_stefan : my bot cancels orders after a while to make sure they don't get stuck.
[2016-02-14 14:24:01] tscha : So your bot actually never knows the size of your position
[2016-02-14 14:24:03] Tulip_stefan : my net position is a problem yes.. I didn't realize that was a problem on margin exchanges. On spot exchanges it doesn't matter too much.
[2016-02-14 14:25:23] Tulip_stefan : my bot does know it's position but there is no reason it would place orders at bad prices if i wouldn't get any feedback. That's what i meant.
[2016-02-14 14:26:44] tscha : Okay. Yeah I thought you depend on monitoring your order status via websocket, but it seems that you just let them die after some time :)
[2016-02-14 14:27:25] tscha : You should watch your position though on future markets due to settlement fees (and liquidation issues)
[2016-02-14 14:28:44] Tulip_stefan : yea those 2 things are the reason i need to make a new bot, my current one doesn't do risk management and going all-in on 100x wouldn't be good...
[2016-02-14 14:29:49] habibi : we need players like u here as long as u will funfill new funds :P
[2016-02-14 14:31:02] REKT : Liquidated short on `XBT24H`: Buy 200 @ 400.32
[2016-02-14 14:31:08] rapidtrades : oh shit
[2016-02-14 14:31:14] rapidtrades : round two boys!
[2016-02-14 14:32:49] tscha : Just subscribe to your position on websocket and let order placement depend on it (if position gets too large, increase spread on the right side in order to collect a premium for further risk)
[2016-02-14 14:33:45] rapidtrades : is anyone doing cash and carry here
[2016-02-14 14:37:38] tscha : this slow and steady rise, together with one-sided volume is so brutal for market makers
[2016-02-14 14:38:08] rapidtrades : good :)
[2016-02-14 14:38:15] Tulip_stefan : indeed :P
[2016-02-14 14:38:34] tscha : rapidtrades: didn't you want to start coding too? what about your python bot?
[2016-02-14 14:39:23] habibi : tscha: didnt u notice that everyone is screaming about crash on forex/stocks? thats coz his bot already's there! :p
[2016-02-14 14:39:44] Tulip_stefan : i only trade bitcoins.
[2016-02-14 14:39:59] Tulip_stefan : don't need your filthy paper money.
[2016-02-14 14:40:20] djuan : high five
[2016-02-14 14:40:38] Tulip_stefan :
[2016-02-14 14:42:38] rapidtrades : habibi: yeah my forex bot is wreaking havoc on the markets
[2016-02-14 14:42:43] Tulip_stefan : i solved the nonce issue by just querying the markets every 30 seconds... it's a lazy hack but works.
[2016-02-14 14:43:00] rapidtrades : told ya nonce was the key
[2016-02-14 14:43:16] djuan : those pesky nonces
[2016-02-14 14:43:53] rapidtrades : a nonce here, a nonce there, pretty sure you have no idea what you're talking about
[2016-02-14 14:44:12] rapidtrades : pretty soon*
[2016-02-14 14:44:19] rapidtrades : f*ck I ruined that joke
[2016-02-14 14:46:31] rapidtrades : finex broke $400..its on now
[2016-02-14 14:46:36] djuan : fuck a nonce
[2016-02-14 14:49:51] Mangalica : 15 bucks premium in china still
[2016-02-14 14:50:18] djuan : did shit just get real? is sunday saved?
[2016-02-14 14:50:19] Tulip_stefan : okay i think i got the bitmex api done. It's even more code than the bter implementaton.
[2016-02-14 14:51:05] rapidtrades : so shitty api huh?
[2016-02-14 14:52:21] Tulip_stefan : no the api is pretty decent. The api-expires header doesn't work for me and nonce issues between websocket and REST are annoying.
[2016-02-14 14:52:48] Tulip_stefan : but other than that i didn't see any surprises. i'll rank it as #2 out of the 15 API's we've implemented now.
[2016-02-14 14:53:20] rapidtrades : who's 1
[2016-02-14 14:53:20] sleger : 1=?
[2016-02-14 14:53:36] j8 : i haven't had an issue with api-expires.
[2016-02-14 14:55:34] tscha : I really have to pee, but we are all waiting for stefans #1
[2016-02-14 14:55:51] Tulip_stefan : hitbtc. I implemented their entire API in less than 3 hours.
[2016-02-14 14:56:06] rapidtrades : dam...an unexpected winner
[2016-02-14 14:56:22] Tulip_stefan : shame their platform never took off.
[2016-02-14 15:01:23] rapidtrades : some b1tch keeps selling on finex
[2016-02-14 15:03:35] justinlooking : how u gettin on building bots rapidtrades
[2016-02-14 15:03:56] rapidtrades : doing ok

[2016-02-14 15:05:16] justinlooking : :)
[2016-02-14 15:05:53] djuan : step two?
[2016-02-14 15:06:04] justinlooking : hello world
[2016-02-14 15:06:31] djuan : step three?
[2016-02-14 15:06:47] Tulip_stefan : thermonuclear war
[2016-02-14 15:07:20] djuan : terminator skynet
[2016-02-14 15:11:09] BitMEX_Sam : Tulip_stefan: Happy to take a look at the nonce/expires problems you're having
[2016-02-14 15:15:19] Tulip_stefan : this is my code: http://pastebin.com/chau8vE6
[2016-02-14 15:15:36] Tulip_stefan : as soon as i uncomment the api-expires line, i get nothing but invalid signatures.
[2016-02-14 15:16:44] j8 : expires goes into signature instead of nonce
[2016-02-14 15:19:03] Tulip_stefan : yeah you're right. I didn't realize the nonces had to be the same.
[2016-02-14 15:19:52] Tulip_stefan : works now.
[2016-02-14 15:20:10] j8 : nice.
[2016-02-14 15:22:43] BitMEX_Sam : Great :)
[2016-02-14 15:23:25] BitMEX_Sam : I hope that's clear enough in https://www.bitmex.com/app/apiKeys#handling-colliding-nonces
[2016-02-14 15:35:41] zer0hedge : Current XBTM16 24h Volume is 50.4677

[2016-02-14 15:36:05] zer0hedge : How is the volume calculated?
[2016-02-14 15:36:29] habibi : within leveraged
[2016-02-14 15:40:58] BitMEX_Sam : The XBT series contracts are rather small, that 50 XBT appears right
[2016-02-14 15:45:32] zer0hedge : ok, got it
[2016-02-14 15:45:50] sleger : thought guys at zerohedge were a bit smarter, no ?
[2016-02-14 15:46:04] zer0hedge : no they are like me :-)
[2016-02-14 15:46:30] sleger : alright, if you look at their track record, makes sense
[2016-02-14 15:47:05] sleger : for 100 articles and suggested trade recommendation, you probably see 1 where they auto-congratulate themselves for being right, the 99 others are wrong...
[2016-02-14 15:48:06] Tulip_stefan : survivorship bias is a bitch.
[2016-02-14 15:48:33] rapidtrades : that's not survivorship bias
[2016-02-14 15:48:51] sleger : not really but we understood what he probably meant to say
[2016-02-14 15:49:20] Tulip_stefan : making 100 predictions and highlighting the one that succeeded is not survivorship bias?
[2016-02-14 15:49:22] rapidtrades : i mean who knows,,,,the man is a self-confessed botter so
[2016-02-14 15:49:51] habibi : sleger: what was his last recommendation?
[2016-02-14 15:50:32] sleger : some bonds trade with chesapeake

[2016-02-14 16:05:35] djuan : short? really?
[2016-02-14 16:07:39] habibi : u know when u opening long its someone else shortin other closing long
[2016-02-14 16:07:41] sleger : djuan: what dont you understand ?
[2016-02-14 16:08:01] sleger : market goes up, short get liq
[2016-02-14 16:11:20] justinlooking : you bullish short term sleger?
[2016-02-14 16:11:41] sleger : very small long yes
[2016-02-14 16:11:50] justinlooking : aight, ty
[2016-02-14 16:12:37] sleger : i wouldnt take a large position while core/classic debate is on
[2016-02-14 16:13:49] justinlooking : u been involved in any eth?
[2016-02-14 16:16:12] sleger : no, i short a lot of altcoins, but stayed away from eth so far
[2016-02-14 16:16:29] sleger : altcoins shorting hasnt been great this past month overall
[2016-02-14 16:17:26] arbitrage001 : how do you short alt coin?
[2016-02-14 16:17:44] arbitrage001 : poloniex ?
[2016-02-14 16:17:45] sleger : polo. but you can do litecoin and eth here
[2016-02-14 16:18:05] arbitrage001 : is the interest rate high?
[2016-02-14 16:18:20] sleger : depends - thats something to be careful about
[2016-02-14 16:51:30] j8 : sleger: is there a way to put a bid for a loan on polo? it seemed like you could only borrow by trading

[2016-02-14 16:59:33] j8 : which is good for 2 days?
[2016-02-14 17:06:16] sleger : yes
[2016-02-14 17:15:37] j8 : i see, and you have to take whatever rate after 2 days to keep your position open i guess
[2016-02-14 17:16:07] j8 : or close and reopen
[2016-02-14 17:37:13] sleger : yes or at least thats what im doing, i havent found an option to manage borrow better like on finex
[2016-02-14 17:46:10] rapidtrades : how do u manage rates on finex? reverse orders or
[2016-02-14 17:48:46] sleger : reverse orders=? or what ?
[2016-02-14 17:50:17] rapidtrades : well idk how u do it

[2016-02-14 17:57:59] laisee : rapidtrades: close or claim.
[2016-02-14 17:58:23] rapidtrades : what are u talking about
[2016-02-14 17:58:27] j8 : like if rates go down, you need to have some excess margin to borrow cheaper, then return your expensive ones
[2016-02-14 17:58:57] rapidtrades : so like i said, first u go to reserve then u close the existing margin
[2016-02-14 17:59:18] j8 : yeah. but you wouldn't be able to do it if you were fully leveraged
[2016-02-14 17:59:43] rapidtrades : do u use daily or term funding type
[2016-02-14 17:59:55] j8 : not sure that it matters
[2016-02-14 18:00:12] j8 : i'm on daily though
[2016-02-14 18:00:19] rapidtrades : no idea too that's why im asking
[2016-02-14 18:01:15] j8 : it might matter, since it reserves more margin for term funding
[2016-02-14 18:01:48] rapidtrades : are swaps paid daily?
[2016-02-14 18:01:56] rapidtrades : like on okc? each 24h?
[2016-02-14 18:03:52] j8 : yeah
[2016-02-14 18:04:56] rapidtrades : so if i want to rotate to cheaper swaps, then I should do it close to time when the current swap expires?
[2016-02-14 18:05:18] j8 : no you're not billed for 24 hours
[2016-02-14 18:06:02] rapidtrades : how am i billed then
[2016-02-14 18:06:22] j8 : you're billed for some fraction of a day when you close
[2016-02-14 18:06:38] rapidtrades : hourly or second?
[2016-02-14 18:07:03] rapidtrades : how low does the calc go
[2016-02-14 18:07:59] j8 : lower than hourly, i have one in my history billed for 0.0028 days
[2016-02-14 18:09:41] j8 : and one for 0.0012 days which is less than 2 minutes
[2016-02-14 18:12:10] rapidtrades : tnx....this was helpful...i think
[2016-02-14 18:13:08] REKT : Liquidated short on `XBT24H`: Buy 400 @ 405.26
[2016-02-14 18:13:31] j8 : as far as i can tell there's no hidden cost to reopening your loans cheaper, but i haven't really looked closely at it
[2016-02-14 18:15:25] j8 : and its really one-sided since you can always return your loan early if it goes down further
[2016-02-14 18:21:01] j8 : you would generally want to return your most expensive ones first, but you might want to keep a long term one at a higher rate if you think rates will go up
[2016-02-14 18:22:15] laisee : also if you have some profits you can trade in higher rates for cheaper loans.
[2016-02-14 18:52:59] REKT : Liquidated long on `XBT24H`: Sell 1000 @ 403.21
[2016-02-14 18:53:28] tscha : Freddy Fatfinger on okc
[2016-02-14 18:54:07] Tulip_stefan : ehh?
[2016-02-14 18:55:11] tscha : Tulip_stefan: was that your bot? :)
[2016-02-14 18:55:45] Tulip_stefan : no mine isn't live yet.
[2016-02-14 18:56:14] Tulip_stefan : i'm currently trying to figure out a way to automaticly pick up the settlement info from the api.
[2016-02-14 18:56:34] Tulip_stefan : was hoping to launch it tonight, but i don't think that's going to happen.
[2016-02-14 18:57:06] tscha : BitMEX_Sam: Hey, not sure what causes this, but in the trollbox, this emoji :) looks happier than this one :D, though it should be other way round if you look at the raw text
[2016-02-14 18:57:20] BitMEX_Sam : Hah, blame unicode
[2016-02-14 18:57:21] tscha : maybe not as important as pushing the api tomorrow hahaha
[2016-02-14 18:57:30] BitMEX_Sam : Completely out of our hands :) couldn't fix it even if I wanted to
[2016-02-14 18:57:50] tscha : ok, wasn't sure... hm, weird
[2016-02-14 18:58:10] tscha : #tschaproblems :D :)
[2016-02-14 18:58:11] Tulip_stefan : ?
[2016-02-14 18:58:58] tscha : but it's the same for you guys right? or is it just a weird emoji-set I am using?
[2016-02-14 18:59:13] BitMEX_Sam : Yeah I see it the same way.
[2016-02-14 18:59:26] BitMEX_Sam : Actually there might be something on our end now that I think about it, because we do some implicit conversions of ascii
[2016-02-14 19:00:15] tscha : sorry for bothering you with this haha :)
[2016-02-14 19:02:16] BitMEX_Sam : Hah np. It's a curious thing
[2016-02-14 19:02:19] BitMEX_Sam : It looks like it's just the set
[2016-02-14 19:02:24] BitMEX_Sam : See http://www.emoji-cheat-sheet.com/
[2016-02-14 19:02:46] BitMEX_Sam : A regular smiley translates to `smile` while the one with a D translates to `smiley`
[2016-02-14 19:05:46] Tulip_stefan : Blame low-resolution displays.
[2016-02-14 19:07:12] cdpi404 : hello people i'm new here it's possible 100 leverage marging trading
[2016-02-14 19:11:45] habibi : hello cdpi404 i am glad u bring ur money here

[2016-02-14 19:29:31] rapidtrades : what do u make of this slow rise
[2016-02-14 19:29:37] rapidtrades : fakeout or breakout
[2016-02-14 19:30:34] tscha : meh, I don't like emojis... maybe I am just too old... when I was young you had to use your imagination for smilies
[2016-02-14 19:30:45] tscha : kids these days...
[2016-02-14 19:31:17] rapidtrades : :)
[2016-02-14 19:31:37] tscha : I remember ICQ in 1996.... don't laugh rapid, you prolly weren't even born at that time
[2016-02-14 19:35:11] laisee : ICQ was better than Skype chat by miles. Just sayin'
[2016-02-14 19:36:06] laisee : And Trillian meant you could have one tool and multiple chat accounts.
[2016-02-14 19:36:39] tscha : ICQ was the coolest messenger ever, probably because it was the first big ever
[2016-02-14 19:36:42] rapidtrades : can u set stops on finex
[2016-02-14 19:37:16] tscha : Hard to be unbaised on that though since I was very young when using ICQ... basically discovered the internet with yahoo, netscape navigator and icq
[2016-02-14 19:38:45] castroreis : Pessoal vcs que já investiram btc aqui me recomendam?

[2016-02-14 19:46:21] rapidtrades : jajajajjajaja
[2016-02-14 19:47:12] Tulip_stefan : bitmex, one of the docs pages mentioned that, in the event of extreme price manipulations, the settlement is pushed back. How are such events communicated, api wise?
[2016-02-14 19:47:47] rapidtrades : WHAT
[2016-02-14 19:48:04] rapidtrades : *GRABS PITCHFORK
[2016-02-14 19:48:29] Tulip_stefan : could be that i read it wrong or fogotten about it...
[2016-02-14 19:49:57] Tulip_stefan : https://www.bitmex.com/app/exchangeGuide under MDE
[2016-02-14 19:50:20] Tulip_stefan : has that ever happened?
[2016-02-14 19:51:11] Tulip_stefan : rapidtrades: i can't find a pitchfork unicode character, sorry.
[2016-02-14 19:51:25] rapidtrades : III
[2016-02-14 19:51:36] j8 : has never been pushed back as far as i know. there have been a couple cases where the source for the index had to be changed
[2016-02-14 19:51:48] rapidtrades : |||__________________
[2016-02-14 19:52:04] rapidtrades : ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬
[2016-02-14 19:52:35] Tulip_stefan : hmm okay my algorithm handles an changing index fine.
[2016-02-14 19:53:20] j8 : generally that sort of thing would be communicated by email
[2016-02-14 19:54:24] j8 : so all you need to do is set your bot up with an email address and program it to understand natural language
[2016-02-14 19:54:28] castroreis : Não estou entendendo nada
[2016-02-14 19:54:34] Tulip_stefan : yeah. No.
[2016-02-14 19:55:02] castroreis : Não
[2016-02-14 19:55:21] Tulip_stefan : i was responding to j8
